1. நீ உன் சத்துருக்களுக்கு எதிராக யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் புறப்பட்டுப்போகையில், குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களையும், உன்னிலும் பெரிய கூட்டமாகிய ஜனங்களையும் கண்டால், அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாயாக; உன்னை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னோடே இருக்கிறார்.

1. When thou goest out to battayle agaynst thine enemies, & seest horses, and charettes, and people, mo then thou, be not afrayde of them: for the Lorde thy God is with thee, which brought thee out of the lande of Egypt.

2. நீங்கள் யுத்தஞ்செய்யத் தொடங்கும்போது, ஆசாரியன் சேர்ந்து வந்து, ஜனங்களிடத்தில் பேசி:

2. And when ye are come nye vnto battayle, ye priest shall come foorth to speake vnto the people,

3. இஸ்ரவேலரே, கேளுங்கள்; இன்று உங்கள் சத்துருக்களுடன் யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் போகிறீர்கள்; உங்கள் இருதயம் துவளவேண்டாம்; நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் பார்த்துப் பயப்படவும் கலங்கவும் தத்தளிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்.

3. And shall say vnto them: Heare O Israel, you are come this day vnto battayle agaynst your enemies, let not your heartes faynt, neither feare, nor be amazed, nor a dread of them:

4. உங்களுக்காக உங்கள் சத்துருக்களோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணவும் உங்களை இரட்சிக்கவும் உங்களோடேகூடப் போகிறவர் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.

4. For the Lord your God goeth with you, to fyght for you agaynst your enemies, and to saue you.

5. அன்றியும் அதிபதிகள் ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: புதுவீட்டைக் கட்டி, அதைப் பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் யுத்தத்திலே செத்தால் வேறொருவன் அதைப் பிரதிஷ்டைப்பண்ணவேண்டியதாகும்.

5. And let the officers speake vnto the people, saying: If any man haue built a newe house, and haue not dedicate it: let hym go and returne to his house, lest he dye in the battayle, and another man dedicate it.

6. திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தை நாட்டி, அதை அனுபவியாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் யுத்தத்திலே செத்தால் வேறொருவன் அதை அநுபவிக்கவேண்டியதாகும்.

6. And if any man haue planted a vineyarde, and haue not made it comon: let hym go and returne agayne vnto his house, lest he dye in the battayle, and another make it common,

7. ஒரு பெண்ணைத் தனக்கு நியமித்துக்கொண்டு, அவளை விவாகம்பண்ணாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போகக்கடவன்; அவன் யுத்தத்திலே செத்தால் வேறொருவன் அவளை விவாகம்பண்ணவேண்டியதாகும் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.

7. And if any man be betrouthed vnto a wyfe, and haue not taken her: let hym go and returne agayne vnto his house, lest he dye in the battayle, and another man take her.

8. பின்னும் அதிபதிகள் ஜனங்களுடனே பேசி: பயங்காளியும் திடனற்றவனுமாயிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் சகோதரரின் இருதயத்தைத் தன் இருதயத்தைப்போலக் கரைந்துபோகப்பண்ணாதபடிக்கு, தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போகக்கடவன் என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.

8. And let the officers speake further vnto the people, and say: If any man feare and be faynt hearted, let hym go & returne vnto his house, lest he make his brothers heart faynt as well as his.

9. அதிபதிகள் ஜனங்களோடே பேசி முடிந்தபின்பு, ஜனங்களை நடத்தும்படி சேனைத்தலைவரை நியமிக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

9. And when the officers haue made an ende of speakyng vnto the people, they shall make captaynes of the armie to gouerne the people.

10. நீ ஒரு பட்டணத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண நெருங்கும்போது, அந்தப் பட்டணத்தாருக்குச் சமாதானம் கூறக்கடவாய்.

10. When thou commest nye vnto a citie to fyght agaynst it, offer them peace.

11. அவர்கள் உனக்குச் சமாதானமான உத்தரவு கொடுத்து, வாசலைத் திறந்தால், அதிலுள்ள ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் உனக்குப் பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களாகி, உனக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யக்கடவர்கள்.

11. And if they aunswere thee agayne peaceably, and open vnto thee, then let all the people that is founde therin, be tributaries vnto thee, and serue thee.

12. அவர்கள் உன்னோடே சமாதானப்படாமல், உன்னோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணுவார்களானால், நீ அதை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு,

12. And if they wyll make no peace with thee, but make warre agaynst thee, thou shalt besiege it.

13. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அதை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்போது, அதிலுள்ள புருஷர்கள் எல்லாரையும் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி,

13. And when the Lorde thy God hath deliuered it into thine handes, thou shalt smyte all the males therof with the edge of the sworde:

14. ஸ்திரீகளையும் குழந்தைகளையும் மிருகஜீவன்களையும் மாத்திரம் உயிரோடே வைத்து, பட்டணத்திலுள்ள எல்லாவற்றையும் கொள்ளையிட்டு, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்த உன் சத்துருக்களின் கொள்ளைப்பொருளை அநுபவிப்பாயாக.

14. But the women, and the children, and the cattell, and all that is in the citie, and all the spoyle therof shalt thou take vnto thy selfe, and eate the spoyle of thine enemies, which the Lorde thy God hath geuen thee.

15. இந்த ஜாதிகளைச்சேர்ந்த பட்டணங்களாயிராமல், உனக்கு வெகுதூரத்திலிருக்கிற சகல பட்டணங்களுக்கும் இப்படியே செய்வாயாக.

15. Thus shalt thou do vnto all the cities which are a great way of from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations.

16. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கிற ஏத்தியர், எமோரியர், கானானியர், பெரிசியர், ஏவியர், எபூசியர் என்னும் ஜனங்களின் பட்டணங்களிலேமாத்திரம் சுவாசமுள்ளதொன்றையும் உயிரோடே வைக்காமல்,

16. But of the cities of these nations which the Lorde thy God shall geue thee to inherite, thou shalt saue alyue nothyng that breatheth:

17. அவர்களை உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே சங்காரம்பண்ணக்கடவாய்.

17. But shalt destroy them without redemption, namely the Hethites, the Amorites, the Chanaanites, the Pherezites, the Heuites, and the Iebusites, as the Lorde thy God hath commaunded thee:

18. அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களுக்குச் செய்கிற தங்களுடைய சகல அருவருப்புகளின்படியே நீங்களும் செய்ய உங்களுக்குக் கற்றுக்கொடாமலும், நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்யாமலும் இருக்கும்படி இப்படிச் செய்யவேண்டும்.

18. That they teache you not to do after all their abhominations which they haue done vnto their Gods, and so ye shoulde sinne agaynst the Lorde your God.

19. நீ ஒரு பட்டணத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி அதைப் பிடிக்க அநேகநாள் அதை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டிருக்கும்போது, நீ கோடரியை ஓங்கி, அதின் மரங்களை வெட்டிச் சேதம்பண்ணாயாக; அவைகளின் கனியை நீ புசிக்கலாமே; ஆகையால் உனக்குக் கொத்தளத்திற்கு உதவும் என்று அவைகளை வெட்டாயாக; வெளியின் விருட்சங்கள் மனுஷனுடைய ஜீவனத்துக்கானவைகள்.

19. When thou hast besieged a citie long tyme, and made warre agaynst it to take it, destroy not the trees therof, that thou wouldest thrust an axe vnto them: but eate of them, and cut them not downe to further thee in thy siege: for the tree of the fielde is mans life.

20. புசிக்கிறதற்கேற்ற கனிகொடாத மரம் என்று நீ அறிந்திருக்கிற மரங்களை மாத்திரம் வெட்டியழித்து, உன்னோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிற பட்டணம் பிடிபடுமட்டும் அதற்கு எதிராகக் கொத்தளம் போடலாம்.

20. Only those trees which thou knowest to be vnfruitfull, those shalt thou destroy & cut downe, and make bulworkes agaynst the citie that maketh warre with thee, vntyll thou subdue it.
