1. யோபு பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

1. But Job answered and said,

2. என் சஞ்சலம் நிறுக்கப்பட்டு, என் நிர்ப்பந்தம் எல்லாம் தராசிலே வைக்கப்பட்டால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

2. Oh that one would indeed weigh the wrath that is upon me, and take up my grief in a balance together!

3. அப்பொழுது அது கடற்கரை மணலைப்பார்க்கிலும் பாரமாயிருக்கும்; ஆகையால் என் துக்கம் சொல்லிமுடியாது.

3. And surely they would be heavier than the sand by the seashore: but, as it seems, my words are vain.

4. சர்வவல்லவரின் அம்புகள் எனக்குள் தைத்திருக்கிறது; அவைகளின் விஷம் என் உயிரைக் குடிக்கிறது; தேவனால் உண்டாகும் பயங்கரங்கள் எனக்கு முன்பாக அணியணியாய் நிற்கிறது.

4. For the arrows of the Lord are in my body, whose violence drinks up my blood: whenever I am going to speak, they pierce me.

5. புல்லிருக்கிற இடத்திலே காட்டுக்கழுதை கத்துமோ? தனக்குத் தீவனமிருக்கிற இடத்திலே எருது கதறுமோ?

5. What then? Will the wild donkey bray for nothing, if he is not seeking food? Or again, will the ox low at the manger, when he has [his] fodder?

6. ருசியில்லாத பதார்த்தத்தை உப்பில்லாமல் சாப்பிடக்கூடுமோ? முட்டையின் வெள்ளைக்கருவில் சுவை உண்டோ?

6. Shall bread be eaten without salt? Or again, is there taste in empty words?

7. உங்கள் வார்த்தைகளை என் ஆத்துமா தொடமாட்டேன் என்கிறது; அவைகள் அரோசிகமான போஜனம்போல் இருக்கிறது.

7. For my wrath cannot cease, for I perceive my food as the smell of a lion [to be] loathsome.

8. ஆ, என் மன்றாட்டு எனக்கு அருளப்பட்டு, நான் வாஞ்சிப்பதை தேவன் எனக்குத் தந்து,

8. Oh, that He would grant [my desire], and my petition might come, and the Lord would grant my hope!

9. தேவன் என்னை நொறுக்கச் சித்தமாய், தம்முடைய கையை நீட்டி என்னைத் துண்டித்துப்போட்டால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

9. Let the Lord begin to wound me, but let Him not utterly destroy me.

10. அப்பொழுதாவது எனக்கு ஆறுதல் இருக்குமே; அப்பொழுது என்னைத் தப்பவிடாத நோவிலே மரத்திருப்பேன்; பரிசுத்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளை நான் மறைத்துவைக்கவில்லை, அவர் என்னைத் தப்பவிடாராக.

10. Let the grave be my city, upon the walls of which I have leaped: I will not shrink from it, for I have not denied the holy words of my God.

11. நான் காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்க என் பெலன் எம்மாத்திரம்? என் ஜீவனை நீடித்திருக்கப்பண்ண என் முடிவு எப்படிப்பட்டது?

11. For what is my strength, that I continue? What is my time, that my soul endures?

12. என் பெலன் கற்களின் பெலனோ? என் மாம்சம் வெண்கலமோ?

12. Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh of brass?

13. எனக்கு உதவியானது ஒன்றும் இல்லையல்லவோ? சகாயம் என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்றே.

13. Or have I not trusted in Him? But help is [far] from me.

14. உபாதிக்கப்படுகிறவனுக்கு அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனால் தயை கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; அவனோ சர்வவல்லவருக்குப் பயப்படாதே போகிறான்.

14. Mercy has rejected me; and the visitation of the Lord has disregarded me.

15. என் சகோதரர் காட்டாறுபோல மோசம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; ஆறுகளின் வெள்ளத்தைப்போலக் கடந்து போகிறார்கள்.

15. My nearest relations have not regarded me, they have passed me by like a failing brook, or like a wave.

16. அவைகள் குளிர்காலப் பனிக்கட்டியினாலும், அதில் விழுந்திருக்கிற உறைந்த மழையினாலும் கலங்கலாகி,

16. They who used to reverence me, now have come against me like snow or congealed ice.

17. உஷ்ணங்கண்டவுடனே உருகி வற்றி, அனல்பட்டவுடனே தங்கள் ஸ்தலத்தில் உருவழிந்து போகின்றன.

17. When it has melted at the approach of heat, it is not known what it was.

18. அவைகளுடைய வழிகளின் போக்குகள் இங்குமங்கும் பிரியும்; அவைகள் விருதாவிலே பரவி ஒன்றும் இல்லாமற்போகும்.

18. Thus I also have been deserted of all, and I am ruined, and have become an outcast.

19. தேமாவின் பயணக்காரர் தேடி, சேபாவின் பயணக்கூட்டங்கள் அவைகள்மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைத்து,

19. Behold the ways of the Temanites, you that mark the paths of the Sabaeans.

20. தாங்கள் இப்படி நம்பினதினாலே வெட்கப்படுகிறார்கள்; அவ்விடமட்டும் வந்து கலங்கிப்போகிறார்கள்.

20. They too that trust in cities and riches shall come to shame.

21. அப்படியே நீங்களும் இப்பொழுது ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாமற்போனீர்கள்; என் ஆபத்தைக் கண்டு பயப்படுகிறீர்கள்.

21. But you also have come to me without pity; so that beholding my wounds you are afraid.

22. எனக்கு ஏதாகிலும் கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றும், உங்கள் ஆஸ்தியிலிருந்து எனக்கு யாதொரு வெகுமானம் கொடுங்கள் என்றும்;

22. What? Have I made any demand of you? Or do I ask for strength from you,

23. அல்லது சத்துருவின் கைக்கு என்னைத் தப்புவியுங்கள், வல்லடிக்காரரின் கைக்கு என்னை நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்டுவிடுங்கள் என்றும் நான் சொன்னதுண்டோ?

23. to deliver me from enemies, or to rescue me from the hand of the mighty ones?

24. எனக்கு உபதேசம்பண்ணுங்கள், நான் மவுனமாயிருப்பேன்; நான் எதிலே தவறினேனோ அதை எனக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துங்கள்.

24. Teach me, and I will be silent: if in anything I have erred, tell me.

25. செம்மையான வார்த்தைகளில் எவ்வளவு வல்லமை உண்டு? உங்கள் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலினால் காரியம் என்ன?

25. But as it seems, the words of a true man are vain, because I do not ask strength of you.

26. கடிந்துகொள்ள நீங்கள் வார்த்தைகளை யோசித்து, நம்பிக்கையற்றவனுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் காற்றிலே விட்டுவிடுகிறீர்களோ?

26. Neither will your reproof cause me to cease my words, for neither will I endure the sound of your speech.

27. இப்படிச் செய்து திக்கற்றவன்மேல் நீங்கள் விழுந்து, உங்கள் சிநேகிதனுக்குப் படுகுழியை வெட்டுகிறீர்கள்.

27. Even because you attack the fatherless, and insult your friend.

28. இப்போதும் உங்களுக்குச் சித்தமானால் என்னை நோக்கிப் பாருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான் பொய்சொல்லுகிறேனோ என்று உங்களுக்குப் பிரத்தியட்சமாய் விளங்கும்.

28. But now, having looked upon your countenances, I will not lie.

29. நீங்கள் திரும்புங்கள்; அக்கிரமம் காணப்படாதிருக்கும்; திரும்புங்கள் என் நீதி அதிலே விளங்கும்.

29. Sit down now, and let there not be unrighteousness, and unite again with the just.

30. என் நாவிலே அக்கிரமம் உண்டோ? என் வாய் ஆகாதவைகளைப் பகுத்தறியாதோ?

30. For there is no injustice in my tongue; and does not my throat meditate understanding?
