1. இதினால் என் இருதயம் தத்தளித்து, தன்னிடத்தைவிட்டுத் தெறிக்கிறது.

1. At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.

2. அவருடைய சத்தத்தினால் உண்டாகிற அதிர்ச்சியையும், அவர் வாயிலிருந்து புறப்படுகிற முழக்கத்தையும் கவனமாய்க் கேளுங்கள்.

2. Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.

3. அவர் வானத்தின் கீழெங்கும் அந்தத் தொனியையும், பூமியின் கடையாந்தரங்கள்மேல் அதின் மின்னலையும் செல்லவிடுகிறார்.

3. His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.

4. அதற்குப்பின்பு அவர் சத்தமாய் முழங்கி, தம்முடைய மகத்துவத்தின் சத்தத்தைக் குமுறப்பண்ணுகிறார்; அவருடைய சத்தம் கேட்கப்படும்போது அதைத் தவிர்க்கமுடியாது.

4. After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderbolts until his voice resounds no more.

5. தேவன் தம்முடைய சத்தத்தை ஆச்சரியமானவிதமாய்க் குமுறப்பண்ணுகிறார்; நாம் கிரகிக்கக்கூடாத பெரிய காரியங்களை அவர் செய்கிறார்.

5. Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.

6. அவர் உறைந்த மழையையும், கல்மழையையும், தம்முடைய வல்லமையின் பெருமழையையும் பார்த்து: பூமியின்மேல் பெய்யுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிடுகிறார்.

6. When he says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth!' to the showers, 'Now rain hard!'

7. தாம் உண்டாக்கின சகல மனுஷரும் தம்மை அறியும்படிக்கு, அவர் சகல மனுஷருடைய கையையும் முத்திரித்துப்போடுகிறார்.

7. he brings all human activity to a standstill, for everyone to acknowledge his work.

8. அப்பொழுது காட்டுமிருகங்கள் தங்கள் குகைகளில் புகுந்து, தங்கள் கெபிகளில் தங்கும்.

8. The animals go back to their dens and take shelter in their lairs.

9. தெற்கேயிருந்து சூறாவளியும், வடகாற்றினால் குளிரும் வரும்.

9. The storm wind comes from the Mansion of the South, and the north winds usher in the cold.

10. தம்முடைய சுவாசத்தினால் தேவன் குளிரைக் கொடுக்கிறார்; அப்பொழுது ஜலத்தின் மேற்பரப்பானது உறைந்துபோகும்.

10. At the breath of God, ice comes next, the surface of the waters hardens over.

11. அவர் நீர்த்துளிகளை மேகத்தில் ஏற்றி, மின்னலினால் மேகத்தைச் சிதறப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

11. He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and the storm clouds radiate his lightning.

12. அவர் அவைகளுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிற யாவையும், அவைகள் பூச்சக்கரத்தில் நடப்பிக்கும்படி, அவர் அவைகளைத் தம்முடைய ஞான ஆலோசனைகளின்படியே சுற்றித் திரியப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

12. He himself guides their wheeling motion presiding over their seasonal changes. They carry out his orders to the letter all over this earthly world.

13. ஒன்றில் தண்டனையாகவும், ஒன்றில் தம்முடைய பூமிக்கு உபயோகமாகவும், ஒன்றில் கிருபையாகவும், அவைகளை வரப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

13. Whether to punish earth's peoples or as a work of faithful love, he despatches them.

14. யோபே, இதற்குச் செவிகொடும்; தரித்துநின்று தேவனுடைய ஆச்சரியமான கிரியைகளைத் தியானித்துப்பாரும்.

14. Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvellous works of God.

15. தேவன் அவைகளைத் திட்டம்பண்ணி, தம்முடைய மேகத்தின் மின்னலைப் பிரகாசிக்கப்பண்ணும் விதத்தை அறிவீரோ?

15. Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?

16. மேகங்கள் தொங்கும்படி வைக்கும் நிறையையும், பூரண ஞானமுள்ளவரின் அற்புதமான செய்கைகளையும்,

16. Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skill?

17. தென்றலினால் அவர் பூமியை அமையப்பண்ணும்போது, உம்முடைய வஸ்திரங்கள் உஷ்ணமாயிருக்கும் வகையையும் அறிவீரோ?

17. When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies still under the south wind,

18. வார்க்கப்பட்ட கண்ணாடியைப்போல் கெட்டியான ஆகாயமண்டலங்களை நீர் அவரோடேகூட இருந்து விரித்தீரோ?

18. can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?

19. அவருக்கு நாம் சொல்லத்தக்கதை எங்களுக்குப் போதியும்; அந்தகாரத்தினிமித்தம் முறைதப்பிப் பேசுகிறோம்.

19. Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.

20. நான் பேசத்துணிந்தேன் என்று யாதாமொருவன் அவருக்கு முன்பாகச் சொல்லத்தகுமோ? ஒருவன் பேசத்துணிந்தால் அவன் விழுங்கப்பட்டுப்போவானே.

20. Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?

21. இப்போதும் காற்று வீசி ஆகாய மண்டலங்களிலுள்ள மப்பு நீங்கப்பண்ணியிருக்கிறசமயத்தில் வடக்கேயிருந்து பொன்மயமான காந்தி வருகிறபோது,

21. There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweeping them away.

22. ஆகாயமண்டலத்திலே பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியனை முதலாய் ஒருவரும் நோக்கிப் பார்க்கக்கூடாதே; தேவனிடத்திலோ பயங்கரமான மகத்துவமுண்டு.

22. and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:

23. சர்வவல்லவரை நாம் கண்டுபிடிக்கக்கூடாது; அவர் வல்லமையிலும் நியாயத்திலும் பெருத்தவர்; அவர் மகா நீதிபரர்; அவர் ஒடுக்கமாட்டார்.

23. he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excelling in saving justice, yet no oppressor-

24. ஆகையால் மனுஷர் அவருக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டும்; தங்கள் எண்ணத்தில் ஞானிகளாயிருக்கிற எவர்களையும் அவர் மதிக்கமாட்டார் என்றான்.

24. no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!
