1. யோபே, என் நியாயங்களைக் கேளும்; என் வார்த்தைகளுக்கெல்லாம் செவிகொடும்.

1. But, in very deed, hear, I pray thee, Job, my discourse, and, to all my words, give thou ear.

2. இதோ, என் வாயை இப்போது திறந்தேன்; என் வாயிலிருக்கிற என் நாவானது பேசும்.

2. Lo! I pray thee, I have opened my mouth, My tongue, with my palate, hath spoken,

3. என் வார்த்தைகள் என் இருதயத்தின் உண்மைக்கு ஒத்திருக்கும்; நான் அறிந்ததை என் உதடுகள் சுத்தமாய் வசனிக்கும்.

3. Mine utterances come straight from mine own heart, and, what I know, my lips have truly spoken;

4. தேவனுடைய ஆவியானவர் என்னை உண்டாக்கினார்; சர்வவல்லவருடைய சுவாசம் எனக்கு உயிர்கொடுத்தது.

4. The spirit of GOD, hath made me, and, the inspiration of the Almighty, giveth me life.

5. உம்மாலே கூடுமானால் எனக்கு மறுமொழி கொடும்; நீர் ஆயத்தப்பட்டு எனக்கு எதிராக நில்லும்.

5. If thou art able to answer me, Set in order before me take thy stand!

6. இதோ, உம்மைப்போல நானும் தேவனால் உண்டானவன்; நானும் மண்ணினால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டவன்.

6. Lo! I am like thyself toward GOD, From clay, have I been nipped off, even I!

7. இதோ, நீர் எனக்குப் பயப்பட்டுக் கலங்கத் தேவையில்லை; என் கை உம்மேல் பாரமாயிருக்கமாட்டாது.

7. Lo! my terror, will not startle thee, nor, my hand, upon thee, be heavy.

8. நான் காதாரக் கேட்க நீர் சொன்னதும், எனக்குக் கேள்வியான உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தமும் என்னவென்றால்:

8. But thou hast spoken in mine ears, and, the sound of words, I heard:

9. நான் மீறுதல் இல்லாத சுத்தன், நான் குற்றமற்றவன், என்னில் அக்கிரமமில்லை.

9. Pure am, I, without transgression, Clean am, I, and have no iniquity;

10. இதோ, என்னில் அவர் குற்றம்பிடிக்கப்பார்க்கிறார், என்னைத் தமக்குச் சத்துருவாக எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்.

10. Lo! occasions of hostility, would he find against me, He counteth me an enemy to him;

11. அவர் என் கால்களைத் தொழுவிலே மாட்டி, என் நடைகளையெல்லாம் காவல்படுத்துகிறார் என்று சொன்னீர்.

11. He putteth in the stocks my feet, He watcheth all my paths.

12. இதிலே நீர் நீதியுள்ளவர் அல்லவென்று உமக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாகச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; மனுஷனைப்பார்க்கிலும் தேவன் பெரியவராயிருக்கிறார்.

12. Lo! in this, thou hast not been right let me answer thee, For, GOD, is greater than, man.

13. அவர் தம்முடைய செயல்கள் எல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்துக் காரணம் சொல்லவில்லையென்று நீர் அவரோடே ஏன் வழக்காடுகிறீர்?

13. Wherefore, against him, hast thou contended? For, with none of his reasons, will he respond.

14. தேவன் ஒருவிசை சொல்லியிருக்கிற காரியத்தை இரண்டாம்விசை பார்த்துத் திருத்துகிறவரல்லவே.

14. For, in one way, GOD may speak, and, in a second way, one may not heed it:

15. கனநித்திரை மனுஷர்மேல் இறங்கி, அவர்கள் படுக்கையின்மேல் அயர்ந்திருக்கையில்,

15. In a dream, a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed,

16. அவர் இராக்காலத்துத் தரிசனமான சொப்பனத்திலே மனுஷருடைய செவிக்குத் தாம் செய்யும் காரியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தி, அதை அவர்களுக்கு வரும் தண்டனையினாலே முத்திரைபோட்டு,

16. Then, uncovereth he the ear of men, and, on their correction, affixeth a seal;

17. மனுஷன் தன்னுடைய செய்கையைவிட்டு நீங்கவும், மனுஷருடைய பெருமை அடங்கவும் செய்கிறார்.

17. To turn a son of earth from his deed, while yet, pride, from man he concealeth:

18. இவ்விதமாய் அவன் ஆத்துமாவைப் படுகுழிக்கும், அவன் ஜீவனைப் பட்டய வெட்டுக்கும் தப்புவிக்கிறார்.

18. He keepeth back his said from the pit, and his life from passing away by a weapon.

19. அவன் தன் படுக்கையிலே வாதையினாலும், தன் சகல எலும்புகளிலும் அகோரமான நோவினாலும் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறான்.

19. Or he is chastised with pain, upon his bed, and, the strife of his bones, is unceasing!

20. அவன் ஜீவன் அப்பத்தையும், அவன் ஆத்துமா ருசிகரமான போஜனத்தையும் அரோசிக்கும்.

20. So that his life maketh loathsome his food, and his soul, dainty meat;

21. அவன் மாம்சம் காணப்படாதபடிக்கு அழிந்து, மூடப்பட்டிருந்த அவன் எலும்புகள் வெளிப்படுகிறது.

21. His flesh wasteth away out of sight, and bared are the bones once unseen;

22. அவன் ஆத்துமா பாதாளத்துக்கும், அவன் பிராணன் சாவுக்கும் சமீபிக்கிறது.

22. So doth his soul draw near to the pit, and his life to the inflicters of death:

23. ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவராகிய சாமாசிபண்ணுகிற தூதனானவர் மனுஷனுக்குத் தம்முடைய நிதானத்தை அறிவிக்கும்படிக்கு, அவனுக்கு அநுசாரியாயிருந்தாரேயாகில்,

23. If there hath been near him a messenger who could interpret one of a thousand, to declare to the son of earth His uprightness,

24. அவர் அவனுக்கு இரங்கி, அவன் படுகுழியில் இறங்காதபடிக்கு: நீர் அவனை இரட்சியும்; மீட்கும் பொருளை நான் கண்டுபிடித்தேன் என்பார்.

24. Then hath he shewed him favour, and said, Set him free from going down to the pit, I have found a price of redemption!

25. அப்பொழுது அவன் மாம்சம் வாலிபத்தில் இருந்ததைப்பார்க்கிலும் ஆரோக்கியமடையும்; தன் வாலவயது நாட்களுக்குத் திரும்புவான்.

25. His flesh hath been made fresher than a child's, he hath returned to the days of his youth;

26. அவன் தேவனை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணும்போது, அவன் அவருடைய சமுகத்தைக் கெம்பீரத்தோடே பார்க்கும்படி அவர் அவன்மேல் பிரியமாகி, அந்த மனுஷனுக்கு அவனுடைய நீதியின் பலனைக் கொடுப்பார்.

26. He made supplication unto GOD, who hath accepted him, and he hath beheld his face with a shout of triumph, Thus hath he given back to man his righteousness.

27. அவன் மனுஷரை நோக்கிப் பார்த்து: நான் பாவஞ்செய்து செம்மையானதைப் புரட்டினேன், அது எனக்குப் பிரயோஜனமாயிருக்கவில்லை.

27. He sang before men, and said, I sinned, and, uprightness, I perverted, yet he requited me not;

28. என் ஆத்துமா படுகுழியில் இறங்காதபடி, அவர் அதை இரட்சிப்பார்; ஆகையால் என் பிராணன் வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணும் என்று சொல்லுவான்.

28. He hath ransomed my soul from passing away into the pit, and, my life, in the light, shall have vision.

29. இதோ, தேவன் மனுஷனுடைய ஆத்துமாவைப் படுகுழிக்கு விலக்குகிறதற்கும், அவனை ஜீவனுள்ளோரின் வெளிச்சத்தினாலே பிரகாசிப்பிக்கிறதற்கும்,

29. Lo! a these things, doth GOD work, two ways, three, with a man;

30. அவர் இவைகளையெல்லாம் அவனிடத்தில் பலமுறை நடப்பிக்கிறார்.

30. To bring back his soul from the pit, to enlighten with the light of the living.

31. யோபே, நீர் கவனித்து என் சொல்லைக் கேளும்; நான் பேசப்போகிறேன், நீர் மவுனமாயிரும்.

31. Mark well, O Job, and hearken to me, Be silent, and, I, will speak:

32. சொல்லத்தக்க நியாயங்கள் இருந்ததேயானால், எனக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு கொடும்; நீர் பேசும், உம்மை நீதிமானாகத் தீர்க்க எனக்கு ஆசையுண்டு.

32. If there is anything to say, reply to me, Speak, for I desire to justify thee;

33. ஒன்றும் இல்லாதிருந்ததேயாகில் நீர் என் சொல்லைக் கேளும், மவுனமாயிரும், நான் உமக்கு ஞானத்தை உபதேசிப்பேன் என்றான்.

33. If not, do, thou, hearken unto me, Be silent, that I may teach thee wisdom.
