1. யோபே, என் நியாயங்களைக் கேளும்; என் வார்த்தைகளுக்கெல்லாம் செவிகொடும்.

1. 'But now, Job, hear what I say. Listen to all my words.

2. இதோ, என் வாயை இப்போது திறந்தேன்; என் வாயிலிருக்கிற என் நாவானது பேசும்.

2. See, I open my mouth. My tongue in my mouth wants to speak.

3. என் வார்த்தைகள் என் இருதயத்தின் உண்மைக்கு ஒத்திருக்கும்; நான் அறிந்ததை என் உதடுகள் சுத்தமாய் வசனிக்கும்.

3. My words come from my heart that is right. My lips speak in truth what I know.

4. தேவனுடைய ஆவியானவர் என்னை உண்டாக்கினார்; சர்வவல்லவருடைய சுவாசம் எனக்கு உயிர்கொடுத்தது.

4. The Spirit of God has made me. And the breath of the All-powerful gives me life.

5. உம்மாலே கூடுமானால் எனக்கு மறுமொழி கொடும்; நீர் ஆயத்தப்பட்டு எனக்கு எதிராக நில்லும்.

5. Prove me wrong if you can. Get ready to answer me, and take your stand.

6. இதோ, உம்மைப்போல நானும் தேவனால் உண்டானவன்; நானும் மண்ணினால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டவன்.

6. See, I belong to God like you. I also have been made from the clay.

7. இதோ, நீர் எனக்குப் பயப்பட்டுக் கலங்கத் தேவையில்லை; என் கை உம்மேல் பாரமாயிருக்கமாட்டாது.

7. See, you have no reason to be afraid of me. I should not make it hard for you.

8. நான் காதாரக் கேட்க நீர் சொன்னதும், எனக்குக் கேள்வியான உம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தமும் என்னவென்றால்:

8. For sure you have spoken in my hearing. I have heard all you have said.

9. நான் மீறுதல் இல்லாத சுத்தன், நான் குற்றமற்றவன், என்னில் அக்கிரமமில்லை.

9. You said, 'I am pure and without sin. I am not guilty, and there is no sin in me.

10. இதோ, என்னில் அவர் குற்றம்பிடிக்கப்பார்க்கிறார், என்னைத் தமக்குச் சத்துருவாக எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்.

10. But see, God finds things against me. He thinks of me as someone who hates Him.

11. அவர் என் கால்களைத் தொழுவிலே மாட்டி, என் நடைகளையெல்லாம் காவல்படுத்துகிறார் என்று சொன்னீர்.

11. He puts my feet in chains, and watches all my paths.'

12. இதிலே நீர் நீதியுள்ளவர் அல்லவென்று உமக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாகச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; மனுஷனைப்பார்க்கிலும் தேவன் பெரியவராயிருக்கிறார்.

12. See, I tell you, in this you are not right. For God is greater than man.

13. அவர் தம்முடைய செயல்கள் எல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்துக் காரணம் சொல்லவில்லையென்று நீர் அவரோடே ஏன் வழக்காடுகிறீர்?

13. Why do you complain against Him? He does not give a reason for all He does.

14. தேவன் ஒருவிசை சொல்லியிருக்கிற காரியத்தை இரண்டாம்விசை பார்த்துத் திருத்துகிறவரல்லவே.

14. For God speaks once, or twice, and yet no one listens.

15. கனநித்திரை மனுஷர்மேல் இறங்கி, அவர்கள் படுக்கையின்மேல் அயர்ந்திருக்கையில்,

15. In a dream, a special dream of the night, when deep sleep comes upon men, while they sleep in their beds,

16. அவர் இராக்காலத்துத் தரிசனமான சொப்பனத்திலே மனுஷருடைய செவிக்குத் தாம் செய்யும் காரியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்தி, அதை அவர்களுக்கு வரும் தண்டனையினாலே முத்திரைபோட்டு,

16. then He opens the ears of men. He teaches them and makes them afraid telling them of danger,

17. மனுஷன் தன்னுடைய செய்கையைவிட்டு நீங்கவும், மனுஷருடைய பெருமை அடங்கவும் செய்கிறார்.

17. that He may turn man away from wrong-doing and keep him from pride.

18. இவ்விதமாய் அவன் ஆத்துமாவைப் படுகுழிக்கும், அவன் ஜீவனைப் பட்டய வெட்டுக்கும் தப்புவிக்கிறார்.

18. He keeps his soul from going to the place of the dead. And He keeps his life from being destroyed by the sword.

19. அவன் தன் படுக்கையிலே வாதையினாலும், தன் சகல எலும்புகளிலும் அகோரமான நோவினாலும் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறான்.

19. 'Man is also punished with pain on his bed and has pain all the time in his bones.

20. அவன் ஜீவன் அப்பத்தையும், அவன் ஆத்துமா ருசிகரமான போஜனத்தையும் அரோசிக்கும்.

20. So he hates bread, and has no desire for fine foods.

21. அவன் மாம்சம் காணப்படாதபடிக்கு அழிந்து, மூடப்பட்டிருந்த அவன் எலும்புகள் வெளிப்படுகிறது.

21. His flesh is so wasted away that it cannot be seen. His bones which were not seen stick out.

22. அவன் ஆத்துமா பாதாளத்துக்கும், அவன் பிராணன் சாவுக்கும் சமீபிக்கிறது.

22. His soul comes close to the grave, and his life to those who bring death.

23. ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவராகிய சாமாசிபண்ணுகிற தூதனானவர் மனுஷனுக்குத் தம்முடைய நிதானத்தை அறிவிக்கும்படிக்கு, அவனுக்கு அநுசாரியாயிருந்தாரேயாகில்,

23. 'If there is an angel, one out of a thousand, to speak with God for him, and to show a man what is right for him,

24. அவர் அவனுக்கு இரங்கி, அவன் படுகுழியில் இறங்காதபடிக்கு: நீர் அவனை இரட்சியும்; மீட்கும் பொருளை நான் கண்டுபிடித்தேன் என்பார்.

24. then let him be kind to him, and say, 'Save him from going down to the grave. I have found someone to pay the price to make him free.

25. அப்பொழுது அவன் மாம்சம் வாலிபத்தில் இருந்ததைப்பார்க்கிலும் ஆரோக்கியமடையும்; தன் வாலவயது நாட்களுக்குத் திரும்புவான்.

25. Let his flesh become young again. Let him return to the days when he was young and strong.'

26. அவன் தேவனை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணும்போது, அவன் அவருடைய சமுகத்தைக் கெம்பீரத்தோடே பார்க்கும்படி அவர் அவன்மேல் பிரியமாகி, அந்த மனுஷனுக்கு அவனுடைய நீதியின் பலனைக் கொடுப்பார்.

26. Then he will pray to God, and God will be pleased with him. He will see His face with joy. And God will make man right with Him again.

27. அவன் மனுஷரை நோக்கிப் பார்த்து: நான் பாவஞ்செய்து செம்மையானதைப் புரட்டினேன், அது எனக்குப் பிரயோஜனமாயிருக்கவில்லை.

27. He will sing to men and say, 'I have sinned and have not done what is right, but He did not punish me.

28. என் ஆத்துமா படுகுழியில் இறங்காதபடி, அவர் அதை இரட்சிப்பார்; ஆகையால் என் பிராணன் வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணும் என்று சொல்லுவான்.

28. He has kept my soul from going to the grave. And my life will see the light.'

29. இதோ, தேவன் மனுஷனுடைய ஆத்துமாவைப் படுகுழிக்கு விலக்குகிறதற்கும், அவனை ஜீவனுள்ளோரின் வெளிச்சத்தினாலே பிரகாசிப்பிக்கிறதற்கும்,

29. 'See, God does all these things twice, even three times, to a man,

30. அவர் இவைகளையெல்லாம் அவனிடத்தில் பலமுறை நடப்பிக்கிறார்.

30. to turn back his soul from the grave, that he may see the light of life.

31. யோபே, நீர் கவனித்து என் சொல்லைக் கேளும்; நான் பேசப்போகிறேன், நீர் மவுனமாயிரும்.

31. Hear what I say, O Job, listen to me. Be quiet and let me speak.

32. சொல்லத்தக்க நியாயங்கள் இருந்ததேயானால், எனக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு கொடும்; நீர் பேசும், உம்மை நீதிமானாகத் தீர்க்க எனக்கு ஆசையுண்டு.

32. If you have anything to say, answer me. Speak, for I want to make you right with God.

33. ஒன்றும் இல்லாதிருந்ததேயாகில் நீர் என் சொல்லைக் கேளும், மவுனமாயிரும், நான் உமக்கு ஞானத்தை உபதேசிப்பேன் என்றான்.

33. If not, listen to me. Be quiet, and I will teach you wisdom.'
