1. அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாசுடைய இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருஷத்தில் யெகூவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாகாஸ் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் சமாரியாவிலே பதினேழுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

1. In the twenty and third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, hath Jehoahaz son of Jehu reigned over Israel, in Samaria -- seventeen years,

2. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களைப் பின்பற்றி நடந்தான்; அவைகளை விட்டு அவன் விலகவில்லை.

2. and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and goeth after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin -- he turned not aside from it,

3. ஆகையால் கர்த்தருக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டு, அவர்களைச் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலின் கையிலும் ஆசகேலின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலும் அந்நாட்களிலெல்லாம் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

3. and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days.

4. யோவாகாஸ் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தை நோக்கிப் பிரார்த்தித்தான்; சீரியாவின் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்குகிறதினால் அவர்கள் ஒடுங்கிப்போகிறதைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தார்.

4. And Jehoahaz appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah hearkeneth unto him, for He hath seen the oppression of Israel, for oppressed them hath the king of Aram, --

5. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு ஒரு ரட்சகனைக் கொடுத்ததினால், அவர்கள் சீரியருடைய கையின்கீழிருந்து நீங்கலானார்கள்; ஆதலால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் முன்போல் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

5. and Jehovah giveth to Israel a saviour, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as heretofore;

6. ஆகிலும் இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின யெரொபெயாம் வீட்டாரின் பாவங்களை அவர்கள் விட்டு விலகாமல் அதிலே நடந்தார்கள்; சமாரியாவிலிருந்த விக்கிரகத்தோப்பும் நிலையாயிருந்தது.

6. only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine hath remained in Samaria, --

7. யோவாகாசுக்குச் சீரியாவின் ராஜா, ஐம்பது குதிரைவீரரையும், பத்து இரதங்களையும், பதினாயிரம் காலாட்களையுமே அல்லாமல், ஜனங்களில் வேறொன்றும் மீதியாக வைக்கவில்லை; அவன் அவர்களை அழித்துப் போரடிக்கும் இடத்துத் தூளைப்போல ஆக்கிப்போட்டான்.

7. for he left not to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram hath destroyed them, and maketh them as dust for threshing.

8. யோவாகாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், அவனுடைய வல்லமையும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

8. And the rest of the matters of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

9. யோவாகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், அவனைச் சமாரியாவிலே அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

9. And Jehoahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in Samaria, and reign doth Joash his son in his stead.

10. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசுடைய முப்பத்தேழாம் வருஷத்தில் யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி சமாரியாவிலே பதினாறுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

10. In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah reigned hath Jehoash son of Jehoahaz over Israel, in Samaria -- sixteen years,

11. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களை விட்டு விலகாமல் அவைகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்.

11. and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, he hath not turned aside from all the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, that he caused Israel to sin, therein he walked.

12. யோவாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், அவன் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய அமத்சியாவோடு அவன் யுத்தம்பண்ணின வல்லமையும், இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

12. And the rest of the matters of Joash, and all that he did, and his might with which he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

13. யோவாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், யெரொபெயாம் அவன் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருந்தான்; யோவாஸ் சமாரியாவில் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

13. And Joash lieth with his fathers, and Jeroboam hath sat on his throne, and Joash is buried in Samaria, with the kings of Israel.

14. அவன் நாட்களில் எலிசா மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவான வியாதியாய்க் கிடந்தான்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் அவனிடத்துக்குப் போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து, அழுது: என் தகப்பனே, என் தகப்பனே, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு இரதமும் குதிரைவீரருமாயிருந்தவரே என்றான்.

14. And Elisha hath been sick with his sickness in which he dieth, and come down unto him doth Joash king of Israel, and weepeth on his face, and saith, 'My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and its horsemen.'

15. எலிசா அவனைப் பார்த்து: வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடியும் என்றான்; அப்படியே வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

15. And Elisha saith to him, 'Take bow and arrows:' and he taketh unto him bow and arrows.

16. அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய கையை வில்லின்மேல் வையும் என்றான்; அவன் தன் கையை வைத்தபோது, எலிசா தன் கைகளை ராஜாவுடைய கைகள்மேல் வைத்து:

16. And he saith to the king of Israel, 'Place thy hand on the bow;' and he placeth his hand, and Elisha putteth his hands on the hands of the king,

17. கிழக்கே இருக்கிற ஜன்னலைத் திறவும் என்றான்; அவன் அதைத் திறந்தபோது, எலிசா: எய்யும் என்றான்; இவன் எய்தபோது, அவன்: அது கர்த்தருடைய ரட்சிப்பின் அம்பும், சீரியரினின்று விடுதலையாக்கும் ரட்சிப்பின் அம்புமானது; நீர் ஆப்பெக்கிலே சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

17. and saith, 'Open the window eastward;' and he openeth, and Elisha saith, 'Shoot,' and he shooteth; and he saith, 'An arrow of salvation to Jehovah, and an arrow of salvation against Aram, and thou hast smitten Aram, in Aphek, till consuming.'

18. பின்பு அம்புகளைப் பிடியும் என்றான்; அவைகளைப் பிடித்தான். அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: தரையிலே அடியும் என்றான்; அவன் மூன்று தரம் அடித்து நின்றான்.

18. And he saith, 'Take the arrows,' and he taketh; and he saith to the king of Israel, 'Smite to the earth;' and he smiteth three times, and stayeth.

19. அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் அவன்மேல் கோபமாகி: நீர் ஐந்து ஆறுவிசை அடித்தீரானால், அப்பொழுது சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர்; இப்பொழுதோ சீரியரை மூன்றுவிசை மாத்திரம் முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

19. And the man of God is wroth against him, and saith, 'By smiting five or six times then thou hadst smitten Aram till consuming; and now, three times thou dost smite Aram.'

20. எலிசா மரணமடைந்தான்; அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; மறுவருஷத்திலே மோவாபியரின் தண்டுகள் தேசத்திலே வந்தது.

20. And Elisha dieth, and they bury him, and troops of Moab come in to the land, at the coming in of the year,

21. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள், ஒரு மனுஷனை அடக்கம்பண்ணப்போகையில், அந்தத் தண்டைக் கண்டு, அந்த மனுஷனை எலிசாவின் கல்லறையில் போட்டார்கள்; அந்த மனுஷனின் பிரேதம் அதிலே விழுந்து எலிசாவின் எலும்புகளின்மேல் பட்டபோது, அந்த மனுஷன் உயிரடைந்து தன் கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்திருந்தான்.

21. and it cometh to pass, they are burying a man, and lo, they have seen the troop, and cast the man into the grave of Elisha, and the man goeth and cometh against the bones of Elisha, and liveth, and riseth on his feet.

22. யோவாகாசின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்கினான்.

22. And Hazael king of Aram hath oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz,

23. ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு இரங்கி, ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களோடு செய்த தமது உடன்படிக்கையினிமித்தம் அவர்களை அழிக்கச் சித்தமாயிராமலும், அவர்களை இன்னும் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளாமலும் அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களை நினைத்தருளினார்.

23. and Jehovah doth favour them, and pity them, and turn unto them, for the sake of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and hath not been willing to destroy them, nor to cast them from His presence as yet.

24. சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இறந்துபோய், அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத் அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவான பின்பு,

24. And Hazael king of Aram dieth, and reign doth Ben-Hadad his son in his stead,

25. யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், ஆசகேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணி, தன் தகப்பனாகிய யோவாகாசின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொண்ட பட்டணங்களை அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலிருந்து திரும்பப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; மூன்று விசை யோவாஸ் அவனை முறிய அடித்து இஸ்ரவேலின் பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பக் கட்டிக்கொண்டான்.

25. and Jehoash son of Jehoahaz turneth and taketh the cities out of the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael that he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father in war; three times hath Joash smitten him, and he bringeth back the cities of Israel.
