1. அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாசுடைய இருபத்துமூன்றாம் வருஷத்தில் யெகூவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாகாஸ் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் சமாரியாவிலே பதினேழுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

1. It was in the twenty-third year of Yo'ash the son of Achazyah, king of Y'hudah, that Y'ho'achaz the son of Yehu began his reign over Isra'el in Shomron; he ruled for seventeen years.

2. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களைப் பின்பற்றி நடந்தான்; அவைகளை விட்டு அவன் விலகவில்லை.

2. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective; he followed the sins of Yarov'am the son of N'vat, who made Isra'el sin; and he never ceased committing those sins.

3. ஆகையால் கர்த்தருக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டு, அவர்களைச் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலின் கையிலும் ஆசகேலின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலும் அந்நாட்களிலெல்லாம் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

3. ADONAI's anger burned against Isra'el, and he kept handing them over to Haza'el king of Aram and Ben-Hadad the son of Haza'el.

4. யோவாகாஸ் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தை நோக்கிப் பிரார்த்தித்தான்; சீரியாவின் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்குகிறதினால் அவர்கள் ஒடுங்கிப்போகிறதைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தார்.

4. But Y'ho'achaz pleaded to ADONAI, and ADONAI listened to him, because he saw the oppression the king of Aram was inflicting on Isra'el.

5. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு ஒரு ரட்சகனைக் கொடுத்ததினால், அவர்கள் சீரியருடைய கையின்கீழிருந்து நீங்கலானார்கள்; ஆதலால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் முன்போல் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

5. So ADONAI gave Isra'el a savior who freed them from the grip of Aram, so that the people of Isra'el could live in their tents, as they had before.

6. ஆகிலும் இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின யெரொபெயாம் வீட்டாரின் பாவங்களை அவர்கள் விட்டு விலகாமல் அதிலே நடந்தார்கள்; சமாரியாவிலிருந்த விக்கிரகத்தோப்பும் நிலையாயிருந்தது.

6. Despite that, instead of turning from the sins of the house of Yarov'am, who made Isra'el sin, they continued to live in this sinful way. Moreover, the [asherah] continued to stand in Shomron.

7. யோவாகாசுக்குச் சீரியாவின் ராஜா, ஐம்பது குதிரைவீரரையும், பத்து இரதங்களையும், பதினாயிரம் காலாட்களையுமே அல்லாமல், ஜனங்களில் வேறொன்றும் மீதியாக வைக்கவில்லை; அவன் அவர்களை அழித்துப் போரடிக்கும் இடத்துத் தூளைப்போல ஆக்கிப்போட்டான்.

7. The king of Aram destroyed Y'ho'achaz's army, making them like chaff when grain is threshed, except for fifty horsemen, ten chariots and 10,000 foot soldiers.

8. யோவாகாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், அவனுடைய வல்லமையும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

8. Other activities of Y'ho'achaz, all his accomplishments and his power are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Isra'el.

9. யோவாகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், அவனைச் சமாரியாவிலே அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

9. Y'ho'achaz slept with his ancestors, and they buried him in Shomron. Then Yo'ash his son took his place as king.

10. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசுடைய முப்பத்தேழாம் வருஷத்தில் யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி சமாரியாவிலே பதினாறுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

10. It was in the thirty-seventh year of Yo'ash king of Y'hudah that Yo'ash the son of Y'ho'achaz began his rule over Isra'el in Shomron; he ruled for sixteen years.

11. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களை விட்டு விலகாமல் அவைகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்.

11. He did what was evil from ADONAI's perspective and did not turn from all the sins of Yarov'am the son of N'vat, who made Isra'el sin; on the contrary, he lived in this sinful way.

12. யோவாசின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், அவன் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய அமத்சியாவோடு அவன் யுத்தம்பண்ணின வல்லமையும், இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

12. Other activities of Yo'ash, all his accomplishments and his power in fighting Amatzyah king of Y'hudah are recorded in the Annals of the Kings of Isra'el.

13. யோவாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், யெரொபெயாம் அவன் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருந்தான்; யோவாஸ் சமாரியாவில் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

13. Yo'ash slept with his ancestors, and Yarov'am occupied his throne. Yo'ash was buried in Shomron with the kings of Isra'el.

14. அவன் நாட்களில் எலிசா மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவான வியாதியாய்க் கிடந்தான்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் அவனிடத்துக்குப் போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து, அழுது: என் தகப்பனே, என் தகப்பனே, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு இரதமும் குதிரைவீரருமாயிருந்தவரே என்றான்.

14. Elisha was now ill with the disease from which he would eventually die. Yo'ash the king of Isra'el came down to visit him and wept over him; he said, 'My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Isra'el!'

15. எலிசா அவனைப் பார்த்து: வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடியும் என்றான்; அப்படியே வில்லையும் அம்புகளையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.

15. Elisha said to him, 'Bring a bow and arrows'; and he brought him a bow and arrows.

16. அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய கையை வில்லின்மேல் வையும் என்றான்; அவன் தன் கையை வைத்தபோது, எலிசா தன் கைகளை ராஜாவுடைய கைகள்மேல் வைத்து:

16. He said to the king of Isra'el, 'Put your hand on the bow'; and he put his hand on it. Then Elisha laid his hands on the king's hands

17. கிழக்கே இருக்கிற ஜன்னலைத் திறவும் என்றான்; அவன் அதைத் திறந்தபோது, எலிசா: எய்யும் என்றான்; இவன் எய்தபோது, அவன்: அது கர்த்தருடைய ரட்சிப்பின் அம்பும், சீரியரினின்று விடுதலையாக்கும் ரட்சிப்பின் அம்புமானது; நீர் ஆப்பெக்கிலே சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

17. and said, 'Open the east window.' He opened it. Elisha said, 'Shoot'; and he shot. He said, 'ADONAI's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory against Aram! You will defeat Aram completely at Afek!'

18. பின்பு அம்புகளைப் பிடியும் என்றான்; அவைகளைப் பிடித்தான். அப்பொழுது அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: தரையிலே அடியும் என்றான்; அவன் மூன்று தரம் அடித்து நின்றான்.

18. He said, 'Take the arrows'; and he took them. He told the king of Isra'el, 'Strike the ground.' He struck three times, then stopped.

19. அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் அவன்மேல் கோபமாகி: நீர் ஐந்து ஆறுவிசை அடித்தீரானால், அப்பொழுது சீரியரைத் தீர முறிய அடிப்பீர்; இப்பொழுதோ சீரியரை மூன்றுவிசை மாத்திரம் முறிய அடிப்பீர் என்றான்.

19. The man of God became angry with him; he said, 'You should have struck five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram completely. As it is, you will defeat Aram only three times.'

20. எலிசா மரணமடைந்தான்; அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; மறுவருஷத்திலே மோவாபியரின் தண்டுகள் தேசத்திலே வந்தது.

20. Elisha died, and they placed him in a burial cave. Now the raiding parties of Mo'av used to make yearly incursions into the land at the start of the year.

21. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள், ஒரு மனுஷனை அடக்கம்பண்ணப்போகையில், அந்தத் தண்டைக் கண்டு, அந்த மனுஷனை எலிசாவின் கல்லறையில் போட்டார்கள்; அந்த மனுஷனின் பிரேதம் அதிலே விழுந்து எலிசாவின் எலும்புகளின்மேல் பட்டபோது, அந்த மனுஷன் உயிரடைந்து தன் கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்திருந்தான்.

21. Once it happened that just as they were burying a man, they spotted a raiding party; so they threw the man's body into Elisha's burial cave; and the moment the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.

22. யோவாகாசின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இஸ்ரவேலை ஒடுக்கினான்.

22. Haza'el king of Aram oppressed Isra'el throughout the lifetime of Y'ho'achaz;

23. ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு இரங்கி, ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களோடு செய்த தமது உடன்படிக்கையினிமித்தம் அவர்களை அழிக்கச் சித்தமாயிராமலும், அவர்களை இன்னும் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளாமலும் அவர்கள்மேல் மனதுருகி, அவர்களை நினைத்தருளினார்.

23. but ADONAI was gracious, took pity on them and looked on them with favor, because of his covenant with Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov. He was not willing to destroy them, and to this day he has not banished them from his presence.

24. சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேல் இறந்துபோய், அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத் அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவான பின்பு,

24. Haza'el king of Aram died, and Ben-Hadad his son took his place as king.

25. யோவாகாசின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாஸ், ஆசகேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணி, தன் தகப்பனாகிய யோவாகாசின் கையிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொண்ட பட்டணங்களை அவன் குமாரனாகிய பெனாதாத்தின் கையிலிருந்து திரும்பப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; மூன்று விசை யோவாஸ் அவனை முறிய அடித்து இஸ்ரவேலின் பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பக் கட்டிக்கொண்டான்.

25. Then Y'ho'ash the son of Y'ho'achaz captured from Ben-Hadad the son of Haza'el the cities which he had captured in war from Y'ho'achaz his father. Three times Yo'ash defeated him, thus recovering the cities of Isra'el.
