1. ஏகூத் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் திரும்பக் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்துவந்தார்கள்.

1. Once Ehud was dead, the Israelites again began doing what is evil in Yahweh's eyes,

2. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களை ஆத்சோரில் ஆளுகிற யாபீன் என்னும் கானானியருடைய ராஜாவின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்; அவனுடைய சேனாபதிக்குச் சிசெரா என்று பேர்; அவன் புறஜாதிகளுடைய பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

2. and Yahweh handed them over to Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned at Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Haroshet-ha-Goiim.

3. அவனுக்குத் தொளாயிரம் இருப்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தது; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை இருபது வருஷம் கொடுமையாய் ஒடுக்கினான்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள்.

3. The Israelites then cried to Yahweh; for Jabin had nine hundred iron chariots and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years.

4. அக்காலத்திலே லபிதோத்தின் மனைவியாகிய தெபொராள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவள் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தாள்.

4. Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at the time.

5. அவள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசமான ராமாவுக்கும் பெத்தேலுக்கும் நடுவிலிருக்கிற தெபொராளின் பேரீச்சமரத்தின்கீழே குடியிருந்தாள்; அங்கே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவளிடத்திற்கு நியாயவிசாரணைக்குப் போவார்கள்.

5. She used to sit under Deborah's Palm between Ramah and Bethel in the highlands of Ephraim, and the Israelites would come to her for justice.

6. அவள் நப்தலியிலுள்ள கேதேசிலிருக்கிற அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக்கை வரவழைத்து: நீ நப்தலி புத்திரரிலும், செபுலோன் புத்திரரிலும் பதினாயிரம்பேரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, தாபோர் மலைக்குப் போகக்கடவாய் என்றும்,

6. She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, 'Has not Yahweh, God of Israel, commanded, 'Go! March to Mount Tabor and with you take ten thousand of the sons of Naphtali and the sons of Zebulun.

7. I shall entice Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, to encounter you at the Torrent of Kishon with his chariots and troops; and I shall put him into your power'? '

8. அதற்குப் பாராக்: நீ என்னோடேகூட வந்தால் போவேன்; என்னோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நான் போகமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

8. Barak replied, 'If you come with me, I shall go; if you will not come, I shall not go, for I do not know how to choose the day when the angel of Yahweh will grant me success.'

9. அதற்கு அவள்: நான் உன்னோடேகூட நிச்சமாய் வருவேன்; ஆனாலும் நீ போகிற பிரயாணத்தில் உண்டாகிற மேன்மை உனக்குக் கிடையாது; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை ஒரு ஸ்திரீயின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, தெபொராள் எழும்பி, பாராக்கோடேகூடக் கேதேசுக்குப் போனாள்.

9. 'I shall go with you then,' she said, 'but, the way you are going about it, the glory will not be yours; for Yahweh will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.' Deborah then stood up and went with Barak to Kedesh.

10. அப்பொழுது பாராக்: செபுலோன் மனுஷரையும் நப்தலி மனுஷரையும் கேதேசுக்கு வரவழைத்து, தன்னைப் பின்செல்லும் பதினாயிரம்பேரோடே போனான்; தெபொராளும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனாள்.

10. Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali. Ten thousand men marched behind him, and Deborah went with him.

11. கேனியனான ஏபேர் என்பவன் மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய ஒபாபின் புத்திரராயிருக்கிற கேனியரை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கேதேசின் கிட்ட இருக்கிற சானாயிம் என்னும் கர்வாலி மரங்கள் அருகே தன் கூடாரத்தைப் போட்டிருந்தான்.

11. Heber the Kenite had parted company with the tribe of Kain and with the sons of Hobab, father-in-law of Moses; he had pitched his tent near the Oak of Zaanannim, not far from Kedesh.

12. அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக் தாபோர் மலையில் ஏறிப்போனான் என்று சிசெராவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

12. Sisera was informed that Barak son of Abinoam had encamped on Mount Tabor.

13. சிசெரா தொளாயிரம் இருப்புரதங்களாகிய தன்னுடைய எல்லா ரதங்களையும், தன்னோடிருக்கும் எல்லா ஜனங்களையும், புறஜாதிகளின் பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலிருந்து கீசோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே வரவழைத்தான்.

13. Sisera summoned all his chariots -- nine hundred iron chariots -- and all the troops he had, from Harosheth-ha-Goiim to the Torrent of Kishon.

14. அப்பொழுது தெபொராள் பாராக்கை நோக்கி: எழுந்துபோ; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் நாள் இதுவே; கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்படவில்லையா என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது பாராக்கும், அவன் பின்னாலே பதினாயிரம்பேரும், தாபோர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்.

14. Deborah said to Barak, 'Up! For today is the day when Yahweh has put Sisera into your power. Is not Yahweh marching at your head?' And Barak charged down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men behind him.

15. கர்த்தர் சிசெராவையும் அந்த எல்லா ரதங்களையும் சேனையனைத்தையும் பாராக்குக்கு முன்பாகப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் கலங்கடித்தார்; சிசெரா ரதத்தைவிட்டிறங்கி கால்நடையாய் ஓடிப்போனான்.

15. At Barak's advance, Yahweh struck terror into Sisera, all his chariots and his entire army. Sisera leapt down from his chariot and fled on foot.

16. பாராக் ரதங்களையும் சேனையையும் புறஜாதிகளுடைய அரோசேத்மட்டும் துரத்தினான்; சிசெராவின் சேனையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் விழுந்தது; ஒருவனும் மீதியாயிருக்கவில்லை.

16. Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth-ha-Goiim. Sisera's whole army fell by the edge of the sword; not one man was spared.

17. சிசெரா கால்நடையாய்க் கேனியனான ஏபேரின் மனைவி யாகேலுடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாபீன் என்னும் ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவுக்கும், கேனியனான ஏபேரின் வீட்டுக்கும் சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருந்தது.

17. Sisera meanwhile fled on foot towards the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. For there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.

18. யாகேல் வெளியே சிசெராவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: உள்ளே வாரும்; என் ஆண்டவனே, என்னண்டை உள்ளே வாரும், பயப்படாதேயும் என்று அவனோடே சொன்னாள்; அப்படியே அவளண்டை கூடாரத்தில் உள்ளே வந்தபோது, அவனை ஒரு சமுக்காளத்தினாலே மூடினாள்.

18. Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, 'Stay here, my lord, with me; do not be afraid!' He stayed with her in her tent, and she covered him with a rug.

19. அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து; குடிக்க எனக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் தா, தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; அவள் பால்துருத்தியைத் திறந்து, அவனுக்குக் குடிக்கக்கொடுத்து, திரும்பவும் அவனை மூடினாள்.

19. He said to her, 'Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.' She opened the skin of milk, gave him some to drink and covered him up again.

20. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ கூடாரவாசலிலே நின்று, யாராவது ஒருவன் வந்து, இங்கே யாராகிலும் இருக்கிறார்களா என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால், இல்லை என்று சொல் என்றான்.

20. Then he said to her, 'Stand at the tent door, and if anyone comes and questions you -- if he asks, 'Is there a man here?' say, 'No.' '

21. பின்பு ஏபேரின் மனைவியாகிய யாகேல் ஒரு கூடார ஆணியை எடுத்து, தன் கையிலே சுத்தியைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு, மெள்ள அவனண்டையில் வந்து, அவன் நெறியிலே அந்த ஆணியை அடித்துப்போட்டாள்; அது உருவிப்போய், தரையிலே புதைந்தது; அப்பொழுது ஆயாசமாய்த் தூங்கின அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

21. But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent-peg and picked up a mallet; she crept up softly to him and drove the peg into his temple right through to the ground. He was lying fast asleep, worn out; and so he died.

22. பின்பு சிசெராவைத் தொடருகிற பாராக் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாகேல் வெளியே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: வாரும், நீ தேடுகிற மனுஷனை உமக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்; அவன் அவளிடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, இதோ, சிசெரா செத்துக்கிடந்தான்; ஆணி அவன் நெறியில் அடித்திருந்தது.

22. And now Barak came up in pursuit of Sisera. Jael went out to meet him and said, 'Come in, and I will show you the man you are looking for.' He went into her tent; and there was Sisera dead, with the tent-peg through his temple.

23. இப்படி தேவன் அந்நாளிலே கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தினார்.

23. Thus God that day humbled Jabin king of Canaan before the Israelites.

24. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கை கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் அவன்மேல் பலத்துக்கொண்டேயிருந்தது.

24. And the Israelites bore down more and more heavily on that king of Canaan, Jabin, until he was utterly destroyed.
