1. ஏகூத் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் திரும்பக் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்துவந்தார்கள்.

1. After Ehud died, the people of Israel sinned in the eyes of the Lord again.

2. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களை ஆத்சோரில் ஆளுகிற யாபீன் என்னும் கானானியருடைய ராஜாவின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்; அவனுடைய சேனாபதிக்குச் சிசெரா என்று பேர்; அவன் புறஜாதிகளுடைய பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

2. So the Lord let them be taken by Jabin king of Canaan, who ruled in Hazor. The head of his army was Sisera, who lived in Haroshethhagoyim.

3. அவனுக்குத் தொளாயிரம் இருப்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தது; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை இருபது வருஷம் கொடுமையாய் ஒடுக்கினான்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள்.

3. The people of Israel cried to the Lord, for Jabin had 900 iron war-wagons. He made it very hard for the people of Israel for twenty years.

4. அக்காலத்திலே லபிதோத்தின் மனைவியாகிய தெபொராள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவள் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தாள்.

4. Now Lappidoth's wife Deborah, a woman who spoke for God, was judging Israel at that time.

5. அவள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசமான ராமாவுக்கும் பெத்தேலுக்கும் நடுவிலிருக்கிற தெபொராளின் பேரீச்சமரத்தின்கீழே குடியிருந்தாள்; அங்கே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவளிடத்திற்கு நியாயவிசாரணைக்குப் போவார்கள்.

5. She would sit under the tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim. And the people of Israel came to her to find out what was right or wrong.

6. She sent for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedeshnaphtali, and said to him, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, says, 'Go to Mount Tabor. Take with you 10,000 men from the sons of Naphtali and Zebulun.

7. I will have Sisera, the head of Jabin's army, meet you at the river Kishon. He will have his war-wagons and his many soldiers with him. But I will give him into your hand.' '

8. அதற்குப் பாராக்: நீ என்னோடேகூட வந்தால் போவேன்; என்னோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நான் போகமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

8. Then Barak said to her, 'I will go if you go with me. But if you do not go with me, I will not go.'

9. அதற்கு அவள்: நான் உன்னோடேகூட நிச்சமாய் வருவேன்; ஆனாலும் நீ போகிற பிரயாணத்தில் உண்டாகிற மேன்மை உனக்குக் கிடையாது; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை ஒரு ஸ்திரீயின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, தெபொராள் எழும்பி, பாராக்கோடேகூடக் கேதேசுக்குப் போனாள்.

9. And she said, 'For sure I will go with you. But the honor will not be yours as you go on your way. For the Lord will sell Sisera into the hands of a woman.' Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.

10. அப்பொழுது பாராக்: செபுலோன் மனுஷரையும் நப்தலி மனுஷரையும் கேதேசுக்கு வரவழைத்து, தன்னைப் பின்செல்லும் பதினாயிரம்பேரோடே போனான்; தெபொராளும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனாள்.

10. Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to come to Kedesh. He went up with 10,000 men. And Deborah went up with him.

11. கேனியனான ஏபேர் என்பவன் மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய ஒபாபின் புத்திரராயிருக்கிற கேனியரை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கேதேசின் கிட்ட இருக்கிற சானாயிம் என்னும் கர்வாலி மரங்கள் அருகே தன் கூடாரத்தைப் போட்டிருந்தான்.

11. Now Heber the Kenite had gone away from the Kenites, from the sons of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses. He had put up his tent as far away as the big tree in Zaanannim, near Kedesh.

12. அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக் தாபோர் மலையில் ஏறிப்போனான் என்று சிசெராவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

12. They told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor.

13. சிசெரா தொளாயிரம் இருப்புரதங்களாகிய தன்னுடைய எல்லா ரதங்களையும், தன்னோடிருக்கும் எல்லா ஜனங்களையும், புறஜாதிகளின் பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலிருந்து கீசோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே வரவழைத்தான்.

13. Sisera gathered together all his 900 iron war-wagons. He gathered together all the people who were with him, from Haroshethhagoyim to the river Kishon.

14. அப்பொழுது தெபொராள் பாராக்கை நோக்கி: எழுந்துபோ; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் நாள் இதுவே; கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்படவில்லையா என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது பாராக்கும், அவன் பின்னாலே பதினாயிரம்பேரும், தாபோர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்.

14. Deborah said to Barak, 'Get up! For this is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands. See, the Lord has gone out before you.' So Barak went down from Mount Tabor, and 10,000 men followed him.

15. கர்த்தர் சிசெராவையும் அந்த எல்லா ரதங்களையும் சேனையனைத்தையும் பாராக்குக்கு முன்பாகப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் கலங்கடித்தார்; சிசெரா ரதத்தைவிட்டிறங்கி கால்நடையாய் ஓடிப்போனான்.

15. The Lord brought trouble upon Sisera and all his war-wagons and all his army in front of Barak with the sword. Sisera got down from his war-wagon and ran away on foot.

16. பாராக் ரதங்களையும் சேனையையும் புறஜாதிகளுடைய அரோசேத்மட்டும் துரத்தினான்; சிசெராவின் சேனையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் விழுந்தது; ஒருவனும் மீதியாயிருக்கவில்லை.

16. But Barak went after the war-wagons and the army as far as Harosheth-hagoyim. All of Sisera's army fell by the sword. Not one was left.

17. சிசெரா கால்நடையாய்க் கேனியனான ஏபேரின் மனைவி யாகேலுடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாபீன் என்னும் ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவுக்கும், கேனியனான ஏபேரின் வீட்டுக்கும் சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருந்தது.

17. Sisera ran away on foot to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite. For there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.

18. யாகேல் வெளியே சிசெராவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: உள்ளே வாரும்; என் ஆண்டவனே, என்னண்டை உள்ளே வாரும், பயப்படாதேயும் என்று அவனோடே சொன்னாள்; அப்படியே அவளண்டை கூடாரத்தில் உள்ளே வந்தபோது, அவனை ஒரு சமுக்காளத்தினாலே மூடினாள்.

18. Jael went out to meet Sisera, saying, 'Come in, my lord. Come in to me. Do not be afraid.' So he went into her tent, and she put a cover over him.

19. அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து; குடிக்க எனக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் தா, தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; அவள் பால்துருத்தியைத் திறந்து, அவனுக்குக் குடிக்கக்கொடுத்து, திரும்பவும் அவனை மூடினாள்.

19. He said to her, 'Give me a little water to drink. For I am thirsty.' So she opened a skin bag of milk and gave him a drink. Then she covered him.

20. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ கூடாரவாசலிலே நின்று, யாராவது ஒருவன் வந்து, இங்கே யாராகிலும் இருக்கிறார்களா என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால், இல்லை என்று சொல் என்றான்.

20. He said to her, 'Stand in the door of the tent. If anyone comes and asks you, 'Is there anyone here?' you say, 'No.' '

21. பின்பு ஏபேரின் மனைவியாகிய யாகேல் ஒரு கூடார ஆணியை எடுத்து, தன் கையிலே சுத்தியைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு, மெள்ள அவனண்டையில் வந்து, அவன் நெறியிலே அந்த ஆணியை அடித்துப்போட்டாள்; அது உருவிப்போய், தரையிலே புதைந்தது; அப்பொழுது ஆயாசமாய்த் தூங்கின அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

21. But Heber's wife Jael took a big tent nail in her hand and a tool to hit it with. Because Sisera was very tired, he went into a deep sleep. She went to him in secret and hit the big nail into the side of his head. It went through and into the ground. So he died.

22. பின்பு சிசெராவைத் தொடருகிற பாராக் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாகேல் வெளியே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: வாரும், நீ தேடுகிற மனுஷனை உமக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்; அவன் அவளிடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, இதோ, சிசெரா செத்துக்கிடந்தான்; ஆணி அவன் நெறியில் அடித்திருந்தது.

22. As Barak came after Sisera, Jael came out to meet him. She said to him, 'Come. I will show you the man you are looking for.' So Barak went in with her, and he saw Sisera lying dead with the big tent nail in his head.

23. இப்படி தேவன் அந்நாளிலே கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தினார்.

23. God put Jabin the king of Canaan under the power of the people of Israel on that day.

24. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கை கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் அவன்மேல் பலத்துக்கொண்டேயிருந்தது.

24. The people of Israel made it harder and harder for Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed him.
