1. ஏகூத் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் திரும்பக் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்துவந்தார்கள்.

1. After Ehud died, the Israelites again did what the Lord said was wrong.

2. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களை ஆத்சோரில் ஆளுகிற யாபீன் என்னும் கானானியருடைய ராஜாவின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்; அவனுடைய சேனாபதிக்குச் சிசெரா என்று பேர்; அவன் புறஜாதிகளுடைய பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

2. So he let Jabin, a king of Canaan who ruled in the city of Hazor, defeat Israel. Sisera, who lived in Harosheth Haggoyim, was the commander of Jabin's army.

3. அவனுக்குத் தொளாயிரம் இருப்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தது; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை இருபது வருஷம் கொடுமையாய் ஒடுக்கினான்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள்.

3. Because he had nine hundred iron chariots and was very cruel to the people of Israel for twenty years, they cried to the Lord for help.

4. அக்காலத்திலே லபிதோத்தின் மனைவியாகிய தெபொராள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவள் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தாள்.

4. A prophetess named Deborah, the wife of Lappidoth, was judge of Israel at that time.

5. அவள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசமான ராமாவுக்கும் பெத்தேலுக்கும் நடுவிலிருக்கிற தெபொராளின் பேரீச்சமரத்தின்கீழே குடியிருந்தாள்; அங்கே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அவளிடத்திற்கு நியாயவிசாரணைக்குப் போவார்கள்.

5. Deborah would sit under the Palm Tree of Deborah, which was between the cities of Ramah and Bethel, in the mountains of Ephraim. And the people of Israel would come to her to settle their arguments.

6. Deborah sent a message to Barak son of Abinoam. Barak lived in the city of Kedesh, which is in the area of Naphtali. Deborah said to Barak, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: 'Go and gather ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead them to Mount Tabor.

7. I will make Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, and his chariots, and his army meet you at the Kishon River. I will hand Sisera over to you.''

8. அதற்குப் பாராக்: நீ என்னோடேகூட வந்தால் போவேன்; என்னோடேகூட வராவிட்டால், நான் போகமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

8. Then Barak said to Deborah, 'I will go if you will go with me, but if you won't go with me, I won't go.'

9. அதற்கு அவள்: நான் உன்னோடேகூட நிச்சமாய் வருவேன்; ஆனாலும் நீ போகிற பிரயாணத்தில் உண்டாகிற மேன்மை உனக்குக் கிடையாது; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை ஒரு ஸ்திரீயின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்று சொல்லி, தெபொராள் எழும்பி, பாராக்கோடேகூடக் கேதேசுக்குப் போனாள்.

9. Of course I will go with you,' Deborah answered, 'but you will not get credit for the victory. The Lord will let a woman defeat Sisera.' So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.

10. அப்பொழுது பாராக்: செபுலோன் மனுஷரையும் நப்தலி மனுஷரையும் கேதேசுக்கு வரவழைத்து, தன்னைப் பின்செல்லும் பதினாயிரம்பேரோடே போனான்; தெபொராளும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனாள்.

10. At Kedesh, Barak called the people of Zebulun and Naphtali together. From them, he gathered ten thousand men to follow him, and Deborah went with him also.

11. கேனியனான ஏபேர் என்பவன் மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய ஒபாபின் புத்திரராயிருக்கிற கேனியரை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, கேதேசின் கிட்ட இருக்கிற சானாயிம் என்னும் கர்வாலி மரங்கள் அருகே தன் கூடாரத்தைப் போட்டிருந்தான்.

11. Now Heber the Kenite had left the other Kenites, the descendants of Hobab, Moses' brother-in-law. Heber had put up his tent by the great tree in Zaanannim, near Kedesh.

12. அபினோகாமின் குமாரன் பாராக் தாபோர் மலையில் ஏறிப்போனான் என்று சிசெராவுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

12. When Sisera was told that Barak son of Abinoam had gone to Mount Tabor,

13. சிசெரா தொளாயிரம் இருப்புரதங்களாகிய தன்னுடைய எல்லா ரதங்களையும், தன்னோடிருக்கும் எல்லா ஜனங்களையும், புறஜாதிகளின் பட்டணமாகிய அரோசேத்திலிருந்து கீசோன் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே வரவழைத்தான்.

13. Sisera gathered his nine hundred iron chariots and all the men with him, from Harosheth Haggoyim to the Kishon River.

14. அப்பொழுது தெபொராள் பாராக்கை நோக்கி: எழுந்துபோ; கர்த்தர் சிசெராவை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் நாள் இதுவே; கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்படவில்லையா என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது பாராக்கும், அவன் பின்னாலே பதினாயிரம்பேரும், தாபோர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினார்கள்.

14. Then Deborah said to Barak, 'Get up! Today is the day the Lord will hand over Sisera. The Lord has already cleared the way for you.' So Barak led ten thousand men down Mount Tabor.

15. கர்த்தர் சிசெராவையும் அந்த எல்லா ரதங்களையும் சேனையனைத்தையும் பாராக்குக்கு முன்பாகப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் கலங்கடித்தார்; சிசெரா ரதத்தைவிட்டிறங்கி கால்நடையாய் ஓடிப்போனான்.

15. As Barak approached, the Lord confused Sisera and his army and chariots. The Lord defeated them with the sword, but Sisera left his chariot and ran away on foot.

16. பாராக் ரதங்களையும் சேனையையும் புறஜாதிகளுடைய அரோசேத்மட்டும் துரத்தினான்; சிசெராவின் சேனையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் விழுந்தது; ஒருவனும் மீதியாயிருக்கவில்லை.

16. Barak and his men chased Sisera's chariots and army to Harosheth Haggoyim. With their swords they killed all of Sisera's men; not one of them was left alive.

17. சிசெரா கால்நடையாய்க் கேனியனான ஏபேரின் மனைவி யாகேலுடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாபீன் என்னும் ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவுக்கும், கேனியனான ஏபேரின் வீட்டுக்கும் சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருந்தது.

17. But Sisera himself ran away to the tent where Jael lived. She was the wife of Heber, one of the Kenite family groups. Heber's family was at peace with Jabin king of Hazor.

18. யாகேல் வெளியே சிசெராவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: உள்ளே வாரும்; என் ஆண்டவனே, என்னண்டை உள்ளே வாரும், பயப்படாதேயும் என்று அவனோடே சொன்னாள்; அப்படியே அவளண்டை கூடாரத்தில் உள்ளே வந்தபோது, அவனை ஒரு சமுக்காளத்தினாலே மூடினாள்.

18. Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, 'Come into my tent, master! Come in. Don't be afraid.' So Sisera went into Jael's tent, and she covered him with a rug.

19. அவன் அவளைப் பார்த்து; குடிக்க எனக்குக் கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் தா, தாகமாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றான்; அவள் பால்துருத்தியைத் திறந்து, அவனுக்குக் குடிக்கக்கொடுத்து, திரும்பவும் அவனை மூடினாள்.

19. Sisera said to Jael, 'I am thirsty. Please give me some water to drink.' So she opened a leather bag of milk and gave him a drink. Then she covered him up.

20. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீ கூடாரவாசலிலே நின்று, யாராவது ஒருவன் வந்து, இங்கே யாராகிலும் இருக்கிறார்களா என்று உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால், இல்லை என்று சொல் என்றான்.

20. He said to her, 'Go stand at the entrance to the tent. If anyone comes and asks you, 'Is anyone here?' say, 'No.''

21. பின்பு ஏபேரின் மனைவியாகிய யாகேல் ஒரு கூடார ஆணியை எடுத்து, தன் கையிலே சுத்தியைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு, மெள்ள அவனண்டையில் வந்து, அவன் நெறியிலே அந்த ஆணியை அடித்துப்போட்டாள்; அது உருவிப்போய், தரையிலே புதைந்தது; அப்பொழுது ஆயாசமாய்த் தூங்கின அவன் செத்துப்போனான்.

21. But Jael, the wife of Heber, took a tent peg and a hammer and quietly went to Sisera. Since he was very tired, he was in a deep sleep. She hammered the tent peg through the side of Sisera's head and into the ground. And so Sisera died.

22. பின்பு சிசெராவைத் தொடருகிற பாராக் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யாகேல் வெளியே அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்: வாரும், நீ தேடுகிற மனுஷனை உமக்குக் காண்பிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னாள்; அவன் அவளிடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது, இதோ, சிசெரா செத்துக்கிடந்தான்; ஆணி அவன் நெறியில் அடித்திருந்தது.

22. At that very moment Barak came by Jael's tent, chasing Sisera. Jael went out to meet him and said, 'Come. I will show you the man you are looking for.' So Barak entered her tent, and there Sisera lay dead, with the tent peg in his head.

23. இப்படி தேவன் அந்நாளிலே கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தினார்.

23. On that day God defeated Jabin king of Canaan in the sight of Israel.

24. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கை கானானியரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீனை நிர்மூலமாக்குமட்டும் அவன்மேல் பலத்துக்கொண்டேயிருந்தது.

24. Israel became stronger and stronger against Jabin king of Canaan until finally they destroyed him.
