1. கள்ளத்தராசு கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; சுமுத்திரையான நிறைகல்லோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.

1. A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.

2. அகந்தை வந்தால் இலச்சையும் வரும்; தாழ்ந்த சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களிடத்தில் ஞானம் உண்டு.

2. When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom.

3. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய உத்தமம் அவர்களை நடத்தும்; துரோகிகளின் மாறுபாடோ அவர்களைப் பாழாக்கும்.

3. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.

4. கோபாக்கினை நாளில் ஐசுவரியம் உதவாது; நீதியோ மரணத்துக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்.

4. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

5. உத்தமனுடைய நீதி அவன் வழியைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கனோ தன் துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் விழுவான்.

5. The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness.

6. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய நீதி அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்; துரோகிகளோ தங்கள் தீவினையிலே பிடிபடுவார்கள்.

6. The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are taken captive by their lust.

7. துன்மார்க்கன் மரிக்கும்போது அவன் நம்பிக்கை அழியும்; அக்கிரமக்காரரின் அபேட்சை கெட்டுப்போகும்.

7. When the wicked dies, his hope perishes, and the expectation of the godless comes to nought.

8. நீதிமான் இக்கட்டினின்று விடுவிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் இருந்த இடத்திலே துன்மார்க்கன் வருவான்.

8. The righteous is delivered from trouble, and the wicked gets into it instead.

9. மாயக்காரன் தனக்கு அடுத்தவனை வாயினால் கெடுக்கிறான்; நீதிமானோ அறிவினால் தப்புகிறான்.

9. With his mouth the godless man would destroy his neighbor, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.

10. நீதிமான்கள் நன்றாயிருந்தால் பட்டணம் களிகூரும்; துன்மார்க்கர் அழிந்தால் கெம்பீரம் உண்டாகும்.

10. When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.

11. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தினால் பட்டணம் நிலைபெற்றோங்கும்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வாயினால் அது இடிந்துவிழும்.

11. By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12. மதிகெட்டவன் பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறான்; புத்திமானோ தன் வாயை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

12. He who belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.

13. புறங்கூறித் திரிகிறவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்; ஆவியில் உண்மையுள்ளவனோ காரியத்தை அடக்குகிறான்.

13. He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing hidden.

14. ஆலோசனையில்லாத இடத்தில் ஜனங்கள் விழுந்துபோவார்கள்; அநேக ஆலோசனைக்காரர் உண்டானால் சுகம் உண்டாகும்.

14. Where there is no guidance, a people falls; but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

15. அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவன் வெகு பாடுபடுவான்; பிணைப்படுவதை வெறுப்பவன் சுகமாயிருப்பான்.

15. He who gives surety for a stranger will smart for it, but he who hates suretyship is secure.

16. நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ மானத்தைக் காப்பாள்; பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் ஐசுவரியத்தைக் காப்பார்கள்.

16. A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches.

17. தயையுள்ள மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நன்மை செய்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; கடூரனோ தன் உடலை அலைக்கழிக்கிறான்.

17. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.

18. துன்மார்க்கன் விருதாவேலையைச் செய்கிறான்; நீதியை விதைக்கிறவனோ மெய்ப்பலனைப் பெறுவான்.

18. A wicked man earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.

19. நீதி ஜீவனுக்கு ஏதுவாகிறதுபோல், தீமையைப் பின்தொடருகிறவன் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாகிறான்.

19. He who is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.

20. மாறுபாடுள்ள இருதயமுடையவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவர்கள்; உத்தம மார்க்கத்தாரோ அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்கள்.

20. Men of perverse mind are an abomination to the LORD, but those of blameless ways are his delight.

21. கையோடே கைகோத்தாலும், துஷ்டன் தண்டனைக்குத் தப்பான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய சந்ததியோ விடுவிக்கப்படும்.

21. Be assured, an evil man will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will be delivered.

22. மதிகேடாய் நடக்கிற அழகுள்ள ஸ்திரீ, பன்றியின் மூக்கிலுள்ள பொன் மூக்குத்திக்குச் சமானம்.

22. Like a gold ring in a swine's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.

23. நீதிமான்களுடைய ஆசை நன்மையே; துன்மார்க்கருடைய நம்பிக்கையோ கோபாக்கினையாய் முடியும்.

23. The desire of the righteous ends only in good; the expectation of the wicked in wrath.

24. வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.

24. One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.

25. உதாரகுணமுள்ள ஆத்துமா செழிக்கும்; எவன் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறானோ அவனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சப்படும்.

25. A liberal man will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

26. தானியத்தைக் கட்டிவைக்கிறவனை ஜனங்கள் சபிப்பார்கள்; விற்கிறவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதம் தங்கும்.

26. The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it.

27. நன்மையை ஜாக்கிரதையுடன் தேடுகிறவன் தயையைப் பெறுவான்; தீமையைத் தேடுகிறவனுக்கோ தீமையே வரும்.

27. He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it.

28. தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.

28. He who trusts in his riches will wither, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.

29. தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறவன் காற்றைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான்; மூடன் ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்கு அடிமையாவான்.

29. He who troubles his household will inherit wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.

30. நீதிமானுடைய பலன் ஜீவவிருட்சம்; ஆத்துமாக்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஞானமுள்ளவன்.

30. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but lawlessness takes away lives.

31. இதோ, நீதிமானுக்கு பூமியில் சரிக்கட்டப்படுமே; துன்மார்க்கனுக்கும் பாவிக்கும் எத்தனை அதிகம்.
