1. கள்ளத்தராசு கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; சுமுத்திரையான நிறைகல்லோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.

1. Dishonest scales are detestable to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight.

2. அகந்தை வந்தால் இலச்சையும் வரும்; தாழ்ந்த சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களிடத்தில் ஞானம் உண்டு.

2. When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.

3. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய உத்தமம் அவர்களை நடத்தும்; துரோகிகளின் மாறுபாடோ அவர்களைப் பாழாக்கும்.

3. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.

4. கோபாக்கினை நாளில் ஐசுவரியம் உதவாது; நீதியோ மரணத்துக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்.

4. Wealth is not profitable on a day of wrath, but righteousness rescues from death.

5. உத்தமனுடைய நீதி அவன் வழியைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கனோ தன் துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் விழுவான்.

5. The righteousness of the blameless clears his path, but the wicked person will fall because of his wickedness.

6. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய நீதி அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்; துரோகிகளோ தங்கள் தீவினையிலே பிடிபடுவார்கள்.

6. The righteousness of the upright rescues them, but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.

7. துன்மார்க்கன் மரிக்கும்போது அவன் நம்பிக்கை அழியும்; அக்கிரமக்காரரின் அபேட்சை கெட்டுப்போகும்.

7. When the wicked dies, his expectation comes to nothing, and hope placed in wealth vanishes.

8. நீதிமான் இக்கட்டினின்று விடுவிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் இருந்த இடத்திலே துன்மார்க்கன் வருவான்.

8. The righteous is rescued from trouble; in his place, the wicked goes in.

9. மாயக்காரன் தனக்கு அடுத்தவனை வாயினால் கெடுக்கிறான்; நீதிமானோ அறிவினால் தப்புகிறான்.

9. With his mouth the ungodly destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous are rescued.

10. நீதிமான்கள் நன்றாயிருந்தால் பட்டணம் களிகூரும்; துன்மார்க்கர் அழிந்தால் கெம்பீரம் உண்டாகும்.

10. When the righteous thrive, a city rejoices, and when the wicked die, there is joyful shouting.

11. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தினால் பட்டணம் நிலைபெற்றோங்கும்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வாயினால் அது இடிந்துவிழும்.

11. A city is built up by the blessing of the upright, but it is torn down by the mouth of the wicked.

12. மதிகெட்டவன் பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறான்; புத்திமானோ தன் வாயை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

12. Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, but a man with understanding keeps silent.

13. புறங்கூறித் திரிகிறவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்; ஆவியில் உண்மையுள்ளவனோ காரியத்தை அடக்குகிறான்.

13. A gossip goes around revealing a secret, but the trustworthy keeps a confidence.

14. ஆலோசனையில்லாத இடத்தில் ஜனங்கள் விழுந்துபோவார்கள்; அநேக ஆலோசனைக்காரர் உண்டானால் சுகம் உண்டாகும்.

14. Without guidance, people fall, but with many counselors there is deliverance.

15. அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவன் வெகு பாடுபடுவான்; பிணைப்படுவதை வெறுப்பவன் சுகமாயிருப்பான்.

15. If someone puts up security for a stranger, he will suffer for it, but the one who hates such agreements is protected.

16. நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ மானத்தைக் காப்பாள்; பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் ஐசுவரியத்தைக் காப்பார்கள்.

16. A gracious woman gains honor, but violent men gain [only] riches.

17. தயையுள்ள மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நன்மை செய்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; கடூரனோ தன் உடலை அலைக்கழிக்கிறான்.

17. A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings disaster on himself.

18. துன்மார்க்கன் விருதாவேலையைச் செய்கிறான்; நீதியை விதைக்கிறவனோ மெய்ப்பலனைப் பெறுவான்.

18. The wicked man earns an empty wage, but the one who sows righteousness, a true reward.

19. நீதி ஜீவனுக்கு ஏதுவாகிறதுபோல், தீமையைப் பின்தொடருகிறவன் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாகிறான்.

19. Genuine righteousness [leads] to life, but pursuing evil [leads] to death.

20. மாறுபாடுள்ள இருதயமுடையவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவர்கள்; உத்தம மார்க்கத்தாரோ அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்கள்.

20. Those with twisted minds are detestable to the LORD, but those with blameless conduct are His delight.

21. கையோடே கைகோத்தாலும், துஷ்டன் தண்டனைக்குத் தப்பான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய சந்ததியோ விடுவிக்கப்படும்.

21. Be assured that the wicked will not go unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will escape.

22. மதிகேடாய் நடக்கிற அழகுள்ள ஸ்திரீ, பன்றியின் மூக்கிலுள்ள பொன் மூக்குத்திக்குச் சமானம்.

22. A beautiful woman who rejects good sense is like a gold ring in a pig's snout.

23. நீதிமான்களுடைய ஆசை நன்மையே; துன்மார்க்கருடைய நம்பிக்கையோ கோபாக்கினையாய் முடியும்.

23. The desire of the righteous [turns out] well, but the hope of the wicked [leads to] wrath.

24. வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.

24. One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.

25. உதாரகுணமுள்ள ஆத்துமா செழிக்கும்; எவன் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறானோ அவனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சப்படும்.

25. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.

26. தானியத்தைக் கட்டிவைக்கிறவனை ஜனங்கள் சபிப்பார்கள்; விற்கிறவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதம் தங்கும்.

26. People will curse anyone who hoards grain, but a blessing will come to the one who sells it.

27. நன்மையை ஜாக்கிரதையுடன் தேடுகிறவன் தயையைப் பெறுவான்; தீமையைத் தேடுகிறவனுக்கோ தீமையே வரும்.

27. The one who searches for what is good finds favor, but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him.

28. தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.

28. Anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage.

29. தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறவன் காற்றைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான்; மூடன் ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்கு அடிமையாவான்.

29. The one who brings ruin on his household will inherit the wind, and a fool will be a slave to someone whose heart is wise.

30. நீதிமானுடைய பலன் ஜீவவிருட்சம்; ஆத்துமாக்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஞானமுள்ளவன்.

30. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but violence takes lives.

31. இதோ, நீதிமானுக்கு பூமியில் சரிக்கட்டப்படுமே; துன்மார்க்கனுக்கும் பாவிக்கும் எத்தனை அதிகம்.
