1. கள்ளத்தராசு கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; சுமுத்திரையான நிறைகல்லோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.

1. False balances are hateful to Jehovah, but a perfect stone is His delight.

2. அகந்தை வந்தால் இலச்சையும் வரும்; தாழ்ந்த சிந்தையுள்ளவர்களிடத்தில் ஞானம் உண்டு.

2. Pride comes, then shame comes, but with the lowly is wisdom.

3. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய உத்தமம் அவர்களை நடத்தும்; துரோகிகளின் மாறுபாடோ அவர்களைப் பாழாக்கும்.

3. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of traitors will devastate them.

4. கோபாக்கினை நாளில் ஐசுவரியம் உதவாது; நீதியோ மரணத்துக்குத் தப்புவிக்கும்.

4. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

5. உத்தமனுடைய நீதி அவன் வழியைச் செம்மைப்படுத்தும்; துன்மார்க்கனோ தன் துன்மார்க்கத்தினால் விழுவான்.

5. The righteousness of the perfect shall make his way right, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய நீதி அவர்களைத் தப்புவிக்கும்; துரோகிகளோ தங்கள் தீவினையிலே பிடிபடுவார்கள்.

6. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but traitors shall be taken in their lust.

7. துன்மார்க்கன் மரிக்கும்போது அவன் நம்பிக்கை அழியும்; அக்கிரமக்காரரின் அபேட்சை கெட்டுப்போகும்.

7. In the death of a wicked man, his expectation shall perish, and the hope of the unjust shall be lost.

8. நீதிமான் இக்கட்டினின்று விடுவிக்கப்படுவான்; அவன் இருந்த இடத்திலே துன்மார்க்கன் வருவான்.

8. The righteous is delivered from distress, and the wicked goes in instead of him.

9. மாயக்காரன் தனக்கு அடுத்தவனை வாயினால் கெடுக்கிறான்; நீதிமானோ அறிவினால் தப்புகிறான்.

9. The ungodly is corrupting his neighbor with his mouth, but the just is delivered by knowledge.

10. நீதிமான்கள் நன்றாயிருந்தால் பட்டணம் களிகூரும்; துன்மார்க்கர் அழிந்தால் கெம்பீரம் உண்டாகும்.

10. When the righteous prospers, the city rejoices; and at the wicked's perishing is singing.

11. செம்மையானவர்களுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தினால் பட்டணம் நிலைபெற்றோங்கும்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய வாயினால் அது இடிந்துவிழும்.

11. A city is lifted up by the blessing of the upright, but by the wicked's mouth it is overthrown.

12. மதிகெட்டவன் பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறான்; புத்திமானோ தன் வாயை அடக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான்.

12. One despising his friend lacks heart, but an understanding man remains silent.

13. புறங்கூறித் திரிகிறவன் இரகசியத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறான்; ஆவியில் உண்மையுள்ளவனோ காரியத்தை அடக்குகிறான்.

13. One going with slander is a revealer of secrets, but the faithful of spirit keeps a matter hidden.

14. ஆலோசனையில்லாத இடத்தில் ஜனங்கள் விழுந்துபோவார்கள்; அநேக ஆலோசனைக்காரர் உண்டானால் சுகம் உண்டாகும்.

14. In the absence of wise counsels the people fall, but safety is in abundance of counselors.

15. அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்படுகிறவன் வெகு பாடுபடுவான்; பிணைப்படுவதை வெறுப்பவன் சுகமாயிருப்பான்.

15. One suffers evil when he is surety for a stranger, but one hating strikers of hands is trusted.

16. நல்லொழுக்கமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ மானத்தைக் காப்பாள்; பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் ஐசுவரியத்தைக் காப்பார்கள்.

16. A gracious woman holds to honor, and terrifying men hold to riches.

17. தயையுள்ள மனுஷன் தன் ஆத்துமாவுக்கு நன்மை செய்துகொள்ளுகிறான்; கடூரனோ தன் உடலை அலைக்கழிக்கிறான்.

17. A merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel troubles his own flesh.

18. துன்மார்க்கன் விருதாவேலையைச் செய்கிறான்; நீதியை விதைக்கிறவனோ மெய்ப்பலனைப் பெறுவான்.

18. The wicked makes a deceitful wage, but one sowing righteousness has a reward of truth.

19. நீதி ஜீவனுக்கு ஏதுவாகிறதுபோல், தீமையைப் பின்தொடருகிறவன் மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாகிறான்.

19. So righteousness leads to life, but one pursuing evil, to his death.

20. மாறுபாடுள்ள இருதயமுடையவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவர்கள்; உத்தம மார்க்கத்தாரோ அவருக்குப் பிரியமானவர்கள்.

20. Hateful to Jehovah are the perverse hearted, but His delight is the upright in way.

21. கையோடே கைகோத்தாலும், துஷ்டன் தண்டனைக்குத் தப்பான்; நீதிமான்களுடைய சந்ததியோ விடுவிக்கப்படும்.

21. Though hand join to hand, the evil shall not be innocent, but the righteous seed escapes.

22. மதிகேடாய் நடக்கிற அழகுள்ள ஸ்திரீ, பன்றியின் மூக்கிலுள்ள பொன் மூக்குத்திக்குச் சமானம்.

22. As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a woman who is beautiful, yet turning aside discretion.

23. நீதிமான்களுடைய ஆசை நன்மையே; துன்மார்க்கருடைய நம்பிக்கையோ கோபாக்கினையாய் முடியும்.

23. The desire of the righteous is only good, the hope of the wicked is wrath.

24. வாரியிறைத்தும் விருத்தியடைவாரும் உண்டு; அதிகமாய்ப் பிசினித்தனம்பண்ணியும் வறுமையடைவாரும் உண்டு.

24. There is one who scatters yet increases more; but a withholder of just due comes only to poverty.

25. உதாரகுணமுள்ள ஆத்துமா செழிக்கும்; எவன் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சுகிறானோ அவனுக்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய்ச்சப்படும்.

25. The blessed soul will be made fat; he who waters will also drink fully.

26. தானியத்தைக் கட்டிவைக்கிறவனை ஜனங்கள் சபிப்பார்கள்; விற்கிறவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதம் தங்கும்.

26. One holding back grain, the people curse him; but a blessing is to the head of one selling grain.

27. நன்மையை ஜாக்கிரதையுடன் தேடுகிறவன் தயையைப் பெறுவான்; தீமையைத் தேடுகிறவனுக்கோ தீமையே வரும்.

27. He who early is seeking good seeks favor; but one pursuing evil, it shall come to him.

28. தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.

28. One trusting in his riches, he shall fall; but like a green leaf the righteous shall sprout.

29. தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறவன் காற்றைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான்; மூடன் ஞானமுள்ளவனுக்கு அடிமையாவான்.

29. One troubling his house inherits the wind; and the fool is servant to the wise of heart.

30. நீதிமானுடைய பலன் ஜீவவிருட்சம்; ஆத்துமாக்களை ஆதாயப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் ஞானமுள்ளவன்.

30. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he who takes hold of souls is wise.

31. இதோ, நீதிமானுக்கு பூமியில் சரிக்கட்டப்படுமே; துன்மார்க்கனுக்கும் பாவிக்கும் எத்தனை அதிகம்.
