1. தேவனே, என் ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்டருளும்; என் விண்ணப்பத்திற்கு மறைந்திராதேயும்.

1. To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

2. எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, உத்தரவு அருளிச்செய்யும்; சத்துருவினுடைய கூக்குரலினிமித்தமும், துன்மார்க்கர் செய்யும் இடுக்கத்தினிமித்தமும் என் தியானத்தில் முறையிடுகிறேன்.

2. Attend unto me, and answer me: I wander about in my plaint, and I moan aloud,

3. அவர்கள் என்மேல் பழிசாட்டி, குரோதங்கொண்டு, என்னைப் பகைக்கிறார்கள்.

3. Because of the voice of the enemy; because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me.

4. என் இருதயம் எனக்குள் வியாகுலப்படுகிறது; மரணத்திகில் என்மேல் விழுந்தது.

4. My heart is writhing within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

5. பயமும் நடுக்கமும் என்னைப் பிடித்தது; அருக்களிப்பு என்னை மூடிற்று.

5. Fear and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

6. அப்பொழுது நான்: ஆ, எனக்குப் புறாவைப்போல் சிறகுகள் இருந்தால், நான்பறந்துபோய் இளைப்பாறுவேன்.

6. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away, and be at rest;

7. நான் தூரத்தில் அலைந்து திரிந்து வனாந்தரத்தில் தங்கியிருப்பேன். (சேலா)

7. Behold, I would flee afar off, I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah;

8. பெருங்காற்றுக்கும் புசலுக்கும் தப்பத் தீவிரித்துக்கொள்ளுவேன் என்றேன்.

8. I would hasten my escape from the stormy wind, from the tempest.

9. ஆண்டவரே, அவர்களை அழித்து, அவர்கள் பாஷையைப் பிரிந்துபோகப்பண்ணும்; கொடுமையையும் சண்டையையும் நகரத்திலே கண்டேன்;

9. Swallow [them] up, Lord; divide their tongue: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

10. அவைகள் இரவும்பகலும் அதின் மதில்கள்மேல் சுற்றித்திரிகிறது; அக்கிரமமும் வாதையும் அதின் நடுவில் இருக்கிறது;

10. Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; and iniquity and mischief are in the midst of it.

11. கேடுபாடுகள் அதின் நடுவில் இருக்கிறது; கொடுமையும் கபடும் அதின் வீதியைவிட்டு விலகிப்போகிறதில்லை.

11. Perversities are in the midst thereof; and oppression and deceit depart not from its streets.

12. என்னை நிந்தித்தவன் சத்துரு அல்ல, அப்படியிருந்தால் சகிப்பேன்; எனக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பெருமை பாராட்டினவன் என் பகைஞன் அல்ல, அப்படியிருந்தால் அவனுக்கு மறைந்திருப்பேன்.

12. For it is not an enemy that hath reproached me -- then could I have borne it; neither is it he that hateth me that hath magnified [himself] against me -- then would I have hidden myself from him;

13. எனக்குச் சமமான மனுஷனும், என் வழிகாட்டியும், என் தோழனுமாகிய நீயே அவன்.

13. But it was thou, a man mine equal, mine intimate, my familiar friend. ...

14. நாம் ஒருமித்து, இன்பமான ஆலோசனைபண்ணி, கூட்டத்தோடே தேவாலயத்துக்குப் போனோம்.

14. We who held sweet intercourse together. To the house of God we walked amid the throng.

15. மரணம் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிப்பதாக; அவர்கள் உயிரோடே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குவார்களாக; அவர்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களிலும் அவர்கள் உள்ளத்திலும் பொல்லாங்கு இருக்கிறது.

15. Let death seize upon them, let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst.

16. நானோ தேவனை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவேன்; கர்த்தர் என்னை இரட்சிப்பார்.

16. As for me, unto God will I call; and Jehovah will save me.

17. அந்திசந்தி மத்தியான வேளைகளிலும் நான் தியானம்பண்ணி முறையிடுவேன்; அவர் என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்பார்.

17. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray and moan aloud; and he will hear my voice.

18. திரளான கூட்டமாய்க் கூடி என்னோடு எதிர்த்தார்கள்; அவரோ எனக்கு நேரிட்ட போரை நீக்கி, என் ஆத்துமாவைச் சமாதானத்துடன் மீட்டுவிட்டார்.

18. He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me: for there were many about me.

19. ஆதிமுதலாய் வீற்றிருக்கிற தேவன் கேட்டு, அவர்களுக்குப் பதிலளிப்பார்; அவர்களுக்கு மாறுதல்கள் நேரிடாததினால், அவர்கள் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படாமற்போகிறார்கள். (சேலா)

19. *God will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ...because there is no change in them, and they fear not God.

20. அவன் தன்னோடே சமாதானமாயிருந்தவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தன் கையை நீட்டி தன் உடன்படிக்கையை மீறி நடந்தான்.

20. He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.

21. அவன் வாயின் சொற்கள் வெண்ணெயைப்போல மெதுவானவைகள், அவன் இருதயமோ யுத்தம்; அவன் வார்த்தைகள் எண்ணெயிலும் மிருதுவானவைகள். ஆனாலும் அவைகள் உருவின பட்டயங்கள்.

21. Smooth were the milky [words] of his mouth, but his heart was war; his words were softer than oil, yet are they drawn swords.

22. கர்த்தர்மேல் உன் பாரத்தை வைத்துவிடு, அவர் உன்னை ஆதரிப்பார்; நீதிமானை ஒருபோதும் தள்ளாடவொட்டார்.

22. Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and *he* will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

23. தேவனே, நீர் அவர்களை அழிவின் குழியில் இறங்கப்பண்ணுவீர்; இரத்தப்பிரியரும் சூதுள்ள மனுஷரும் தங்கள் ஆயுளின் நாட்களில் பாதிவரையிலாகிலும் பிழைத்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள்; நானோ உம்மை நம்பியிருக்கிறேன்.

23. And thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. But as for me, I will confide in thee.
