1. தேவனே, என் ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்டருளும்; என் விண்ணப்பத்திற்கு மறைந்திராதேயும்.

2. எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, உத்தரவு அருளிச்செய்யும்; சத்துருவினுடைய கூக்குரலினிமித்தமும், துன்மார்க்கர் செய்யும் இடுக்கத்தினிமித்தமும் என் தியானத்தில் முறையிடுகிறேன்.

2. Listen, God, to my prayer! Don't hide yourself from my plea!

3. அவர்கள் என்மேல் பழிசாட்டி, குரோதங்கொண்டு, என்னைப் பகைக்கிறார்கள்.

3. Pay attention to me, and answer me! I am panic-stricken as I make my complaint, I shudder

4. at how the enemy shouts, at how the wicked oppress; for they keep heaping trouble on me and angrily tormenting me.

5. My heart within me is pounding in anguish, the terrors of death press down on me,

6. அப்பொழுது நான்: ஆ, எனக்குப் புறாவைப்போல் சிறகுகள் இருந்தால், நான்பறந்துபோய் இளைப்பாறுவேன்.

6. fear and trembling overwhelm me, horror covers me.

7. நான் தூரத்தில் அலைந்து திரிந்து வனாந்தரத்தில் தங்கியிருப்பேன். (சேலா)

7. I said, 'I wish I had wings like a dove! Then I could fly away and be at rest.

8. பெருங்காற்றுக்கும் புசலுக்கும் தப்பத் தீவிரித்துக்கொள்ளுவேன் என்றேன்.

8. Yes, I would flee to a place far off, I would stay in the desert. ([Selah])

9. ஆண்டவரே, அவர்களை அழித்து, அவர்கள் பாஷையைப் பிரிந்துபோகப்பண்ணும்; கொடுமையையும் சண்டையையும் நகரத்திலே கண்டேன்;

9. I would quickly find me a shelter from the raging wind and storm.'

10. Confuse, [Adonai], confound their speech! For I see violence and fighting in the city.

11. Day and night they go about its walls; within are malice and mischief.

12. Ruin is rife within it, oppression and fraud never leave its streets.

13. எனக்குச் சமமான மனுஷனும், என் வழிகாட்டியும், என் தோழனுமாகிய நீயே அவன்.

13. For it was not an enemy who insulted me; if it had been, I could have borne it. It was not my adversary who treated me with scorn; if it had been, I could have hidden myself.

14. நாம் ஒருமித்து, இன்பமான ஆலோசனைபண்ணி, கூட்டத்தோடே தேவாலயத்துக்குப் போனோம்.

14. But it was you, a man of my own kind, my companion, whom I knew well.

15. மரணம் அவர்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிப்பதாக; அவர்கள் உயிரோடே பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குவார்களாக; அவர்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களிலும் அவர்கள் உள்ளத்திலும் பொல்லாங்கு இருக்கிறது.

15. We used to share our hearts with each other; in the house of God we walked with the crowd.

16. நானோ தேவனை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவேன்; கர்த்தர் என்னை இரட்சிப்பார்.

16. May he put death on them; let them go down alive to Sh'ol; for evil is in their homes and also in their hearts.

17. அந்திசந்தி மத்தியான வேளைகளிலும் நான் தியானம்பண்ணி முறையிடுவேன்; அவர் என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்பார்.

17. But I will call on God, and ADONAI will save me.

18. திரளான கூட்டமாய்க் கூடி என்னோடு எதிர்த்தார்கள்; அவரோ எனக்கு நேரிட்ட போரை நீக்கி, என் ஆத்துமாவைச் சமாதானத்துடன் மீட்டுவிட்டார்.

18. Evening, morning and noon I complain and moan; but he hears my voice.

19. ஆதிமுதலாய் வீற்றிருக்கிற தேவன் கேட்டு, அவர்களுக்குப் பதிலளிப்பார்; அவர்களுக்கு மாறுதல்கள் நேரிடாததினால், அவர்கள் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படாமற்போகிறார்கள். (சேலா)

19. He redeems me and gives me peace, so that no one can come near me. For there were many who fought me.

20. அவன் தன்னோடே சமாதானமாயிருந்தவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தன் கையை நீட்டி தன் உடன்படிக்கையை மீறி நடந்தான்.

20. God will hear and will humble them, yes, he who has sat on his throne from the start. ([Selah]) For they never change, and they don't fear God.

21. அவன் வாயின் சொற்கள் வெண்ணெயைப்போல மெதுவானவைகள், அவன் இருதயமோ யுத்தம்; அவன் வார்த்தைகள் எண்ணெயிலும் மிருதுவானவைகள். ஆனாலும் அவைகள் உருவின பட்டயங்கள்.

21. [[My companion]] attacked those who were at peace with him; he broke his solemn word.

22. கர்த்தர்மேல் உன் பாரத்தை வைத்துவிடு, அவர் உன்னை ஆதரிப்பார்; நீதிமானை ஒருபோதும் தள்ளாடவொட்டார்.

22. What he said sounded smoother than butter, but his heart was at war. His words seemed more soothing than oil, but in fact they were sharp swords.

23. தேவனே, நீர் அவர்களை அழிவின் குழியில் இறங்கப்பண்ணுவீர்; இரத்தப்பிரியரும் சூதுள்ள மனுஷரும் தங்கள் ஆயுளின் நாட்களில் பாதிவரையிலாகிலும் பிழைத்திருக்கமாட்டார்கள்; நானோ உம்மை நம்பியிருக்கிறேன்.

23. Unload your burden on ADONAI, and he will sustain you. He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
