1. அக்காலத்திலே யெரொபெயாமின் குமாரனாகிய அபியா வியாதியில் விழுந்தான்.

1. At that time Aviyah the son of Yarov`am fell sick.

2. அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் தன் மனைவியைப் பார்த்து: நீ எழுந்து, நீ யெரொபெயாமின் மனைவியென்று ஒருவரும் அறியாதபடிக்கு வேஷம்மாறி சீலோவுக்குப் போ; இந்த ஜனத்தின்மேல் நான் ராஜாவாவேன் என்று என்னோடே சொன்ன தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய அகியா அங்கே இருக்கிறான்.

2. Yarov`am said to his wife, Please get up and disguise yourself, that you not be known to be the wife of Yarov`am; and get you to Shiloh: behold, there is Achiyah the prophet, who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

3. நீ உன் கையிலே பத்து அப்பங்களையும், பணியாரங்களையும், ஒரு கலசம் தேனையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு அவனிடத்துக்குப் போ; பிள்ளைக்குச் சம்பவிக்கப்போகிறது இன்னதென்று அவன் உனக்கு அறிவிப்பான் என்றான்.

3. Take with you ten loaves, and cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him: he will tell you what shall become of the child.

4. அப்படியே யெரொபெயாமின் மனைவி செய்தாள்; அவள் எழுந்து சீலோவுக்குப் போய், அகியாவின் வீட்டிற்குள் பிரவேசித்தாள்; அகியாவோ முதிர் வயதானதினால் அவன் கண்கள் மங்கலடைந்து பார்க்கக்கூடாதிருந்தான்.

4. Yarov`am's wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Achiyah. Now Achiyah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5. கர்த்தர் அகியாவினிடத்தில்: இதோ, யெரொபெயாமின் மனைவி வியாதியாருக்கிற தன் குமாரனுக்காக உன்னை ஒரு விசேஷம் கேட்க வருகிறாள்; நீ அவளுக்கு இன்ன இன்ன பிரகாரமாகச் சொல்லவேண்டும்; அவள் உட்பிரவேசிக்கிறபோது, தன்னை அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயாகக் காண்பிப்பாள் என்றார்.

5. The LORD said to Achiyah, Behold, the wife of Yarov`am comes to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shall you tell her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will feign herself to be another woman.

6. ஆகையால் வாசற்படிக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் அவளுடைய நடையின் சத்தத்தை அகியா கேட்டவுடனே, அவன்: யெரொபெயாமின் மனைவியே, உள்ளே வா; உன்னை அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயாகக் காண்பிக்கிறதென்ன? துக்கசெய்தியை உனக்கு அறிவிக்க நான் அனுப்பப்பட்டேன்.

6. It was so, when Achiyah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, you wife of Yarov`am; why feign you yourself to be another? for I am sent to you with heavy news.

7. நீ போய் யெரொபெயாமை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்; ஜனத்தினின்று உன்னை நான் உயர்த்தி, உன்னை இஸ்ரவேல் என்னும் என் ஜனத்தின்மேல் அதிபதியாக வைத்தேன்.

7. Go, tell Yarov`am, Thus says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el: Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Yisra'el,

8. நான் ராஜ்யபாரத்தைத் தாவீது வம்சத்தாரின் கையிலிருந்து பிடுங்கி உனக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்; ஆனாலும் என் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு, என் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதையே செய்ய, தன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் என்னைப் பின்பற்றின என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல நீ இராமல்,

8. and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my mitzvot, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

9. உனக்கு முன்னிருந்த எல்லாரைப்பார்க்கிலும் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்தாய்; எனக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்க, நீ போய் உனக்கு அந்நிய தேவர்களையும் வார்க்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகங்களையும் உண்டுபண்ணி, உனக்குப் புறம்பே என்னைத் தள்ளிவிட்டாய்.

9. but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made you other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back:

10. ஆகையால் இதோ, நான் யெரொபெயாமுடைய வீட்டின்மேல் பொல்லாப்பை வரப்பண்ணி, யெரொபெயாமுக்கு, சுவர்மேல் நீர்விடும் ஒரு நாய் முதலாயிராதபடிக்கு, இஸ்ரவேலிலே அடைபட்டவனையும் விடுபட்டவனையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணி, குப்பை கழித்துப்போடப்படுகிறதுபோல யெரொபெயாமின் பின்னடியாரை அவர்கள் கட்டோடே அற்றுப்போகுமட்டும் கழித்துப்போடுவேன் என்றார்.

10. therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Yarov`am, and will cut off from Yarov`am every man-child, him who is shut up and him who is left at large in Yisra'el, and will utterly sweep away the house of Yarov`am, as a man sweeps away dung, until it be all gone.

11. யெரொபெயாமின் சந்ததியாரில் பட்டணத்திலே சாகிறவனை நாய்கள் தின்னும்; வெளியிலே சாகிறவனை ஆகாயத்தின் பறவைகள் தின்னும்; கர்த்தர் இதை உரைத்தார்.

11. Him who dies of Yarov`am in the city shall the dogs eat; and him who dies in the field shall the birds of the sky eat: for the LORD has spoken it.

12. ஆகையால் நீ எழுந்து, உன் வீட்டுக்குப்போ, உன் கால்கள் பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கையில் பிள்ளையாண்டான் செத்துப்போவான்.

12. Arise you therefore, get you to your house: and when your feet enter into the city, the child shall die.

13. அவனுக்காக இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் துக்கங்கொண்டாடி அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணுவார்கள்; யெரொபெயாமின் வீட்டாரில் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக அவனிடத்திலே நல்ல காரியம் காணப்பட்டதினால், யெரொபெயாமின் சந்ததியில் அவன் ஒருவனே கல்லறைக்குட்படுவான்.

13. All Yisra'el shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Yarov`am shall come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, in the house of Yarov`am.

14. ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் தமக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ஒரு ராஜாவை எழும்பப்பண்ணுவார்; அவன் அந்நாளிலே யெரொபெயாமின் வீட்டாரைச் சங்கரிப்பான்; இப்போதே இது நடந்தேறும்.

14. Moreover the LORD will raise him up a king over Yisra'el, who shall cut off the house of Yarov`am that day: but what? even now.

15. தண்ணீரிலே நாணல் அசைகிறதுபோல, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலை முறிந்தசையப்பண்ணி, அவர்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குத் தாம் கொடுத்த இந்த நல்ல தேசத்திலிருந்து இஸ்ரவேலை வேரோடே பிடுங்கி, அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு தோப்பு விக்கிரகங்களை வைத்து, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்கினபடியினால், அவர்களை நதிக்கப்பாலே சிதறடித்து,

15. For the LORD will strike Yisra'el, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Yisra'el out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking the LORD to anger.

16. யெரொபெயாம் செய்ததும் இஸ்ரவேலைச் செய்யப்பண்ணினதுமான பாவத்தினிமித்தம் இஸ்ரவேலை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துவிடுவார் என்றான்.

16. He will give Yisra'el up because of the sins of Yarov`am, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Yisra'el to sin.

17. அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாமின் மனைவி எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு திர்சாவுக்கு வந்தாள்; அவள் வாசற்படியிலே வருகையில் பிள்ளையாண்டான் செத்துப்போனான்.

17. Yarov`am's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirtzah: and as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

18. கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய அகியா என்னும் தமது ஊழியக்காரனைக் கொண்டு சொன்ன வார்த்தையின்படியே, அவர்கள் அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணி, இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் அவனுக்காகத் துக்கங்கொண்டாடினார்கள்.

18. All Yisra'el buried him, and mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servant Achiyah the prophet.

19. யெரொபெயாம் யுத்தம்பண்ணினதும் ஆண்டதுமான அவனுடைய மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

19. The rest of the acts of Yarov`am, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el.

20. யெரொபெயாம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணின காலம் இருபத்திரண்டு வருஷம்; அவன் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், அவன் குமாரனாகிய நாதாப் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

20. The days which Yarov`am reigned were two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadav his son reigned in his place.

21. சாலொமோனின் குமாரனாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் யூதாவிலே ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; ரெகொபெயாம் ராஜாவாகிறபோது நாற்பத்தொரு வயதாயிருந்து, கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய நாமம் விளங்கும்படி இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களிலெல்லாம் தெரிந்துகொண்ட நகரமாகிய எருசலேமிலே பதினேழு வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம் பண்ணினான்; அம்மோன் ஜாதியான அவனுடைய தாயின் பேர் நாமாள்.

21. Rechav`am the son of Shlomo reigned in Yehudah. Rechav`am was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra'el, to put his name there: and his mother's name was Na`amah the `Ammonite.

22. யூதா ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, தாங்கள் செய்து வருகிற தங்களுடைய பாவங்களினால் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் செய்த எல்லாவற்றைப்பார்க்கிலும் அவருக்கு அதிக எரிச்சலை மூட்டினார்கள்.

22. Yehudah did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

23. அவர்களும் உயர்ந்த சகல மேட்டின் மேலும், பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின் கீழும், மேடைகளையும் சிலைகளையும் தோப்புவிக்கிரகங்களையும் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கினார்கள்.

23. For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;

24. தேசத்திலே இலச்சையான புணர்ச்சிக்காரரும் இருந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிட்ட ஜாதிகளுடைய அருவருப்புகளின்படியெல்லாம் செய்தார்கள்.

24. and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD drove out before the children of Yisra'el.

25. ரெகொபெயாம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணும் ஐந்தாம் வருஷத்திலே, எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சீஷாக் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்து,

25. It happened in the fifth year of king Rechav`am, that Shishak king of Mitzrayim came up against Yerushalayim;

26. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் பொக்கிஷங்களையும், ராஜாவுடைய அரமனையின் பொக்கிஷங்களையும், சாலொமோன் செய்வித்த பொன் பரிசைகள் ஆகிய சகலத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விட்டான்.

26. and he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he even took away all: and he took away all the shields of gold which Shlomo had made.

27. அவைகளுக்குப் பதிலாக ராஜாவாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் வெண்கலப் பரிசைகளைச் செய்வித்து, அவைகளை ராஜாவின் வாசற்படியைக் காக்கிற சேவகருடைய தலைவரின் கையில் ஒப்புவித்தான்.

27. King Rechav`am made in their place shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house.

28. ராஜா கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும்போது, அரமனைச்சேவகர் அவைகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், திரும்பத் தங்கள் அறையிலே வைப்பார்கள்.

28. It was so, that as often as the king went into the house of the LORD, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard-chamber.

29. ரெகொபெயாமின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவன் செய்தவை யாவும், யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

29. Now the rest of the acts of Rechav`am, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

30. ரெகொபெயாமுக்கும் யெரொபெயாமுக்கும் அவர்கள் இருந்த நாட்களிலெல்லாம் யுத்தம் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தது.

30. There was war between Rechav`am and Yarov`am continually.

31. ரெகொபெயாம் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்து, தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் தன் பிதாக்களண்டையில் அடக்கம் பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அம்மோன் ஜாதியான அவன் தாய்க்கு நாமாள் என்று பேர்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய அபியாம் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

31. Rechav`am slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and his mother's name was Na`amah the `Ammonite. Aviyam his son reigned in his place.
