1. சுத்த இருதயமுள்ளவர்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு தேவன் நல்லவராகவே இருக்கிறார்.

1. Truly, God is good to Israel, even to such as are clean in heart.

2. ஆனாலும் என் கால்கள் தள்ளாடுதலுக்கும், என் அடிகள் சறுக்குதலுக்கும் சற்றே தப்பிற்று.

2. But as for me, my feet had almost gone from under me; I was near to slipping;

3. துன்மார்க்கரின் வாழ்வை நான் காண்கையில், வீம்புக்காரராகிய அவர்கள்மேல் பொறாமை கொண்டேன்.

3. Because of my envy of the men of pride, when I saw the well-being of the wrongdoers.

4. மரணபரியந்தம் அவர்களுக்கு இடுக்கண்களில்லை; அவர்களுடைய பெலன் உறுதியாயிருக்கிறது.

4. For they have no pain; their bodies are fat and strong.

5. நரர் படும் வருத்தத்தில் அகப்படார்கள்; மனுஷர் அடையும் உபாதியை அடையார்கள்.

5. They are not in trouble as others are; they have no part in the unhappy fate of men.

6. ஆகையால் பெருமை சரப்பணியைப்போல் அவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொள்ளும், கொடுமை ஆடையைப்போல் அவர்களை மூடிக்கொள்ளும்.

6. For this reason pride is round them like a chain; they are clothed with violent behaviour as with a robe.

7. அவர்கள் கண்கள் கொழுப்பினால் எடுப்பாய்ப் பார்க்கிறது; அவர்கள் இருதயம் விரும்புவதிலும் அதிகமாய் நடந்தேறுகிறது.

7. Their eyes are bursting with fat; they have more than their heart's desire.

8. அவர்கள் சீர்கெட்டுப்போய், அகந்தையாய்க் கொடுமை பேசுகிறார்கள்; இறுமாப்பாய்ப் பேசுகிறார்கள்.

8. Their thoughts are deep with evil designs; their talk from their seats of power is of cruel acts.

9. தங்கள் வாய் வானமட்டும் எட்டப்பேசுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் நாவு பூமியெங்கும் உலாவுகிறது.

9. Their mouth goes up to heaven; their tongues go walking through the earth.

10. ஆகையால் அவருடைய ஜனங்கள் இந்த வழியாகவே திரும்புகிறார்கள்; தண்ணீர்கள் அவர்களுக்குப் பரிபூரணமாய்ச் சுரந்துவரும்.

10. For this reason they are full of bread; and water is ever flowing for them.

11. தேவனுக்கு அது எப்படித் தெரியும்? உன்னதமானவருக்கு அதைப்பற்றி அறிவு உண்டோ? என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

11. And they say, How will the Lord see this? is there knowledge in the Most High?

12. இதோ, இவர்கள் துன்மார்க்கர்; இவர்கள் என்றும் சுகஜீவிகளாயிருந்து, ஆஸ்தியைப் பெருகப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

12. Truly, such are the sinners; they do well at all times, and their wealth is increased.

13. நான் விருதாவாகவே என் இருதயத்தைச் சுத்தம்பண்ணி, குற்றமில்லாமையிலே என் கைகளைக் கழுவினேன்.

13. As for me, I have made my heart clean to no purpose, washing my hands in righteousness;

14. நாள்தோறும் நான் வாதிக்கப்பட்டும், காலைதோறும் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறேன்.

14. For I have been troubled all the day; every morning have I undergone punishment.

15. இவ்விதமாய்ப் பேசுவேன் என்று நான் சொன்னேனானால், இதோ, உம்முடைய பிள்ளைகளின் சந்ததிக்குத் துரோகியாவேன்.

15. If I would make clear what it is like, I would say, You are false to the generation of your children.

16. இதை அறியும்படிக்கு யோசித்துப்பார்த்தேன்; நான் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்துக்குள் பிரவேசித்து,

16. When my thoughts were turned to see the reason of this, it was a weariness in my eyes;

17. அவர்கள் முடிவைக் கவனித்து உணருமளவும், அது என் பார்வைக்கு விசனமாயிருந்தது.

17. Till I went into God's holy place, and saw the end of the evil-doers.

18. நிச்சயமாகவே நீர் அவர்களைச் சறுக்கலான இடங்களில் நிறுத்தி, பாழான இடங்களில் விழப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

18. You put their feet where there was danger of slipping, so that they go down into destruction.

19. அவர்கள் ஒரு நிமிஷத்தில் எவ்வளவு பாழாய்ப்போகிறார்கள்! பயங்கரங்களால் அழிந்து நிர்மூலமாகிறார்கள்.

19. How suddenly are they wasted! fears are the cause of their destruction.

20. நித்திரை தெளிந்தவுடனே சொப்பனம் ஒழிவதுபோல், ஆண்டவரே, நீர்விழிக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் வேஷத்தை இகழுவீர்.

20. As a dream when one is awake, they are ended; they are like an image gone out of mind when sleep is over.

21. இப்படியாக என் மனம் கசந்தது, என் உள்ளிந்திரியங்களிலே குத்துண்டேன்.

21. My heart was made bitter, and I was pained by the bite of grief:

22. நான் காரியம் அறியாத மூடனானேன்; உமக்கு முன்பாக மிருகம் போலிருந்தேன்.

22. As for me, I was foolish, and without knowledge; I was like a beast before you.

23. ஆனாலும் நான் எப்பொழுதும் உம்மோடிருக்கிறேன்; என் வலதுகையைப் பிடித்துத் தாங்குகிறீர்.

23. But still I am ever with you; you have taken me by my right hand.

24. உம்முடைய ஆலோசனையின்படி நீர் என்னை நடத்தி, முடிவிலே என்னை மகிமையில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வீர்.

24. Your wisdom will be my guide, and later you will put me in a place of honour.

25. பரலோகத்தில் உம்மையல்லாமல் எனக்கு யார் உண்டு? பூலோகத்தில் உம்மைத் தவிர எனக்கு வேறே விருப்பமில்லை.

25. Whom have I in heaven but you? and having you I have no desire for anything on earth.

26. என் மாம்சமும் என் இருதயமும் மாண்டுபோகிறது; தேவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் என் இருதயத்தின் கன்மலையும் என் பங்குமாயிருக்கிறார்.

26. My flesh and my heart are wasting away: but God is the Rock of my heart and my eternal heritage.

27. இதோ, உம்மைவிட்டுத் தூரமாய்ப்போகிறவர்கள் நாசமடைவார்கள்; உம்மைவிட்டுச் சோரம்போகிற அனைவரையும் சங்கரிப்பீர்.

27. For those who are far away from you will come to destruction: you will put an end to all those who have not kept faith with you.

28. எனக்கோ, தேவனை அண்டிக்கொண்டிருப்பதே நலம்; நான் உமது கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் சொல்லிவரும்படி கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர்மேல் என் நம்பிக்கையை வைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

28. But it is good for me to come near to God: I have put my faith in the Lord God, so that I may make clear all his works.
