1. சுத்த இருதயமுள்ளவர்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு தேவன் நல்லவராகவே இருக்கிறார்.

1. BOOK THE THIRD A Melody of Asaph. Nothing but good, is God, Unto Israel, Unto the pure in heart.

2. ஆனாலும் என் கால்கள் தள்ளாடுதலுக்கும், என் அடிகள் சறுக்குதலுக்கும் சற்றே தப்பிற்று.

2. But, as for me, My feet had, almost stumbled, My steps had, well-nigh slipped;

3. துன்மார்க்கரின் வாழ்வை நான் காண்கையில், வீம்புக்காரராகிய அவர்கள்மேல் பொறாமை கொண்டேன்.

3. For I was envious of the boasters, At the prosperity of the lawless, used I to look.

4. மரணபரியந்தம் அவர்களுக்கு இடுக்கண்களில்லை; அவர்களுடைய பெலன் உறுதியாயிருக்கிறது.

4. For they have no pangs in their death, And vigorous is their body;

5. நரர் படும் வருத்தத்தில் அகப்படார்கள்; மனுஷர் அடையும் உபாதியை அடையார்கள்.

5. Of the toil of weak mortals, have they none, Nor, with the sons of earth, are they hard smitten.

6. ஆகையால் பெருமை சரப்பணியைப்போல் அவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொள்ளும், கொடுமை ஆடையைப்போல் அவர்களை மூடிக்கொள்ளும்.

6. For this cause, doth arrogance deck them as a neck-chain, And a garment of wrong is their attire;

7. அவர்கள் கண்கள் கொழுப்பினால் எடுப்பாய்ப் பார்க்கிறது; அவர்கள் இருதயம் விரும்புவதிலும் அதிகமாய் நடந்தேறுகிறது.

7. Their iniquity, hath proceeded from fatness, They have surpassed the imaginations of the heart;

8. அவர்கள் சீர்கெட்டுப்போய், அகந்தையாய்க் கொடுமை பேசுகிறார்கள்; இறுமாப்பாய்ப் பேசுகிறார்கள்.

8. They mock, and wickedly command oppression, From on high, they command;

9. தங்கள் வாய் வானமட்டும் எட்டப்பேசுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் நாவு பூமியெங்கும் உலாவுகிறது.

9. They have set, in the heavens, their mouth, And, their tongue, marcheth through the earth.

10. ஆகையால் அவருடைய ஜனங்கள் இந்த வழியாகவே திரும்புகிறார்கள்; தண்ணீர்கள் அவர்களுக்குப் பரிபூரணமாய்ச் சுரந்துவரும்.

10. Therefore must his people return thither, And, the waters of abundance, are drained by them;

11. தேவனுக்கு அது எப்படித் தெரியும்? உன்னதமானவருக்கு அதைப்பற்றி அறிவு உண்டோ? என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

11. And they say How doth GOD know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?

12. இதோ, இவர்கள் துன்மார்க்கர்; இவர்கள் என்றும் சுகஜீவிகளாயிருந்து, ஆஸ்தியைப் பெருகப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

12. Lo! these, are the lawless, Who are secure for an age, They have attained unto wealth.

13. நான் விருதாவாகவே என் இருதயத்தைச் சுத்தம்பண்ணி, குற்றமில்லாமையிலே என் கைகளைக் கழுவினேன்.

13. Altogether in vain, Have I cleansed my heart, And bathed in pureness, my hands;

14. நாள்தோறும் நான் வாதிக்கப்பட்டும், காலைதோறும் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறேன்.

14. And yet been smitten all the day, And been rebuked morning by morning!

15. இவ்விதமாய்ப் பேசுவேன் என்று நான் சொன்னேனானால், இதோ, உம்முடைய பிள்ளைகளின் சந்ததிக்குத் துரோகியாவேன்.

15. If I had thought, I will relate it thus, Lo! the circle of thy sons, had I betrayed.

16. இதை அறியும்படிக்கு யோசித்துப்பார்த்தேன்; நான் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்துக்குள் பிரவேசித்து,

16. When I reasoned, that I might understand this, A vexation, it was in mine eyes:

17. அவர்கள் முடிவைக் கவனித்து உணருமளவும், அது என் பார்வைக்கு விசனமாயிருந்தது.

17. Until I could enter the holy places of God, Could give heed to their hereafter:

18. நிச்சயமாகவே நீர் அவர்களைச் சறுக்கலான இடங்களில் நிறுத்தி, பாழான இடங்களில் விழப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

18. Surely, in slippery places, dost thou set them, Thou hast suffered them to fall into places of danger.

19. அவர்கள் ஒரு நிமிஷத்தில் எவ்வளவு பாழாய்ப்போகிறார்கள்! பயங்கரங்களால் அழிந்து நிர்மூலமாகிறார்கள்.

19. How have they become desolate, as in a moment! They have ceased come to an end, by reason of calamities.

20. நித்திரை தெளிந்தவுடனே சொப்பனம் ஒழிவதுபோல், ஆண்டவரே, நீர்விழிக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் வேஷத்தை இகழுவீர்.

20. As the dream of him that waketh, O my Lord! when rousing thyself up, their shadowy being, wilt thou despise.

21. இப்படியாக என் மனம் கசந்தது, என் உள்ளிந்திரியங்களிலே குத்துண்டேன்.

21. But my heart had grown embittered, And, in my reins, had I received wounds;

22. நான் காரியம் அறியாத மூடனானேன்; உமக்கு முன்பாக மிருகம் போலிருந்தேன்.

22. But, I, was brutish, and could not perceive, Like the beasts, had I become before thee.

23. ஆனாலும் நான் எப்பொழுதும் உம்மோடிருக்கிறேன்; என் வலதுகையைப் பிடித்துத் தாங்குகிறீர்.

23. Nevertheless, I, am continually before thee, Thou hast taken hold of my right hand;

24. உம்முடைய ஆலோசனையின்படி நீர் என்னை நடத்தி, முடிவிலே என்னை மகிமையில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வீர்.

24. By thy counsel, wilt thou guide me, And, afterwards, unto glory, wilt thou take me.

25. பரலோகத்தில் உம்மையல்லாமல் எனக்கு யார் உண்டு? பூலோகத்தில் உம்மைத் தவிர எனக்கு வேறே விருப்பமில்லை.

25. Whom have I in the heavens? And, compared with thee, there is nothing I desire on earth.

26. என் மாம்சமும் என் இருதயமும் மாண்டுபோகிறது; தேவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் என் இருதயத்தின் கன்மலையும் என் பங்குமாயிருக்கிறார்.

26. Failed have my flesh and my heart, The rock of my heart and my portion, is God unto times age-abiding.

27. இதோ, உம்மைவிட்டுத் தூரமாய்ப்போகிறவர்கள் நாசமடைவார்கள்; உம்மைவிட்டுச் சோரம்போகிற அனைவரையும் சங்கரிப்பீர்.

27. For lo! they who are far from thee, shall perish, Thou hast put an end to every one who wandered unchastely from thee.

28. எனக்கோ, தேவனை அண்டிக்கொண்டிருப்பதே நலம்; நான் உமது கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் சொல்லிவரும்படி கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர்மேல் என் நம்பிக்கையை வைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

28. But, as for me, the drawing near of God, is my blessedness, I have made, of My Lord Yahweh, my refuge, That I may recount all thy works.
