1. சுத்த இருதயமுள்ளவர்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு தேவன் நல்லவராகவே இருக்கிறார்.

1. A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to the upright, the Lord, to those who are clean of heart!

2. ஆனாலும் என் கால்கள் தள்ளாடுதலுக்கும், என் அடிகள் சறுக்குதலுக்கும் சற்றே தப்பிற்று.

2. But, as for me, I lost my balance; my feet all but slipped,

3. துன்மார்க்கரின் வாழ்வை நான் காண்கையில், வீம்புக்காரராகிய அவர்கள்மேல் பொறாமை கொண்டேன்.

3. Because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4. மரணபரியந்தம் அவர்களுக்கு இடுக்கண்களில்லை; அவர்களுடைய பெலன் உறுதியாயிருக்கிறது.

4. For they suffer no pain; their bodies are healthy and sleek.

5. நரர் படும் வருத்தத்தில் அகப்படார்கள்; மனுஷர் அடையும் உபாதியை அடையார்கள்.

5. They are free of the burdens of life; they are not afflicted like others.

6. ஆகையால் பெருமை சரப்பணியைப்போல் அவர்களைச் சுற்றிக்கொள்ளும், கொடுமை ஆடையைப்போல் அவர்களை மூடிக்கொள்ளும்.

6. Thus pride adorns them as a necklace; violence clothes them as a robe.

7. அவர்கள் கண்கள் கொழுப்பினால் எடுப்பாய்ப் பார்க்கிறது; அவர்கள் இருதயம் விரும்புவதிலும் அதிகமாய் நடந்தேறுகிறது.

7. Out of their stupidity comes sin; evil thoughts flood their hearts.

8. அவர்கள் சீர்கெட்டுப்போய், அகந்தையாய்க் கொடுமை பேசுகிறார்கள்; இறுமாப்பாய்ப் பேசுகிறார்கள்.

8. They scoff and spout their malice; from on high they utter threats.

9. தங்கள் வாய் வானமட்டும் எட்டப்பேசுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் நாவு பூமியெங்கும் உலாவுகிறது.

9. They set their mouths against the heavens, their tongues roam the earth.

10. ஆகையால் அவருடைய ஜனங்கள் இந்த வழியாகவே திரும்புகிறார்கள்; தண்ணீர்கள் அவர்களுக்குப் பரிபூரணமாய்ச் சுரந்துவரும்.

10. So my people turn to them and drink deeply of their words.

11. தேவனுக்கு அது எப்படித் தெரியும்? உன்னதமானவருக்கு அதைப்பற்றி அறிவு உண்டோ? என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

11. They say, 'Does God really know?' 'Does the Most High have any knowledge?'

12. இதோ, இவர்கள் துன்மார்க்கர்; இவர்கள் என்றும் சுகஜீவிகளாயிருந்து, ஆஸ்தியைப் பெருகப்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

12. Such, then, are the wicked, always carefree, increasing their wealth.

13. நான் விருதாவாகவே என் இருதயத்தைச் சுத்தம்பண்ணி, குற்றமில்லாமையிலே என் கைகளைக் கழுவினேன்.

13. Is it in vain that I have kept my heart clean, washed my hands in innocence?

14. நாள்தோறும் நான் வாதிக்கப்பட்டும், காலைதோறும் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டும் இருக்கிறேன்.

14. For I am afflicted day after day, chastised every morning.

15. இவ்விதமாய்ப் பேசுவேன் என்று நான் சொன்னேனானால், இதோ, உம்முடைய பிள்ளைகளின் சந்ததிக்குத் துரோகியாவேன்.

15. Had I thought, 'I will speak as they do,' I would have betrayed your people.

16. இதை அறியும்படிக்கு யோசித்துப்பார்த்தேன்; நான் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்துக்குள் பிரவேசித்து,

16. Though I tried to understand all this, it was too difficult for me,

17. அவர்கள் முடிவைக் கவனித்து உணருமளவும், அது என் பார்வைக்கு விசனமாயிருந்தது.

17. Till I entered the sanctuary of God and came to understand their end.

18. நிச்சயமாகவே நீர் அவர்களைச் சறுக்கலான இடங்களில் நிறுத்தி, பாழான இடங்களில் விழப்பண்ணுகிறீர்.

18. You set them, indeed, on a slippery road; you hurl them down to ruin.

19. அவர்கள் ஒரு நிமிஷத்தில் எவ்வளவு பாழாய்ப்போகிறார்கள்! பயங்கரங்களால் அழிந்து நிர்மூலமாகிறார்கள்.

19. How suddenly they are devastated; undone by disasters forever!

20. நித்திரை தெளிந்தவுடனே சொப்பனம் ஒழிவதுபோல், ஆண்டவரே, நீர்விழிக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் வேஷத்தை இகழுவீர்.

20. They are like a dream after waking, Lord, dismissed like shadows when you arise.

21. இப்படியாக என் மனம் கசந்தது, என் உள்ளிந்திரியங்களிலே குத்துண்டேன்.

21. Since my heart was embittered and my soul deeply wounded,

22. நான் காரியம் அறியாத மூடனானேன்; உமக்கு முன்பாக மிருகம் போலிருந்தேன்.

22. I was stupid and could not understand; I was like a brute beast in your presence.

23. ஆனாலும் நான் எப்பொழுதும் உம்மோடிருக்கிறேன்; என் வலதுகையைப் பிடித்துத் தாங்குகிறீர்.

23. Yet I am always with you; you take hold of my right hand.

24. உம்முடைய ஆலோசனையின்படி நீர் என்னை நடத்தி, முடிவிலே என்னை மகிமையில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வீர்.

24. With your counsel you guide me, and at the end receive me with honor.

25. பரலோகத்தில் உம்மையல்லாமல் எனக்கு யார் உண்டு? பூலோகத்தில் உம்மைத் தவிர எனக்கு வேறே விருப்பமில்லை.

25. Whom else have I in the heavens? None beside you delights me on earth.

26. என் மாம்சமும் என் இருதயமும் மாண்டுபோகிறது; தேவன் என்றென்றைக்கும் என் இருதயத்தின் கன்மலையும் என் பங்குமாயிருக்கிறார்.

26. Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever.

27. இதோ, உம்மைவிட்டுத் தூரமாய்ப்போகிறவர்கள் நாசமடைவார்கள்; உம்மைவிட்டுச் சோரம்போகிற அனைவரையும் சங்கரிப்பீர்.

27. But those who are far from you perish; you destroy those unfaithful to you.

28. எனக்கோ, தேவனை அண்டிக்கொண்டிருப்பதே நலம்; நான் உமது கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் சொல்லிவரும்படி கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர்மேல் என் நம்பிக்கையை வைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

28. As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord GOD my refuge. I shall declare all your works in the gates of daughter Zion.
