1. ரெமலியாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெக்காவின் பதினேழாம் வருஷத்தில் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோதாமின் குமாரன் ஆகாஸ் ராஜாவானான்.

1. In the seventeenth year of the reign of Pekah son of Remaliah as king of Israel, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah

2. ஆகாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபது வயதாயிருந்து, எருசலேமிலே பதினாறுவருஷம் அரசாண்டான்; அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல் தன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்யாமல்,

2. at the age of twenty, and he ruled in Jerusalem for sixteen years. He did not follow the good example of his ancestor King David; instead, he did what was not pleasing to the LORD his God

3. இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளுடைய அருவருப்புகளின்படியே தன் குமாரனை முதலாய்த் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணினான்.

3. and followed the example of the kings of Israel. He even sacrificed his own son as a burnt offering to idols, imitating the disgusting practice of the people whom the LORD had driven out of the land as the Israelites advanced.

4. மேடைகளிலும் மலைகளின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின் கீழும் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தான்.

4. At the pagan places of worship, on the hills, and under every shady tree, Ahaz offered sacrifices and burned incense.

5. அப்பொழுது சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ரேத்சீனும், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ரெமலியாவின் குமாரன் பெக்காவும், எருசலேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்து ஆகாசை முற்றிக்கை போட்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ஜெயிக்கமாட்டாதே போனார்கள்.

5. King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah of Israel attacked Jerusalem and besieged it, but could not defeat Ahaz.

6. அக்காலத்திலே சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ரேத்சீன் ஏலாத்தைத் திரும்பச் சீரியாவோடே சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு. யூதரை ஏலாத்திலிருந்து துரத்தினான்; சீரியர் ஏலாத்திற்கு வந்து இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவ்விடத்திலே குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

6. (At the same time the king of Edom regained control of the city of Elath and drove out the Judeans who lived there. The Edomites settled in Elath and still live there.)

7. ஆகாஸ் அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய திகிலாத்பிலேசரிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நான் உம்முடைய அடியானும் உம்முடைய குமாரனுமாயிருக்கிறேன்; நீர் வந்து, எனக்கு விரோதமாயெழும்பின சீரியா ராஜாவின் கைக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாவின் கைக்கும் என்னை நீங்கலாக்கிவிடும் என்று சொல்லச் சொல்லி;

7. Ahaz sent men to Tiglath Pileser, the emperor of Assyria, with this message: 'I am your devoted servant. Come and rescue me from the kings of Syria and of Israel, who are attacking me.'

8. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனைப் பொக்கிஷங்களிலும் அகப்பட்ட வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் எடுத்து, அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவுக்குக் காணிக்கையாக அனுப்பினான்.

8. Ahaz took the silver and gold from the Temple and the palace treasury, and sent it as a present to the emperor.

9. அசீரியா ராஜா அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, தமஸ்குவுக்குப்போய் அதைப் பிடித்து, அதின் குடிகளைக் கீர்பட்டணத்திற்குச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், ரேத்சீனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

9. Tiglath Pileser, in answer to Ahaz' plea, marched out with his army against Damascus, captured it, killed King Rezin, and took the people to Kir as prisoners.

10. அப்பொழுது ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய திகிலாத்பிலேசருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்த் தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள பலிபீடத்தைக் கண்டான். ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின் சாயலையும், அதினுடைய சகல வேலைப்பாடாகிய அதின் மாதிரியையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியாவுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.

10. When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Emperor Tiglath Pileser, he saw the altar there and sent back to Uriah the priest an exact model of it, down to the smallest details.

11. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலிருந்து வருகிறதற்குள் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியா அப்படிக்கொத்த பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலிருந்து அனுப்பின கட்டளையின்படியெல்லாம் செய்தான்.

11. So Uriah built an altar just like it and finished it before Ahaz returned.

12. On his return from Damascus, Ahaz saw that the altar was finished,

13. so he burned animal sacrifices and grain offerings on it and poured a wine offering and the blood of a fellowship offering on it.

14. கர்த்தரின் சந்நிதியில் இருந்த வெண்கலப் பலிபீடத்தை அவன் தன் பலிபீடத்திற்கும் கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திற்கும் நடுவே ஆலயத்தின் முகப்பிலிருந்து எடுத்து, அதைத் தன் பலிபீடத்திற்கு வடபுறமாய் வைத்தான்.

14. The bronze altar dedicated to the LORD was between the new altar and the Temple, so Ahaz moved it to the north side of his new altar.

15. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியாவை நோக்கி: இந்தப் பெரிய பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் நீ காலைச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், மாலைப் போஜனபலியையும், ராஜாவின் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், அவருடைய போஜனபலியையும், தேசத்தினுடைய சகல ஜனத்தின் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், அவர்கள் போஜனபலியையும், அவர்கள் பானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தி, அதின்மேல் சர்வாங்க தகனங்களின் சகல இரத்தத்தையும், பலிகளின் சகல இரத்தத்தையும் தெளிப்பாயாக; அந்த வெண்கலப் பலிபீடமோ, நான் சன்னதம் கேட்கிறதற்கு உதவும் என்றான்.

15. Then he ordered Uriah: 'Use this large altar of mine for the morning burnt offerings and the evening grain offerings, for the burnt offerings and grain offerings of the king and the people, and for the people's wine offerings. Pour on it the blood of all the animals that are sacrificed. But keep the bronze altar for me to use for divination.'

16. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியா செய்தான்.

16. Uriah did as the king commanded.

17. பின்னும் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் ஆதாரங்களின் சவுக்கைகளை அறுத்துவிட்டு, அவைகளின் மேலிருந்த கொப்பரைகளை எடுத்து, கடல்தொட்டியைக் கீழே நிற்கிற வெண்கல ரிஷபங்களின்மேலிருந்து இறக்கி, அதைக் கற்களின் தளவரிசையிலே வைத்து,

17. King Ahaz took apart the bronze carts used in the Temple and removed the basins that were on them. He also took the bronze tank from the backs of the twelve bronze bulls and placed it on a stone foundation.

18. ஆலயத்தின் அருகே கட்டியிருந்த ஓய்வுநாளின் மண்டபத்தையும், ராஜா பிரவேசிக்கும் மண்டபத்தையும், அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவினிமித்தம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்து அப்புறப்படுத்தினான்.

18. And in order to please the Assyrian emperor, Ahaz also removed from the Temple the platform for the royal throne and closed up the king's private entrance to the Temple.

19. ஆகாஸ் செய்த மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்கள் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

20. Ahaz died and was buried in the royal tombs in David's City, and his son Hezekiah succeeded him as king.
