1. ரெமலியாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெக்காவின் பதினேழாம் வருஷத்தில் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோதாமின் குமாரன் ஆகாஸ் ராஜாவானான்.

1. IN THE seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham king of Judah became king.

2. ஆகாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபது வயதாயிருந்து, எருசலேமிலே பதினாறுவருஷம் அரசாண்டான்; அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல் தன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்யாமல்,

2. Ahaz was twenty years old when he began his sixteen-year reign in Jerusalem. He did not do right in the sight of the Lord his God, like David his [forefather].

3. இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளுடைய அருவருப்புகளின்படியே தன் குமாரனை முதலாய்த் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணினான்.

3. But he walked in the ways of Israel's kings, yes, and made his son pass through the fire [and offered him as a sacrifice], in accord with the abominable [idolatrous] practices of the [heathen] nations whom the Lord drove out before the Israelites.

4. மேடைகளிலும் மலைகளின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின் கீழும் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தான்.

4. He sacrificed and burned incense in the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

5. அப்பொழுது சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ரேத்சீனும், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ரெமலியாவின் குமாரன் பெக்காவும், எருசலேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்து ஆகாசை முற்றிக்கை போட்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ஜெயிக்கமாட்டாதே போனார்கள்.

5. Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to wage war; they besieged Ahaz, but could not conquer him.

6. அக்காலத்திலே சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ரேத்சீன் ஏலாத்தைத் திரும்பச் சீரியாவோடே சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு. யூதரை ஏலாத்திலிருந்து துரத்தினான்; சீரியர் ஏலாத்திற்கு வந்து இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவ்விடத்திலே குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

6. At that time, Rezin king of Syria got back Elath [in Edom] for Syria and drove the Jews from [it]. The Syrians came to Elath and dwell there to this day.

7. ஆகாஸ் அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய திகிலாத்பிலேசரிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நான் உம்முடைய அடியானும் உம்முடைய குமாரனுமாயிருக்கிறேன்; நீர் வந்து, எனக்கு விரோதமாயெழும்பின சீரியா ராஜாவின் கைக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாவின் கைக்கும் என்னை நீங்கலாக்கிவிடும் என்று சொல்லச் சொல்லி;

7. So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am your servant and son. Come up and save me out of the hands of the kings of Syria and of Israel, who are attacking me.

8. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனைப் பொக்கிஷங்களிலும் அகப்பட்ட வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் எடுத்து, அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவுக்குக் காணிக்கையாக அனுப்பினான்.

8. And Ahaz took the silver and gold in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king's house and sent a present to the king of Assyria.

9. அசீரியா ராஜா அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, தமஸ்குவுக்குப்போய் அதைப் பிடித்து, அதின் குடிகளைக் கீர்பட்டணத்திற்குச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், ரேத்சீனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

9. Assyria's king hearkened to him; he went up against Damascus, took it, carried its people captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

10. அப்பொழுது ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய திகிலாத்பிலேசருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய்த் தமஸ்குவிலுள்ள பலிபீடத்தைக் கண்டான். ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின் சாயலையும், அதினுடைய சகல வேலைப்பாடாகிய அதின் மாதிரியையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியாவுக்கு அனுப்பினான்.

10. King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw there their [heathen] altar. King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a model of the altar and an exact pattern for its construction.

11. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலிருந்து வருகிறதற்குள் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியா அப்படிக்கொத்த பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் தமஸ்குவிலிருந்து அனுப்பின கட்டளையின்படியெல்லாம் செய்தான்.

11. So Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, finishing it before King Ahaz returned.

12. ராஜா தமஸ்குவிலிருந்து வந்தபோது, அவன் அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தைப் பார்த்து, அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் சேர்ந்து, அதின்மேல் பலியிட்டு,

12. When the king came from Damascus, he looked at the altar and offered on it.

13. தன் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும் தன் போஜனபலியையும் தகனித்து, தன் பானபலியை வார்த்து, தன் சமாதானபலிகளின் இரத்தத்தை அந்தப் பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் தெளித்தான்.

13. King Ahaz burned his burnt offering and his cereal offering, poured his drink offering, and dashed the blood of his peace offerings upon that altar.

14. கர்த்தரின் சந்நிதியில் இருந்த வெண்கலப் பலிபீடத்தை அவன் தன் பலிபீடத்திற்கும் கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திற்கும் நடுவே ஆலயத்தின் முகப்பிலிருந்து எடுத்து, அதைத் தன் பலிபீடத்திற்கு வடபுறமாய் வைத்தான்.

14. The bronze altar which was before the Lord he removed from the front of the house, from between his [new] altar and the house of the Lord, and put it on the north side of his altar.

15. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியாவை நோக்கி: இந்தப் பெரிய பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் நீ காலைச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், மாலைப் போஜனபலியையும், ராஜாவின் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், அவருடைய போஜனபலியையும், தேசத்தினுடைய சகல ஜனத்தின் சர்வாங்க தகனபலியையும், அவர்கள் போஜனபலியையும், அவர்கள் பானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தி, அதின்மேல் சர்வாங்க தகனங்களின் சகல இரத்தத்தையும், பலிகளின் சகல இரத்தத்தையும் தெளிப்பாயாக; அந்த வெண்கலப் பலிபீடமோ, நான் சன்னதம் கேட்கிறதற்கு உதவும் என்றான்.

15. And King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest: Upon the principal (the new) altar, burn the morning burnt offering, the evening cereal offering, the king's burnt sacrifice and his cereal offering, with the burnt offering and cereal offering and drink offering of all the people of the land; and dash upon the [new] altar all the blood of the burnt offerings and the sacrifices. But the [old] bronze altar shall be kept for me to use to inquire by [of the Lord].

16. ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் ஆசாரியனாகிய உரியா செய்தான்.

16. Urijah the priest did all this as King Ahaz commanded.

17. பின்னும் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாஸ் ஆதாரங்களின் சவுக்கைகளை அறுத்துவிட்டு, அவைகளின் மேலிருந்த கொப்பரைகளை எடுத்து, கடல்தொட்டியைக் கீழே நிற்கிற வெண்கல ரிஷபங்களின்மேலிருந்து இறக்கி, அதைக் கற்களின் தளவரிசையிலே வைத்து,

17. [To keep Assyria's king from getting them] King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases [of the ten lavers] and removed the laver from each of them; and he took down the Sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it and put it upon stone supports.

18. ஆலயத்தின் அருகே கட்டியிருந்த ஓய்வுநாளின் மண்டபத்தையும், ராஜா பிரவேசிக்கும் மண்டபத்தையும், அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவினிமித்தம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்து அப்புறப்படுத்தினான்.

18. And the covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the temple court, and the king's outer entrance, he removed from the house of the Lord, because of the king of Assyria [who if he heard of them might seize them].

19. ஆகாஸ் செய்த மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்கள் யூதாவுடைய ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

19. The rest of the acts of Ahaz, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

20. ஆகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், அவன் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் தன் பிதாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசேக்கியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

20. Ahaz slept with his fathers and was buried [with them] in the City of David. Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
