1. பின்பு சீப் ஊரார் கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து: தாவீது எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிரான ஆகிலாமேட்டில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றார்கள்.

1. And the Ziphites come in unto Saul, at Gibeah, saying, 'Is not David hiding himself in the height of Hachilah, on the front of the desert?'

2. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: சீப் வனாந்தரத்திலே தாவீதைத் தேடும்படி எழுந்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட மூவாயிரம்பேரோடுங்கூட, சீப் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

2. And Saul riseth, and goeth down unto the wilderness of Ziph, and with him three thousand men, chosen ones of Israel, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

3. சவுல் எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிரே வழியண்டையிலிருக்கிற ஆகிலாமேட்டிலே பாளயமிறங்கினான்; தாவீது வனாந்தரத்தில் தங்கி, சவுல் தன்னைத் தொடர்ந்து வனாந்தரத்திற்கு வருகிறதைக் கண்டு,

3. And Saul encampeth in the height of Hachilah, which [is] on the front of the desert, by the way, and David is abiding in the wilderness, and he seeth that Saul hath come after him in to the wilderness;

4. தாவீது வேவுகாரரை அனுப்பி, சவுல் வந்தது நிச்சயம் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டான்.

4. and David sendeth spies, and knoweth that Saul hath come unto Nachon,

5. பின்பு தாவீது எழுந்து, சவுல் பாளயமிறங்கின இடத்திற்குப் போய், சவுலும் நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேர் என்னும் அவன் படைத்தலைவனும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற இடத்தைப் பார்த்தான்; சவுல் இரதங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

5. and David riseth, and cometh in unto the place where Saul hath encamped, and David seeth the place where Saul hath lain, and Abner son of Ner, head of his host, and Saul is lying in the path, and the people are encamping round about him.

6. தாவீது ஏத்தியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கையும், செருயாவின் குமாரனும் யோவாபின் சகோதரனுமாகிய அபிசாயையும் பார்த்து: என்னோடேகூடச் சவுலிடத்திற்குப் பாளயத்தில் இறங்கிவருகிறவன் யார் என்றதற்கு, அபிசாய்: நான் உம்மோடேகூட வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

6. And David answereth and saith unto Ahimelech the Hittite, and unto Abishai son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying, 'Who doth go down with me unto Saul, unto the camp?' and Abishai saith, 'I -- I go down with thee.'

7. அப்படியே தாவீதும் அபிசாயும் இராத்திரியிலே அந்த ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே வந்தார்கள்; இதோ, சவுல் இரதங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே படுத்து நித்திரைபண்ணினான்; அவன் தலைமாட்டில் அவனுடைய ஈட்டி நிலத்திலே குத்தியிருந்தது; அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் அப்னேரும் ஜனங்களும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

7. And David cometh -- and Abishai -- unto the people by night, and lo, Saul is lying sleeping in the path, and his spear struck into the earth at his pillow, and abner and the people are lying round about him.

8. அப்பொழுது அபிசாய் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: இன்று தேவன் உம்முடைய சத்துருவை உம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; இப்போதும் நான் அவனை ஈட்டியினால் இரண்டு குத்தாகக் குத்தாமல், ஒரே குத்தாக நிலத்தில் உருவக் குத்தட்டுமா என்றான்.

8. And Abishai saith unto David, 'God hath shut up to-day thine enemy into thy hand; and, now, let me smite him, I pray thee, with a spear, even into the earth at once -- and I do repeat [it] to him.'

9. தாவீது அபிசாயைப் பார்த்து: அவரைக் கொல்லாதே; கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவித்தவர்மேல் தன் கையைப் போட்டு, குற்றமில்லாமற்போகிறவன் யார்? என்று சொன்னான்.

9. And David saith unto Abishai, 'Destroy him not; for who hath put forth his hand against the anointed of Jehovah, and been acquitted?'

10. பின்னும் தாவீது: கர்த்தர் அவரை அடித்து, அல்லது அவருடைய காலம் வந்து, அவர் மரித்து, அல்லது அவர் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போய் மாண்டாலொழிய,

10. And David saith, 'Jehovah liveth; except Jehovah doth smite him, or his day come that he hath died, or into battle he go down, and hath been consumed --

11. நான் என் கையைக் கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவித்தவர்மேல் போடாதபடிக்கு, கர்த்தர் என்னைக் காக்கக்கடவர் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இப்போதும் அவர் தலைமாட்டில் இருக்கிற ஈட்டியையும், தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போவோம் என்றான்.

11. far be it from me, by Jehovah, from putting forth my hand against the anointed of Jehovah; and, now, take, I pray thee, the spear which [is] at his pillow, and the cruse of water, and we go away.'

12. தாவீது சவுலின் தலைமாட்டில் இருந்த ஈட்டியையும், தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டபின்பு, புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அதை ஒருவரும் காணவில்லை, அறியவுமில்லை, ஒருவரும் விழித்துக்கொள்ளவுமில்லை; கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு அயர்ந்த நித்திரை வருவித்ததினால், அவர்களெல்லாரும் தூங்கினார்கள்.

12. And David taketh the spear, and the cruse of water at the pillow of Saul, and they go away, and there is none seeing, and there is none knowing, and there is none awaking, for all of them are sleeping, for a deep sleep [from] Jehovah hath fallen upon them.

13. தாவீது கடந்து, அந்தப் பக்கத்திற்குப் போய், தங்களுக்கும் அவர்களுக்கும் நடுவே போந்த இடமுண்டாக, தூரத்திலிருக்கிற மலையின் கொடுமுடியிலே,

13. And David passeth over to the other side, and standeth on the top of the hill afar off -- great [is] the place between them;

14. ஜனங்களுக்கும் நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேருக்கும் நேராக நின்று கூப்பிட்டு: அப்னேரே, உத்தரவு சொல்லமாட்டீரா என்றான்; அதற்கு அப்னேர்: ராஜாவுக்கு நேராகக் கூக்குரலிடுகிற நீ யார் என்றான்.

14. and David calleth unto the people, and unto Abner son of Ner, saying, 'Dost thou not answer, Abner?' and Abner answereth and saith, 'Who [art] thou [who] hast called unto the king?'

15. அப்பொழுது தாவீது அப்னேரை நோக்கி: நீர் வீரன் அல்லவா? இஸ்ரவேலில் உமக்குச் சரியானவன் யார்? பின்னை நீர் உம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவைக் காக்காமற்போனதென்ன? ஜனத்தில் ஒருவன் உம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவைக் கொல்லும்படி வந்திருந்தானே.

15. And David saith unto Abner, 'Art not thou a man? and who [is] like thee in Israel? but why hast thou not watched over thy lord the king? for one of the people had come in to destroy the king, thy lord.

16. நீர் செய்த இந்தக் காரியம் நல்லதல்ல; கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணின உங்கள் ஆண்டவனை நீங்கள் காக்காமற்போனபடியினால், நீங்கள் மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரவான்கள்; இப்போதும் ராஜாவின் தலைமாட்டில் இருந்த அவருடைய ஈட்டியும் தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பும் எங்கே என்று பாரும் என்றான்.

16. Not good is this thing which thou hast done; Jehovah liveth, but ye [are] sons of death, in that ye have not watched over your lord, over the anointed of Jehovah; and now, see where the king's spear [is], and the cruse of water which [is] at his bolster.'

17. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: தாவீதின் சத்தத்தை அறிந்து, என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, இது உன் சத்தமல்லவா என்றான். அதற்குத் தாவீது: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, இது என் சத்தந்தான் என்று சொல்லி,

17. And Saul discerneth the voice of David, and saith, 'Is this thy voice, my son David?' and David saith, 'My voice, my lord, O king!'

18. பின்னும்: என் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உம்முடைய அடியானை இப்படிப் பின் தொடருகிறது என்ன? நான் என்ன செய்தேன்? என்னிடத்தில் என்ன பொல்லாப்பு இருக்கிறது?

18. and he saith, 'Why [is] this -- my lord is pursuing after his servant? for what have I done, and what [is] in my hand evil?

19. இப்பொழுது ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய அடியானுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்பாராக; கர்த்தர் உம்மை எனக்கு விரோதமாக எடுத்துவிட்டதுண்டானால், அதற்கு அவர் காணிக்கையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வாராக; மனுப்புத்திரர் அதைச் செய்தார்களேயாகில், அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகச் சபிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்; அவர்கள்: நீ போய்; அந்நிய தேவர்களைச் சேவி என்று சொல்லி, அவர்கள் இன்று என்னைக் கர்த்தருடைய சுதந்தரத்திற்கு அடுத்தவனாயிராதபடிக்கு துரத்திவிட்டார்களே.

19. And, now, let, I pray thee, my lord the king hear the words of his servant: if Jehovah hath moved thee against me, let Him accept a present; and if the sons of men -- cursed [are] they before Jehovah, for they have cast me out to-day from being admitted into the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, Go, serve other gods.

20. இப்போதும் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் என் இரத்தம் தரையில் விழாதிருப்பதாக; மலைகளில் ஒரு கவுதாரியை வேட்டையாடுகிறதுபோல, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒரு தெள்ளுப்பூச்சியைத் தேடவந்தாரோ என்றான்.

20. 'And now, let not my blood fall to the earth over-against the face of Jehovah, for the king of Israel hath come out to seek one flea, as [one] pursueth the partridge in mountains.'

21. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, திரும்பி வா; என் ஜீவன் இன்றையதினம் உன் பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருந்தபடியால், இனி உனக்கு ஒரு பொல்லாப்புஞ் செய்யேன்; இதோ, நான் மதியற்றவனாய் மகா பெரிய தப்பிதஞ்செய்தேன் என்றான்.

21. And Saul saith, 'I have sinned; turn back, my son David, for I do evil to thee no more, because that my soul hath been precious in thine eyes this day; lo, I have acted foolishly, and do err very greatly.'

22. அதற்குத் தாவீது: இதோ, ராஜாவின் ஈட்டி இங்கே இருக்கிறது; வாலிபரில் ஒருவன் இப்புறம் வந்து, அதை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு போகட்டும்.

22. And David answereth and saith, 'Lo, the king's spear; and let one of the young men pass over, and receive it;

23. கர்த்தர் அவனவனுக்கு அவனவன் நீதிக்கும் உண்மைக்கும் தக்கதாகப் பலன் அளிப்பாராக; இன்று கர்த்தர் உம்மை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருந்தும், கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவர்மேல், என் கையை நீட்ட மனதில்லாதிருந்தேன்.

23. and Jehovah doth turn back to each his righteousness and his faithfulness, in that Jehovah hath given thee to-day into [my] hand, and I have not been willing to put forth my hand against the anointed of Jehovah,

24. இதோ, உம்முடைய ஜீவன் இன்றையதினம் என் பார்வைக்கு எப்படி அருமையாயிருந்ததோ, அப்படியே என் ஜீவனும் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருப்பதினால், அவர் என்னை எல்லா உபத்திரவத்திற்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி விடுவாராக என்றான்.

24. and lo, as thy soul hath been great this day in mine eyes, so is my soul great in the eyes of Jehovah, and He doth deliver me out of all distress.'

25. அப்பொழுது சவுல் தாவீதை நோக்கி: என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன்; நீ பெரிய காரியங்களைச் செய்வாய், மேன்மேலும் பலப்படுவாய் என்றான்; அப்படியே தாவீது தன் வழியே போனான்; சவுலும் தன் ஸ்தானத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்.

25. And Saul saith unto David, 'Blessed [art] thou, my son David, also working thou dost work, and also prevailing thou dost prevail.' And David goeth on his way, and Saul hath turned back to his place.
