1. பின்பு சீப் ஊரார் கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து: தாவீது எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிரான ஆகிலாமேட்டில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றார்கள்.

1. And the Ziphites came out of the dry country to Saul to the hill, saying, Behold, David hides himself with us in the hill Hachilah, opposite Jeshimon.

2. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: சீப் வனாந்தரத்திலே தாவீதைத் தேடும்படி எழுந்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட மூவாயிரம்பேரோடுங்கூட, சீப் வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

2. And Saul arose, and went down to the Wilderness of Ziph, and with him went three thousand men chosen out of Israel, to seek David in the Wilderness of Ziph.

3. சவுல் எஷிமோனுக்கு எதிரே வழியண்டையிலிருக்கிற ஆகிலாமேட்டிலே பாளயமிறங்கினான்; தாவீது வனாந்தரத்தில் தங்கி, சவுல் தன்னைத் தொடர்ந்து வனாந்தரத்திற்கு வருகிறதைக் கண்டு,

3. And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah in front of Jeshimon, by the way, and David dwelt in the wilderness. And David saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

4. தாவீது வேவுகாரரை அனுப்பி, சவுல் வந்தது நிச்சயம் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டான்.

4. And David sent spies, and ascertained that Saul had come prepared out of Keila.

5. பின்பு தாவீது எழுந்து, சவுல் பாளயமிறங்கின இடத்திற்குப் போய், சவுலும் நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேர் என்னும் அவன் படைத்தலைவனும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற இடத்தைப் பார்த்தான்; சவுல் இரதங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

5. And David arose secretly, and went into the place where Saul was sleeping. And Abner the son of Ner was there, the captain of his army. And Saul was sleeping in a chariot, and the people had encamped along round about him.

6. தாவீது ஏத்தியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கையும், செருயாவின் குமாரனும் யோவாபின் சகோதரனுமாகிய அபிசாயையும் பார்த்து: என்னோடேகூடச் சவுலிடத்திற்குப் பாளயத்தில் இறங்கிவருகிறவன் யார் என்றதற்கு, அபிசாய்: நான் உம்மோடேகூட வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

6. And David answered and spoke to Abimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, the brother of Joab, saying, Who will go in with me to Saul into the camp? And Abishai said, I will go in with you.

7. அப்படியே தாவீதும் அபிசாயும் இராத்திரியிலே அந்த ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே வந்தார்கள்; இதோ, சவுல் இரதங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே படுத்து நித்திரைபண்ணினான்; அவன் தலைமாட்டில் அவனுடைய ஈட்டி நிலத்திலே குத்தியிருந்தது; அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் அப்னேரும் ஜனங்களும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

7. So David and Abishai went in among the people by night. And behold, Saul was fast asleep in the chariot, and his spear was stuck in the ground near his head, and Abner and his people slept round about him.

8. அப்பொழுது அபிசாய் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: இன்று தேவன் உம்முடைய சத்துருவை உம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; இப்போதும் நான் அவனை ஈட்டியினால் இரண்டு குத்தாகக் குத்தாமல், ஒரே குத்தாக நிலத்தில் உருவக் குத்தட்டுமா என்றான்.

8. And Abishai said to David, The Lord has delivered your enemy into your hands this day, and now I will strike him to the earth with this spear, once [for all], and I will not have to strike him again.

9. தாவீது அபிசாயைப் பார்த்து: அவரைக் கொல்லாதே; கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவித்தவர்மேல் தன் கையைப் போட்டு, குற்றமில்லாமற்போகிறவன் யார்? என்று சொன்னான்.

9. And David said to Abishai, Do not lay him low, for who shall lift up his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?

10. பின்னும் தாவீது: கர்த்தர் அவரை அடித்து, அல்லது அவருடைய காலம் வந்து, அவர் மரித்து, அல்லது அவர் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போய் மாண்டாலொழிய,

10. And David said, As the Lord lives, the Lord shall strike him, or his day shall come and he die, or he shall go down to battle and be added [to his fathers].

11. நான் என் கையைக் கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவித்தவர்மேல் போடாதபடிக்கு, கர்த்தர் என்னைக் காக்கக்கடவர் என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இப்போதும் அவர் தலைமாட்டில் இருக்கிற ஈட்டியையும், தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போவோம் என்றான்.

11. The Lord forbid that I should lift up my hand against the Lord's anointed. And now take the spear from his bolster, and the pitcher of water, and let us return home.

12. தாவீது சவுலின் தலைமாட்டில் இருந்த ஈட்டியையும், தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டபின்பு, புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அதை ஒருவரும் காணவில்லை, அறியவுமில்லை, ஒருவரும் விழித்துக்கொள்ளவுமில்லை; கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு அயர்ந்த நித்திரை வருவித்ததினால், அவர்களெல்லாரும் தூங்கினார்கள்.

12. So David took the spear, and the pitcher of water from his bolster, and they went home. And there was no one that saw, and no one that knew, and there was no one that awoke, all being asleep, for a stupor from the Lord had fallen upon them.

13. தாவீது கடந்து, அந்தப் பக்கத்திற்குப் போய், தங்களுக்கும் அவர்களுக்கும் நடுவே போந்த இடமுண்டாக, தூரத்திலிருக்கிற மலையின் கொடுமுடியிலே,

13. So David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of a hill afar off, and there was a good distance between them.

14. ஜனங்களுக்கும் நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேருக்கும் நேராக நின்று கூப்பிட்டு: அப்னேரே, உத்தரவு சொல்லமாட்டீரா என்றான்; அதற்கு அப்னேர்: ராஜாவுக்கு நேராகக் கூக்குரலிடுகிற நீ யார் என்றான்.

14. And David called to the people and spoke to Abner, saying, Will you not answer, Abner? And Abner answered and said, Who are you that calls?

15. அப்பொழுது தாவீது அப்னேரை நோக்கி: நீர் வீரன் அல்லவா? இஸ்ரவேலில் உமக்குச் சரியானவன் யார்? பின்னை நீர் உம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவைக் காக்காமற்போனதென்ன? ஜனத்தில் ஒருவன் உம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவைக் கொல்லும்படி வந்திருந்தானே.

15. And David said to Abner, [Are] you not a man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then do you not guard your lord the king? For one out of the people went in to destroy your lord the king.

16. நீர் செய்த இந்தக் காரியம் நல்லதல்ல; கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணின உங்கள் ஆண்டவனை நீங்கள் காக்காமற்போனபடியினால், நீங்கள் மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரவான்கள்; இப்போதும் ராஜாவின் தலைமாட்டில் இருந்த அவருடைய ஈட்டியும் தண்ணீர்ச்செம்பும் எங்கே என்று பாரும் என்றான்.

16. And this thing is not good which you have done. As the Lord lives, you are worthy of death, you who guard your lord the king, the Lord's anointed. And now behold, the spear of the king, and the jug of water- where are the articles that should be at his head?

17. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: தாவீதின் சத்தத்தை அறிந்து, என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, இது உன் சத்தமல்லவா என்றான். அதற்குத் தாவீது: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, இது என் சத்தந்தான் என்று சொல்லி,

17. And Saul recognized the voice of David, and said, Is this your voice, son David? and David said, I am your servant, my lord, O king.

18. பின்னும்: என் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உம்முடைய அடியானை இப்படிப் பின் தொடருகிறது என்ன? நான் என்ன செய்தேன்? என்னிடத்தில் என்ன பொல்லாப்பு இருக்கிறது?

18. And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his servant? For in what [manner] have I sinned? And what unrighteousness has been found in me?

19. இப்பொழுது ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய அடியானுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்பாராக; கர்த்தர் உம்மை எனக்கு விரோதமாக எடுத்துவிட்டதுண்டானால், அதற்கு அவர் காணிக்கையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வாராக; மனுப்புத்திரர் அதைச் செய்தார்களேயாகில், அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகச் சபிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்; அவர்கள்: நீ போய்; அந்நிய தேவர்களைச் சேவி என்று சொல்லி, அவர்கள் இன்று என்னைக் கர்த்தருடைய சுதந்தரத்திற்கு அடுத்தவனாயிராதபடிக்கு துரத்திவிட்டார்களே.

19. And now, let my lord the king hear the word of his servant: if God stirs you up against me, let your offering be acceptable; but if [it is] the children of men, [may] they be cursed before the Lord, for they have cast me out this day, so that I should not be established in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Go, serve other gods.

20. இப்போதும் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் என் இரத்தம் தரையில் விழாதிருப்பதாக; மலைகளில் ஒரு கவுதாரியை வேட்டையாடுகிறதுபோல, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒரு தெள்ளுப்பூச்சியைத் தேடவந்தாரோ என்றான்.

20. And now let not my blood fall to the ground before the Lord, for the king of Israel has come forth to seek your life, as the night hawk pursues its [prey] in the mountains.

21. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன்; என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, திரும்பி வா; என் ஜீவன் இன்றையதினம் உன் பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருந்தபடியால், இனி உனக்கு ஒரு பொல்லாப்புஞ் செய்யேன்; இதோ, நான் மதியற்றவனாய் மகா பெரிய தப்பிதஞ்செய்தேன் என்றான்.

21. And Saul said, I have sinned: turn, son David, for I will not hurt you, because my life was precious in your eyes; and today I have been foolish and have erred exceedingly.

22. அதற்குத் தாவீது: இதோ, ராஜாவின் ஈட்டி இங்கே இருக்கிறது; வாலிபரில் ஒருவன் இப்புறம் வந்து, அதை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு போகட்டும்.

22. And David answered and said, Behold, the spear of the king. Let one of the servants come over and take it.

23. கர்த்தர் அவனவனுக்கு அவனவன் நீதிக்கும் உண்மைக்கும் தக்கதாகப் பலன் அளிப்பாராக; இன்று கர்த்தர் உம்மை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருந்தும், கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவர்மேல், என் கையை நீட்ட மனதில்லாதிருந்தேன்.

23. And the Lord shall recompense each according to his righteousness and his truth, since the Lord delivered you this day into my hands, and I would not lift my hand against the Lord's anointed.

24. இதோ, உம்முடைய ஜீவன் இன்றையதினம் என் பார்வைக்கு எப்படி அருமையாயிருந்ததோ, அப்படியே என் ஜீவனும் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருப்பதினால், அவர் என்னை எல்லா உபத்திரவத்திற்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி விடுவாராக என்றான்.

24. And behold, as your life has been precious this very day in my eyes, so let my life be precious before the Lord, and may He protect me, and deliver me out of all affliction.

25. அப்பொழுது சவுல் தாவீதை நோக்கி: என் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதே, நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன்; நீ பெரிய காரியங்களைச் செய்வாய், மேன்மேலும் பலப்படுவாய் என்றான்; அப்படியே தாவீது தன் வழியே போனான்; சவுலும் தன் ஸ்தானத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்.

25. And Saul said to David, Blessed are you, my son; and you shall surely do valiantly, and [shall] surely prevail. And David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
