1. ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும் காத் புத்திரருக்கும் ஆடுமாடுகள் மிகவும் திரளாயிருந்தது; அவர்கள் யாசேர் தேசத்தையும் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தையும் பார்த்தபோது, அது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடமென்று கண்டார்கள்.

1. And much cattle hath been to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad, very many; and they see the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, and lo, the place [is] a place [for] cattle;

2. ஆகையால் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் காத் புத்திரரும் வந்து, மோசேயையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரையும் சபையின் பிரபுக்களையும் நோக்கி:

2. and the sons of Gad, and the sons of Reuben, come in and speak unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the company, saying:

3. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சபைக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடித்த அதரோத், தீபோன், யாசேர், நிம்ரா, எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, சேபாம், நேபோ, பெயோன் என்னும் பட்டணங்களைச் சேர்ந்த நாடானது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடம்.

3. 'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon --

4. உமது அடியாருக்கு ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டு.

4. the land which Jehovah hath smitten before the company of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle.'

5. உம்முடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயை கிடைத்ததானால், எங்களை யோர்தான் நதிக்கு அப்புறம் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணீராக; இந்த நாட்டை உமது அடியாருக்குக் காணியாட்சியாகக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

5. And they say, 'If we have found grace in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession; cause us not to pass over the Jordan.'

6. அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரரையும் ரூபன் புத்திரரையும் நோக்கி: உங்கள் சகோதரர் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகையில், நீங்கள் இங்கே இருப்பீர்களோ?

6. And Moses saith to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, 'Do your brethren go in to the battle, and ye -- do ye sit here?

7. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்கு அவர்கள் போகாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணுகிறதென்ன?

7. and why discourage ye the heart of the sons of Israel from passing over unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them?

8. அந்த தேசத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பினபோது அவர்களும் இப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

8. 'Thus did your fathers in my sending them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the land;

9. அவர்கள் எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்கு மட்டும் போய், அத்தேசத்தைப் பார்த்து வந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்குப் போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. and they go up unto the valley of Eshcol, and see the land, and discourage the heart of the sons of Israel so as not to go in unto the land which Jehovah hath given to them;

10. அதினால் கர்த்தர் அந்நாழிலே கோபம் மூண்டவராகி:

10. and the anger of Jehovah burneth in that day, and He sweareth, saying,

11. உத்தமமாய் என்னைப் பின்பற்றின கேனேசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரன் காலேபும், நூனின் குமாரன் யோசுவாவும் தவிர,

11. They do not see -- the men who are coming up out of Egypt from a son of twenty years and upward -- the ground which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, for they have not been fully after Me;

12. எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களில் இருபது வயதுமுதல் அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட மனிதர்களில் ஒருவரும் என்னை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றாதபடியால், அவர்கள் நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்த தேசத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

12. save Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua son of Nun, for they have been fully after Jehovah;

13. அப்படியே கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் மூண்டது; கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்த அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் நிர்மூலமாகுமட்டும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்திலே நாற்பது வருஷம் அலையப்பண்ணினார்.

13. and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He causeth them to wander in the wilderness forty years, until the consumption of all the generation which is doing the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah.

14. இப்பொழுதும் இதோ இஸ்ரவேலர் மேலிருக்கும் கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தை இன்னும் அதிகரிக்கப்பண்ணும்படி, நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் ஸ்தானத்திலே பாவமுள்ள பெருங்கூட்டமாய் எழும்பியிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

14. 'And lo, ye have risen in the stead of your fathers, an increase of men -- sinners, to add yet to the fury of the anger of Jehovah toward Israel;

15. நீங்கள் அவரைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கினால், அவர் இன்னும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் இருக்கப்பண்ணுவார்; இப்படி நீங்கள் இந்த ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் அழியப்பண்ணுவீர்கள் என்றான்.

15. when ye turn back from after Him, then He hath added yet to leave him in the wilderness, and ye have done corruptly to all this people.'

16. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவன் சமீபத்தில் வந்து: எங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும், எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும் இங்கே கட்டுவோம்.

16. And they come nigh unto him, and say, 'Folds for the flock we build for our cattle here, and cities for our infants;

17. நாங்களோ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை அவர்கள் ஸ்தானத்திலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்குமளவும், யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்த் தீவிரத்தோடே அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடப்போம்; எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் இத்தேசத்துக் குடிகளினிமித்தம் அரணான பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருக்கக் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

17. and we -- we are armed hasting before the sons of Israel till that we have brought them in unto their place; and our infants have dwelt in the cities of defence because of the inhabitants of the land;

18. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யாவரும் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும் வரைக்கும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்புவதில்லை.

18. we do not turn back unto our houses till the sons of Israel have inherited each his inheritance,

19. யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் கிழக்கே எங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரம் உண்டானபடியினாலே, நாங்கள் அவர்களோடேகூட யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலும், அதற்கு அப்புறத்திலும் சுதந்தரம் வாங்கமாட்டோம் என்றார்கள்.

19. for we do not inherit with them beyond the Jordan and yonder, for our inheritance hath come unto us beyond the Jordan at the [sun] -rising.'

20. அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்து, கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராகி,

20. And Moses saith unto them, 'If ye do this thing: if ye are armed before Jehovah for battle,

21. கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய சத்துருக்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்திற்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிடுமளவும், நீங்கள் யாவரும் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து போவீர்களானால்,

21. and every armed one of you hath passed over the Jordan before Jehovah, till his dispossessing His enemies from before Him,

22. அத்தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக வசப்படுத்தப்பட்டபின்பு, நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்து, கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு முன்பாகவும், குற்றமில்லாதிருப்பீர்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு இந்த தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகும்.

22. and the land hath been subdued before Jehovah -- then afterwards ye do turn back, and have been acquitted by Jehovah, and by Israel; and this land hath been to you for a possession before Jehovah.

23. நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்யாமற்போனால், கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்தவர்களாயிருப்பீர்கள்; உங்கள் பாவம் உங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிக்கும் என்று நிச்சயமாய் அறியுங்கள்.

23. 'And if ye do not so, lo, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and know ye your sin, that it doth find you;

24. உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும், உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டி, உங்கள் வாய்மொழியின்படியே செய்யுங்கள் என்றான்.

24. build for yourselves cities for your infants, and folds for your flock, and that which is going out from your mouth do ye.'

25. அப்பொழுது காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் மோசேயை நோக்கி: எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் செய்வோம்.

25. And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben speak unto Moses, saying, 'Thy servants do as my lord is commanding;

26. எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் எங்கள் மனைவிகளும், எங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலான எங்களுடைய எல்லா மிருகஜீவன்களோடும், இங்கே கீலேயாத்தின் பட்டணங்களில் இருப்பார்கள்.

26. our infants, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts, are there in cities of Gilead,

27. உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்களோ எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, ஒவ்வொருவரும் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய், கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

27. and thy servants pass over, every armed one of the host, before Jehovah, to battle, as my lord is saying.'

28. அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களுக்காக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும், நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திர பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவர்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டு:

28. And Moses commandeth concerning them Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel;

29. காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் அவரவர் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் உங்களோடேகூட யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோனால், அத்தேசம் உங்களுக்கு வசப்பட்டபின்பு, அவர்களுக்குக் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.

29. and Moses saith unto them, 'If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben pass over with you the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land hath been subdued before you, then ye have given to them the land of Gilead for a possession;

30. உங்களோடேகூட யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்க் கடந்துபோகாதிருந்தார்களேயானால், அவர்கள் உங்கள் நடுவே கானான் தேசத்திலே சுதந்தரம் அடையக்கடவர்கள் என்றான்.

30. and if they do not pass over armed with you, then they have possessions in your midst in the land of Canaan.'

31. காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே செய்வோம்.

31. And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answer, saying, 'That which Jehovah hath spoken unto thy servants -- so we do;

32. யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலே எங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தின் காணியாட்சி எங்களுக்கு உரியதாகும்படி நாங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் கானான் தேசத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

32. we -- we pass over armed before Jehovah [to] the land of Canaan, and with us [is] the possession of our inheritance beyond the Jordan.'

33. அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரருக்கும், ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும், யோசேப்பின் குமாரனாகிய மனாசேயின் பாதிக்கோத்திரத்தாருக்கும், எமோரியருடைய ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், பாசானுடைய ராஜாவாகிய ஓகின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், அவைகளைச் சேர்ந்த தேசங்களையும் அவைகளின் எல்லையைச் சுற்றிலுமுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.

33. And Moses giveth to them, to the sons of Gad, and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land by its cities, in the borders, the cities of the land round about.

34. பின்பு காத் சந்ததியார் தீபோன், அதரோத் ஆரோவேர்,

34. And the sons of Gad build Dihon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

35. ஆத்ரோத், சோபான், யாசேர், யொகிபேயா,

35. and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,

36. பெத்நிம்ரா, பெத்தாரன் என்னும் அரணான பட்டணங்களையும் ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டினார்கள்.

36. and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, cities of defence, and sheepfolds.

37. ரூபன் சந்ததியார் எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, கீரியத்தாயீம்,

37. And the sons of Reuben have build Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,

38. பேர்கள் மாற்றப்பட்ட நேபோ, பாகால்மெயோன், சீப்மா என்பவைகளைக் கட்டி, தாங்கள் கட்டின பட்டணங்களுக்கு வேறே பேர்களைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

38. and Nebo, and Baal-Meon (changed in name), and Shibmah, and they call by [these] names the names of the cities which they have built.

39. மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் புத்திரர் கீலேயாத்திற்குப் போய், அதைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதிலிருந்த எமோரியரைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

39. And sons of Machir son of Manasseh go to Gilead, and capture it, and dispossess the Amorite, who [is] in it;

40. அப்பொழுது மோசே கீலேயாத்தை மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் அதிலே குடியேறினார்கள்.

40. and Moses giveth Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwelleth in it.

41. மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய யாவீர் போய், அவர்களுடைய கிராமங்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவைகளுக்கு யாவீர் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

41. And Jair son of Manasseh hath gone and captureth their towns, and calleth them 'Towns of Jair;'

42. நோபாக் போய், கேனாத்தையும், அதின் கிராமங்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதற்குத் தன் நாமத்தின்படியே நோபாக் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

42. and Nobah hath gone and captureth Kenath, and its villages, and calleth it Nobah, by his own name.
