1. ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும் காத் புத்திரருக்கும் ஆடுமாடுகள் மிகவும் திரளாயிருந்தது; அவர்கள் யாசேர் தேசத்தையும் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தையும் பார்த்தபோது, அது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடமென்று கண்டார்கள்.

1. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a multitude of cattle, very great. And they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead; and the place was a place for cattle.

2. ஆகையால் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் காத் புத்திரரும் வந்து, மோசேயையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரையும் சபையின் பிரபுக்களையும் நோக்கி:

2. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

3. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சபைக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடித்த அதரோத், தீபோன், யாசேர், நிம்ரா, எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, சேபாம், நேபோ, பெயோன் என்னும் பட்டணங்களைச் சேர்ந்த நாடானது ஆடுமாடுகளுக்குத் தகுந்த இடம்.

3. Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Shebam, Nebo, and Beon,

4. உமது அடியாருக்கு ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டு.

4. the land which the Lord has delivered up before the children of Israel, is pasture land, and your servants have cattle.

5. உம்முடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயை கிடைத்ததானால், எங்களை யோர்தான் நதிக்கு அப்புறம் கடந்துபோகப்பண்ணீராக; இந்த நாட்டை உமது அடியாருக்குக் காணியாட்சியாகக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

5. And they said, If we have found grace in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession, and do not cause us to pass over the Jordan.

6. அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரரையும் ரூபன் புத்திரரையும் நோக்கி: உங்கள் சகோதரர் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகையில், நீங்கள் இங்கே இருப்பீர்களோ?

6. And Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, Shall your brothers go to war, and shall you sit here?

7. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்கு அவர்கள் போகாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணுகிறதென்ன?

7. And why do you pervert the minds of the children of Israel, that they should not cross over into the land, which the Lord gives them?

8. அந்த தேசத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்பினபோது அவர்களும் இப்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

8. Did not your fathers do thus, when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land?

9. அவர்கள் எஸ்கோல் பள்ளத்தாக்கு மட்டும் போய், அத்தேசத்தைப் பார்த்து வந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திற்குப் போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்கள் இருதயத்தைத் திடனற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. And they went up to the valley of the cluster, and spied the land, and turned aside the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land, which the Lord gave them.

10. அதினால் கர்த்தர் அந்நாழிலே கோபம் மூண்டவராகி:

10. And the Lord was very angry in that day, and swore, saying,

11. உத்தமமாய் என்னைப் பின்பற்றின கேனேசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரன் காலேபும், நூனின் குமாரன் யோசுவாவும் தவிர,

11. Surely these men who came up out of Egypt from twenty years old and upward, who know good and evil, shall not see the land which I swore [to give] to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, for they have not closely followed after Me;

12. எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களில் இருபது வயதுமுதல் அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட மனிதர்களில் ஒருவரும் என்னை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றாதபடியால், அவர்கள் நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்த தேசத்தைக் காண்பதில்லை என்று ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

12. except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who was set apart, and Joshua the son of Nun, for they closely followed after the Lord.

13. அப்படியே கர்த்தருடைய கோபம் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் மூண்டது; கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்த அந்தச் சந்ததியெல்லாம் நிர்மூலமாகுமட்டும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்திலே நாற்பது வருஷம் அலையப்பண்ணினார்.

13. And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and for forty years He caused them to wander in the wilderness, until all the generation which did evil in the sight of the Lord was extinct.

14. இப்பொழுதும் இதோ இஸ்ரவேலர் மேலிருக்கும் கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தின் உக்கிரத்தை இன்னும் அதிகரிக்கப்பண்ணும்படி, நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் ஸ்தானத்திலே பாவமுள்ள பெருங்கூட்டமாய் எழும்பியிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

14. Behold, you have risen up in the room of your fathers, a combination of sinful men, to increase yet farther the fierce wrath of the Lord against Israel.

15. நீங்கள் அவரைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கினால், அவர் இன்னும் அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் இருக்கப்பண்ணுவார்; இப்படி நீங்கள் இந்த ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் அழியப்பண்ணுவீர்கள் என்றான்.

15. For you will turn away from Him to desert Him yet once more in the wilderness, and you will sin against this whole congregation.

16. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவன் சமீபத்தில் வந்து: எங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும், எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும் இங்கே கட்டுவோம்.

16. And they came to him, and said, We will build here folds for our cattle, and cities for our possessions;

17. நாங்களோ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை அவர்கள் ஸ்தானத்திலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்குமளவும், யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்த் தீவிரத்தோடே அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக நடப்போம்; எங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் இத்தேசத்துக் குடிகளினிமித்தம் அரணான பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருக்கக் கேட்டுக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

17. and we will arm ourselves and go as an advanced guard before the children of Israel, until we shall have brought them into their place; and our possessions shall remain in walled cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

18. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யாவரும் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும் வரைக்கும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் வீடுகளுக்குத் திரும்புவதில்லை.

18. We will not return to our houses till the children of Israel shall have been distributed, each to his own inheritance.

19. யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்தில் கிழக்கே எங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரம் உண்டானபடியினாலே, நாங்கள் அவர்களோடேகூட யோர்தானுக்கு அக்கரையிலும், அதற்கு அப்புறத்திலும் சுதந்தரம் வாங்கமாட்டோம் என்றார்கள்.

19. And we will not any longer inherit with them from the other side of the Jordan and onwards, because we have our full inheritance on the side beyond the Jordan eastward.

20. அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்து, கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராகி,

20. And Moses said to them, If you will do according to these words, if you will arm yourselves before the Lord for battle,

21. கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய சத்துருக்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்திற்கு முன்னின்று துரத்திவிடுமளவும், நீங்கள் யாவரும் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து போவீர்களானால்,

21. and everyone of you will pass over the Jordan fully armed before the Lord, until his enemy be destroyed from before his face,

22. அத்தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக வசப்படுத்தப்பட்டபின்பு, நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்து, கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாகவும், இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு முன்பாகவும், குற்றமில்லாதிருப்பீர்கள்; அதற்குப்பின்பு இந்த தேசம் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உங்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகும்.

22. and the land shall be subdued before the Lord, then afterwards you shall return, and be guiltless before the Lord, and as regards to Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before the Lord.

23. நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்யாமற்போனால், கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்தவர்களாயிருப்பீர்கள்; உங்கள் பாவம் உங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து பிடிக்கும் என்று நிச்சயமாய் அறியுங்கள்.

23. But if you will not do so, you will sin against the Lord; and you shall know your sin, when afflictions shall come upon you.

24. உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பட்டணங்களையும், உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளுக்காகத் தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டி, உங்கள் வாய்மொழியின்படியே செய்யுங்கள் என்றான்.

24. And you shall build for yourselves cities for your store, and folds for your cattle; and you shall do that which proceeds out of your mouth.

25. அப்பொழுது காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் மோசேயை நோக்கி: எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் செய்வோம்.

25. And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad spoke to Moses, saying, Your servants will do as our Lord commands.

26. எங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் எங்கள் மனைவிகளும், எங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலான எங்களுடைய எல்லா மிருகஜீவன்களோடும், இங்கே கீலேயாத்தின் பட்டணங்களில் இருப்பார்கள்.

26. Our store, and our wives, and all our cattle shall be in the cities of Gilead.

27. உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்களோ எங்கள் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, ஒவ்வொருவரும் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய், கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

27. But your servants will go over all armed and set in order before the Lord to battle, as the Lord says.

28. அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களுக்காக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கும், நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவாவுக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திர பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவர்களுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டு:

28. And Moses appointed to them [for judges] Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chiefs of the families of the tribes of Israel.

29. காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் அவரவர் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் உங்களோடேகூட யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோனால், அத்தேசம் உங்களுக்கு வசப்பட்டபின்பு, அவர்களுக்குக் கீலேயாத் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.

29. And Moses said to them, If the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad will pass over the Jordan with you, everyone armed for war before the Lord, and you shall subdue the land before you, then you shall give to them the land of Gilead for a possession.

30. உங்களோடேகூட யுத்தசன்னத்தராய்க் கடந்துபோகாதிருந்தார்களேயானால், அவர்கள் உங்கள் நடுவே கானான் தேசத்திலே சுதந்தரம் அடையக்கடவர்கள் என்றான்.

30. But if they will not pass over armed with you to war before the Lord, then shall you cause to pass over their possessions and their wives and their cattle before you into the land of Canaan, and they shall inherit with you in the land of Canaan.

31. காத் புத்திரரும் ரூபன் புத்திரரும் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே செய்வோம்.

31. And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad answered, saying, Whatsoever the Lord says to His servants, that will we do.

32. யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலே எங்கள் சுதந்தரத்தின் காணியாட்சி எங்களுக்கு உரியதாகும்படி நாங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய சமுகத்தில் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் கானான் தேசத்திற்குப் போவோம் என்றார்கள்.

32. We will go over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, and you shall give us our inheritance beyond the Jordan.

33. அப்பொழுது மோசே காத் புத்திரருக்கும், ரூபன் புத்திரருக்கும், யோசேப்பின் குமாரனாகிய மனாசேயின் பாதிக்கோத்திரத்தாருக்கும், எமோரியருடைய ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், பாசானுடைய ராஜாவாகிய ஓகின் ராஜ்யத்தையும், அவைகளைச் சேர்ந்த தேசங்களையும் அவைகளின் எல்லையைச் சுற்றிலுமுள்ள பட்டணங்களையும் கொடுத்தான்.

33. And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, and to the half tribe of Mannasseh of the sons of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with its coasts, the cities of the land round about.

34. பின்பு காத் சந்ததியார் தீபோன், அதரோத் ஆரோவேர்,

34. And the sons of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,

35. ஆத்ரோத், சோபான், யாசேர், யொகிபேயா,

35. Sophar, Jazer, and they set them up,

36. பெத்நிம்ரா, பெத்தாரன் என்னும் அரணான பட்டணங்களையும் ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களையும் கட்டினார்கள்.

36. and Nimrah, and Beth Haran, strong cities, and folds for sheep.

37. ரூபன் சந்ததியார் எஸ்போன், எலெயாலெ, கீரியத்தாயீம்,

37. And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,

38. பேர்கள் மாற்றப்பட்ட நேபோ, பாகால்மெயோன், சீப்மா என்பவைகளைக் கட்டி, தாங்கள் கட்டின பட்டணங்களுக்கு வேறே பேர்களைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

38. and Baal Meon, surrounded [with walls], and Shibma; and they called the names of the cities which they built, after their own names.

39. மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் புத்திரர் கீலேயாத்திற்குப் போய், அதைக்கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதிலிருந்த எமோரியரைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்.

39. And a son of Machir the son of Mannasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and destroyed the Amorites who dwelt in it.

40. அப்பொழுது மோசே கீலேயாத்தை மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அவர்கள் அதிலே குடியேறினார்கள்.

40. And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Mannasseh, and he dwelt there.

41. மனாசேயின் குமாரனாகிய யாவீர் போய், அவர்களுடைய கிராமங்களைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவைகளுக்கு யாவீர் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

41. And Jair the son of Mannasseh went and took their villages, and called them the villages of Jair.

42. நோபாக் போய், கேனாத்தையும், அதின் கிராமங்களையும் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதற்குத் தன் நாமத்தின்படியே நோபாக் என்று பேரிட்டான்.

42. And Nobah went and took Kohath and her villages, and called them Nobah after his name.
