1. பிள்ளைகளே, நீங்கள் தகப்பன் போதகத்தைக் கேட்டு, புத்தியை அடையும்படி கவனியுங்கள்.

1. Hear, ye sons, the correction of a father, and attend, that ye may know understanding.

2. நான் உங்களுக்கு நற்போதகத்தைத் தருகிறேன்; என் உபதேசத்தை விடாதிருங்கள்.

2. For, good teaching, have I given you, mine instruction, do not ye forsake.

3. நான் என் தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமான குமாரனும், என் தாய்க்கு மிகவும் அருமையான ஒரே பிள்ளையுமானவன்.

3. For, a son, became I to my father, tender and most precious in the sight of my mother.

4. அவர் எனக்குப் போதித்துச் சொன்னது: உன் இருதயம் என் வார்த்தைகளைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளக்கடவது; என் கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொள், அப்பொழுது பிழைப்பாய்.

4. So he taught me, and said to me Let thy heart, lay hold of my words, Keep my commandments and live!

5. ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி, புத்தியையும் சம்பாதி; என் வாயின் வார்த்தைகளை மறவாமலும் விட்டு விலகாமலும் இரு.

5. Acquire wisdom, acquire understanding, Do not forget, neither decline thou from the sayings of my mouth.

6. அதை விடாதே, அது உன்னைத் தற்காக்கும்; அதின்மேல் பிரியமாயிரு, அது உன்னைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.

6. Do not forsake her, and she will guard thee, love her and she will keep thee.

7. ஞானமே முக்கியம், ஞானத்தைச் சம்பாதி; என்னத்தைச் சம்பாதித்தாலும் புத்தியைச் சம்பாதித்துக்கொள்.

7. The principal thing, is wisdom, acquire thou wisdom, With all thine acquisition, acquire thou understanding.

8. நீ அதை மேன்மைப்படுத்து, அது உன்னை மேன்மைப்படுத்தும்; நீ அதைத் தழுவிக்கொண்டால், அது உன்னைக் கனம்பண்ணும்.

8. Exalt her, and she will set thee on high, she will bring thee to honour, when thou dust embrace her:

9. அது உன் தலைக்கு அலங்காரமான முடியைக் கொடுக்கும்; அது மகிமையான கிரீடத்தை உனக்குச் சூட்டும்.

9. She will give for thy head, a wreath of beauty, A crown of adorning, will she bestow upon thee.

10. என் மகனே, கேள், என் வார்த்தைகளை ஏற்றுக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன் ஆயுசின் வருஷங்கள் அதிகமாகும்.

10. Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and they will multiply to thee the years of life.

11. ஞானமார்க்கத்தை நான் உனக்குப் போதித்தேன்; செவ்வையான பாதைகளிலே உன்னை நடத்தினேன்.

11. In the way of wisdom, have I taught thee, I have guided thee in tracks of uprightness.

12. நீ அவைகளில் நடக்கும்போது உன் நடைகளுக்கு இடுக்கண் உண்டாவதில்லை; நீ அவைகளில் ஓடினாலும் இடறமாட்டாய்.

12. When thou walkest, thy step shall not be hemmed in, and, if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13. புத்திமதியை உறுதியாய்ப் பற்றிக்கொள், அதை விட்டுவிடாதே; அதைக்காத்துக்கொள், அதுவே உனக்கு ஜீவன்.

13. Take fast hold of correction, let her not go, keep her, for, she, is thy life.

14. துன்மார்க்கருடைய பாதையில் பிரவேசியாதே; தீயோருடைய வழியில் நடவாதே.

14. Upon the path of the lawless, do not thou enter, and do not advance in the way of the wicked:

15. அதை வெறுத்துவிடு, அதின் வழியாய்ப் போகாதே; அதை விட்டு விலகிக் கடந்துபோ.

15. Avoid it, do not pass thereon turn from it, and depart.

16. பொல்லாப்புச் செய்தாலொழிய அவர்களுக்கு நித்திரை வராது; அவர்கள் யாரையாகிலும் விழப்பண்ணாதிருந்தால் அவர்கள் தூக்கம் கலைந்துபோகும்.

16. For they sleep not, unless they can do mischief, They rob themselves of their sleep, if they cannot cause someone to stumble,

17. அவர்கள் ஆகாமியத்தின் அப்பத்தைப் புசித்து, கொடுமையின் இரசத்தைக் குடிக்கிறார்கள்.

17. For they consume bread gotten by lawlessness, and, wine obtained by violence, they drink.

18. நீதிமான்களுடைய பாதை நடுப்பகல்வரைக்கும் அதிகமதிகமாய்ப் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப்பிரகாசம் போலிருக்கும்.

18. But, the path of the righteous, is as the light of dawn, going on and brightening, unto meridian day.

19. துன்மார்க்கருடைய பாதையோ காரிருளைப்போலிருக்கும்; தாங்கள் இடறுவது இன்னதில் என்று அறியார்கள்.

19. The way of the lawless, is like darkness, they know not, at what they stumble.

20. என் மகனே, என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனி; என் வசனங்களுக்கு உன் செவியைச் சாய்.

20. My son, to my words, attend, to my sayings, incline thou thine ear;

21. அவைகள் உன் கண்களை விட்டுப் பிரியாதிருப்பதாக; அவைகளை உன் இருதயத்துக்குள்ளே காத்துக்கொள்.

21. Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart;

22. அவைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கிறவர்களுக்கு அவைகள் ஜீவனும், அவர்கள் உடலுக்கெல்லாம் ஆரோக்கியமுமாம்.

22. For, life, they are, to them who find them, and, to every part of one's flesh, they bring healing.

23. எல்லாக் காவலோடும் உன் இருதயத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதினிடத்தினின்று ஜீவவூற்று புறப்படும்.

23. Above all that must be guarded, keep thou thy heart, for, out of it, are the issues of life.

24. வாயின் தாறுமாறுகளை உன்னை விட்டகற்றி, உதடுகளின் மாறுபாட்டை உனக்குத் தூரப்படுத்து.

24. Remove from thee, perverseness of mouth, and, craftiness of lips, put far from thee.

25. உன் கண்கள் நேராய் நோக்கக்கடவது; உன் கண்ணிமைகள் உனக்கு முன்னே செவ்வையாய்ப் பார்க்கக்கடவது.

25. Let, thine eyes, right onward, look, and, thine eyelashes, point straight before thee.

26. உன் கால் நடையைச் சீர்தூக்கிப்பார்; உன் வழிகளெல்லாம் நிலைவரப்பட்டிருப்பதாக.
எபிரேயர் 12:13

26. Make level the track of thy foot, that, all thy ways, may be directed aright:

27. வலதுபுறமாவது இடதுபுறமாவது சாயாதே; உன் காலைத் தீமைக்கு விலக்குவாயாக.

27. Decline not, to the right hand or to the left, Turn away thy foot from wickedness.
