1. தேவனே, நீர் எங்களை என்றென்றைக்கும் ஏன் தள்ளிவிடுகிறீர்? உமது மேய்ச்சலின் ஆடுகள்மேல் உமது கோபம் ஏன் புகைகிறது?

1. An instruction: of Asaph. Why, O God, hast thou cast off for ever? [why] doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

2. Remember thine assembly, which thou hast purchased of old, which thou hast redeemed [to be] the portion of thine inheritance, this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

3. நெடுங்காலமாகப் பாழாய்க்கிடக்கிற ஸ்தலங்களில் உம்முடைய பாதங்களை எழுந்தருளப்பண்ணும்; பரிசுத்தஸ்தலத்திலே சத்துரு அனைத்தையும் கெடுத்துப்போட்டான்.

3. Lift up thy steps unto the perpetual desolations: everything in the sanctuary hath the enemy destroyed.

4. உம்முடைய சத்துருக்கள் உம்முடைய ஆலயங்களுக்குள்ளே கெர்ச்சித்து, தங்கள் கொடிகளை அடையாளங்களாக நாட்டுகிறார்கள்.

4. Thine adversaries roar in the midst of thy place of assembly; they set up their signs [for] signs.

5. கோடரிகளை ஓங்கிச் சோலையிலே மரங்களை வெட்டுகிறவன் பேர்பெற்றவனானான்.

5. [A man] was known as he could lift up axes in the thicket of trees;

6. இப்பொழுதோ அவர்கள் அதின் சித்திரவேலைகள் முழுவதையும் வாச்சிகளாலும் சம்மட்டிகளாலும் தகர்த்துப்போடுகிறார்கள்.

6. And now they break down its carved work altogether, with hatchets and hammers.

7. உமது பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தை அக்கினிக்கு இரையாக்கி, உமது நாமத்தின் வாசஸ்தலத்தைத் தரைமட்டும் இடித்து, அசுத்தப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

7. They have set on fire thy sanctuary, they have profaned the habitation of thy name to the ground.

8. அவர்களை ஏகமாய் நிர்த்தூளியாக்குவோம் என்று தங்கள் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லி, தேசத்திலுள்ள ஆலயங்களையெல்லாம் சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

8. They said in their heart, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all *God's places of assembly in the land.

9. எங்களுக்கு இருந்த அடையாளங்களைக் காணோம்; தீர்க்கதரிசியும் இல்லை; இது எதுவரைக்கும் என்று அறிகிறவனும் எங்களிடத்தில் இல்லை.

9. We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet, neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

10. தேவனே, எதுவரைக்கும் சத்துரு நிந்திப்பான்? பகைவன் உமது நாமத்தை எப்பொழுதும் தூஷிப்பானோ?

10. How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy contemn thy name for ever?

11. உமது வலதுகரத்தை என் முடக்கிக்கொள்ளுகிறீர்; அதை உமது மடியிலிருந்து எடுத்து ஓங்கி நிர்மூலமாக்கும்.

11. Why withdrawest thou thy hand, and thy right hand? [pluck it] out of thy bosom: consume [them].

12. பூமியின் நடுவில் இரட்சிப்புகளைச் செய்துவருகிற தேவன் பூர்வகாலமுதல் என்னுடைய ராஜா.

12. But God is my king of old, accomplishing deliverances in the midst of the earth.

13. தேவரீர் உமது வல்லமையினால் சமுத்திரத்தை இரண்டாகப் பிளந்து, ஜலத்திலுள்ள வலுசர்ப்பங்களின் தலைகளை உடைத்தீர்.

13. *Thou* didst divide the sea by thy strength; thou didst break the heads of the monsters on the waters:

14. தேவரீர் முதலைகளின் தலைகளை நருக்கிப்போட்டு, அதை வனாந்தரத்து ஜனங்களுக்கு உணவாகக் கொடுத்தீர்.

14. *Thou* didst break in pieces the heads of leviathan, thou gavest him to be meat to those that people the desert.

15. ஊற்றையும் ஆற்றையும் பிளந்துவிட்டீர்; மகா நதிகளையும் வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினீர்.

15. *Thou* didst cleave fountain and torrent, *thou* driedst up ever-flowing rivers.

16. பகலும் உம்முடையது, இரவும் உம்முடையது; தேவரீர் ஒளியையும் சூரியனையும் படைத்தீர்.

16. The day is thine, the night also is thine; *thou* hast prepared the moon and the sun:

17. பூமியின் எல்லைகளையெல்லாம் திட்டம்பண்ணினீர்; கோடைகாலத்தையும் மாரிகாலத்தையும் உண்டாக்கினீர்.

17. *Thou* hast set all the borders of the earth; summer and winter -- *thou* didst form them.

18. கர்த்தாவே, சத்துரு உம்மை நிந்தித்ததையும், மதியீன ஜனங்கள் உமது நாமத்தைத் தூஷித்ததையும் நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும்.

18. Remember this, that an enemy hath reproached Jehovah, and a foolish people have contemned thy name.

19. உமது காட்டுப்புறாவின் ஆத்துமாவைத் துஷ்டருடைய கூட்டத்திற்கு ஒப்புக்கொடாதேயும்; உமது ஏழைகளின் கூட்டத்தை என்றைக்கும் மறவாதேயும்.

19. Give not up the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast; forget not the troop of thine afflicted for ever.

20. உம்முடைய உடன்படிக்கையை நினைத்தருளும்; பூமியின் இருளான இடங்கள் கொடுமையுள்ள குடியிருப்புகளால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறதே.

20. Have respect unto the covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of the dwellings of violence.

21. துன்பப்பட்டவன் வெட்கத்தோடே திரும்பவிடாதிரும்; சிறுமையும் எளிமையுமானவன் உமது நாமத்தைத் துதிக்கும்படி செய்யும்.

21. Oh let not the oppressed one return ashamed; let the afflicted and needy praise thy name.

22. தேவனே, எழுந்தருளும், உமக்காக நீரே வழக்காடும்; மதியீனனாலே நாடோறும் உமக்கு வரும் நிந்தையை நினைத்துக்கொள்ளும்.

22. Rise up, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day;

23. உம்முடைய சத்துருக்களின் ஆரவாரத்தை மறவாதேயும்; உமக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்புகிறவர்களின் அமளி எப்பொழுதும் அதிகரிக்கிறது.

23. Forget not the voice of thine adversaries: the tumult of those that rise up against thee ascendeth continually.
