1. அப்பொழுது சூகியனான பில்தாத் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

1. And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:

2. நீங்கள் எந்தமட்டும் பேச்சுகளை முடிக்காதிருப்பீர்கள்? புத்திமான்களாயிருங்கள்; நாங்களும் பேசட்டும்.

2. Until when will you put an end to words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

3. நாங்கள் மிருகங்களைப்போல எண்ணப்பட்டு, உங்கள் பார்வைக்குத் தீழ்ப்பானவர்களாயிருப்பானேன்?

3. Why are we counted as animals? Are we stupid in your eyes?

4. கோபத்தினால் உம்மைத்தானே பீறுகிற உமதுநிமித்தம் பூமி பாழாய்ப்போகுமோ? கன்மலை தன்னிடத்தைவிட்டுப் பேருமோ?

4. One tearing himself in his anger, shall the earth be forsaken for your sake? Or shall the rock move from its place?

5. துன்மார்க்கனுடைய விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகும்; அவன் அடுப்பின் நெருப்பும் அவிந்துபோகும்.

5. Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out; and the spark of his fire shall not blaze.

6. அவன் கூடாரத்தில் வெளிச்சம் அந்தகாரப்படும்; அவன் விளக்கு அவனுடனே அணைந்துபோகும்.

6. The light shall be dark in his tent; and his lamp shall be put out above him;

7. அவன் பெலனாய் நடந்த நடைகள் குறைந்துபோகும் அவன் ஆலோசனை அவனை விழப்பண்ணும்.

7. the steps of his strength shall be hampered; and his own counsel shall throw him down.

8. அவன் தன் கால்களினால் வலையில் அகப்பட்டு, வலைச்சிக்கலிலே நடக்கிறான்.

8. For he is sent into a net by his own feet; and he is walking on a snare;

9. கண்ணி அவன் குதிகாலைப் பிடிக்கும்; பறிகாரர் அவனை மேற்கொள்வார்கள்.

9. the trap shall take him by the heel; a noose shall prevail over him;

10. அவனுக்காகச் சுருக்கு தரையிலும், அவனுக்காகக் கண்ணி வழியிலும் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

10. the pitfall is hid for him in the ground, and a trap for him on the way.

11. சுற்றிலுமிருந்துண்டாகும் பயங்கரங்கள் அவனைத் திடுக்கிடப்பண்ணி, அவன் கால்களைத் திசைதெரியாமல் அலையப்பண்ணும்.

11. Terrors frighten him on every side and shall dash him at his feet.

12. அவன் பெலனைப் பட்டினி தின்றுபோடும்; அவன் பக்கத்தில் கேடு ஆயத்தப்பட்டு நிற்கும்.

12. His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and calamity shall be ready at his side.

13. அது அவன் அங்கத்தின் பலத்தைப் பட்சிக்கும்; பயங்கரமான மரணமே அவன் அவயவங்களைப் பட்சிக்கும்.

13. It devours parts of his skin; the first-born of death eats his parts.

14. அவன் நம்பிக்கை அவன் கூடாரத்திலிருந்து வேரோடே பிடுங்கப்படும்; அது அவனைப் பயங்கர ராஜாவினிடத்தில் துரத்தும்.

14. His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors.

15. அவனுக்கு ஒன்றுமில்லாமற் போனதினால், பயங்கரம் அவன் கூடாரத்தில் குடியிருக்கும்; கந்தகம் அவன் வாசஸ்தலத்தின்மேல் தெளிக்கப்படும்.

15. What is not his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone is scattered on his home.

16. கீழே இருக்கிற அவன் வேர்கள் அழிந்துபோகும்; மேலே இருக்கிற அவன் கிளைகள் பட்டுப்போகும்.

16. His roots are dried up beneath, and his branch shall wither above.

17. அவனை நினைக்கும் நினைப்புப் பூமியிலிருந்தழியும், வீதிகளில் அவன் பேரில்லாமற்போகும்.

17. His memory perishes from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street.

18. அவன் வெளிச்சத்திலிருந்து இருளில் துரத்திவிடப்பட்டு, பூலோகத்திலிருந்து தள்ளுண்டுபோவான்.

18. They push him from light to darkness, and they make him flee from the world.

19. அவன் ஜனத்துக்குள்ளே அவனுக்குப் புத்திரனும் இல்லை பெளத்திரனும் இல்லை; அவன் வீட்டில் மீதியாயிருக்கத்தக்கவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை.

19. He shall have no son nor kinsman among his people, nor any remnant in his dwellings.

20. அவன் காலத்தோர் அவன் நாளுக்காகத் திடுக்கிட்டதுபோல, பின்னடியாரும் பிரமிப்பார்கள்.

20. Those after him shall be amazed at his day; and those before were seized with horror.

21. அக்கிரமக்காரன் குடியிருந்த ஸ்தானங்கள் இவைகள்தான்; தேவனை அறியாமற்போனவனுடைய ஸ்தலம் இதுவே என்பார்கள் என்றான்.

21. Surely these are the tents of the perverse, and this the place that has not known God.
