1. Then Job answered,

2. ஆம், நீங்களே ஞானமுள்ள ஜனங்கள்; உங்களுடனே ஞானம் சாகும்.

2. No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you.

3. உங்களைப்போல எனக்கும் புத்தியுண்டு; உங்களிலும் நான் தாழ்ந்தவன் அல்ல; இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளை அறியாதவன் யார்?

3. But I have understanding as well as you. I am not less than you. Who does not know such things as these?

4. என் சிநேகிதரால் நான் நிந்திக்கப்பட்டு, தேவனை நோக்கிப் பிரார்த்திப்பேன்; அவர் எனக்கு மறு உத்தரவு அருளுவார்; உத்தமனாகிய நீதிமான் பரியாசம்பண்ணப்படுகிறான்.

4. Even my friends laugh at me. The man who called on God, and God answered him, the man who is right and without blame is laughed at.

5. ஆபத்துக்குள்ளானவன் சுகமாயிருக்கிறவனுடைய நினைவில் இகழ்ச்சியடைகிறான்; காலிடறினவர்களுக்கு இது நேரிடும்.

5. He who lives in comfort laughs at one who has trouble and whose feet are slipping.

6. கள்ளருடைய கூடாரங்களில் செல்வமுண்டு; தேவனைக் கோபப்படுத்துகிறவர்களுக்குச் சாங்கோபாங்கமுண்டு; அவர்கள் கையிலே தேவன் கொண்டுவந்து கொடுக்கிறார்.

6. The tents of those who destroy have much. Those who make God angry are safe and have their god in their own hands.

7. இப்போதும் நீ மிருகங்களைக் கேட்டுப்பார், அவைகள் உனக்குப் போதிக்கும் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளைக் கேள், அவைகள் உனக்கு அறிவிக்கும்.

7. But ask the wild animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you.

8. அல்லது பூமியை விசாரித்துக் கேள், அது உனக்கு உபதேசிக்கும்; சமுத்திரத்தின் மச்சங்களைக் கேள், அவைகள் உனக்கு விவரிக்கும்.

8. Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you. Let the fish of the sea make it known to you.

9. கர்த்தருடைய கரம் இதைச் செய்ததென்று இவைகளெல்லாவற்றினாலும் அறியாதவன் யார்?

9. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?

10. சகல பிராணிகளின் ஜீவனும், மாம்சமான சகல மனுஷரின் ஆவியும் அவர் கையிலிருக்கிறது.

10. In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all men.

11. வாயானது போஜனத்தை ருசிபார்க்கிறதுபோல, செவியானது வார்த்தைகளைச் சோதித்துப்பார்க்கிறதல்லவா?

11. Does not the ear test words as the mouth tastes food?

12. முதியோரிடத்தில் ஞானமும் வயது சென்றவர்களிடத்தில் புத்தியும் இருக்குமே.

12. Wisdom is with old men, and understanding with long life.

13. அவரிடத்தில் ஞானமும் வல்லமையும் எத்தனை அதிகமாய் இருக்கும்? அவருக்குத்தான் ஆலோசனையும் புத்தியும் உண்டு.

13. 'With God are wisdom and strength. Wise words and understanding belong to Him.

14. இதோ, அவர் இடித்தால் கட்டமுடியாது; அவர் மனுஷனை அடைத்தால் விடுவிக்கமுடியாது.

14. See, He tears down, and it cannot be built again. He puts a man in prison, and no one can free him.

15. இதோ, அவர் தண்ணீர்களை அடக்கினால் எல்லாம் உலர்ந்துபோம்; அவர் அவைகளை வரவிட்டால், பூமியைக் கீழதுமேலதாக்கும்.

15. See, He stops the waters and they dry up. He sends them out, and they cover the earth.

16. அவரிடத்தில் பெலனும் ஞானமுமுண்டு; மோசம் போகிறவனும் மோசம் போக்குகிறவனும், அவர் கையின் கீழிருக்கிறார்கள்.

16. Strength and wisdom are with Him. Both the fool and the one who fools him belong to God.

17. அவர் ஆலோசனைக்காரரைச் சிறைபிடித்து, நியாயாதிபதிகளை மதிமயக்குகிறார்.

17. He takes wisdom away from leaders and makes fools of judges.

18. அவர் ராஜாக்களுடைய கட்டுகளை அவிழ்த்து, அவர்கள் இடுப்புகளைக் கச்சைகட்டுகிறார்.

18. He takes off chains put on by kings, and holds back the power of kings.

19. அவர் மந்திரிகளைச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோய், பெலவான்களைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடுகிறார்.

19. He makes religious leaders walk without pride, and takes the power away from those who think they are safe.

20. அவர் நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவர்களுடைய வாக்கை விலக்கி, முதிர்வயதுள்ளவர்களின் ஆலோசனையை வாங்கிப்போடுகிறார்.

20. He stops the trusted ones from speaking and takes away the wisdom of the leaders.

21. அவர் பிரபுக்களின்மேல் இகழ்ச்சி வரப்பண்ணுகிறார்; பலவான்களின் கச்சையைத் தளர்ந்துபோகப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

21. He pours anger on rulers, and takes away the strength of the strong.

22. அவர் அந்தகாரத்திலிருக்கிற ஆழங்களை வெளியரங்கமாக்கி, மரண இருளை வெளிச்சத்தில் கொண்டுவருகிறார்.

22. He makes known hidden truth from the darkness, and brings deep darkness to light.

23. அவர் ஜாதிகளைப் பெருகவும் அழியவும்பண்ணுகிறார்; அவர் ஜாதிகளைப் பரவவும் குறுகவும் பண்ணுகிறார்.

23. He makes the nations great, and then destroys them. He helps nations to become large, then leads them away.

24. அவர் பூமியிலுள்ள ஜனத்தினுடைய அதிபதிகளின் நெஞ்சை அகற்றிப்போட்டு, அவர்களை வழியில்லாத அந்தரத்திலே அலையப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

24. He takes away understanding from the leaders of the people of the earth, and makes them travel in a waste-land with no path.

25. அவர்கள் வெளிச்சமற்ற இருளிலே தடவித்திரிகிறார்கள்; வெறித்தவர்களைப்போல அவர்களைத் தடுமாறித் திரியப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

25. They feel their way in darkness with no light. And He makes them walk from side to side like a drunk man.
