1. ஊத்ஸ் தேசத்திலே யோபு என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்; அந்த மனுஷன் உத்தமனும் சன்மார்க்கனும், தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து பொல்லாப்புக்கு விலகுகிறவனுமாயிருந்தான்.
1 தெசலோனிக்கேயர் 5:22

1. There was a man in the lande of Vz called Iob, and this man was an vpright and iust man, one that feared God, and eschewed euill.

2. அவனுக்கு ஏழு குமாரரும், மூன்று குமாரத்திகளும் பிறந்தார்கள்.

2. And he had seue sonnes, and three daughters.

3. அவனுக்கு ஏழாயிரம் ஆடுகளும், மூவாயிரம் ஒட்டகங்களும், ஐந்நூறு ஏர்மாடுகளும், ஐந்நூறு கழுதைகளுமாகிய மிருகஜீவன்கள் இருந்ததுமன்றி, திரளான பணிவிடைக்காரரும் இருந்தார்கள்; அதினால் அந்த மனுஷன் கிழக்கத்திப் புத்திரர் எல்லாரிலும் பெரியவனாயிருந்தான்.

3. His substance also was seuen thousande sheepe, and three thousand camels, and fiue hundreth yoke of oxen, and fiue hundreth shee asses, and his family was very great, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.

4. அவன் குமாரர், அவனவன் தன்தன் நாளிலே தன்தன் வீட்டிலே விருந்துசெய்து, தங்கள் மூன்று சகோதரிகளையும் தங்களோடே போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி அழைப்பார்கள்.

4. And his sonnes went and banketted in their houses, euery one his day, and sent, and called their three sisters to eate and to drinke with them.

5. விருந்துசெய்கிற அவரவருடைய நாள்முறை முடிகிறபோது, யோபு: ஒருவேளை என் குமாரர் பாவஞ்செய்து, தேவனைத் தங்கள் இருதயத்திலே தூஷித்திருப்பார்கள் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களை அழைத்தனுப்பி, பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தி, அதிகாலமே எழுந்து, அவர்கள் எல்லாருடைய இலக்கத்தின்படியேயும் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்துவான்; இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக யோபு அந்நாட்களிலெல்லாம் செய்துவருவான்.

5. And when the dayes of their banketting were gone about, Iob sent, and sanctified them, and rose vp early in the morning, and offred burnt offrings according to the nomber of them all. For Iob thought, It may be that my sonnes haue sinned, and blasphemed God in their hearts: thus did Iob euery day.

6. ஒருநாள் தேவபுத்திரர் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் வந்து நின்றபோது, சாத்தானும் அவர்கள் நடுவிலே வந்து நின்றான்.

6. Nowe on a day when the children of God came and stoode before the Lord, Satan came also among them.

7. கர்த்தர் சாத்தானைப் பார்த்து: நீ எங்கேயிருந்து வருகிறாய் என்றார். சாத்தான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பூமியெங்கும் உலாவி, அதில் சுற்றித்திரிந்து வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

7. Then the Lord sayde vnto Satan, Whence commest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, saying, From compassing the earth to and from, and from walking in it.

8. கர்த்தர் சாத்தானை நோக்கி: என் தாசனாகிய யோபின்மேல் கவனம் வைத்தாயோ? உத்தமனும் சன்மார்க்கனும், தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து, பொல்லாப்புக்கு விலகுகிறவனுமாகிய அவனைப்போல பூமியில் ஒருவனும் இல்லை என்றார்.

8. And the Lord saide vnto Satan, Hast thou not considered my seruant Iob, how none is like him in the earth? an vpright and iust man, one that feareth God, and escheweth euill?

9. அதற்குச் சாத்தான் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: யோபு விருதாவாகவா தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறான்?

9. Then Satan answered the Lord, and sayde, Doeth Iob feare God for nought?

10. நீர் அவனையும் அவன் வீட்டையும் அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் சுற்றி வேலியடைக்கவில்லையோ? அவன் கைகளின் கிரியையை ஆசீர்வதித்தீர்; அவனுடைய சம்பத்து தேசத்தில் பெருகிற்று.

10. Hast thou not made an hedge about him and about his house, and about all that he hath on euery side? thou hast blessed the worke of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11. ஆனாலும் உம்முடைய கையை நீட்டி அவனுக்கு உண்டானவையெல்லாம் தொடுவீரானால், அப்பொழுது அவன் உமது முகத்துக்கு எதிரே உம்மைத் தூஷிக்கானோ பாரும் என்றான்.

11. But stretch out now thine hand and touch all that he hath, to see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face.

12. கர்த்தர் சாத்தானை நோக்கி: இதோ, அவனுக்கு உண்டானவையெல்லாம் உன் கையிலிருக்கிறது; அவன்மேல் மாத்திரம் உன் கையை நீட்டாதே என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாத்தான் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

12. Then the Lord sayde vnto Satan, Lo, all that he hath is in thine hand: onely vpon himselfe shalt thou not stretch out thine hand. So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

13. பின்பு ஒருநாள் யோபுடைய குமாரரும், அவன் குமாரத்திகளும், தங்கள் மூத்த சகோதரன் வீட்டிலே புசித்து, திராட்சரசம் குடிக்கிறபோது,

13. And on a day, when his sonnes and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house,

14. ஒரு ஆள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: எருதுகள் உழுகிறபோது, கழுதைகள் அவைகளின் பக்கத்திலே மேய்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கையில்,

14. There came a messenger vnto Iob, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding in their places,

15. சபேயர் அவைகள்மேல் விழுந்து, அவைகளைச் சாய்த்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; வேலையாட்களையும் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; நான் ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பி, அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி வந்தேன் என்றான்.

15. And the Shabeans came violently, and tooke them: yea, they haue slayne the seruants with the edge of the sworde: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.

16. இவன் இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், வேறொருவன் வந்து: வானத்திலிருந்து தேவனுடைய அக்கினி விழுந்து, ஆடுகளையும் வேலையாட்களையும் சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டது; நான் ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பி, அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி வந்தேன் என்றான்.

16. And whiles he was yet speaking, another came, and sayde, The fire of God is fallen from the heauen, and hath burnt vp the sheepe and the seruants, and deuoured them: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.

17. இவன் இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், வேறொருவன் வந்து: கல்தேயர் மூன்று பவுஞ்சாய் வந்து, ஒட்டகங்கள்மேல் விழுந்து, அவைகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள், வேலையாட்களையும் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; நான் ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பி, அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி வந்தேன் என்றான்.

17. And whiles he was yet speaking, another came, and sayd, The Caldeans set on three bands, and fell vpon the camels, and haue taken them, and haue slayne the seruantes with the edge of the sworde: but I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.

18. இவன் இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், வேறொருவன் வந்து: உம்முடைய குமாரரும் உம்முடைய குமாரத்திகளும், தங்கள் மூத்த சகோதரன் வீட்டிலே புசித்துத் திராட்சரசம் குடிக்கிறபோது,

18. And whiles he was yet speaking, came an other, and sayd, Thy sonnes, and thy daughters were eating, and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house,

19. வனாந்தரவழியாய்ப் பெருங்காற்று வந்து, அந்த வீட்டின் நாலு மூலையிலும் அடிக்க, அது பிள்ளைகளின்மேல் விழுந்ததினால் அவர்கள் இறந்து போனார்கள்; நான் ஒருவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பி, அதை உமக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி வந்தேன் என்றான்.

19. And behold, there came a great wind from beyonde the wildernesse, and smote the foure corners of the house, which fel vpon the children, and they are dead, and I onely am escaped alone to tell thee.

20. அப்பொழுது யோபு எழுந்திருந்து, தன் சால்வையைக் கிழித்து, தன் தலையைச் சிரைத்து, தரையிலே விழுந்து பணிந்து:

20. Then Iob arose, and rent his garment, and shaued his head, and fel downe vpon the ground, and worshipped,

21. நிர்வாணியாய் என் தாயின் கர்ப்பத்திலிருந்து வந்தேன்; நிர்வாணியாய் அவ்விடத்துக்குத் திரும்புவேன்; கர்த்தர் கொடுத்தார், கர்த்தர் எடுத்தார்; கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்துக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் என்றான்.
1 தீமோத்தேயு 6:7

21. And sayd, Naked came I out of my mothers wombe, and naked shall I returne thither: the Lord hath giuen, and the Lord hath taken it: blessed be the Name of the Lord.

22. இவையெல்லாவற்றிலும் யோபு பாவஞ்செய்யவுமில்லை, தேவனைப்பற்றிக் குறைசொல்லவுமில்லை.

22. In all this did not Iob sinne, nor charge God foolishly.
