1. When the days of David were drawn nigh, and he should die, he charged Salomon his son saying:

2. நான் பூலோகத்தார் யாவரும் போகிறவழியே போகிறேன்; நீ திடன்கொண்டு புருஷனாயிரு.

2. I must walk by the way of the world, neverthelater be thou strong and quite thyself manfully.

3. நீ என்ன செய்தாலும், நீ எங்கே போனாலும், எல்லாவற்றிலும் புத்திமானாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், கர்த்தர் என்னைக் குறித்து: உன் பிள்ளைகள் தங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும், முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் எனக்கு முன்பாக உண்மையாய் நடக்கும்படிக்குத் தங்கள் தங்கள் வழியைக் காத்துக்கொண்டால், இஸ்ரவேலின் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருக்கத்தக்க புருஷன் உனக்கு இல்லாமற்போவதில்லை என்று சொன்ன தம்முடைய வார்த்தையைத் திடப்படுத்துகிறதற்கும்,

3. And see that thou keep the appointment of the LORD thy God, that thou walk in his ways and keep his commandments, ordinances, laws and testimonies, even as it is written in the law of Moses: that thou mayest understand all that thou oughtest to do, and all that thou shouldest meddle with.

4. மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளைகளையும், கற்பனைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும், சாட்சிகளையும் கைக்கொள்ள, அவர் வழிகளில் நடக்கும்படிக்கு அவருடைய காவலைக் காப்பாயாக.

4. That the LORD may make good his promise which he hath promised me saying: if thy children shall take heed to their ways, that they walk before me in truth, with all their hearts and with all their souls, then thou shalt never be without one sitting on the seat of Israel.

5. செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாப், இஸ்ரவேலின் இரண்டு சேனாபதிகளாகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேருக்கும், ஏத்தேரின் குமாரன் அமாசாவுக்கும் செய்த காரியத்தினால் எனக்குச் செய்த குற்றத்தை நீ அறிந்திருக்கிறாயே; அவன் அவர்களைக் கொன்று, சமாதானகாலத்திலே யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தி, யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைத் தன் அரையிலுள்ள கச்சையிலும் தன் கால்களில் இருந்த பாதரட்சையிலும் வடியவிட்டானே.

5. Moreover thou wottest how Joab the son of Zaruiah hath served me, and what he hath done to the two captains of the Hosts of Israel: unto Abner the son of Ner and unto Amasa the son of Jether: how he slew them and shed the blood of war in time of peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins and in his shoes that were on his feet.

6. ஆகையால் உன் யுக்தியின்படியே நீ செய்து, அவனுடைய நரைமயிர் சமாதானமாய்ப் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கவொட்டாதிரு.

6. Deal with him therefore according to thy wisdom and see that thou bring not his hoar head down to the grave in peace.

7. கீலேயாத்தியனான பர்சிலாயின் குமாரருக்குத் தயைசெய்வாயாக; அவர்கள் உன் பந்தியிலே சாப்பிடுகிறவர்களுடன் இருப்பார்களாக; உன் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமுக்கு முன்பாக நான் ஓடிப்போகையில், அவர்கள் என்னை ஆதரித்தார்கள்.

7. And shew kindness unto the sons of Berselai the Gileadite, and let them be among them that eat at thine own table, because they so clave to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.

8. மேலும் பகூரிம் ஊரானான பென்யமீனனாகிய கேராவின் மகன் சீமேயி உன்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறான்; நான் மக்னாயீமுக்குப் போகிற நாளிலே, அவன் என்னைக் கொடிய தூஷணமாய்த் தூஷித்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் யோர்தானிலே எனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்தபடியினால்: நான் உன்னைப் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோடுவதில்லை என்று கர்த்தர்மேல் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தேன்.

8. And see, thou hast with thee, Semei the son of Gera the son of Jemini of Bahurim, which cursed me with a bitter curse what time I went to Mahanahim. But he came against me to Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not slay thee with the sword.

9. ஆகிலும் நீ அவனைக் குற்றமற்றவன் என்று எண்ணாதே; நீ புத்திமான்; அவனுடைய நரைமயிரை இரத்தத்துடன் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கப்பண்ண, நீ அவனுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியதை அறிவாய் என்றான்.

9. But pardon thou him not. Thou art a man of wisdom and shalt know what to do to him, see therefore that thou bring his hoar head to the grave with blood.

10. And so David rested with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

11. And the days which David reigned upon Israel, were forty years: seven year in Hebron, and thirty and three years in Jerusalem.

12. சாலொமோன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருந்தான்; அவன் ராஜ்யபாரம் மிகவும் ஸ்திரப்பட்டது.

12. And Salomon sat upon the seat of David his father and his kingdom was stablished mightily.

13. ஆகீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய அதோனியா சாலொமோனின் தாயாகிய பத்சேபாளிடத்தில் வந்தான். நீ சமாதானமாய் வருகிறாயா என்று அவள் கேட்டதற்கு: சமாதானமாய்த்தான் வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

13. After that, Adoniah the son of Hagith came to Bethsabe the mother of Salomon. And she said: Betokeneth thy coming peace?

14. பின்பு அவன்: உம்மோடே நான் பேசவேண்டிய ஒரு காரியம் இருக்கிறது என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.

14. And he said: it betokeneth peace. Then said he, I have a matter to shew thee. And she said: say on.

15. அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜ்யம் என்னுடையதாயிருந்தது என்றும், நான் அரசாளுகிறதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் என்மேல் நோக்கமாய் இருந்தார்கள் என்றும் நீர் அறிவீர்; ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யபாரம் என்னைவிட்டுத் தாண்டி, என் சகோதரனுக்கு ஆயிற்று; கர்த்தரால் அது அவருக்குக் கிடைத்தது.

15. And he said: thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel put their eyes on me, that I should reign, howbeit the kingdom was turned away and given to my brother, for it was appointed him of the LORD: and now I ask a petition of thee, whereof deny me not.

16. இப்பொழுது நான் உம்மிடத்தில் ஒரு மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்கிறேன்; அதை எனக்கு மறுக்கவேண்டாம் என்றான். அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.

16. And she said unto him: tell what it is.

17. அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் உம்முடைய சொல்லை மறுப்பதில்லை; சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை எனக்கு அவர் விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுக்க, அவரோடே பேசும்படி வேண்டுகிறேன் என்றான்.

17. Then he said: speak I pray thee, unto Salomon the king (for he will not say thee nay) that he give me Abisag the Sunamite to wife.

18. அதற்குப் பத்சேபாள்; நல்லது, நான் உனக்காக ராஜாவிடத்தில் பேசுவேன் என்றாள்.

18. And Bethsabe said: well, I will speak for thee unto the king.

19. பத்சேபாள் அதோனியாவுக்காக ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனிடத்தில் பேசும்படி போனாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்திருந்து, அவளுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்து அவளை வணங்கி, தன் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்து, ராஜாவின் தாயார் தன் வலதுபுறமாக உட்கார அவளுக்கு ஒரு ஆசனத்தை வைத்தான்.

19. And thereupon Bethsabe went unto king Salomon to speak unto him for Adoniah. And the king rose up against her and bowed himself unto her, and sat him down on his seat. And there was a seat set for the king's mother, and she sat on his right side.

20. அப்பொழுது அவள்: நான் உம்மை ஒரு சிறிய மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன்; எனக்கு அதை மறுக்க வேண்டாம் என்றாள். அதற்கு ராஜா: என் தாயாரே, கேளும்; நான் உமக்கு மறுப்பதில்லை என்றான்.

20. Then she said: I must desire a little petition of thee: say me not nay. And the king said unto her: Ask on my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

21. அப்பொழுது அவள்: சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை உம்முடைய சகோதரனாகிய அதோனியாவுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

21. And she said: let Abisag the Sunamite be given to Adoniah thy brother to wife.

22. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தன் தாயாருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீர் சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவுக்குக் கேட்பானேன்? அப்படியானால் ராஜ்யபாரத்தையும் அவனுக்குக் கேளும்; அவன் எனக்கு மூத்த சகோதரன்; அவனுக்கும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாருக்கும் செரூயாவின் குமாரன் யோவாபுக்குமே அதைக் கேளும் என்றான்.

22. And king Salomon answered and said unto his mother: why dost thou ask Abisag the Sunamite for Adoniah? but rather ask for him the kingdom, seeing he is mine elder brother: Even for him ask it and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zaruiah.

23. பின்பு சாலொமோன் ராஜா: அதோனியா இந்த வார்த்தையைத் தன் பிராணனுக்குச் சேதமாகச் சொல்லாதிருந்தால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிட்டு,

23. Then king Salomon sware by the LORD saying: God do so to me and so thereto if Adoniah have not spoken this word against himself.

24. இப்போதும் இன்றைக்கு அதோனியா கொலையுண்பான் என்று என்னைத் திடப்படுத்தினவரும், என்னை என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கப்பண்ணி, தாம் சொன்னபடி எனக்கு வீட்டைக் கட்டுவித்தவருமாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

24. Now therefore as surely as the LORD liveth which hath stablished me and set me on the seat of David my father, and which hath made me an house as he promised me, Adoniah shall die this day.

25. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளைகொடுத்து அவனை அனுப்பினான்; இவன் அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

25. And king Salomon sent by the hand of Banaiah the son of Jehoiada, and smote him that he died.

26. ராஜா: ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரை நோக்கி: நீ உன் நிலங்கள் இருக்கிற ஆனதோத்திற்குப் போய்விடு; நீ மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரவானாயிருந்தும், நீ என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்கு முன்பாகக் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவருடைய பெட்டியைச் சுமந்தபடியினாலும், என் தகப்பன் அநுபவித்த உபத்திரவத்தையெல்லாம் நீ கூட அநுபவித்தபடியினாலும், இன்றைய தினம் நான் உன்னைக் கொலை செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

26. And unto Abiathar the priest said the king: get thee to Anatoth unto thine own fields, for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time kill thee, because thou barest the Ark of the Lord Jehovah(Lorde Iehouah) before David my father and because thou sufferest with my father in all his afflictions.

27. அப்படியே கர்த்தர் சீலோவிலே ஏலியின் வீட்டாரைக்குறித்துச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாக, சாலொமோன் அபியத்தாரைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியனாயிராதபடிக்குத் தள்ளிப்போட்டான்.

27. And so Salomon put away Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD: to fulfil the words of the LORD which he spake over the house of Eli in Siloh.

28. நடந்த இந்தச் செய்தி யோவாபுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவன் கர்த்தருடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போய், பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; யோவாப் அப்சலோமின் பட்சம் சாயாதவனாயிருந்தும், அதோனியாவின் பட்சம் சாய்ந்திருந்தான்.

28. Then tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adoniah but not after Salomon. Whereupon he fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD and caught handfast on the horns of the altar.

29. யோவாப் கர்த்தரின் கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான் என்றும், இதோ, பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் நிற்கிறான் என்றும், ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவை அனுப்பி, நீ போய் அவன்மேல் விழு என்றான்.

29. And it was told king Salomon how that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD and stood by the altar. Then Salomon sent Banaiah the son of Jehoiada saying: go and smite him.

30. பெனாயா கர்த்தரின் கூடாரத்திற்குப் போய், அவனைப் பார்த்து: வெளியே வா என்று ராஜா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வரமாட்டேன்; இங்கேயே சாவேன் என்றான்; ஆகையால் பெனாயா ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், யோவாப் இன்னபடி சொல்லி, இன்னபடி எனக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுத்தான் என்று மறுசெய்தி சொன்னான்.

30. And when Banaiah was come to the tabernacle of the LORD he said unto him: thus sayeth the king, come out. And he said nay: But I will die even here. And Banaiah brought the king word saying: thus said Joab and thus he answered me.

31. அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவனை நோக்கி: அவன் சொன்னபடியே நீ செய்து, அவனைக் கொன்று, அடக்கம்பண்ணி, இவ்விதமாய் யோவாப் முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் சிந்தின இரத்தத்தை என்னைவிட்டும் என் பிதாவின் வீட்டைவிட்டும் விலக்கிப்போடு.

31. And the king said: do even as he hath said: smite him and bury him, and take away the blood (which Joab shed causeless), from me and from the house of my father.

32. அவன் தன்னைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீதியும் நற்குணமுமுள்ள இரண்டு பேராகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேர் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலின் படைத்தலைவன்மேலும், ஏதேரின் குமாரன் அமாசா என்னும் யூதாவின் படைத்தலைவன்மேலும் விழுந்து, என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல் அவர்களைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்ற அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழியைக் கர்த்தர் அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பப்பண்ணுவாராக.

32. And the LORD bring his blood upon his own head, for he smote two men righteouser and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father unwitting: even Abner the son of Ner captain of the Host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether captain of the Host of Juda.

33. இப்படியே அவர்களுடைய இரத்தப் பழி என்றும் யோவாபுடைய தலையின்மேலும், அவன் சந்ததியாரின் தலையின்மேலும் திரும்பவும், தாவீதுக்கும் அவர் சந்ததியாருக்கும் அவர் வீட்டாருக்கும் அவர் சிங்காசனத்திற்கும் என்றென்றைக்கும் கர்த்தராலே சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருக்கவும்கடவது என்றான்.

33. And their blood return upon the head of Joab and on the head of his seed for ever. And prosperity be unto David, and unto his seed, and unto his house, and unto his seat, of the LORD for ever.

34. அப்படியே யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; அவன் வனாந்தரத்திலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய வீட்டிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

34. And Banaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and smote him and slew him and buried him in his own house in the wilderness.

35. அவனுக்குப் பதிலாக ராஜா யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவை இராணுவத்தின்மேலும், ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை அபியத்தாரின் ஸ்தானத்திலும் வைத்தான்.

35. And the king put Banaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the Host, and put Sadock the priest in the room of Abiathar.

36. பின்பு ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைப்பித்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீ எருசலேமிலே உனக்கு ஒரு வீட்டைக்கட்டி, அங்கேயிருந்து எங்கேயாவது வெளியே போகாமல், அங்கேதானே குடியிரு.

36. Then the king sent and called Semei, and said to him: build thee an house in Jerusalem and dwell there and see that thou go not once thence any whither.

37. நீ வெளியே போய்க் கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடக்கும் நாளில், நீ சாகவே சாவாய்; அப்பொழுது உன் இரத்தப்பழி உன் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கும் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்துகொள் என்றான்.

37. For be thou sure of it, the day thou goest out and passest over the river of Cedron, thou shalt die for it, and thy blood shall be on thine own head.

38. சீமேயி ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: அது நல்ல வார்த்தை; ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, உமது அடியானாகிய நான் செய்வேன் என்று சொல்லி, சீமேயி அநேகநாள் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்தான்.

38. And Semei said unto the king: is well said: as my lord the king hath said, so will his servant do. And Semei dwelt in Jerusalem many a day.

39. மூன்று வருஷம் சென்றபோது, சீமேயியின் வேலைக்காரர் இரண்டுபேர் மாக்காவின் குமாரனாகிய ஆகீஸ் என்னும் காத்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்துக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; உன் வேலைக்காரர் காத் ஊரில் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று சீமேயிக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

39. And it chanced at the end of three years that two of the servants of Semei ran away unto Achis son of Maacah king of Geth. And one told Semei saying: see, thy servants be in Geth.

40. அப்பொழுது சீமேயி எழுந்து, தன் கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து, தன் வேலைக்காரரைத் தேட, காத் ஊரிலிருக்கிற ஆகீசிடத்துக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; இப்படிச் சீமேயி போய், தன் வேலைக்காரரைக் காத் ஊரிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தான்.

40. And Semei stood up and saddled his Ass and gat him to Geth to Achis, to seek his servants, and came and brought them again from Geth.

41. சீமேயி எருசலேமிலிருந்து காத் ஊருக்குப் போய், திரும்பி வந்தான் என்று சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

41. But it was told Salomon how that Semei had gone from Jerusalem to Geth and was come again.

42. ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைப்பித்து: நீ வெளியே புறப்பட்டு எங்கேயாவது போகிற நாளிலே சாகவேசாவாய் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்துகொள் என்று நான் உன்னைக் கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிடச் செய்து, உனக்குத் திடச்சாட்சியாகச் சொல்லியிருக்க, அதற்கு நீ: நான் கேட்ட வார்த்தை நல்லதென்று சொல்லவில்லையா?

42. And the king sent and called Semei and said unto him: Did I not adjure thee by the LORD, and testified unto thee saying: be sure whensoever thou goest out and walkest abroad any whither, thou shalt die for it? And thou answeredst me, it is good tidings that I have heard.

43. நீ கர்த்தரின் ஆணையையும், நான் உனக்குக் கற்பித்த கட்டளையையும் கைக்கொள்ளாதே போனதென்ன? என்று சொல்லி,

43. Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I commanded thee?

44. பின்னும் ராஜா சீமேயியைப் பார்த்து: நீ என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குச் செய்ததும் உன் மனதுக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறதுமான எல்லாப் பொல்லாப்பையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறாய்; ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் உன் பொல்லாப்பை உன் தலையின்மேல் திரும்பப்பண்ணுவார்.

44. And then the king said to Semei: thou rememberest all the wickedness which thine heart knoweth that thou didst to David my father. The LORD therefore render again thy wickedness upon thine own head:

45. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனோ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவனாயிருப்பான்; தாவீதின் சிங்காசனம் என்றைக்கும் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உறுதியாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல்லி,

45. and king Salomon be blessed, and the fear of the LORD be stablished before the LORD for ever.

46. ராஜா யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்தான்; அவன் வெளியே போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். ராஜ்யபாரம் சாலொமோனின் கையிலே ஸ்திரப்பட்டது.

46. And the king commanded Banaiah the son of Jehoiada: which went out and smote him that he died. And so was the kingdom settled in the hand of Salomon.
