1. தாவீது மரணமடையும் காலம் சமீபித்தபோது, அவன் தன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னது:

1. Then the dayes of Dauid drewe neere that he should die, and hee charged Salomon his sonne, saying,

2. நான் பூலோகத்தார் யாவரும் போகிறவழியே போகிறேன்; நீ திடன்கொண்டு புருஷனாயிரு.

2. I go the way of all the earth: be strong therefore, and shew thy selfe a man,

3. நீ என்ன செய்தாலும், நீ எங்கே போனாலும், எல்லாவற்றிலும் புத்திமானாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், கர்த்தர் என்னைக் குறித்து: உன் பிள்ளைகள் தங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும், முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் எனக்கு முன்பாக உண்மையாய் நடக்கும்படிக்குத் தங்கள் தங்கள் வழியைக் காத்துக்கொண்டால், இஸ்ரவேலின் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருக்கத்தக்க புருஷன் உனக்கு இல்லாமற்போவதில்லை என்று சொன்ன தம்முடைய வார்த்தையைத் திடப்படுத்துகிறதற்கும்,

3. And take heede to the charge of the Lord thy God, to walke in his wayes, and keepe his statutes, and his commandements, and his iudgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and in euery thing whereunto thou turnest thee,

4. மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய கட்டளைகளையும், கற்பனைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும், சாட்சிகளையும் கைக்கொள்ள, அவர் வழிகளில் நடக்கும்படிக்கு அவருடைய காவலைக் காப்பாயாக.

4. That the Lord may confirme his worde which hee spake vnto me, saying, If thy sonnes take heede to their way, that they walke before me in trueth, with all their hearts, and with all their soules, thou shalt not (sayd he) want one of thy posteritie vpon the throne of Israel.

5. செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாப், இஸ்ரவேலின் இரண்டு சேனாபதிகளாகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேருக்கும், ஏத்தேரின் குமாரன் அமாசாவுக்கும் செய்த காரியத்தினால் எனக்குச் செய்த குற்றத்தை நீ அறிந்திருக்கிறாயே; அவன் அவர்களைக் கொன்று, சமாதானகாலத்திலே யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தி, யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைத் தன் அரையிலுள்ள கச்சையிலும் தன் கால்களில் இருந்த பாதரட்சையிலும் வடியவிட்டானே.

5. Thou knowest also what Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captaines of the hostes of Israel, vnto Abner the sonne of Ner, and vnto Amasa the sonne of Iether: whome he slewe, and shed blood of battell in peace, and put the blood of warre vpon his girdle that was about his loynes, and in his shooes that were on his feete.

6. ஆகையால் உன் யுக்தியின்படியே நீ செய்து, அவனுடைய நரைமயிர் சமாதானமாய்ப் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கவொட்டாதிரு.

6. Doe therefore according to thy wisdome, and let thou not his hoare head go downe to the graue in peace.

7. கீலேயாத்தியனான பர்சிலாயின் குமாரருக்குத் தயைசெய்வாயாக; அவர்கள் உன் பந்தியிலே சாப்பிடுகிறவர்களுடன் இருப்பார்களாக; உன் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமுக்கு முன்பாக நான் ஓடிப்போகையில், அவர்கள் என்னை ஆதரித்தார்கள்.

7. But shew kindnes vnto the sonnes of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among them that eate at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.

8. மேலும் பகூரிம் ஊரானான பென்யமீனனாகிய கேராவின் மகன் சீமேயி உன்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறான்; நான் மக்னாயீமுக்குப் போகிற நாளிலே, அவன் என்னைக் கொடிய தூஷணமாய்த் தூஷித்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவன் யோர்தானிலே எனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்தபடியினால்: நான் உன்னைப் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்றுபோடுவதில்லை என்று கர்த்தர்மேல் அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தேன்.

8. And beholde, with thee is Shimei the sonne of Gera, the sonne of Iemini, of Bahurim, which cursed mee with an horrible curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but hee came downe to meete me at Iorden, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not slay thee with the sword.

9. ஆகிலும் நீ அவனைக் குற்றமற்றவன் என்று எண்ணாதே; நீ புத்திமான்; அவனுடைய நரைமயிரை இரத்தத்துடன் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்கப்பண்ண, நீ அவனுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியதை அறிவாய் என்றான்.

9. But thou shalt not count him innocent: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to doe vnto him: therefore thou shalt cause his hoare head to goe downe to the graue with blood.

10. So Dauid slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid.

11. And the dayes which Dauid reigned vpon Israel, were fourtie yeeres: seuen yeeres reigned he in Hebron, and thirtie and three yeeres reigned he in Ierusalem.

12. சாலொமோன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருந்தான்; அவன் ராஜ்யபாரம் மிகவும் ஸ்திரப்பட்டது.

12. Then sate Salomon vpon the throne of Dauid his father, and his kingdome was stablished mightily.

13. ஆகீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய அதோனியா சாலொமோனின் தாயாகிய பத்சேபாளிடத்தில் வந்தான். நீ சமாதானமாய் வருகிறாயா என்று அவள் கேட்டதற்கு: சமாதானமாய்த்தான் வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

13. And Adonijah the sonne of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon: and she saide, Commest thou peaceably? And hee said, Yea.

14. பின்பு அவன்: உம்மோடே நான் பேசவேண்டிய ஒரு காரியம் இருக்கிறது என்றான். அதற்கு அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.

14. He said moreouer, I haue a sute vnto thee. And she sayd, Say on.

15. அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜ்யம் என்னுடையதாயிருந்தது என்றும், நான் அரசாளுகிறதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் என்மேல் நோக்கமாய் இருந்தார்கள் என்றும் நீர் அறிவீர்; ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யபாரம் என்னைவிட்டுத் தாண்டி, என் சகோதரனுக்கு ஆயிற்று; கர்த்தரால் அது அவருக்குக் கிடைத்தது.

15. Then he said, Thou knowest that the kingdome was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reigne: howbeit the kingdome is turned away, and is my brothers: for it came to him by the Lord.

16. இப்பொழுது நான் உம்மிடத்தில் ஒரு மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்கிறேன்; அதை எனக்கு மறுக்கவேண்டாம் என்றான். அவள்: சொல் என்றாள்.

16. Nowe therefore I aske thee one request, refuse me not. And she said vnto him, Say on.

17. அப்பொழுது அவன்: ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் உம்முடைய சொல்லை மறுப்பதில்லை; சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை எனக்கு அவர் விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுக்க, அவரோடே பேசும்படி வேண்டுகிறேன் என்றான்.

17. And he sayd, Speake, I pray thee, vnto Salomon ye King, (for he will not say thee nay) that he giue me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.

18. அதற்குப் பத்சேபாள்; நல்லது, நான் உனக்காக ராஜாவிடத்தில் பேசுவேன் என்றாள்.

18. And Bath-sheba sayd, Well, I will speake for thee vnto the King.

19. பத்சேபாள் அதோனியாவுக்காக ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனிடத்தில் பேசும்படி போனாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்திருந்து, அவளுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்து அவளை வணங்கி, தன் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்து, ராஜாவின் தாயார் தன் வலதுபுறமாக உட்கார அவளுக்கு ஒரு ஆசனத்தை வைத்தான்.

19. Bath-sheba therefore went vnto King Salomon, to speake vnto him for Adonijah: and the King rose to meete her, and bowed himselfe vnto her, and sate downe on his throne: and he caused a seate to be set for the Kings mother, and she sate at his right hand.

20. அப்பொழுது அவள்: நான் உம்மை ஒரு சிறிய மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன்; எனக்கு அதை மறுக்க வேண்டாம் என்றாள். அதற்கு ராஜா: என் தாயாரே, கேளும்; நான் உமக்கு மறுப்பதில்லை என்றான்.

20. Then she sayd, I desire a small request of thee, say me not nay. Then the King sayde vnto her, Aske on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

21. அப்பொழுது அவள்: சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை உம்முடைய சகோதரனாகிய அதோனியாவுக்கு விவாகம்பண்ணிக்கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

21. She sayd then, Let Abishag the Shunammite be giuen to Adonijah thy brother to wife.

22. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தன் தாயாருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீர் சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகை அதோனியாவுக்குக் கேட்பானேன்? அப்படியானால் ராஜ்யபாரத்தையும் அவனுக்குக் கேளும்; அவன் எனக்கு மூத்த சகோதரன்; அவனுக்கும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாருக்கும் செரூயாவின் குமாரன் யோவாபுக்குமே அதைக் கேளும் என்றான்.

22. But King Salomon answered and sayd vnto his mother, And why doest thou aske Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? aske for him the kingdome also: for he is mine elder brother, and hath for him both Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah.

23. பின்பு சாலொமோன் ராஜா: அதோனியா இந்த வார்த்தையைத் தன் பிராணனுக்குச் சேதமாகச் சொல்லாதிருந்தால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிட்டு,

23. Then King Salomon sware by the Lord, saying, God doe so to me and more also, if Adoniiah hath not spoken this worde against his owne life.

24. இப்போதும் இன்றைக்கு அதோனியா கொலையுண்பான் என்று என்னைத் திடப்படுத்தினவரும், என்னை என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கப்பண்ணி, தாம் சொன்னபடி எனக்கு வீட்டைக் கட்டுவித்தவருமாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

24. Now therefore as ye Lord liueth, who hath established me, and set me on the throne of Dauid my father, who also hath made me an house, as he promised, Adoniiah shall surely die this day.

25. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளைகொடுத்து அவனை அனுப்பினான்; இவன் அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

25. And King Salomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and hee smote him that he dyed.

26. ராஜா: ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரை நோக்கி: நீ உன் நிலங்கள் இருக்கிற ஆனதோத்திற்குப் போய்விடு; நீ மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரவானாயிருந்தும், நீ என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்கு முன்பாகக் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவருடைய பெட்டியைச் சுமந்தபடியினாலும், என் தகப்பன் அநுபவித்த உபத்திரவத்தையெல்லாம் நீ கூட அநுபவித்தபடியினாலும், இன்றைய தினம் நான் உன்னைக் கொலை செய்யமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

26. Then the King sayd vnto Abiathar the Priest, Go to Anathoth vnto thine owne fieldes: for thou art worthy of death: but I will not this day kill thee, because thou barest the Arke of the Lord God before Dauid my father, and because thou hast suffered in all, wherein my father hath bene afflicted.

27. அப்படியே கர்த்தர் சீலோவிலே ஏலியின் வீட்டாரைக்குறித்துச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாக, சாலொமோன் அபியத்தாரைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியனாயிராதபடிக்குத் தள்ளிப்போட்டான்.

27. So Salomon cast out Abiathar from being Priest vnto the Lord, that he might fulfill the wordes of the Lord, which he spake against the house of Eli in Shiloh.

28. நடந்த இந்தச் செய்தி யோவாபுக்கு வந்தபோது, அவன் கர்த்தருடைய கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போய், பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்; யோவாப் அப்சலோமின் பட்சம் சாயாதவனாயிருந்தும், அதோனியாவின் பட்சம் சாய்ந்திருந்தான்.

28. Then tidings came to Ioab: (for Ioab had turned after Adoniiah, but he turned not after Absalom) and Ioab fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the hornes of the altar.

29. யோவாப் கர்த்தரின் கூடாரத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான் என்றும், இதோ, பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் நிற்கிறான் என்றும், ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, சாலொமோன் யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவை அனுப்பி, நீ போய் அவன்மேல் விழு என்றான்.

29. And it was tolde king Salomon, that Ioab was fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and beholde, he is by the altar. Then Salomon sent Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, saying, Goe, fall vpon him.

30. பெனாயா கர்த்தரின் கூடாரத்திற்குப் போய், அவனைப் பார்த்து: வெளியே வா என்று ராஜா சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வரமாட்டேன்; இங்கேயே சாவேன் என்றான்; ஆகையால் பெனாயா ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், யோவாப் இன்னபடி சொல்லி, இன்னபடி எனக்கு மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுத்தான் என்று மறுசெய்தி சொன்னான்.

30. And Benaiah came to the Tabernacle of the Lord, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the King, Come out. And he sayde, Nay, but I will die here. Then Benaiah brought the King worde againe, saying, Thus sayd Ioab, and thus he answered me.

31. அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவனை நோக்கி: அவன் சொன்னபடியே நீ செய்து, அவனைக் கொன்று, அடக்கம்பண்ணி, இவ்விதமாய் யோவாப் முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் சிந்தின இரத்தத்தை என்னைவிட்டும் என் பிதாவின் வீட்டைவிட்டும் விலக்கிப்போடு.

31. And the King sayde vnto him, Doe as he hath sayd, and smite him, and bury him, that thou mayest take away the blood, which Ioab shed causelesse, from me and from the house of my father.

32. அவன் தன்னைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீதியும் நற்குணமுமுள்ள இரண்டு பேராகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேர் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலின் படைத்தலைவன்மேலும், ஏதேரின் குமாரன் அமாசா என்னும் யூதாவின் படைத்தலைவன்மேலும் விழுந்து, என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல் அவர்களைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்ற அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழியைக் கர்த்தர் அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பப்பண்ணுவாராக.

32. And the Lord shall bring his blood vpon his owne head: for he smote two men more righteous and better then he, and slew them with the sword, and my father Dauid knew not: to wit, Abner the sonne of Ner, captaine of the hoste of Israel, and Amasa the sonne of Iether captaine of the hoste of Iudah.

33. இப்படியே அவர்களுடைய இரத்தப் பழி என்றும் யோவாபுடைய தலையின்மேலும், அவன் சந்ததியாரின் தலையின்மேலும் திரும்பவும், தாவீதுக்கும் அவர் சந்ததியாருக்கும் அவர் வீட்டாருக்கும் அவர் சிங்காசனத்திற்கும் என்றென்றைக்கும் கர்த்தராலே சமாதானம் உண்டாயிருக்கவும்கடவது என்றான்.

33. Their blood shall therefore returne vpon the head of Ioab, and on the head of his seede for euer: but vpon Dauid, and vpon his seede, and vpon his house, and vpon his throne shall there be peace for euer from the Lord.

34. அப்படியே யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; அவன் வனாந்தரத்திலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய வீட்டிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

34. So Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada went vp, and smote him, and slewe him, and he was buryed in his owne house in the wildernesse.

35. அவனுக்குப் பதிலாக ராஜா யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவை இராணுவத்தின்மேலும், ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கை அபியத்தாரின் ஸ்தானத்திலும் வைத்தான்.

35. And the King put Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the hoste: and the King set Zadok the Priest in the roume of Abiathar.

36. பின்பு ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைப்பித்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீ எருசலேமிலே உனக்கு ஒரு வீட்டைக்கட்டி, அங்கேயிருந்து எங்கேயாவது வெளியே போகாமல், அங்கேதானே குடியிரு.

36. Afterwarde the King sent, and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Buylde thee an house in Ierusalem, and dwell there, and depart not thence any whither.

37. நீ வெளியே போய்க் கீதரோன் ஆற்றைக் கடக்கும் நாளில், நீ சாகவே சாவாய்; அப்பொழுது உன் இரத்தப்பழி உன் தலையின்மேல் இருக்கும் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்துகொள் என்றான்.

37. For that day that thou goest out, and passest ouer the riuer of Kidron, knowe assuredly, that thou shalt dye the death: thy blood shall be vpon thine owne head.

38. சீமேயி ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: அது நல்ல வார்த்தை; ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னபடியே, உமது அடியானாகிய நான் செய்வேன் என்று சொல்லி, சீமேயி அநேகநாள் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்தான்.

38. And Shimei sayd vnto the King, The thing is good: as my lord the King hath sayd, so wil thy seruant doe. So Shimei dwelt in Ierusalem many dayes.

39. மூன்று வருஷம் சென்றபோது, சீமேயியின் வேலைக்காரர் இரண்டுபேர் மாக்காவின் குமாரனாகிய ஆகீஸ் என்னும் காத்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்துக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; உன் வேலைக்காரர் காத் ஊரில் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று சீமேயிக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

39. And after three yeres two of the seruants of Shimei fled away vnto Achish sonne of Maachah King of Gath: and they tolde Shimei, saying, Behold, thy seruants be in Gath.

40. அப்பொழுது சீமேயி எழுந்து, தன் கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து, தன் வேலைக்காரரைத் தேட, காத் ஊரிலிருக்கிற ஆகீசிடத்துக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; இப்படிச் சீமேயி போய், தன் வேலைக்காரரைக் காத் ஊரிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தான்.

40. And Shimei arose, and sadled his asse, and went to Gath to Achish, to seeke his seruantes: and Shimei went, and brought his seruants from Gath.

41. சீமேயி எருசலேமிலிருந்து காத் ஊருக்குப் போய், திரும்பி வந்தான் என்று சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது,

41. And it was tolde Salomon, that Shimei had gone from Ierusalem to Gath, and was come againe.

42. ராஜா சீமேயியை அழைப்பித்து: நீ வெளியே புறப்பட்டு எங்கேயாவது போகிற நாளிலே சாகவேசாவாய் என்பதை நீ நிச்சயமாய் அறிந்துகொள் என்று நான் உன்னைக் கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிடச் செய்து, உனக்குத் திடச்சாட்சியாகச் சொல்லியிருக்க, அதற்கு நீ: நான் கேட்ட வார்த்தை நல்லதென்று சொல்லவில்லையா?

42. And the King sent and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Did I not make thee to sweare by the Lord, and protested vnto thee, saying, That day that thou goest out, and walkest any whither, knowe assuredly that thou shalt dye the death? And thou saydest vnto mee, The thing is good, that I haue heard.

43. நீ கர்த்தரின் ஆணையையும், நான் உனக்குக் கற்பித்த கட்டளையையும் கைக்கொள்ளாதே போனதென்ன? என்று சொல்லி,

43. Why then hast thou not kept the othe of the Lord, and the commandement wherewith I charged thee?

44. பின்னும் ராஜா சீமேயியைப் பார்த்து: நீ என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குச் செய்ததும் உன் மனதுக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிறதுமான எல்லாப் பொல்லாப்பையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறாய்; ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் உன் பொல்லாப்பை உன் தலையின்மேல் திரும்பப்பண்ணுவார்.

44. The King sayde also to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickednes whereunto thine heart is priuie, that thou diddest to Dauid my father: the Lord therefore shall bring thy wickednesse vpon thine owne head.

45. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனோ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவனாயிருப்பான்; தாவீதின் சிங்காசனம் என்றைக்கும் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உறுதியாயிருக்கும் என்று சொல்லி,

45. And let King Salomon be blessed, and the throne of Dauid stablished before the Lord for euer.

46. ராஜா யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்தான்; அவன் வெளியே போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். ராஜ்யபாரம் சாலொமோனின் கையிலே ஸ்திரப்பட்டது.
