1. அப்பொழுது கிதியோனாகிய யெருபாகாலும் அவனோடிருந்த ஜனங்கள் யாவரும் காலமே எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, ஆரோத் என்னும் நீருற்றின் கிட்டப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; மீதியானியரின் பாளயம் அவனுக்கு வடக்கே மோரே மேட்டிற்குப் பின்னான பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே இருந்தது.

1. Then Ierubbaal (who is Gideon) rose vp early, and all the people that were with him, and pitched beside the well of Harod, so that the hoste of the Midianites was on the Northside of them in the valley by the hill of Moreh.

2. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: நான் மீதியானியரை உன்னோடிருக்கிற ஜனத்தின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறதற்கு அவர்கள் மிகுதியாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; என் கை என்னை இரட்சித்தது என்று இஸ்ரவேல் எனக்கு விரோதமாக வீம்பு பேசுகிறதற்கு இடமாகும்.

2. And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people that are with thee, are too many for me to giue the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel make their vaunt against me, and say, Mine hand hath saued mee.

3. ஆகையால் பயமும் திகிலும் உள்ளவன் எவனோ அவன் திரும்பி, கீலேயாத் மலைகளிலிருந்து விரைவாய் ஓடிப்போகக்கடவன் என்று, நீ ஜனங்களின் செவிகள் கேட்கப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்து என்றார்; அப்பொழுது ஜனத்தில் இருபத்தீராயிரம்பேர் திரும்பிப் போய்விட்டார்கள்; பதினாயிரம்பேர் மீதியாயிருந்தார்கள்.

3. Now therefore proclaime in the audience of the people, and say, Who so is timerous or fearefull, let him returne, and depart earely from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people which were at mount Gilead, two and twentie thousand: so ten thousand remayned.

4. கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் அதிகம், அவர்களைத் தண்ணீரண்டைக்கு இறங்கிப்போகப்பண்ணு; அங்கே அவர்களைப் பரீட்சித்துக்காட்டுவேன்; உன்னோடேகூட வரலாம் என்று நான் யாரைக் குறிக்கிறேனோ, அவன் உன்னோடேகூட வரக்கடவன்; உன்னோடேகூட வரலாகாது என்று நான் யாரைக் குறிக்கிறேனோ, அவன் உன்னோடேகூட வராதிருக்கக்கடவன் என்றார்.

4. And the Lord said vnto Gideon, The people are yet too many: bring them downe vnto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and of whome I say vnto thee, This man shall goe with thee, the same shall go with thee: and of whomsoeuer I say vnto thee, This man shall not goe with thee, the same shall not go.

5. அப்படியே அவன் ஜனங்களைத் தண்ணீரண்டைக்கு இறங்கிப்போகப்பண்ணினான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: தண்ணீரை ஒரு நாய் நக்கும்பிரகாரமாக அதைத் தன் நாவினாலே நக்குகிறவன் எவனோ அவனைத் தனியேயும், குடிக்கிறதற்கு முழங்கால் ஊன்றிக்குனிகிறவன் எவனோ, அவனைத் தனியேயும் நிறுத்து என்றார்.

5. So he brought downe the people vnto the water. And the Lord sayd vnto Gideon, As many as lap the water with their tongues, as a dog lappeth, them put by themselues, and euery one that shall bow downe his knees to drinke, put apart.

6. தங்கள் கையால் அள்ளி, தங்கள் வாய்க்கெடுத்து, நக்கிக்கொண்டவர்களின் இலக்கம் முந்நூறுபேர்; மற்ற ஜனங்களெல்லாம் தண்ணீர் குடிக்கிறதற்கு முழங்கால் ஊன்றிக் குனிந்தார்கள்.

6. And the nomber of them that lapped by putting their handes to their mouthes, were three hundreth men: but all the remnant of the people kneeled downe vpon their knees to drinke water.

7. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: நக்கிக்குடித்த அந்த முந்நூறுபேராலே நான் உங்களை இரட்சித்து, மீதியானியரை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன், மற்ற ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் தங்கள் தங்கள் இடத்திற்குப் போகக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்.

7. Then the Lord sayde vnto Gideon, By these three hundreth men that lapped, will I saue you, and deliuer the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go euery man vnto his place.

8. அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் கையில் தின்பண்டங்களையும் எக்காளங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; மற்ற இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரையும் தங்கள்தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டு, அந்த முந்நூறுபேரை மாத்திரம் வைத்துக்கொண்டான்; மீதியானியரின் சேனை அவனுக்குத் தாழ்விடமான பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருந்தது.

8. So the people tooke vitailes with them, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel, euery man vnto his tent, and reteined the three hundreth men: and the hoste of Midian was beneath him in a valley.

9. அன்று இராத்திரி கர்த்தர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, அந்தச் சேனையினிடத்திற்குப் போ; அதை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்.

9. And the same night the Lord sayde vnto him, Arise, get thee downe vnto the hoste: for I haue deliuered it into thine hand.

10. போகப் பயப்பட்டாயானால், முதல் நீயும் உன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய பூராவும் சேனையினிடத்திற்குப் போய்,

10. But if thou feare to go downe, then go thou, and Phurah thy seruant downe to the hoste,

11. அங்கே என்ன பேசுகிறார்கள் என்று கேள்; பின்பு சேனையினிடத்திற்குப் போக, உன் கைகள் திடப்படும் என்றார்; அப்படியே அவனும் அவன் வேலைக்காரனாகிய பூராவும் சேனையின் முன்னணியிலே ஜாமம் காக்கிறவர்களின் இடமட்டும் போனார்கள்.

11. And thou shalt hearken what they say, and so shall thine handes be strong to go downe vnto the hoste. Then went he downe and Phurah his seruant vnto the outside of the souldiers that were in the hoste.

12. மீதியானியரும், அமலேக்கியரும், சகல கிழக்கத்திய புத்திரரும், வெட்டுக்கிளிகளைப்போலத் திரளாய்ப் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே படுத்துக்கிடந்தார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய ஒட்டகங்களுக்கும் கணக்கில்லை, கடற்கரை மணலைப்போலத் திரளாயிருந்தது.

12. And the Midianites, and the Amalekites and all they of the East, lay in the valley like grashoppers in multitude, and their camels were without nomber, as the sande which is by the sea side for multitude.

13. கிதியோன் வந்தபோது, ஒருவன் மற்றொருவனுக்கு ஒரு சொப்பனத்தைச் சொன்னான். அதாவது இதோ ஒரு சொப்பனத்தைக் கண்டேன்; சுட்டிருந்த ஒரு வாற்கோதுமை அப்பம் மீதியானியரின் பாளயத்திற்கு உருண்டுவந்தது, அது கூடாரமட்டும் வந்தபோது, அதை விழத்தள்ளிக் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டது, கூடாரம் விழுந்துகிடந்தது என்றான்.

13. And when Gideon was come, beholde, a man tolde a dreame vnto his neighbour, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dreame, and lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled from aboue into the hoste of Midian, and came vnto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and ouerturned it, that the tent fell downe.

14. அப்பொழுது மற்றவன்; இது யோவாசின் குமாரனாகிய கிதியோன் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலனுடைய பட்டயமே அல்லாமல் வேறல்ல; தேவன் மீதியானியரையும், இந்தச் சேனை அனைத்தையும், அவன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்றான்.

14. And his fellow answered, and sayde, This is nothing els saue the sworde of Gideon the sonne of Ioash a man of Israel: for into his hande hath God deliuered Midian and all the hoste.

15. கிதியோன் அந்தச் சொப்பனத்தையும் அதின் வியார்த்தியையும் கேட்டபோது, அவன் பணிந்துகொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் பாளயத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்து: எழுந்திருங்கள், கர்த்தர் மீதியானியரின் பாளயத்தை உங்கள் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்று சொல்லி,

15. When Gideon heard the dreame tolde, and the interpretation of the same, he worshipped, and returned vnto the hoste of Israel, and said, Vp: for the Lord hath deliuered into your hande the hoste of Midian.

16. அந்த முந்நூறுபேரை மூன்று படையாக வகுத்து, அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொருவன் கையிலும் ஒரு எக்காளத்தையும், வெறும் பானையையும், அந்தப் பானைக்குள் வைக்கும் தீவட்டியையும் கொடுத்து,

16. And hee deuided the three hundreth men into three bandes, and gaue euery man a trumpet in his hande with emptie pitchers, and lampes within the pitchers.

17. அவர்களை நோக்கி: நான் செய்வதைப் பார்த்து, அப்படியே நீங்களும் செய்யுங்கள். இதோ, நான் பாளயத்தின் முன்னணியில் வந்திருக்கும்போது, நான் எப்படிச் செய்கிறேனோ அப்படியே நீங்களும் செய்யவேண்டும்.

17. And he sayd vnto them, Looke on me, and do likewise, when I come to the side of the hoste: euen as I do, so do you.

18. நானும் என்னோடே இருக்கும் சகலமானபேரும் எக்காளம் ஊதும்போது, நீங்களும் பாளயத்தைச் சுற்றி எங்கும் எக்காளங்களை ஊதி, கர்த்தருடைய பட்டயம் கிதியோனுடைய பட்டயம் என்பீர்களாக என்று சொன்னான்.

18. When I blowe with a trumpet and all that are with me, blowe ye with trumpets also on euery side of the hoste, and say, For the Lord, and for Gideon.

19. நடுஜாமத்தின் துவக்கத்தில், ஜாமக்காரரை மாற்றிவைத்தபின்பு, கிதியோனும் அவனோடிருந்த நூறுபேரும் அந்த ஜாமத்தின் துவக்கத்திலே பாளயத்தின் முன்னணியில் வந்து, எக்காளங்களை ஊதி, தங்கள் கையிலிருந்த பானைகளை உடைத்தார்கள்.

19. So Gideon and the hundreth men that were with him, came vnto the outside of the hoste, in the beginning of the middle watche, and they raised vp the watchmen, and they blew with their trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their handes.

20. மூன்று படைகளின் மனுஷரும் எக்காளங்களை ஊதி, பானைகளை உடைத்து, தீவட்டிகளைத் தங்கள் இடதுகைகளிலும், ஊதும் எக்காளங்களைத் தங்கள் வலது கைகளிலும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, கர்த்தருடைய பட்டயம் கிதியோனுடைய பட்டயம் என்று சத்தமிட்டு,

20. And the three companies blew with trumpets and brake the pitchers, and helde the lampes in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right. handes to blowe withall: and they cryed, The sword of the Lord and of Gideon.

21. பாளயத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் அவரவர் தங்கள் நிலையிலே நின்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது பாளயத்தில் இருந்தவர்கள் எல்லாரும் சிதறிக் கூக்குரலிட்டு, ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

21. And they stoode, euery man in his place round about the hoste: and all the hoste ranne, and cryed, and fled.

22. முந்நூறுபேரும் எக்காளங்களை ஊதுகையில், கர்த்தர் பாளயமெங்கும் ஒருவர் பட்டயத்தை ஒருவருக்கு விரோதமாய் ஓங்கப்பண்ணினார்; சேனையானது சேரோத்திலுள்ள பெத்சித்தாமட்டும், தாபாத்திற்குச் சமீபமான ஆபேல்மேகொலாவின் எல்லைமட்டும் ஓடிப்போயிற்று.

22. And the three hundreth blewe with trumpets, and the Lord set euery mans sworde vpon his neighbour, and vpon all the hoste: so the hoste fled to Beth-hashittah in Zererah, and to the border of Abel-meholah, vnto Tabbath.

23. அப்பொழுது நப்தலி மனுஷரும், ஆசேர் மனுஷரும், மனாசேயின் சகல மனுஷருமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலர் கூடிவந்து, மீதியானியரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து போனார்கள்.

23. Then the men of Israel being gathered together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, pursued after the Midianites.

24. கிதியோன் எப்பிராயீம் மலைகளெங்கும் ஆட்களை அனுப்பி: மீதியானியருக்கு விரோதமாயிறங்கி, பெத்தாபரா இருக்கும் யோர்தான் மட்டும் வந்து, அவர்களுக்கு முந்தித் துறைகளைக் கட்டிக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்; அப்படியே எப்பிராயீமின் மனுஷர் எல்லாரும் கூடி, பெத்தாபரா இருக்கும் யோர்தான் மட்டும் வந்து, துறைகளைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு,

24. And Gideon sent messengers vnto all mount Ephraim, saying, Come downe against the Midianites, and take before them the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered together and tooke the waters vnto Beth-barah, and Iorden.

25. மீதியானியரின் இரண்டு அதிபதிகளாகிய ஓரேபையும் சேபையும் பிடித்து, ஓரேபை ஓரேப் என்னப்பட்ட கன்மலையிலும், சேபை சேப் என்னப்பட்ட ஆலையிலும் கொன்றுபோட்டு, மீதியானியரைத் துரத்தி, ஓரேப் சேப் என்பவர்களின் தலைகளை யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையிலிருந்த கிதியோனிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

25. And they tooke two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb, and slew Oreb vpon the rocke Oreb, and slewe Zeeb at the winepresse of Zeeb, and pursued the Midianites, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon beyonde Iorden.
