1. எப்பீராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தானாகிய மீகா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்.

1. There was a man from the hills of Efrayim named Mikhay'hu.

2. அவன் தன் தாயை நோக்கி: உன்னிடத்திலிருந்த ஆயிரத்து நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசு களவுபோயிற்றே, அதைக் குறித்து என் காதுகள் கேட்க நீ சாபமிட்டாயே, அந்தப் பணம், இதோ, என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது; அதை எடுத்தவன் நான்தான் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன் தாய்: என் மகனே, நீ கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாய் என்றாள்.

2. He said to his mother, 'You know the 1,100 pieces of silver that were taken from you- you pronounced a curse about it, and you told me about it? Well, the money is with me. I took it.' His mother said, 'May ADONAI bless my son,'

3. அவன் அந்த ஆயிரத்து நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசைத் தன் தாயினிடத்தில் திரும்பக் கொடுத்தான்; அவள்: வெட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு சுரூபத்தையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தையும் உண்டுபண்ண, நான் என் கையிலிருந்த இந்த வெள்ளியை என் மகனுக்காக முற்றிலும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று நியமித்தேன்; இப்போதும் இதை உனக்குத் திரும்பக் கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

3. as he restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother. Then his mother said, 'I solemnly dedicate this money of mine to ADONAI, in order for my son to make a carved image overlaid with silver. So now I'm giving it back to you.'

4. அவன் அந்த வெள்ளியைத் தன் தாய்க்குத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் தாய் இருநூறு வெள்ளிக்காசை எடுத்து, தட்டான் கையிலே கொடுத்தாள்; அவன் அதினாலே, வெட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு சுரூபத்தையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தையும் பண்ணினான்; அவைகள் மீகாவின் வீட்டில் இருந்தது.

4. But he returned the money to his mother, and she took 200 pieces of silver and gave them to the metalworker, who made a carved image overlaid with silver which was put in Mikhay'hu's house.

5. மீகா, சுவாமிக்கு ஒரு அறைவீட்டை நியமித்து வைத்திருந்தான்; அவன் ஒரு ஏபோத்தையும் சுரூபங்களையும் உண்டுபண்ணி, தன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனைப் பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ணினான்; இவன் அவனுக்கு ஆசாரியனானான்.

5. This man Mikhah owned a house of God; so he made a ritual vest and household gods and consecrated one of his sons, who became his [cohen].

6. At that time there was no king in Isra'el; a man simply did whatever he thought was right.

7. யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானும் லேவியனுமான ஒரு வாலிபன் அங்கே தங்கியிருந்தான்;

7. There was a young man from Beit-Lechem in Y'hudah, from the family of Y'hudah, who was a [Levi.] He had been staying

8. அந்த மனுஷன் எங்கேயாகிலும் பரதேசியாய்ப் போய்த் தங்கும்படிக்கு, யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப் பிரயாணம் போகையில், எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற மீகாவின் வீட்டில் வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.

8. in Beit-Lechem, but he left there to find another place to live and came to the hills of Efrayim, where eventually he made his way to the house of Mikhah.

9. எங்கே இருந்து வந்தாய் என்று மீகா அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு, அவன்: நான் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானாகிய லேவியன், எங்கேயாகிலும் போய்த் தங்கப்போகிறேன் என்றான்.

9. Mikhah asked him, 'Where are you coming from?' He answered, 'I am a [Levi] from Beit-Lechem in Y'hudah, and I'm looking for a place to live.'

10. அப்பொழுது மீகா: நீ என்னிடத்தில் இரு, நீ எனக்குத் தகப்பனும் ஆசாரியனுமாயிருப்பாய்; நான் உனக்கு வருஷத்திலே பத்து வெள்ளிக்காசையும், மாற்று வஸ்திரத்தையும், உனக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தையும் கொடுப்பேன் என்று அவனிடத்தில் சொன்னான்; அப்படியே லேவியன் உள்ளே போனான்.

10. Mikhah replied, 'Stay with me, and be a father and [cohen] for me; I will give you ten pieces of silver a year, in addition to your clothing and food.' So the [Levi] went in

11. அந்த லேவியன் அந்த மனிதனிடத்தில் இருக்கச் சம்மதித்தான்; அந்த வாலிபன் அவனுக்கு அவன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனைப்போல் இருந்தான்.

11. and agreed to stay with the man; the young man became like one of his sons.

12. மீகா அந்த லேவியனைப் பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ணினான்; அந்த வாலிபன் அவனுக்கு ஆசாரியனாகி, மீகாவின் வீட்டில் இருந்தான்.

12. After Mikhah consecrated the [Levi], the young man became his [cohen] and stayed there in Mikhah's house.

13. அப்பொழுது மீகா: எனக்கு ஆசாரியனாக ஒரு லேவியன் அகப்பட்டபடியினால், கர்த்தர் எனக்கு நன்மை செய்வார் என்று இப்பொழுது அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

13. Mikhah said, 'Now I know that ADONAI will treat me well, because I have a [Levi] for a [cohen].
