1. எப்பீராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தானாகிய மீகா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்.

1. There was a man of mount Ephraim, named Micah.

2. அவன் தன் தாயை நோக்கி: உன்னிடத்திலிருந்த ஆயிரத்து நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசு களவுபோயிற்றே, அதைக் குறித்து என் காதுகள் கேட்க நீ சாபமிட்டாயே, அந்தப் பணம், இதோ, என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது; அதை எடுத்தவன் நான்தான் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன் தாய்: என் மகனே, நீ கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவாய் என்றாள்.

2. And he sayde vnto his mother: The seuen hundred siluerlynges that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spakest it in myne eares, behold the syluer is with me, I toke it away. And his mother sayd: Blessed be thou my sonne, in the Lorde.

3. அவன் அந்த ஆயிரத்து நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசைத் தன் தாயினிடத்தில் திரும்பக் கொடுத்தான்; அவள்: வெட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு சுரூபத்தையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தையும் உண்டுபண்ண, நான் என் கையிலிருந்த இந்த வெள்ளியை என் மகனுக்காக முற்றிலும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று நியமித்தேன்; இப்போதும் இதை உனக்குத் திரும்பக் கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

3. And when he had restored the leuen hundreth syluerlynges to his mother, his mother sayde: I had dedicated the syluer vnto the Lorde of myne hande for thee my sonne, that thou shouldest make a grauen and moulten image: Now therfore I will geue it thee agayne.

4. அவன் அந்த வெள்ளியைத் தன் தாய்க்குத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் தாய் இருநூறு வெள்ளிக்காசை எடுத்து, தட்டான் கையிலே கொடுத்தாள்; அவன் அதினாலே, வெட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு சுரூபத்தையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு விக்கிரகத்தையும் பண்ணினான்; அவைகள் மீகாவின் வீட்டில் இருந்தது.

4. And when he restored the money vnto his mother, his mother toke two hundreth syluerlynges, and gaue them the founder, which made therof a grauen moulten image, and it was in the house of Micah.

5. மீகா, சுவாமிக்கு ஒரு அறைவீட்டை நியமித்து வைத்திருந்தான்; அவன் ஒரு ஏபோத்தையும் சுரூபங்களையும் உண்டுபண்ணி, தன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனைப் பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ணினான்; இவன் அவனுக்கு ஆசாரியனானான்.

5. And the man Micah had an house of goddes, and made an Ephod and Theraphim, and consecrated one of his sonnes, which became his prieste.

6. அந்நாட்களில் இஸ்ரவேலிலே ராஜா இல்லை; அவனவன் தன்தன் பார்வைக்குச் சரிப்போனபடி செய்துவந்தான்.

6. In those dayes there was no kyng in Israel, but euery man dyd that which was good in his owne eyes.

7. யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானும் லேவியனுமான ஒரு வாலிபன் அங்கே தங்கியிருந்தான்;

7. And there was a young man out of Bethlehem Iuda, of the kynred of Iuda, which young man was a Leuite, & soiourned there.

8. அந்த மனுஷன் எங்கேயாகிலும் பரதேசியாய்ப் போய்த் தங்கும்படிக்கு, யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப் பிரயாணம் போகையில், எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற மீகாவின் வீட்டில் வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.

8. And the man departed out of the citie of Bethlehem Iuda, to go dwell where he coulde fynde [a conuenient place]: And he came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah as he iourneyed.

9. எங்கே இருந்து வந்தாய் என்று மீகா அவனைக் கேட்டதற்கு, அவன்: நான் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானாகிய லேவியன், எங்கேயாகிலும் போய்த் தங்கப்போகிறேன் என்றான்.

9. And Micah sayde vnto him: Whence comest thou? The Leuite aunswered hym: I am of Bethlehem Iuda, and go to dwell where I may fynde [a place].

10. அப்பொழுது மீகா: நீ என்னிடத்தில் இரு, நீ எனக்குத் தகப்பனும் ஆசாரியனுமாயிருப்பாய்; நான் உனக்கு வருஷத்திலே பத்து வெள்ளிக்காசையும், மாற்று வஸ்திரத்தையும், உனக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தையும் கொடுப்பேன் என்று அவனிடத்தில் சொன்னான்; அப்படியே லேவியன் உள்ளே போனான்.

10. And Micah sayde agayne vnto hym: Dwell with me, and be vnto me a father and a prieste, and I will geue thee ten syluerlynges by yere, two garmentes, and thy meate and dryncke. So the Leuite went in.

11. அந்த லேவியன் அந்த மனிதனிடத்தில் இருக்கச் சம்மதித்தான்; அந்த வாலிபன் அவனுக்கு அவன் குமாரரில் ஒருவனைப்போல் இருந்தான்.

11. And ye Leuite was content to dwell with the man, and was vnto hym as one of his owne sonnes.

12. மீகா அந்த லேவியனைப் பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ணினான்; அந்த வாலிபன் அவனுக்கு ஆசாரியனாகி, மீகாவின் வீட்டில் இருந்தான்.

12. And Micah consecrated the Leuite, & the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

13. அப்பொழுது மீகா: எனக்கு ஆசாரியனாக ஒரு லேவியன் அகப்பட்டபடியினால், கர்த்தர் எனக்கு நன்மை செய்வார் என்று இப்பொழுது அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

13. Then sayde Micah: Now I am sure that the Lord will be good vnto me, seing I haue a Leuite to my prieste.
