1. ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீன் அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் மாதோனின் ராஜாவாகிய யோபாபிடத்திற்கும், சிம்ரோனின் ராஜாவிடத்திற்கும், அக்சாபின் ராஜாவிடத்திற்கும்,

1. And when Jabin the king of Hazor heard [these things], he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

2. வடக்கேயிருக்கிற மலைகளிலும் கின்னரோத்துக்குத் தெற்கேயிருக்கிற நாட்டுப்புறத்திலும் சமபூமியிலும் மேற்கு எல்லையாகிய தோரிலும் இருக்கிற ராஜாக்களிடத்திற்கும்,

2. and to the kings who were by the great Sidon, to the hill country and to Arabah opposite Chinneroth, and to the plain, and to Dor,

3. கிழக்கேயும், மேற்கேயுமிருக்கிற கானானியரிடத்திற்கும், மலைகளிலிருக்கிற எமோரியர், ஏத்தியர், பெரிசியர், எபூசியரிடத்திற்கும், எர்மோன் மலையின் அடியிலே மிஸ்பா சீமையிலிருக்கிற ஏவியரிடத்திற்கும் ஆள் அனுப்பினான்.

3. and to the Canaanites on the coast eastward, and to the Amorites on the coast, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the mountains, and the Hivites, and those dwelling below Hermon in the land of Mizpah.

4. அவர்கள் கடற்கரை மணலைப்போல் ஏராளமான திரண்ட ஜனமாகிய தங்களுடைய எல்லாச் சேனைகளோடும், மகா ஏராளமான குதிரைகளோடும் இரதங்களோடுங்கூடப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்.

4. And they and their kings with them went forth, as the sand of the sea in multitude, and horses, and very many chariots.

5. இந்த ராஜாக்களெல்லாரும் கூடி, இஸ்ரவேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்து, மேரோம் என்கிற ஏரியண்டையிலே ஏகமாய்ப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

5. And all the kings assembled in person, and came to the same place, and encamped at the waters of Merom to war with Israel.

6. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாயாக; நாளை இந்நேரத்திலே நான் அவர்களையெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக வெட்டுண்டவர்களாக ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன்; நீ அவர்கள் குதிரைகளின் குதிகால் நரம்புகளை அறுத்து, அவர்கள் இரதங்களை அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரிக்கக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

6. And the Lord said to Joshua, Be not afraid of them, for tomorrow [at] this time I will put them to flight before Israel: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire

7. யோசுவாவும், அவனோடேகூட யுத்த ஜனங்கள் அனைவரும், திடீரென்று மேரோம் ஏரியண்டையிலிருக்கிற அவர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்கள்மேல் விழுந்தார்கள்.

7. And Joshua and all the men of war came upon them at the water of Merom suddenly; and they attacked them in the hill country.

8. கர்த்தர் அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேலின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து, பெரிய சீதோன்மட்டும் மிஸ்ரபோத்மாயீம்மட்டும், கிழக்கேயிருக்கிற மிஸ்பே பள்ளத்தாக்குமட்டும் துரத்தி, அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் மீதியாயிராதபடி, அவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

8. And the Lord delivered them into the power of Israel; and they struck them and pursued them to Great Sidon, and to Misrephoth, and to the plains of Mizpah eastward; and they destroyed them till there was not one of them left that survived.

9. யோசுவா கர்த்தர் தனக்குச் சொன்னபடி அவர்களுக்குச் செய்து, அவர்கள் குதிரைகளின் குதிகால் நரம்புகளை அறுத்து, அவர்கள் இரதங்களை அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

9. And Joshua did to them as the Lord commanded him: he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

10. அக்காலத்திலே யோசுவா திரும்பி, ஆத்சோரைப் பிடித்து, அதின் ராஜாவைப் பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டான்; ஆத்சோர் முன்னே அந்த ராஜ்யங்களுக்கெல்லாம் தலைமையான பட்டணமாயிருந்தது.

10. And Joshua returned at that time, and took Hazor and her king; now Hazor in former times was the chief of these kingdoms.

11. அதிலிருந்த நரஜீவன்களையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்; சுவாசமுள்ளது ஒன்றும் மீதியானதில்லை; ஆத்சோரையோ அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

11. And they killed with the sword all that breathed in it, and utterly destroyed them all, and there was no living thing left in it; and they burned Hazor with fire.

12. அந்த ராஜாக்களுடைய எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களையும் அவைகளுடைய எல்லா ராஜாக்களையும் யோசுவா பிடித்து, பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, கர்த்தருடைய தாசனாகிய மோசே கட்டளையிட்டபடி, அவர்களைச் சங்காரம்பண்ணினான்.

12. And Joshua took all the cities of the kingdoms, and their kings, and killed them with the edge of the sword; and utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded.

13. ஆனாலும் தங்கள் அரணிப்போடே இருந்த பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலர் சுட்டெரித்துப்போடாமல் வைத்தார்கள்; ஆத்சோரைமாத்திரம் யோசுவா சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டான்.

13. But all the walled cities Israel did not burn; but Israel burned Hazor only.

14. அந்தப் பட்டணங்களிலுள்ள மிருகஜீவன்களையும் மற்றக் கொள்ளைப்பொருள்களையும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்களுக்கென்று எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் எல்லா மனுஷரையும் அழித்துத் தீருமட்டும் அவர்களைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; சுவாசமுள்ள ஒன்றையும் அவர்கள் மீதியாக வைக்கவில்லை.

14. And the children of Israel took all its spoils to themselves; and they killed all the men with the edge of the sword, and they destroyed them; they left not one of them breathing.

15. கர்த்தர் தமது தாசனாகிய மோசேக்கு எப்படிக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தாரோ, அப்படியே மோசே யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்; அப்படியே யோசுவா செய்தான்; அவன், கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதில் ஒன்றையும் செய்யாமல் விடவில்லை.

15. As the Lord commanded His servant Moses, even so Moses commanded Joshua; and so Joshua did, he transgressed no precept of all that Moses commanded him.

16. இந்தப் பிரகாரமாக யோசுவா சேயீருக்கு ஏறிப்போகிற ஆலாக் மலைதுவக்கி லீபனோனின் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் எர்மோன் மலையடியில் இருக்கிற பாகால் காத்மட்டுமுள்ள அந்த முழுத்தேசமாகிய மலைகளையும், தென்தேசம் யாவையும், கோசேன் தேசத்தையும் சமனான பூமியையும், நாட்டுப்புறத்தையும், இஸ்ரவேலின் மலைகளையும் அதின் சமபூமியையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு,

16. And Joshua took all the hill country, and all the land of the Negev, and all the land of Goshen, and the plain country, and that toward the west, and the mountain of Israel and the low country by the mountain;

17. அவைகளின் ராஜாக்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, அவர்களை வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

17. from the mountain of Halak, and that which goes up to Seir, and as far as Baal Gad, and the plains of Lebanon, below Mount Hermon. And he took all their kings, and killed them.

18. யோசுவா நெடுநாளாய் அந்த ராஜாக்களெல்லாரோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்.

18. And for many days Joshua waged war with these kings.

19. கிபியோனின் குடிகளாகிய ஏவியரைத் தவிர, ஒரு பட்டணமும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோடே சமாதானம் பண்ணவில்லை; மற்றெல்லாப் பட்டணங்களையும் யுத்தம்பண்ணிப் பிடித்தார்கள்.

19. And there was no city which Israel did not take; they took them all in war.

20. யுத்தம்பண்ண இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு எதிராக வரும்படிக்கு, அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் கடினமானதும், இப்படியே அவர்கள்பேரில் இரக்கம் உண்டாகாமல், கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி, அவர்களை அழித்துச் சங்காரம்பண்ணினதும் கர்த்தரால் வந்த காரியமாயிருந்தது.

20. For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts to go forth to war against Israel, that they might be utterly destroyed, that mercy should not be granted to them, but that they should be utterly destroyed, as the Lord said to Moses.

21. அக்காலத்திலே யோசுவா போய், மலைத்தேசமாகிய எபிரோனிலும் தெபீரிலும் ஆனாபிலும் யூதாவின் சகல மலைகளிலும் இருந்த ஏனாக்கியரை நிக்கிரகம்பண்ணி, அவர்களை அவர்கள் பட்டணங்களோடும் கூடச் சங்கரித்தான்.

21. And Joshua came at that time, and utterly destroyed the Anakim out of the hill country, from Hebron and from Debir, and from Anab, and from all the race of Israel, and from all the mountain of Judah with their cities; and Joshua utterly destroyed them.

22. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தில் ஏனாக்கியர் ஒருவரும் மீதியாக வைக்கப்படவில்லை; காசாவிலும் காத்திலும் அஸ்தோத்திலும் மாத்திரம் சிலர் மீதியாயிருந்தார்கள்.

22. There was not [anyone] left of the Anakim by the children of Israel, only there was left of them in Gaza, and in Gath, and in Ashdod.

23. அப்படியே யோசுவா, கர்த்தர் மோசேயினிடத்தில் சொன்னபடியெல்லாம் தேசமனைத்தையும் பிடித்து, அதை இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு, அவர்கள் கோத்திரங்களுடைய பங்குகளின்படியே, சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தான்; யுத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததினால் தேசம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

23. And Joshua took all the land, as the Lord commanded Moses; and Joshua gave them for an inheritance to Israel by division according to their tribes; and the land ceased from war.
