1. ஆத்சோரின் ராஜாவாகிய யாபீன் அதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் மாதோனின் ராஜாவாகிய யோபாபிடத்திற்கும், சிம்ரோனின் ராஜாவிடத்திற்கும், அக்சாபின் ராஜாவிடத்திற்கும்,

1. It happened, when Yavin king of Hatzor heard of it, that he sent to Yovav king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Akhshaf,

2. வடக்கேயிருக்கிற மலைகளிலும் கின்னரோத்துக்குத் தெற்கேயிருக்கிற நாட்டுப்புறத்திலும் சமபூமியிலும் மேற்கு எல்லையாகிய தோரிலும் இருக்கிற ராஜாக்களிடத்திற்கும்,

2. and to the kings who were on the north, in the hill-country, and in the `Aravah south of Kinnarot, and in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

3. கிழக்கேயும், மேற்கேயுமிருக்கிற கானானியரிடத்திற்கும், மலைகளிலிருக்கிற எமோரியர், ஏத்தியர், பெரிசியர், எபூசியரிடத்திற்கும், எர்மோன் மலையின் அடியிலே மிஸ்பா சீமையிலிருக்கிற ஏவியரிடத்திற்கும் ஆள் அனுப்பினான்.

3. to the Kana`ani on the east and on the west, and the Amori, and the Hittite, and the Perizzi, and the Yevusi in the hill-country, and the Hivvi under Hermon in the land of Mitzpah.

4. அவர்கள் கடற்கரை மணலைப்போல் ஏராளமான திரண்ட ஜனமாகிய தங்களுடைய எல்லாச் சேனைகளோடும், மகா ஏராளமான குதிரைகளோடும் இரதங்களோடுங்கூடப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்.

4. They went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

5. இந்த ராஜாக்களெல்லாரும் கூடி, இஸ்ரவேலோடே யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்து, மேரோம் என்கிற ஏரியண்டையிலே ஏகமாய்ப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

5. All these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Yisra'el.

6. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாயாக; நாளை இந்நேரத்திலே நான் அவர்களையெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக வெட்டுண்டவர்களாக ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன்; நீ அவர்கள் குதிரைகளின் குதிகால் நரம்புகளை அறுத்து, அவர்கள் இரதங்களை அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரிக்கக்கடவாய் என்றார்.

6. The LORD said to Yehoshua, Don't be afraid because of them; for tomorrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Yisra'el: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

7. யோசுவாவும், அவனோடேகூட யுத்த ஜனங்கள் அனைவரும், திடீரென்று மேரோம் ஏரியண்டையிலிருக்கிற அவர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்கள்மேல் விழுந்தார்கள்.

7. So Yehoshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly, and fell on them.

8. கர்த்தர் அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேலின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து, பெரிய சீதோன்மட்டும் மிஸ்ரபோத்மாயீம்மட்டும், கிழக்கேயிருக்கிற மிஸ்பே பள்ளத்தாக்குமட்டும் துரத்தி, அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் மீதியாயிராதபடி, அவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

8. The LORD delivered them into the hand of Yisra'el, and they struck them, and chased them to great Tzidon, and to Misrefot-Mayim, and to the valley of Mitzpeh eastward; and they struck them, until they left them none remaining.

9. யோசுவா கர்த்தர் தனக்குச் சொன்னபடி அவர்களுக்குச் செய்து, அவர்கள் குதிரைகளின் குதிகால் நரம்புகளை அறுத்து, அவர்கள் இரதங்களை அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

9. Yehoshua did to them as the LORD bade him: he hamstrung their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

10. அக்காலத்திலே யோசுவா திரும்பி, ஆத்சோரைப் பிடித்து, அதின் ராஜாவைப் பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டான்; ஆத்சோர் முன்னே அந்த ராஜ்யங்களுக்கெல்லாம் தலைமையான பட்டணமாயிருந்தது.

10. Yehoshua turned back at that time, and took Hatzor, and struck the king of it with the sword: for Hatzor before was the head of all those kingdoms.

11. அதிலிருந்த நரஜீவன்களையெல்லாம் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்; சுவாசமுள்ளது ஒன்றும் மீதியானதில்லை; ஆத்சோரையோ அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தான்.

11. They struck all the souls who were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them; there was none left who breathed: and he burnt Hatzor with fire.

12. அந்த ராஜாக்களுடைய எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களையும் அவைகளுடைய எல்லா ராஜாக்களையும் யோசுவா பிடித்து, பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, கர்த்தருடைய தாசனாகிய மோசே கட்டளையிட்டபடி, அவர்களைச் சங்காரம்பண்ணினான்.

12. All the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Yehoshua take, and he struck them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed them; as Moshe the servant of the LORD commanded.

13. ஆனாலும் தங்கள் அரணிப்போடே இருந்த பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலர் சுட்டெரித்துப்போடாமல் வைத்தார்கள்; ஆத்சோரைமாத்திரம் யோசுவா சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டான்.

13. But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Yisra'el burned none of them, save Hatzor only; that did Yehoshua burn.

14. அந்தப் பட்டணங்களிலுள்ள மிருகஜீவன்களையும் மற்றக் கொள்ளைப்பொருள்களையும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்களுக்கென்று எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் எல்லா மனுஷரையும் அழித்துத் தீருமட்டும் அவர்களைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்; சுவாசமுள்ள ஒன்றையும் அவர்கள் மீதியாக வைக்கவில்லை.

14. All the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Yisra'el took for a prey to themselves; but every man they struck with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any who breathed.

15. கர்த்தர் தமது தாசனாகிய மோசேக்கு எப்படிக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தாரோ, அப்படியே மோசே யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்; அப்படியே யோசுவா செய்தான்; அவன், கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதில் ஒன்றையும் செய்யாமல் விடவில்லை.

15. As the LORD commanded Moshe his servant, so did Moshe command Yehoshua: and so did Yehoshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moshe.

16. இந்தப் பிரகாரமாக யோசுவா சேயீருக்கு ஏறிப்போகிற ஆலாக் மலைதுவக்கி லீபனோனின் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் எர்மோன் மலையடியில் இருக்கிற பாகால் காத்மட்டுமுள்ள அந்த முழுத்தேசமாகிய மலைகளையும், தென்தேசம் யாவையும், கோசேன் தேசத்தையும் சமனான பூமியையும், நாட்டுப்புறத்தையும், இஸ்ரவேலின் மலைகளையும் அதின் சமபூமியையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு,

16. So Yehoshua took all that land, the hill-country, and all the South, and all the land of Goshen, and the lowland, and the `Aravah, and the hill-country of Yisra'el, and the lowland of the same;

17. அவைகளின் ராஜாக்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, அவர்களை வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

17. from Mount Halak, that goes up to Se`ir, even to Ba`al-Gad in the valley of Levanon under Mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and struck them, and put them to death.

18. யோசுவா நெடுநாளாய் அந்த ராஜாக்களெல்லாரோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்.

18. Yehoshua made war a long time with all those kings.

19. கிபியோனின் குடிகளாகிய ஏவியரைத் தவிர, ஒரு பட்டணமும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோடே சமாதானம் பண்ணவில்லை; மற்றெல்லாப் பட்டணங்களையும் யுத்தம்பண்ணிப் பிடித்தார்கள்.

19. There was not a city that made shalom with the children of Yisra'el, save the Hivvi the inhabitants of Giv`on: they took all in battle.

20. யுத்தம்பண்ண இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு எதிராக வரும்படிக்கு, அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் கடினமானதும், இப்படியே அவர்கள்பேரில் இரக்கம் உண்டாகாமல், கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி, அவர்களை அழித்துச் சங்காரம்பண்ணினதும் கர்த்தரால் வந்த காரியமாயிருந்தது.

20. For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, to come against Yisra'el in battle, that he might utterly destroy them, that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moshe.

21. அக்காலத்திலே யோசுவா போய், மலைத்தேசமாகிய எபிரோனிலும் தெபீரிலும் ஆனாபிலும் யூதாவின் சகல மலைகளிலும் இருந்த ஏனாக்கியரை நிக்கிரகம்பண்ணி, அவர்களை அவர்கள் பட்டணங்களோடும் கூடச் சங்கரித்தான்.

21. Yehoshua came at that time, and cut off the `Anakim from the hill-country, from Hevron, from Devir, from `Anav, and from all the hill-country of Yehudah, and from all the hill-country of Yisra'el: Yehoshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.

22. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தில் ஏனாக்கியர் ஒருவரும் மீதியாக வைக்கப்படவில்லை; காசாவிலும் காத்திலும் அஸ்தோத்திலும் மாத்திரம் சிலர் மீதியாயிருந்தார்கள்.

22. There was none of the `Anakim left in the land of the children of Yisra'el: only in `Aza, in Gat, and in Ashdod, did some remain.

23. அப்படியே யோசுவா, கர்த்தர் மோசேயினிடத்தில் சொன்னபடியெல்லாம் தேசமனைத்தையும் பிடித்து, அதை இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு, அவர்கள் கோத்திரங்களுடைய பங்குகளின்படியே, சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தான்; யுத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததினால் தேசம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

23. So Yehoshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD spoke to Moshe; and Yehoshua gave it for an inheritance to Yisra'el according to their divisions by their tribes. The land had rest from war.
