1. நான் உனக்கு முன்பாக வைத்த ஆசீர்வாதமும் சாபமுமாகிய இந்தக் காரியங்களெல்லாம் உன்மேல் வரும்போது: நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரால் துரத்திவிடப்பட்டு, எல்லா ஜாதிகளிடத்திலும் போயிருக்கும்போது, நீ உன் இருதயத்திலே சிந்தனைசெய்து,

1. 'And when all these words have come true for you -- the blessing and the curse, which I have offered you -- if you meditate on them in your heart wherever among the nations Yahweh your God has driven you,

2. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்துக்கே திரும்பி, இன்று நான் உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிறபடியெல்லாம், நீயும் உன் பிள்ளைகளும் உங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உங்கள் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் அவருடைய சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடுத்தால்,

2. if you return to Yahweh your God, if with all your heart and with all your soul you obey his voice, you and your children, in everything that I am laying down for you today,

3. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் சிறையிருப்பைத் திருப்பி, உனக்கு இரங்கி, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னைச் சிதற அடித்த எல்லா ஜனங்களிடத்திலும் இருக்கிற உன்னைத் திரும்பச் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளுவார்.

3. then Yahweh your God will bring back your captives, he will have pity on you and gather you back from all the peoples among whom Yahweh your God has scattered you.

4. உன்னுடையவர்கள் வானத்தின் கடையான திசைமட்டும் துரத்துண்டிருந்தாலும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அங்கே இருக்கிற உன்னைக்கூட்டி, அங்கேயிருந்து உன்னைக் கொண்டுவந்து,

4. Should you have been banished to the very sky's end, Yahweh your God will gather you again even from there, will come there to reclaim you

5. உன் பிதாக்கள் சுதந்தரித்திருந்த தேசத்தை நீ சுதந்தரிக்கும்படிக்கு, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அதில் உன்னைச் சேர்த்து, உனக்கு நன்மைசெய்து, உன் பிதாக்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் உன்னைப் பெருகப்பண்ணுவார்.

5. and bring you back to the country which belonged to your ancestors, so that you may possess it in your turn, and be made prosperous there and more numerous than your ancestors.

6. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரில் நீ உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் அன்புகூர்ந்து பிழைக்கும்படி, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் இருதயத்தையும் உன் சந்ததியாரின் இருதயத்தையும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணி,

6. 'Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you will love Yahweh your God with all your heart and soul, and so will live.

7. இந்தச் சாபங்களையெல்லாம் உன் சத்துருக்களின்மேலும் உன்னைத் துன்பப்படுத்தின உன் பகைஞர்மேலும் சுமரப்பண்ணுவார்.

7. Yahweh your God will make all these curses recoil on your foes and on your enemies who have persecuted you.

8. நீயோ மனந்திரும்பி, கர்த்தரின் சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, நான் இன்று உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிற அவருடைய எல்லாக் கற்பனைகளின்படியும் செய்வாய்.

8. And once again you will obey the voice of Yahweh your God and you will put all his commandments into practice, which I am laying down for you today.

9. அப்பொழுது உனக்கு நன்மை உண்டாகும்படி உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் கைகள் செய்யும் எல்லா வேலைகளிலும், உன் கர்ப்பத்தின் கனியிலும், உன் மிருகஜீவனின் பலனிலும், உன் நிலத்தின் கனியிலும் உனக்குப் பரிபூரணமுண்டாகச் செய்வார்.

9. Yahweh your God will make you prosper in all your labours, in the offspring of your body, in the yield of your cattle and in the yield of your soil. For once again Yahweh will delight in your prosperity as he used to take delight in the prosperity of your ancestors,

10. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, இந்த நியாயப்பிரமாண புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளும்போதும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் திரும்பும்போதும், கர்த்தர் உன் பிதாக்கள்மேல் சந்தோஷமாயிருந்ததுபோல, உன்மேலும் உனக்கு நன்மை உண்டாகத் திரும்பவும் சந்தோஷமாயிருப்பார்.

10. if you obey the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping his commandments and decrees written in the book of this Law, and if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and soul.

11. நான் இன்று உனக்கு விதிக்கிற கட்டளை உனக்கு மறைபொருளும் அல்ல, அது உனக்குத் தூரமானதும் அல்ல.

11. 'For this Law which I am laying down for you today is neither obscure for you nor beyond your reach.

12. It is not in heaven, so that you need to wonder, 'Who will go up to heaven for us and bring it down to us, so that we can hear and practise it?'

13. Nor is it beyond the seas, so that you need to wonder, 'Who will cross the seas for us and bring it back to us, so that we can hear and practise it?'

14. நீ அந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்யும்பொருட்டு, அது உனக்கு மிகவும் சமீபமாய் உன் வாயிலும் உன் இருதயத்திலும் இருக்கிறது.

14. No, the word is very near to you, it is in your mouth and in your heart for you to put into practice.

15. இதோ, ஜீவனையும் நன்மையையும், மரணத்தையும் தீமையையும் இன்று உனக்கு முன்னே வைத்தேன்.

15. 'Look, today I am offering you life and prosperity, death and disaster.

16. நீ பிழைத்துப் பெருகும்படிக்கும், நீ சுதந்தரிக்கப்போகிற தேசத்தில் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படிக்கும், நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரில் அன்புகூரவும், அவர் வழிகளில் நடக்கவும், அவர் கற்பனைகளையும் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கைக்கொள்ளவும், நான் இன்று உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிறேன்.

16. If you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am laying down for you today, if you love Yahweh your God and follow his ways, if you keep his commandments, his laws and his customs, you will live and grow numerous, and Yahweh your God will bless you in the country which you are about to enter and make your own.

17. நீ கேளாதபடிக்கு, மனம் பேதித்து, இழுப்புண்டுபோய், வேறே தேவர்களைப் பணிந்து, அவர்களைச் சேவிப்பாயானால்,

17. But if your heart turns away, if you refuse to listen, if you let yourself be drawn into worshipping other gods and serving them,

18. நீங்கள் சுதந்தரிக்கிறதற்கு யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோகிற தேசத்தில் நெடுநாள் வாழாமல், நிச்சயமாய் அழிந்துபோவீர்கள் என்பதை இன்று உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கிறேன்.

18. I tell you today, you will most certainly perish; you will not live for long in the country which you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

19. நான் ஜீவனையும் மரணத்தையும், ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும், சாபத்தையும் உனக்கு முன் வைத்தேன் என்று உங்கள்மேல் வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் இன்று சாட்சி வைக்கிறேன்; ஆகையால், நீயும் உன் சந்ததியும் பிழைக்கும்படிக்கு, நீ ஜீவனைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு,

19. Today, I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I am offering you life or death, blessing or curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live,

20. கர்த்தர் உன் பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாமுக்கும், ஈசாக்குக்கும், யாக்கோபுக்கும் கொடுப்பேன் என்று அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்திலே குடியிருக்கும்படிக்கு, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, அவர் சத்தத்திற்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, அவரைப் பற்றிக்கொள்வாயாக; அவரே உனக்கு ஜீவனும் தீர்க்காயுசுமானவர் என்றான்.

20. in the love of Yahweh your God, obeying his voice, holding fast to him; for in this your life consists, and on this depends the length of time that you stay in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that he would give them.'
