1. பின்பு, மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் பார்வோனிடத்தில் போய்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் வனாந்திரத்திலே எனக்குப் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடும்படி என் ஜனங்களைப் போகவிடவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுகிறார் என்றார்கள்.

1. After these things Moses and Aaron went in, and said to Pharao: Thus saith the Lord God of Israel: Let my people go that they may sacrifice to me in the desert.

2. அதற்குப் பார்வோன்: நான் இஸ்ரவேலைப் போகவிடக் கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்கிறதற்கு அவர் யார்? நான் கர்த்தரை அறியேன்; நான் இஸ்ரவேலைப் போகவிடுவதில்லை என்றான்.

2. But he answered: Who is the Lord, that I should hear his voice, and let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.

3. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: எபிரெயருடைய தேவன் எங்களைச் சந்தித்தார்; நாங்கள் வனாந்தரத்தில் மூன்றுநாள் பிரயாணம் போய், எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடும்படி போகவிடவேண்டும்; போகாதிருந்தால், அவர் கொள்ளைநோயும் பட்டயமும் எங்கள் மேல் வரப்பண்ணுவார் என்றார்கள்.

3. And they said: The God of the Hebrews hath called us, to go three days' journey into the wilderness and to sacrifice to the Lord our God: lest a pestilence or the sword fall upon us.

4. எகிப்தின் ராஜா அவர்களை நோக்கி: மோசேயும் ஆரோனுமாகிய நீங்கள் ஜனங்களைத் தங்கள் வேலைகளை விட்டுக் கலையப்பண்ணுகிறது என்ன? உங்கள் சுமைகளைச் சுமக்கப்போங்கள் என்றான்.

4. The king of Egypt said to them: Why do you Moses and Aaron draw off the people from their works? Get you gone to your burdens.

5. பின்னும் பார்வோன்: இதோ, தேசத்தில் ஜனங்கள் மிகுதியாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் சுமை சுமக்கிறதை விட்டு ஓய்ந்திருக்கும்படி செய்கிறீர்களே என்றான்.

5. And Pharao said: The people of the land is numerous: you see that the multitude is increased: how much more if you give them rest from their works?

6. அன்றியும், அந்நாளிலே பார்வோன் ஜனங்களின் ஆளோட்டிகளையும் அவர்கள் தலைவரையும் நோக்கி:

6. Therefore he commanded the same day the overseers of the works, and the taskmasters of the people, saying:

7. செங்கல் வேலைக்கு நீங்கள் முன்போல இனி ஜனங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர்கள் தாங்களே போய்த் தங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் சேர்க்கட்டும்.

7. You shall give straw no more to the people to make brick, as before: but let them go and gather straw.

8. அவர்கள் முன் செய்துகொடுத்த கணக்கின்படியே செங்கல் செய்யும்படி சொல்லுங்கள்; அதிலே நீங்கள் ஒன்றும் குறைக்கவேண்டாம், அவர்கள் சோம்பலாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அதினால் நாங்கள் போய் எங்கள் தேவனுக்குப் பலியிடுவோம் என்று கூக்குரலிடுகிறார்கள்.

8. And you shall lay upon them the task of bricks, which they did before, neither shall you diminish any thing thereof: for they are idle, and therefore they cry, saying: Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

9. அந்த மனிதர்மேல் முன்னிலும் அதிக வேலையைச் சுமத்துங்கள், அதில் அவர்கள் கஷ்டப்படட்டும்; வீண்வார்த்தைகளுக்கு அவர்கள் செவிகொடுக்கவிடாதிருங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

9. Let them be oppressed, with works, and let them fulfill them: that they may not regard lying words.

10. அப்பொழுது ஜனங்களின் ஆளோட்டிகளும் அவர்கள் தலைவர்களும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுப்பதில்லை;

10. And the overseers of the works and the taskmasters went out and said to the people: Thus saith Pharao, I allow you no straw:

11. நீங்களே போய் உங்களுக்கு அகப்படுகிற இடங்களில் வைக்கோல் சம்பாதியுங்கள்; ஆனாலும் உங்கள் வேலையில் ஒன்றும் குறைக்கப்படுவதில்லை என்று பார்வோன் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றார்கள்.

11. Go, and gather it where you can find it: neither shall any thing of your work be diminished.

12. அப்பொழுது வைக்கோலுக்குப் பதிலாகத் தாளடிகளைச் சேர்க்கும்படி ஜனங்கள் எகிப்துதேசம் எங்கும் சிதறிப்போனார்கள்.

12. And the people was scattered through all the land of Egypt to gather straw.

13. ஆளோட்டிகள் அவர்களை நோக்கி: வைக்கோலிருந்த நாளில் செய்தபடியே உங்கள் வேலைகளை ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் செய்து முடியுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களைத் துரிதப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

13. And the overseers of the works pressed them, saying: Fulfill your work every day as before you were wont to do when straw was given you.

14. பார்வோனுடைய ஆளோட்டிகள் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர்மேல் வைத்த அவர்களுடைய தலைவர்களை நோக்கி: செங்கல் வேலையில் நீங்கள் முன்செய்ததுபோல நேற்றும் இன்றும் ஏன் செய்யவில்லை என்று கேட்டு, அவர்களை அடித்தார்கள்.

14. And they that were over the works of the children of Israel were scourged by Pharao's taskmasters, saying: Why have you not made up the task of bricks both yesterday and today as before?

15. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தலைவர் பார்வோனிடத்தில் போய்ச் சத்தமிட்டு: உமது அடியாருக்கு நீர் இப்படிச் செய்கிறது என்ன?

15. And the officers of the children of Israel came, and cried out to Pharao, saying: Why dealest thou so with thy servants?

16. உமது அடியாருக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடாதிருந்தும், செங்கல் அறுத்துத் தீரவேண்டும் என்று எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறார்கள்; உம்முடைய ஜனங்களிடத்தில் குற்றம் இருக்க, உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் அடிக்கப்படுகிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

16. Straw is not given us, and bricks are required of us as before: behold we thy servants are beaten with whips, and thy people is unjustly dealt withal.

17. அதற்கு அவன்: நீங்கள் சோம்பலாயிருக்கிறீர்கள், சோம்பலாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; அதினால்தான் போகவேண்டும், கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவேண்டும் என்கிறீர்கள்.

17. And he said: You are idle, and therefore you say: Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.

18. போய், வேலை செய்யுங்கள், உங்களுக்கு வைக்கோல் கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை; ஆனாலும் கணக்கின்படியே நீங்கள் செங்கலை ஒப்புவிக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

18. Go therefore, and work: straw shall not be given you, and you shall deliver the accustomed number of bricks.

19. நீங்கள் ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் அறுத்துத் தீரவேண்டிய செங்கலிலே ஒன்றும் குறைக்கப்படாது என்று சொல்லப்பட்டதினாலே, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் தலைவர் தங்களுக்கு இக்கட்டு வந்தது என்று கண்டார்கள்.

19. And the officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in evil case, because it was said to them: There shall not a whit be diminished of the bricks for every day.

20. அவர்கள் பார்வோனுடைய சமுகத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்படுகையில், வழியில் நின்ற மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் எதிர்ப்பட்டு,

20. And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood over against them as they came out from Pharao:

21. அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் பார்வோனின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் அவருடைய ஊழியக்காரரின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் எங்கள் வாசனையைக்கெடுத்து, எங்களைக் கொல்லும்படி அவர்கள் கையிலே பட்டயத்தைக் கொடுத்ததினிமித்தம், கர்த்தர் உங்களைப் பார்த்து நியாயந்தீர்க்கக்கடவர் என்றார்கள்.

21. And they said to them: The Lord see and judge, because you have made our savour to stink before Pharao and his servants, and you have given him a sword to kill us.

22. அப்பொழுது மோசே கர்த்தரிடத்தில் திரும்பிப்போய்: ஆண்டவரே, இந்த ஜனங்களுக்குத் தீங்குவரப்பண்ணினதென்ன? ஏன் என்னை அனுப்பினீர்?

22. And Moses returned to the Lord, and said: Lord, why hast thou afflicted this people? wherefore hast thou sent me?

23. நான் உமது நாமத்தைக்கொண்டு பேசும்படி பார்வோனிடத்தில் பிரவேசித்தது முதல் அவன் இந்த ஜனங்களை உபத்திரவப்படுத்துகிறான்; நீர் உம்முடைய ஜனங்களை விடுதலையாக்கவில்லையே என்றான்.

23. For since the time that I went in to Pharao to speak in thy name, he hath afflicted thy people: and thou hast not delivered them.
