1. அப்பொழுது சூகியனான பில்தாத் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

1. And Bildad the Shuhite answered, saying:

2. நீர் எந்தமட்டும் இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைப் பேசுவீர்? எதுவரைக்கும் உம்முடைய வாயின் வார்த்தைகள் பலமான காற்றைப்போலிருக்கும்?

2. Until when will you speak these things, since the words of your mouth are like a mighty wind?

3. தேவன் நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டுவாரோ? சர்வவல்லவர் நீதியைப் புரட்டுவாரோ?

3. Or does God pervert judgment? Or does the Almighty pervert the right?

4. உம்முடைய பிள்ளைகள் அவருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்திருந்தாலும் அவர்களுடைய பாதகத்தின் ஆக்கினைக்கு அவர்களை அவர் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருந்தாலும்,

4. If your sons have sinned against Him, and if He has sent them away in the hand of their transgression,

5. நீர் தேவனை ஏற்கனவே தேடி, சர்வவல்லவரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பஞ்செய்து,

5. if you would seek earnestly to God, and make your prayer to the Almighty,

6. சுத்தமும் செம்மையுமாய் இருந்தீரேயானால், அப்பொழுது அவர் உமக்காக விழித்து நீதியுள்ள உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தைச் சாங்கோபாங்கமாக்குவார்.

6. if you were pure and upright, surely now He would rise for you, and make whole the abode of your righteousness.

7. உம்முடைய துவக்கம் அற்பமாயிருந்தாலும், உம்முடைய முடிவு சம்பூரணமாயிருக்கும்.

7. And your beginning was small, yet your end would greatly increase.

8. ஆகையால், நீர் முந்தின தலைமுறையாரிடத்தில் விசாரித்து, அவர்கள் முன்னோர்களின் செய்தியை ஆராய்ந்துபாரும்.

8. For now ask of the former generation, and prepare to the search of their fathers;

9. நாம் நேற்று உண்டானவர்கள், ஒன்றும் அறியோம்; பூமியின்மேல் நம்முடைய நாட்கள் நிழலைப்போலிருக்கிறது.

9. for we are but of yesterday, and we know nothing because our days on earth are a shadow.

10. அவர்கள் உமக்கு உபதேசித்து, உமக்குத் தெரிவித்து, தங்கள் இருதயத்திலிருக்கும் நியாயங்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவார்கள் அல்லவோ?

10. Shall they not teach you, speak to you, and bring forth words out of their heart?

11. சேறில்லாமல் நாணல் ஓங்கி வளருமோ? தண்ணீரில்லாமல் கோரைப்புல் முளைக்குமோ?

11. Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the reed grass grow without water?

12. அது இன்னும் பச்சையாயிருக்கும்போதே, அறுக்கப்படாதிருந்தும் மற்ற எந்தப் புல்லைப்பார்க்கிலும் சீக்கிரமாய் வாடிப்போம் அல்லவோ?

12. While it is yet in its greenness, and not cut down, it dries out before every plant.

13. தேவனை மறக்கிற எல்லாருடைய வழிகளும் அப்படியே இருக்கும்; மாயக்காரரின் நம்பிக்கை அழிந்துபோகும்.

13. So are the paths of all those forgetting God; yea, the hope of the ungodly shall perish,

14. அவனுடைய வீண் எண்ணம் அற்றுப்போய், அவனுடைய நம்பிக்கை சிலந்திப்பூச்சி வீடுபோலிருக்கும்.

14. whose hope is cut off, and his trust as a spider's house.

15. ஒருவன் அதின் வீட்டின்மேல் சாய்ந்தால், அது நிலைக்கமாட்டாது, அதைப் பிடித்தால், அது நிற்காது.

15. He shall lean on his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold fast to it, but it shall not endure.

16. வெயில் எரிக்காததற்கு முன்னே அவன் பச்சைச்செடி, அதின் கொடிகள் அவன் தோட்டத்தின்மேலே படரும்;

16. He is moist before the sun, and his tender plants shoot forth on his garden.

17. அதின் வேர்கள் கற்குவியலில் சிக்கி, கற்பாறையை நாடும்.

17. His roots are wrapped around a heap; he sees a house of stones.

18. அது அதினிடத்தில் இராதபடிக்கு நிர்மூலமானபின், அது இருந்த இடம் உன்னை நான் கண்டதில்லையென்று மறுதலிக்கும்.

18. If one swallows him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying I have not seen you!

19. இதோ, அவன் வழியின் மகிழ்ச்சி இப்படியே போகிறது; ஆனாலும் வேறே பேர் மண்ணிலிருந்து முளைப்பார்கள்.

19. Behold this is the joy of His way, and out of the earth others shall grow.

20. இதோ, தேவன் உத்தமனை வெறுக்கிறதுமில்லை, பொல்லாதவர்களுக்குக் கைகொடுக்கிறதுமில்லை.

20. Behold, God will not cast away the innocent, and He will not help the evildoers,

21. இனி அவர் உம்முடைய வாயை நகைப்பினாலும், உம்முடைய உதடுகளைக் கெம்பீரத்தினாலும் நிரப்புவார்.

21. until He fills your mouth with laughter and your lips with rejoicing.

22. உம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்கள் வெட்கத்தால் மூடப்படுவார்கள்; துன்மார்க்கருடைய கூடாரம் அழிந்துபோகும் என்றான்.

22. Those who hate you shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall not be.
