1. Then Elihu said:

2. ஞானிகளே, என் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேளுங்கள்; அறிவாளிகளே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்.

2. Hear my words, you wise men; listen to me, you who know a lot.

3. வாயானது போஜனத்தை ருசிபார்க்கிறதுபோல, செவியானது வார்த்தைகளைச் சோதித்துப்பார்க்கும்.

3. The ear tests words as the tongue tastes food.

4. நமக்காக நியாயமானதைத் தெரிந்துகொள்வோமாக; நன்மை இன்னதென்று நமக்குள்ளே அறிந்துகொள்வோமாக.

4. Let's decide for ourselves what is right, and let's learn together what is good.

5. யோபு: நான் நீதிமான்; தேவன் என் நியாயத்தைத் தள்ளிவிட்டார் என்றும்,

5. 'Job says, 'I am not guilty, and God has refused me a fair trial.

6. நியாயம் என்னிடத்தில் இருந்தும் நான் பொய்யனென்று எண்ணப்படுகிறேன்; மீறுதல் இல்லாதிருந்தும், அம்பினால் எனக்கு உண்டான காயம் ஆறாததாயிருக்கிறதென்றும் சொன்னாரே.

6. Instead of getting a fair trial, I am called a liar. I have been seriously hurt, even though I have not sinned.'

7. யோபைப்போலவே, பரியாசம்பண்ணுதலைத் தண்ணீரைப்போல் குடித்து,

7. There is no other man like Job; he takes insults as if he were drinking water.

8. அக்கிரமக்காரரோடே கூடிக்கொண்டு, துன்மார்க்கரோடே திரிகிறவன் யார்?

8. He keeps company with those who do evil and spends time with wicked men,

9. எப்பயடியெனில், தேவன்மேல் பிரியம் வைக்கிறது மனுஷனுக்குப் பிரயோஜனம் அல்ல என்றாரே.

9. because he says, 'It is no use to try to please God.'

10. ஆகையால் புத்திமான்களே, எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்; அக்கிரமம் தேவனுக்கும், அநீதி சர்வவல்லவருக்கும் தூரமாயிருக்கிறது.

10. 'So listen to me, you who can understand. God can never do wrong! It is impossible for the Almighty to do evil.

11. மனுஷனுடைய செய்கைக்குத்தக்கதை அவனுக்குச் சரிக்கட்டி, அவனவன் நடக்கைக்குத்தக்கதாக அவனவனுக்குப் பலனளிக்கிறார்.

11. God pays a person back for what he has done and gives him what his actions deserve.

12. தேவன் அநியாயஞ் செய்யாமலும், சர்வவல்லவர் நீதியைப் புரட்டாமலும் இருக்கிறது மெய்யே.

12. Truly God will never do wrong; the Almighty will never twist what is right.

13. பூமியின்மேல் மனுஷனுக்கு அதிகாரம் கொடுத்தவர் யார்? பூச்சக்கரம் முழுதையும் ஒழுங்குப்படுத்தினவர் யார்?

13. No one chose God to rule over the earth or put him in charge of the whole world.

14. அவர் தம்முடைய இருதயத்தை அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகத் திருப்பினாராகில், அவனுடைய ஆவியையும் அவனுடைய சுவாசத்தையும் தம்மிடத்தில் இழுத்துக்கொள்ளுவார்.

14. If God should decide to take away life and breath,

15. அப்படியே மாம்சமான யாவும் ஏகமாய் ஜீவித்துப்போம், மனுஷன் தூளுக்குத் திரும்புவான்.

15. then everyone would die together and turn back into dust.

16. உமக்கு உணர்விருந்தால் இதைக் கேளும், என் வார்த்தைகளின் சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடும்.

16. 'If you can understand, hear this; listen to what I have to say.

17. நீதியைப் பகைக்கிற ஒருவன் ஆளக்கூடுமோ? மகா நீதிபரரைக் குற்றப்படுத்துவீரோ?

17. Can anyone govern who hates what is right? and powerful?

18. ஒரு ராஜைவைப் பார்த்து, நீ பொல்லாதவன் என்றும், அதிபதிகளைப் பார்த்து, நீங்கள் அக்கிரமக்காரர் என்றும் சொல்லத்தகுமோ?

18. God is the one who says to kings, 'You are worthless,' or to important people, 'You are evil.'

19. இப்படியிருக்க, பிரபுக்களின் முகத்தைப்பாராமலும், ஏழையைப்பார்க்கிலும் ஐசுவரியவானை அதிகமாய் எண்ணாமலும் இருக்கிறவரை நோக்கி இப்படிச் சொல்லலாமா? இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் அவர் கரங்களின் கிரியையே.

19. He is not nicer to princes than other people, nor kinder to rich people than poor people, because he made them all with his own hands.

20. இப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் சடிதியில் சாவார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் பாதிஜாமத்தில் கலங்கி ஒழிந்துபோவார்கள்; காணாத கையினால் பலவந்தர் அழிந்துபோவார்கள்.

20. They can die in a moment, in the middle of the night. They are struck down, and then they pass away; powerful people die without help.

21. அவருடைய கண்கள் மனுஷருடைய வழிகளை நோக்கியிருக்கிறது; அவர்களுடைய நடைகளையெல்லாம் அவர் பார்க்கிறார்.

21. 'God watches where people go; he sees every step they take.

22. அக்கிரமக்காரர் ஒளித்துக்கொள்ளத்தக்க அந்தகாரமுமில்லை, மரணஇருளுமில்லை.

22. There is no dark place or deep shadow where those who do evil can hide from him.

23. மனுஷன் தேவனோடே வழக்காடும்படி அவர் அவன்மேல் மிஞ்சினதொன்றையும் சுமத்தமாட்டார்.

23. He does not set a time for people to come before him for judging.

24. ஆராய்ந்து முடியாத நியாயமாய் அவர் வல்லமையுள்ளவர்களை நொறுக்கி, வேறே மனுஷரை அவர்கள் ஸ்தானத்திலே நிறுத்துகிறார்.

24. Without asking questions, God breaks powerful people into pieces and puts others in their place.

25. அவர்கள் கிரியைகளை அவர் அறிந்தவரானபடியால், அவர்கள் நசுங்கிப்போகத்தக்கதாய் இராக்காலத்தில் அவர்களைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடுகிறார்.

25. Because God knows what people do, he defeats them in the night, and they are crushed.

26. அவர்கள் அவரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கி அவருடைய எல்லா வழிகளையும் உணர்ந்துகொள்ளாமல் போனபடியினாலும்,

26. He punishes them for the evil they do so that everyone else can watch,

27. எளியவர்களின் கூக்குரல் அவரிடத்தில் சேரும்படி செய்ததினாலும், சிறுமையானவனுடைய கூக்குரலைக் கேட்கிற அவர்,

27. because they stopped following God and did not care about any of his ways.

28. எல்லாரும் பார்க்கும்படி அவர்களைத் துன்மார்க்கரென்று அடிக்கிறார்.

28. The cry of the poor comes to God; he hears the cry of the needy.

29. மாயக்காரன் ஆளாதபடிக்கும், ஜனங்கள் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளப்படாதபடிக்கும்,

29. But if God keeps quiet, who can blame him? If he hides his face, who can see him? God still rules over both nations and persons alike.

30. ஒரு ஜனத்துக்கானாலும் ஒரு மனுஷனுக்கானாலும், அவர் சமாதானத்தை அருளினால் யார் கலங்கப்பண்ணுவான்? அவர் தமது முகத்தை மறைத்தால் அவரைக் காண்கிறவன் யார்?

30. He keeps the wicked from ruling and from trapping others.

31. நான் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டேன்; நான் இனிப் பாவஞ்செய்யமாட்டேன்.

31. 'But suppose someone says to God, 'I am guilty, but I will not sin anymore.

32. நான் காணாத காரியத்தை நீர் எனக்குப் போதியும், நான் அநியாயம்பண்ணினேனானால், நான் இனி அப்படிச் செய்வதில்லை என்று தேவனை நோக்கிச் சொல்லத்தகுமே.

32. Teach me what I cannot see. If I have done wrong, I will not do it again.'

33. நீர் அப்படிச் செய்யமாட்டோமென்கிறபடியினால், உம்மோடிருக்கிறவர்களில் ஒருவனை உமக்குப் பதிலாக அதைச் செய்யச்சொல்வீரோ? நான் அல்ல, நீரே தெரிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும்; அல்லவென்றால், நீர் அறிந்திருக்கிறதைச் சொல்லும்.

33. So, Job, should God reward you as you want when you refuse to change? You must decide, not I, so tell me what you know.

34. யோபு அறிவில்லாமல் பேசினார்; அவர் வார்த்தைகள் ஞானமுள்ளவைகள் அல்லவென்று,

34. 'Those who understand speak, and the wise who hear me say,

35. புத்தியுள்ள மனுஷர் என் பட்சமாய்ப் பேசுவார்கள்; ஞானமுள்ள மனுஷனும் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பான்.

35. 'Job speaks without knowing what is true; his words show he does not understand.'

36. அக்கிரமக்காரர் சொன்ன மறுஉத்தரவுகளினிமித்தம் யோபு முற்றமுடிய சோதிக்கப்படவேண்டியதே என் அபேட்சை.

36. I wish Job would be tested completely, because he answered like an evil man!

37. தம்முடைய பாவத்தோடே மீறுதலைக் கூட்டினார்; அவர் எங்களுக்குள்ளே கைகொட்டி, தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளை மிகுதியாக வசனித்தார் என்றான்.

37. Job now adds to his sin by turning against God. He claps his hands in protest, speaking more and more against God.'
