1. ஆகாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபது வயதாயிருந்து, பதினாறு வருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; ஆனாலும் அவன், தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல், கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்யாமல்,

1. Ahaz was twentie yeere old when he began to reigne, and reigned sixteene yeere in Ierusalem, and did not vprightly in the sight of the Lord, like Dauid his father.

2. இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழிகளில் நடந்து, பாகால்களுக்கு வார்ப்பு விக்கிரகங்களைச் செய்தான்.

2. But he walked in the wayes of ye Kings of Israel, and made euen molten images for Baalim.

3. அவன் இன்னோம் குமாரரின் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே தூபங்காட்டி, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளுடைய அருவருப்புகளின்படியே தன் குமாரரை அக்கினியிலே தகித்துப்போட்டு,

3. Moreouer he burnt incense in the valley of Ben-hinnom, and burnt his sonnes with fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

4. மேடைகளிலும், மலைகளிலும், பச்சையான சகல மரங்களின் கீழும் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தான்.

4. He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the hie places, and on hilles, and vnder euery greene tree.

5. ஆகையால் அவனுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவனைச் சீரியருடைய ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் அவனை முறிய அடித்து, அவனுக்கு இருக்கிறவர்களிலே பெரிய கூட்டத்தைச் சிறைபிடித்துத் தமஸ்குவுக்குக் கொண்டு போனார்கள்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய ராஜாவின் கையிலும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டான்; இவன் அவனை வெகுவாய் முறிய அடித்தான்.

5. Wherefore the Lord his God deliuered him into the hand of the King of the Aramites, and they smote him, and tooke of his, many prisoners, and brought them to Damascus: and he was also deliuered into the hande of the King of Israel, which smote him with a great slaughter.

6. எப்படியெனில், யூதா மனுஷர் தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டபடியினால், ரெமலியாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெக்கா அவர்களில் ஒரே நாளில் லட்சத்திருபதினாயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்று போட்டான்; அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் மகா வீரராயிருந்தவர்கள்.

6. For Pekah the sonne of Remaliah slewe in Iudah sixe score thousand in one day, all valiant men, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

7. அன்றியும் எப்பிராயீமின் பராக்கிரமசாலியான சிக்ரியும், ராஜாவின் குமாரனாகிய மாசேயாவையும், அரமனைத் தலைவனாகிய அஸ்ரிக்காமையும், ராஜாவுக்கு இரண்டாவதான எல்க்கானாவையும் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

7. And Zichri a mighty man of Ephraim slew Maaseiah the Kings sonne, and Azrikam the gouernour of the house, and Elkanah the second after the King.

8. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் சகோதரரில் இரண்டு லட்சம்பேராகிய ஸ்திரீகளையும் குமாரரையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் சிறைபிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய அநேக திரவியங்களைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு, கொள்ளைப்பொருளைச் சமாரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

8. And the children of Israel tooke prisoners of their brethren, two hudreth thousand of women, sonnes and daughters, and caried away much spoyle of them, and brought the spoyle to Samaria.

9. அங்கே ஓதேத் என்னும் பேருள்ள கர்த்தருடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒருவன் இருந்தான்; அவன் சமாரியாவுக்கு வருகிற சேனைக்கு எதிராகப் போய், அவர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் யூதாவின்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டபடியினால் அவர்களை உங்கள் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; நீங்களோ வானபரியந்தம் எட்டுகிற உக்கிரத்தோடே அவர்களைச் சங்காரம் பண்ணினீர்கள்.

9. But there was a Prophet of the Lordes, (whose name was Oded) and he went out before the hoste that came to Samaria, and said vnto them, Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers is wroth with Iudah, he hath deliuered them into your hand, and ye haue slaine them in a rage, that reacheth vp to heauen.

10. இப்போதும் யூதாவின் புத்திரரையும் எருசலேமியரையும் நீங்கள் உங்களுக்கு வேலைக்காரராகவும் வேலைக்காரிகளாகவும் கீழ்ப்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கிறீர்கள்; ஆனாலும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமான குற்றங்கள் உங்களிடத்திலும் இல்லையோ?

10. And nowe ye purpose to keepe vnder the children of Iudah and Ierusalem, as seruants and handmaides vnto you: but are not you such, that sinnes are with you before the Lord your God?

11. ஆதலால் நீங்கள் எனக்குச் செவிகொடுத்து, நீங்கள் உங்கள் சகோதரரிடத்தில் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுவந்தவர்களைத் திரும்ப அனுப்பிவிடுங்கள்; கர்த்தருடைய உக்கிரமான கோபம் உங்கள்மேல் இருக்கிறது என்றான்.

11. Nowe therefore heare me, and deliuer the captiues againe, which ye haue taken prisoners of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the Lord is toward you.

12. அப்பொழுது எப்பிராயீம் புத்திரரின் தலைவரில் சிலபேராகிய யோகனானின் குமாரன் அசரியாவும், மெஷிலெமோத்தின் குமாரன் பெரகியாவும், சல்லூமின் குமாரன் எகிஸ்கியாவும், அத்லாயின் குமாரன் அமாசாவும் யுத்தத்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பி,

12. Wherefore certaine of the chiefe of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the sonne of Iehohanan, Berechiah the sonne of Meshillemoth, and Iehizkiah the sonne of Shallum, and Amasa the sonne of Hadlai, stood vp against them that came from the warre,

13. அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறைபிடித்த இவர்களை இங்கே உள்ளே கொண்டுவரவேண்டாம்; நம்மேல் திரளான குற்றமும், இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் உக்கிரமான கோபமும் இருக்கையில், நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக நம்மேல் குற்றம் சுமரப்பண்ணத்தக்கதாய், நம்முடைய பாவங்களையும் நம்முடைய குற்றங்களையும் அதிகமாக்க நினைக்கிறீர்கள் என்றார்கள்.

13. And said vnto them, Bring not in the captiues hither: for this shalbe a sinne vpon vs against the Lord: ye entende to adde more to our sinnes and to our trespasse, though our trespasse be great, and the fierce wrath of God is against Israel.

14. அப்பொழுது ஆயுதபாணிகளானவர்கள் சிறைபிடித்தவர்களையும், கொள்ளையுடைமைகளையும், பிரபுக்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் சமஸ்த சபைக்கு முன்பாகவும் விட்டுவிட்டார்கள்.

14. So the armie left the captiues and the spoyle before the princes and all the Congregation.

15. அப்பொழுது பேர் குறிக்கப்பட்ட மனுஷர் எழும்பி, சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களில் வஸ்திரமில்லாத சகலருக்கும் கொள்ளையில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட வஸ்திரங்களைக் கொடுத்து, உடுப்பையும் பாதரட்சைகளையும் போடுவித்து, அவர்களுக்குச் சாப்பிடவும் குடிக்கவும் கொடுத்து, அவர்களுக்கு எண்ணெய் வார்த்து, அவர்களில் பலட்சயமானவர்களையெல்லாம் கழுதைகள்மேல் ஏற்றி, பேரீச்சமரங்களின் பட்டணமாகிய எரிகோவிலே அவர்கள் சகோதரரிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவந்துவிட்டு, சமாரியாவுக்குத் திரும்பினார்கள்.

15. And the men that were named by name, rose vp and tooke the prisoners, and with the spoyle clothed all that were naked among them, and arayed them, and shod them, and gaue them meate, and gaue them drinke, and anoynted them, and caryed all that were feeble of them vpon asses, and brought them to Iericho the citie of Palme trees to their brethren: so they returned to Samaria.

16. அக்காலத்திலே ஆகாஸ் என்னும் ராஜா, அசீரியாவின் ராஜாக்கள் தனக்கு ஒத்தாசைபண்ண அவர்களிடத்துக்கு ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்.

16. At that time did King Ahaz sende vnto the Kings of Asshur, to helpe him.

17. ஏதோமியரும் கூடவந்து, யூதாவை முறிய அடித்து, சிலரைச் சிறைபிடித்துப்போயிருந்தார்கள்.

17. (For the Edomites came moreouer, and slew of Iudah, and caryed away captiues.

18. பெலிஸ்தரும் யூதாவிலே சமபூமியிலும் தெற்கேயும் இருக்கிற பட்டணங்களின்மேல் விழுந்து, பெத்ஷிமேசையும், ஆயலோனையும், கெதெரோத்தையும், சொக்கோவையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், திம்னாவையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், கிம்சோவையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும்பிடித்து அங்கே குடியேறினார்கள்.

18. The Philistims also inuaded the cities in the low countrey, and toward the South of Iudah, and tooke Bethshemesh, and Aialon, and Gederoth and Shocho, with the villages thereof, and Timnah, with her villages, and Gimzo, with her villages, and they dwelt there.

19. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாசினிமித்தம் கர்த்தர் யூதாவைத் தாழ்த்தினார்; அவன் யூதாவைச் சீர்குலைத்து, கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய் மிகவும் துரோகம்பண்ணினான்.

19. For the Lord had humbled Iudah, because of Ahaz King of Israel: for he had brought vengeance vpon Iudah, and had grieuously transgressed against the Lord)

20. அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய தில்காத்பில்நேசர் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தான்; அவனை நெருக்கினானே அல்லாமல் அவனைப் பலப்படுத்தவில்லை.

20. And Tilgath Pilneeser king of Asshur came vnto him, who troubled him and did not strengthen him.

21. ஆகாஸ் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் ஒரு பங்கும், ராஜ அரமனையில் ஒரு பங்கும், பிரபுக்களின் கையில் ஒரு பங்கும் எடுத்து, அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவுக்குக் கொடுத்தும், அவனுக்கு உதவி கிடைக்கவில்லை.

21. For Ahaz tooke a portion out of the house of the Lord and out of the Kings house and of the Princes, and gaue vnto the king of Asshur: yet it helped him not.

22. தான் நெருக்கப்படுகிற காலத்திலும் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய் அந்த ஆகாஸ் என்னும் ராஜா துரோகம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டே இருந்தான்.

22. And in ye time of his tribulation did he yet trespasse more against ye Lord, (this is King Ahaz)

23. எப்படியென்றால்: சீரியா ராஜாக்களின் தெய்வங்கள் அவர்களுக்குத் துணை செய்கிறபடியினால், அவர்கள் எனக்கும் துணைசெய்ய அவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடுவேன் என்று சொல்லி, தன்னை முறிய அடித்த தமஸ்குவின் தெய்வங்களுக்கு அவன் பலியிட்டான்; ஆனாலும் அது அவனும் இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தும் நாசமாகிறதற்கு ஏதுவாயிற்று.

23. For he sacrificed vnto the gods of Damascus, which plagued him, and he sayd, Because the gods of the Kings of Aram helped them, I wil sacrifice vnto them, and they will helpe me: yet they were his ruine, and of all Israel.

24. ஆகாஸ் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிமுட்டுகளைச் சேர்த்து, தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிமுட்டுகளைத் துண்டுதுண்டாக்கி, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் கதவுகளைப் பூட்டிப்போட்டு, எருசலேமில் மூலைக்குமூலை பலிபீடங்களை உண்டுபண்ணி,

24. And Ahaz gathered the vessels of ye house of God, and brake the vessels of the house of God, and shut vp the doores of the house of the Lord, and made him altars in euery corner of Ierusalem.

25. அந்நிய தெய்வங்களுக்குத் தூபங்காட்டும்படிக்கு, யூதாவின் ஒவ்வொரு பட்டணத்திலும் மேடைகளை உண்டுபண்ணி; தன் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமூட்டினான்.

25. And in euery citie of Iudah hee made hie places, to burne incense vnto other gods, and prouoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.

26. அவனுடைய மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவனுடைய ஆதியோடந்தமான சகல நடபடிகளும் யூதா இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

26. Concerning the rest of his actes, and all his wayes first and last, beholde, they are written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah, and Israel.

27. ஆகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின்பு, அவனை எருசலேம் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள்; ஆனாலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் கல்லறைகளில் அவனைக் கொண்டுவந்து வைக்கவில்லை; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசேக்கியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

27. And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the citie of Ierusalem, but brought him not vnto the sepulchres of the Kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
