1. எருசலேமின் குடிகள், அவன் இளையகுமாரனாகிய அகசியாவை அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அரபியரோடே கூடவந்து பாளயமிறங்கின தண்டிலிருந்தவர்கள் மூத்த குமாரரையெல்லாம் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்; இவ்விதமாய் அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோராமின் குமாரன் அரசாண்டான்.

1. The people of Jerusalem made his youngest son Ahaziah king in his place. For the army of men who came with the Arabs to the tents had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah, the son of King Jehoram of Judah, began to rule.

2. அகசியா ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபத்திரண்டு வயதாயிருந்து, ஒரு வருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; ஒம்ரியின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவன் தாயின் பேர் அத்தாலியாள்.

2. He was twenty-two years old when he became king. And he ruled for one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, the grand-daughter of Omri.

3. அவனும் ஆகாப் குடும்பத்தாரின் வழிகளில் நடந்தான்; துன்மார்க்கமாய் நடக்க, அவனுடைய தாய் அவனுக்கு ஆலோசனைக்காரியாயிருந்தாள்.

3. Ahaziah walked in the ways of those of Ahab's house. For his mother talked him into doing sinful things.

4. அவன் ஆகாபின் குடும்பத்தாரைப்போல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; அவன் தகப்பன் சென்றுபோனபின்பு, அவர்கள் அவனுக்குக் கேடாக அவனுடைய ஆலோசனைக்காரராயிருந்தார்கள்.

4. He did what was sinful in the eyes of the Lord, as those of Ahab's house had done. For after his father's death, they talked with him about what to do, and so caused him to be destroyed.

5. அவர்களுடைய ஆலோசனைக்கு உட்பட்டவனாய், அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோராம் என்னும் ஆகாபின் குமாரனோடேகூட, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ராமோத்திற்குச் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலுக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போனான்; அங்கே சீரியர் யோராமைக் காயப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

5. He did what they told him to do. He went with Jehoram the son of King Ahab of Israel to fight a war against King Hazael of Syria at Ramoth-gilead. But the Syrians hurt Jehoram.

6. அப்பொழுது தான் சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணுகையில், தன்னை அவர்கள் ராமாவிலே வெட்டின காயங்களை யெஸ்ரெயேலிலே ஆற்றிக்கொள்ள அவன் திரும்பினான்; அப்பொழுது ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய யோராம் வியாதியாயிருந்தபடியினால் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோராமின் குமாரன் அகசியா, யெஸ்ரெயேலிலிருக்கிற அவனைப் பார்க்கிறதற்குப் போனான்.

6. So he returned to Jezreel to be healed of the cuts he had received at Ramah, when he fought against King Hazael of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.

7. அகசியா யோராமிடத்துக்கு வந்தது அவனுக்கு தேவனால் உண்டான கேடாக லபித்தது; எப்படியென்றால், அவன் வந்தபோது யோராமுடனேகூட, கர்த்தர் ஆகாபின் குடும்பத்தாரைச் சங்கரிக்க அபிஷேகம்பண்ணுவித்த நிம்சியின் குமாரனாகிய யெகூவுக்கு நேராக வெளியே போனான்.

7. But it was planned by God that Ahaziah would be destroyed by going to Jehoram. For when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi. Jehu was the one the Lord had chosen to destroy the family of Ahab.

8. யெகூ, ஆகாபின் குடும்பத்தாருக்கு ஆக்கினை நடப்பிக்கும்போது, அவன் அகசியாவைச் சேவிக்கிற யூதாவின் பிரபுக்களையும், அகசியாவுடைய சகோதரரின் குமாரரையும் கண்டுபிடித்துக் கொன்று போட்டான்.

8. When Jehu was punishing the family of Ahab, he found the sons of kings of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers. They were helping Ahaziah. And Jehu killed them.

9. பின்பு, அவன் அகசியாவைத் தேடினான்; சமாரியாவில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த அவனை அவர்கள் பிடித்து, யெகூவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து, அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டு: இவன் தன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் கர்த்தரைத் தேடின யோசபாத்தின் குமாரன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனை அடக்கம் பண்ணினார்கள்; அப்படியே அரசாளுகிறதற்குப் பெலன்கொள்ளத்தக்க ஒருவரும் அகசியாவின் குடும்பத்திற்கு இல்லாமற்போயிற்று.

9. Then he looked for Ahaziah, and he was found hiding in Samaria. He was brought to Jehu, and was put to death. Then they buried him, for they said, 'He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who followed the Lord with all his heart.' So there was no one left of Ahaziah's house who was able to rule the nation.

10. அகசியாவின் தாயாகிய அத்தாலியாள் தன் குமாரன் இறந்துபோனதைக் கண்டபோது, அவள் எழும்பி, யூதா குடும்பத்திலுள்ள ராஜவம்சமான யாவரையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணினாள்.

10. When Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she went and destroyed all the king's children of the family of Judah.

11. ராஜாவின் குமாரத்தியாகிய யோசேபியாத், கொன்று போடப்படுகிற ராஜகுமாரருக்குள் இருக்கிற அகசியாவின் ஆண்பிள்ளையாகிய யோவாசைக் களவாயெடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனையும் அவன் தாதியையும் சயனவீட்டிலே வைத்தாள்; அப்படியே அத்தாலியாள் அவனைக்கொன்றுபோடாதபடிக்கு, ராஜாவாகிய யோராமின் குமாரத்தியும் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் பெண்ஜாதியுமாகிய யோசேபியாத் அவனை ஒளித்துவைத்தாள்; அவள் அகசியாவின் சகோதரியாயிருந்தாள்.

11. But Jehoshabeath, the king's daughter, took Ahaziah's son Joash. She stole him from among the king's sons who were being killed. And she put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the religious leader, and sister of Ahaziah, hid Joash from Athaliah, so she could not kill him.

12. இவர்களோடு அவன் ஆறுவருஷமாய்க் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே ஒளித்துவைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தான்; அத்தாலியாள் தேசத்தின்மேல் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினாள்.

12. Joash was hidden with them in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah ruled over the land.
