1. அவன் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணும் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷம் பத்தாம் மாதம் பத்தாந்தேதியிலே பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரும் அவனுடைய எல்லா இராணுவமும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்து, அதற்கு எதிரே பாளயமிறங்கி, சுற்றிலும் அதற்கு எதிராகக் கொத்தளங்களைக் கட்டினார்கள்.

1. In the tenth month of the ninth year of Zedekiah's reign, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and his whole army advanced against Jerusalem, encamped around it, and built siege walls on every side.

2. அப்படியே சிதேக்கியா ராஜாவின் பதினோராம் வருஷமட்டும் நகரம் முற்றிக்கை போடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

2. The siege of the city continued until the eleventh year of Zedekiah.

3. நாலாம் மாதம் ஒன்பதாந்தேதியிலே பஞ்சம் நகரத்திலே அதிகரித்து, தேசத்தின் ஜனத்திற்கு ஆகாரம் இல்லாமற்போயிற்று; நகரத்தின் மதிலில் திறப்பு கண்டது.

3. On the ninth day of the fourth month, when famine had gripped the city, and the people had no more bread,

4. அப்பொழுது கல்தேயர் நகரத்தைச் சூழ்ந்திருக்கையில், யுத்தமனுஷர் எல்லாரும் இராத்திரிகாலத்தில் ராஜாவுடைய தோட்டத்தின் வழியாய் இரண்டு மதில்களுக்கு நடுவான வாசலால் தப்பி, அவர்களும் ராஜாவுமாய் சமனான பூமியை நோக்கி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

4. the city walls were breached. Then the king and all the soldiers left the city by night through the gate between the two walls which was near the king's garden. Since the Chaldeans had the city surrounded, they went in the direction of the Arabah.

5. கல்தேயரின் இராணுவத்தார் ராஜாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து எரிகோவின் சமனான பூமியில் அவனைப் பிடித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய இராணுவமெல்லாம் அவனை விட்டுச் சிதறிப்போயிற்று.

5. But the Chaldean army pursued the king and overtook him in the desert near Jericho, abandoned by his whole army.

6. அவர்கள் ராஜாவைப் பிடித்து, அவனை ரிப்லாவிலிருக்கிற பாபிலோன் ராஜாவினிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அவனை நியாயந்தீர்த்து,

6. The king was therefore arrested and brought to Riblah to the king of Babylon, who pronounced sentence on him.

7. சிதேக்கியாவின் குமாரரை அவன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக வெட்டி, சிதேக்கியாவின் கண்களைக் குருடாக்கி, அவனுக்கு இரண்டு வெண்கல விலங்குகளைப் போட்டு, அவனைப் பாபிலோனுக்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

7. He had Zedekiah's sons slain before his eyes. Then he blinded Zedekiah, bound him with fetters, and had him brought to Babylon.

8. ஐந்தாம் மாதம் ஏழாந்தேதியிலே நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் என்னும் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் பத்தொன்பதாம் வருஷத்திலே, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய நெபுசராதான் என்னும் காவல் சேனாபதி எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து,

8. On the seventh day of the fifth month (this was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon), Nebuzaradan, captain of the bodyguard, came to Jerusalem as the representative of the king of Babylon.

9. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தையும், ராஜாவின் அரமனையையும், எருசலேமின் சகல கட்டடங்களையும், பெரிய வீடுகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்துவிட்டான்.

9. He burned the house of the LORD, the palace of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem; every large building was destroyed by fire.

10. காவல் சேனாபதியோடிருந்த கல்தேயரின் இராணுவத்தாரெல்லாரும் எருசலேமைச் சுற்றிலும் இருந்த அலங்கங்களை இடித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

10. Then the Chaldean troops who were with the captain of the guard tore down the walls that surrounded Jerusalem.

11. நகரத்தில் மீதியான மற்ற ஜனத்தையும், பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் வசமாக ஓடிவந்துவிட்டவர்களையும், மற்ற ஜனக்கூட்டத்தையும், காவல் சேனாபதியாகிய நெபுசராதான் சிறைகளாகக் கொண்டுபோனான்.

11. Then Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, led into exile the last of the people remaining in the city, and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the last of the artisans.

12. தேசத்தில் ஏழையான சிலரைத் திராட்சத்தோட்டக்காரராகவும் பயிரிடுங்குடிகளாகவும் விட்டிருந்தான்.

12. But some of the country's poor, Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, left behind as vinedressers and farmers.

13. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்த வெண்கலத் தூண்களையும், அதிலிருந்த ஆதாரங்களையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்த வெண்கலக் கடல்தொட்டியையும், கல்தேயர் உடைத்துப்போட்டு, அவைகளின் வெண்கலத்தைப் பாபிலோனுக்கு எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

13. The bronze pillars that belonged to the house of the LORD, and the wheeled carts and the bronze sea in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans broke into pieces; they carried away the bronze to Babylon.

14. செப்புச்சட்டிகளையும், சாம்பல் பாத்திரங்களையும், கத்திகளையும், தூபகலசங்களையும், ஆராதனைக்கடுத்த சகல வெண்கலப் பணிமுட்டுகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.

14. They took also the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the bowls, the pans and all the bronze vessels used for service.

15. சுத்தப் பொன்னும் சுத்த வெள்ளியுமான தூபகலசங்களையும் கலங்களையும் காவல் சேனாபதி எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

15. The fire-holders and the bowls which were of gold or silver the captain of the guard also carried off.

16. சாலொமோன் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்காகப் பண்ணுவித்த இரண்டு தூண்களும், ஒரு கடல்தொட்டியும் ஆதாரங்களுமாகிய அந்தச் சகல பணிமுட்டுகளுடைய வெண்கலத்திற்கும் நிறையில்லை.

16. The weight in bronze of the two pillars, the bronze sea, and the wheeled carts, all of them furnishings which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD, was never calculated.

17. ஒரு தூணின் உயரம் பதினெட்டு முழமாயிருந்தது; அதின்மேல் அதற்கு மூன்றுமுழ உயரமான வெண்கலத் தலைப்பும் உண்டாயிருந்தது; குமிழிலே சுற்றிலும் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த பின்னலும் மாதளம்பழங்களும் எல்லாம் வெண்கலமாயிருந்தது; மற்றத் தூணும் அதின் பின்னலும் அதைப்போல் இருந்தது.

17. Each of the pillars was eighteen cubits high; a bronze capital five cubits high surmounted each pillar, and a network with pomegranates encircled the capital, all of bronze; and so for the other pillar, as regards the network.

18. காவல் சேனாபதி பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய செராயாவையும், இரண்டாம் ஆசாரியனாகிய செப்பனியாவையும், வாசல்காக்கும் மூன்று காவற்காரரையும் பிடித்தான்.

18. The captain of the guard also took Seraiah the high priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the entry.

19. நகரத்திலே அவன் யுத்தமனுஷரின் விசாரிப்புக்காரனாகிய பிரதானி ஒருவனையும், ராஜாவின் மந்திரிகளிலே நகரத்தில் அகப்பட்ட ஐந்துபேரையும், தேசத்தின் ஜனத்தைச் சேவகம் எழுதுகிற தலைவனான இராணுவச்சம்பிரதியையும், தேசஜனத்திலே நகரத்தில் அகப்பட்ட அறுபதுபேரையும் பிடித்தான்.

19. And from the city he took one courtier, a commander of soldiers, five men in the personal service of the king who were still in the city, the scribe of the army commander, who mustered the people of the land, and sixty of the common people still remaining in the city.

20. அவர்களைக் காவல் சேனாபதியாகிய நெபுசராதான் பிடித்து, ரிப்லாவில் இருக்கிற பாபிலோன் ராஜாவினிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோனான்.

20. The captain of the guard, Nebuzaradan, arrested these and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah;

21. அவர்களைப் பாபிலோன் ராஜா ஆமாத் தேசத்தின் பட்டணமான ரிப்லாவிலே வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; இப்படியே யூதா ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் தேசத்திலிருந்து சிறையிருப்புக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டார்கள்.

21. the king had them struck down and put to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath. Thus was Judah exiled from her land.

22. பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார், யூதேயாதேசத்தில் மீதியாக வைத்த ஜனத்தின்மேல், சாப்பானின் குமாரனாகிய அகீக்காமின் மகன் கெதலியாவை அதிகாரியாக வைத்தான்.

22. As for the people whom he had allowed to remain in the land of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, appointed as their governor Gedaliah, son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan.

23. பாபிலோன் ராஜா கெதலியாவை அதிகாரியாக வைத்ததை, சகல இராணுவச் சேர்வைக்காரரும் அவர்களுடைய மனுஷரும் கேட்டபோது, அவர்கள் மிஸ்பாவில் இருக்கிற கெதலியாவினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் யாரெனில், நெத்தனியாவின் குமாரன் இஸ்மவேலும், கரேயாவின் குமாரன் யோகனானும், நெத்தோப்பாத்தியனாகிய தன்கூமேத்தின் குமாரன் செராயாவும், மாகாத்தியனான ஒருவனுடைய குமாரன் யசனியாவும் அவர்கள் மனுஷருமே.

23. Hearing that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah governor, all the army commanders with their men came to him at Mizpah: Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, Johanan, son of Kareah, Seraiah, son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah, from Beth-maacah.

24. அப்பொழுது கெதலியா அவர்களுக்கும் அவர்கள் மனுஷருக்கும் ஆணையிட்டு: நீங்கள் கல்தேயரைச் சேவிக்கப் பயப்படவேண்டாம்; தேசத்திலிருந்து பாபிலோன் ராஜாவைச் சேவியுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு நன்மை உண்டாகும் என்றான்.

24. Gedaliah gave the commanders and their men his oath. 'Do not be afraid of the Chaldean officials,' he said to them. 'Remain in the country and serve the king of Babylon, and all will be well with you.'

25. ஏழாம் மாதத்திலே, ராஜவம்சத்திலே பிறந்த எலிசாமாவின் குமாரனாகிய நெத்தனியாவின் குமாரன் இஸ்மவேல் பத்து மனுஷரோடேகூட வந்து, கெதலியாவையும், அவனோடே மிஸ்பாவிலிருந்த யூதரையும், கல்தேயரையும் வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

25. But in the seventh month Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of royal descent, came with ten men, attacked Gedaliah and killed him, along with the Jews and Chaldeans who were in Mizpah with him.

26. அப்பொழுது சிறியோரும் பெரியோருமாகிய ஜனங்கள் யாவரும் சேனாபதிகளும் கல்தேயருக்குப் பயந்ததினாலே எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு எகிப்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

26. Then all the people, great and small, left with the army commanders and went to Egypt for fear of the Chaldeans.

27. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோயாக்கீனுடைய சிறையிருப்பின் முப்பத்தேழாம் வருஷம் பன்னிரண்டாம் மாதம் இருபத்தேழாந்தேதியிலே, ஏவில் மெரொதாக் என்னும் பாபிலோன் ராஜா, தான் ராஜாவான வருஷத்திலே, யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோயாக்கீனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணி, அவன் தலையை உயர்த்தி,

27. In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin, king of Judah, on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month, Evilmerodach, king of Babylon, in the inaugural year of his own reign, raised up Jehoiachin, king of Judah, from prison.

28. அவனோடே அன்பாய்ப் பேசி, அவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தைத் தன்னோடே பாபிலோனிலிருந்த ராஜாக்களின் சிங்காசனங்களுக்கு உயரமாக வைத்து,

28. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a throne higher than that of the other kings who were with him in Babylon.

29. அவனுடைய சிறைச்சாலை வஸ்திரங்களை மாற்றினான்; அவன் உயிரோடிருந்த சகல நாளும் நித்தம் தனக்கு முன்பாகப் போஜனம்பண்ணும்படி செய்தான்.

29. Jehoiachin took off his prison garb and ate at the king's table as long as he lived.

30. அவன் உயிரோடிருந்த நாளெல்லாம் அவனுடைய செலவுக்காக, ராஜாவினால் கட்டளையான அனுதினத் திட்டத்தின்படி, அனுதினமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுவந்தது.

30. The allowance granted him by the king was a perpetual allowance, in fixed daily amounts, for as long as he lived.
