1. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாசின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருஷத்தில், ஏலாவின் குமாரனாகிய ஓசெயா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி, சமாரியாவிலே ஒன்பதுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

1. Hoshea son of Elah became king over Israel during Ahaz's twelfth year as king of Judah. Hoshea ruled in Samaria nine years.

2. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தனக்கு முன்னிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களைப்போல் செய்யவில்லை.

2. He did what the Lord said was wrong, but he was not as bad as the kings of Israel who had ruled before him.

3. அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சல்மனாசார் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஓசெயா அவனைச் சேவிக்கிறவனாகி, அவனுக்குப் பகுதி கட்டினான்.

3. Shalmaneser king of Assyria came to attack Hoshea. Hoshea had been Shalmaneser's servant and had made the payments to Shalmaneser that he had demanded.

4. ஓசெயா எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சோ என்பவனிடத்துக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பினதும், தனக்கு வருஷந்தோறும் செய்ததுபோல், பகுதி அனுப்பாதே போனதுமான கலக யோசனையை அசீரியாவின் ராஜா ஓசெயாவினிடத்திலே கண்டு, அவனைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்தான்.

4. But the king of Assyria found out that Hoshea had made plans against him by sending messengers to So, the king of Egypt. Hoshea had also stopped giving Shalmaneser the payments, which he had paid every year in the past. For that, the king put Hoshea in prison.

5. அசீரியா ராஜா தேசம் எங்கும் போய், சமாரியாவுக்கும் வந்து அதை மூன்றுவருஷம் முற்றிக்கை போட்டிருந்தான்.

5. Then the king of Assyria came and attacked all the land of Israel. He surrounded Samaria and attacked it for three years.

6. ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷத்தில் அசீரியா ராஜா சமாரியாவைப் பிடித்து, இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோய் அவர்களைக் கோசான் நதி ஓரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான்.

6. He defeated Samaria in the ninth year Hoshea was king, and he took the Israelites away to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.

7. எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனுடைய கையின்கீழிருந்த தங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பாவஞ்செய்து, அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து நடந்து,

7. All these things happened because the Israelites had sinned against the Lord their God. He had brought them out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of the king of Egypt, but the Israelites had honored other gods.

8. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

8. They lived like the nations the Lord had forced out of the land ahead of them. They lived as their evil kings had shown them,

9. செய்யத்தகாத காரியங்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இரகசியத்தில் செய்ததுமன்றி, காவல்காக்கிற கோபுரங்கள் தொடங்கி அரணான பட்டணங்கள்மட்டுமுள்ள தங்கள் ஊர்களிலெல்லாம் தங்களுக்கு மேடைகளையும் கட்டி,

9. secretly sinning against the Lord their God. They built places to worship gods in all their cities, from the watchtower to the strong, walled city.

10. உயரமான சகல மேட்டின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் தங்களுக்குச் சிலைகளையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் நிறுத்தி,

10. They put up stone pillars to gods and Asherah idols on every high hill and under every green tree.

11. கர்த்தர் தங்களை விட்டுக் குடிவிலக்கின ஜாதிகளைப்போல, சகல மேடைகளிலும் தூபங்காட்டி, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாகத் துர்க்கிரியைகளைச் செய்து,

11. The Israelites burned incense everywhere gods were worshiped, just as the nations who lived there before them had done, whom the Lord had forced out of the land. The Israelites did wicked things that made the Lord angry.

12. இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது என்று கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தும், நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்து வந்தார்கள்.

12. They served idols when the Lord had said, 'You must not do this.'

13. நீங்கள் உங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்பி, நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும், என் ஊழியக்காரராகிய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக்கொண்டு உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினதுமான நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியெல்லாம் என் கற்பனைகளையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் ஞான திருஷ்டிக்காரர் எல்லாரையுங்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலுக்கும் யூதாவுக்கும் திடச்சாட்சியாய் எச்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தும்,

13. The Lord used every prophet and seer to warn Israel and Judah. He said, 'Stop your evil ways and obey my commands and laws. Follow all the teachings that I commanded your ancestors, the teachings that I gave you through my servants the prophets.'

14. அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல், தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்மேல் விசுவாசியாமற்போன கடினக் கழுத்துள்ள தங்கள் பிதாக்களைப்போல், தங்கள் கழுத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி,

14. But the people would not listen. They were stubborn, just as their ancestors had been who did not believe in the Lord their God.

15. They rejected the Lord's laws and the agreement he had made with their ancestors. And they refused to listen to his warnings. They worshiped useless idols and became useless themselves. They did what the nations around them did, which the Lord had warned them not to do.

16. தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் விட்டுவிட்டு, இரண்டு கன்றுக்குட்டிகளாகிய வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளை நாட்டி, வானத்தின் சேனைகளையெல்லாம் பணிந்துகொண்டு, பாகாலைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

16. The people rejected all the commands of the Lord their God. They molded statues of two calves, and they made an Asherah idol. They worshiped all the stars of the sky and served Baal.

17. அவர்கள் தங்கள் குமாரரையும் தங்கள் குமாரத்திகளையும் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணி, குறிகேட்டு நிமித்தங்கள் பார்த்து, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்க அவர் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்கிறதற்குத் தங்களை விற்றுப்போட்டார்கள்.

17. They made their sons and daughters pass through fire and tried to find out the future by magic and witchcraft. They always chose to do what the Lord said was wrong, which made him angry.

18. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்து, அவர்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றினார்; யூதா கோத்திரம் மாத்திரமே மீதியாயிற்று.

18. Because he was very angry with the people of Israel, he removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah was left.

19. யூதா ஜனங்களும் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல் இஸ்ரவேல் உண்டாக்கின வழிபாடுகளில் நடந்தார்கள்.

19. But even Judah did not obey the commands of the Lord their God. They did what the Israelites had done,

20. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சந்ததியாரையெல்லாம் புறக்கணித்து, அவர்களைத் தமது முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளுமட்டாக ஒடுக்கி, அவர்களைக் கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

20. so the Lord rejected all the people of Israel. He punished them and let others destroy them; he threw them out of his presence.

21. இஸ்ரவேலர் தாவீது வம்சத்தைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரவேலைக் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கவும், பெரிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யவும்பண்ணினான்.

21. When the Lord separated them from the family of David, the Israelites made Jeroboam son of Nebat their king. Jeroboam led the Israelites away from the Lord and led them to sin greatly.

22. அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யெரொபெயாம் செய்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களிலும் நடந்து,

22. So they continued to do all the sins Jeroboam did. They did not stop doing these sins

23. கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரையும் கொண்டு சொல்லியிருந்தபடி. அவர்களைத் தமது சமுகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றுகிறவரைக்கும், அவைகளை விட்டு விலகாதிருந்தார்கள்; இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர் தங்கள் தேசத்தினின்று அசீரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

23. until the Lord removed the Israelites from his presence, just as he had said through all his servants the prophets. So the Israelites were taken out of their land to Assyria, and they have been there to this day.

24. அசீரியா ராஜா, பாபிலோனிலும், கூத்தாவிலும், ஆபாவிலும், ஆமாத்திலும், செப்பவார்யிமிலும் இருந்து மனுஷரை வரப்பண்ணி, அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குப் பதிலாகச் சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றினான்; இவர்கள் சமாரியாவைச் சொந்தமாய்க் கட்டிக்கொண்டு அதின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

24. The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and put them in the cities of Samaria to replace the Israelites. These people took over Samaria and lived in the cities.

25. அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியேறினது முதல், கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாததினால், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அவைகள் அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது.

25. At first they did not worship the Lord, so he sent lions among them which killed some of them.

26. அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் அசீரியா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கேயிருந்து அனுப்பி, சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றுவித்த ஜாதிகள் அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அறியாதபடியினால், அவர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அவர்கள் அறியாதபடியினால், அவைகள் அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

26. The king of Assyria was told, 'You sent foreigners into the cities of Samaria who do not know the law of the god of the land. This is why he has sent lions among them. The lions are killing them because they don't know what the god wants.'

27. அதற்கு அசீரியா ராஜா: நீங்கள் அங்கேயிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவனை அங்கே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோங்கள்; அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்படிக்கு, அவன் அவர்களுக்கு அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தைப் போதிக்கக்கடவன் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

27. Then the king of Assyria commanded, 'Send back one of the priests you took away. Let him live there and teach the people what the god wants.'

28. அப்படியே அவர்கள் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோயிருந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவன் வந்து, பெத்தேலிலே குடியிருந்து, கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கவேண்டிய விதத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தான்.

28. So one of the priests who had been carried away from Samaria returned to live in Bethel. And he taught the people how to honor the Lord.

29. ஆனாலும் அந்தந்த ஜாதி தங்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டுபண்ணி, அந்தந்த ஜாதியார் குடியேறின தங்கள் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் சமாரியர் உண்டுபண்ணின மேடைகளின் கோவில்களில் வைத்தார்கள்.

29. But each nation made gods of its own and put them in the cities where they lived and in the temples where gods were worshiped. These temples had been built by the Samaritans.

30. பாபிலோனின் மனுஷர் சுக்கோத் பெனோத்தையும், கூத்தின் மனுஷர் நேர்காலையும், ஆமாத்தின் மனுஷர் அசிமாவையும்,

30. The people from Babylon made Succoth Benoth their god. The people from Cuthah worshiped Nergal. The people of Hamath worshiped Ashima.

31. ஆவியர் நிபேகாசையும் தர்தாக்கையும் உண்டாக்கினார்கள், செப்பர்வியர் செப்பர்வாயிமின் தேவர்களாகிய அத்ரமலேக்குக்கும் அன்னமலேக்குக்கும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை அக்கினியில் தகனித்து வந்தார்கள்.

31. The Avvites worshiped Nibhaz and Tartak. The Sepharvites burned their children in the fire, sacrificing them to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

32. அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்ததுமன்றி, மேடைகளிலுள்ள கோவில்களில் தங்களுக்காக ஆராதனை செய்கிறதற்கு, தங்களுக்குள் ஈனமானவர்களை ஆசாரியர்களாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினார்கள்.

32. They also honored the Lord, but they chose priests for the places where gods were worshiped. The priests were chosen from among themselves, and they made sacrifices for the people.

33. அப்படியே கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தாங்கள் விட்டுவந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய முறைமையின்படியே தங்கள் தேவர்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்.

33. The people honored the Lord but also served their own gods, just as the nations did from which they had been brought.

34. இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவர்கள் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைகளின்படியே செய்து வருகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறதுமில்லை, தங்கள் சுய திட்டங்கள் முறைமைகளின்படியாகிலும், கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் என்று பேரிட்ட யாக்கோபின் புத்திரருக்குக் கற்பித்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் கற்பனைக்கும் ஒத்தபடியாகிலும் செய்கிறதுமில்லை.

34. Even today they do as they did in the past. They do not worship the Lord nor obey his rules and commands. They do not obey the teachings or the commands of the Lord, which he gave to the children of Jacob, whom he had named Israel.

35. கர்த்தர் இவர்களோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி, இவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், சேவியாமலும், அவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடாமலும்,

35. The Lord had made an agreement with them and had commanded them, 'Do not honor other gods. Do not bow down to them or worship them or offer sacrifices to them.

36. உங்களை மகா வல்லமையினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து, அவரையே பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவருக்கே பலியிட்டு,

36. Worship the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and strength. Bow down to him and offer sacrifices to him.

37. அவர் உங்களுக்கு எழுதிக்கொடுத்த திட்டங்களின்படியும், முறைமைகளின்படியும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியும், கற்பனைகளின்படியும், நீங்கள் சகல நாளும் செய்கிறதற்குக் கவனமாயிருந்து அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள்.

37. Always obey the rules, orders, teachings, and commands he wrote for you. Do not honor other gods.

38. நான் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கையை நீங்கள் மறவாமலும், அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும்,

38. Do not forget the agreement I made with you, and do not honor other gods.

39. உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து நடப்பீர்களாக; அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்கள் எல்லாச் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கும் உங்களைத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தார்.

39. Instead worship the Lord your God, who will save you from all your enemies.'

40. ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைமைகளின்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

40. But the Israelites did not listen. They kept on doing the same things they had done before.

41. அப்படியே அந்த ஜாதிகள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளும் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் செய்தபடியே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் செய்து வருகிறார்கள்.

41. So these nations honored the Lord but also worshiped their idols, and their children and grandchildren still do as their ancestors did.
