1. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாசின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருஷத்தில், ஏலாவின் குமாரனாகிய ஓசெயா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி, சமாரியாவிலே ஒன்பதுவருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி,

1. In the twelfth year of Judah's King Ahaz, Hoshea son of Elah became king over Israel in Samaria; [he reigned] nine years.

2. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தனக்கு முன்னிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களைப்போல் செய்யவில்லை.

2. He did what was evil in the LORD's sight, but not like the kings of Israel who preceded him.

3. அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சல்மனாசார் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஓசெயா அவனைச் சேவிக்கிறவனாகி, அவனுக்குப் பகுதி கட்டினான்.

3. Shalmaneser king of Assyria attacked him, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute money.

4. ஓசெயா எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சோ என்பவனிடத்துக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பினதும், தனக்கு வருஷந்தோறும் செய்ததுபோல், பகுதி அனுப்பாதே போனதுமான கலக யோசனையை அசீரியாவின் ராஜா ஓசெயாவினிடத்திலே கண்டு, அவனைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்தான்.

4. But the king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy by Hoshea-- he had sent envoys to So king of Egypt and had not paid tribute money to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore, the king of Assyria arrested him and put him in prison.

5. அசீரியா ராஜா தேசம் எங்கும் போய், சமாரியாவுக்கும் வந்து அதை மூன்றுவருஷம் முற்றிக்கை போட்டிருந்தான்.

5. Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, marched up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years.

6. ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷத்தில் அசீரியா ராஜா சமாரியாவைப் பிடித்து, இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோய் அவர்களைக் கோசான் நதி ஓரமான ஆலாகிலும் ஆபோரிலும் மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான்.

6. In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria. He deported the Israelites to Assyria and settled them in Halah and by the Habor, Gozan's river, and in the cities of the Medes.

7. எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனுடைய கையின்கீழிருந்த தங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பாவஞ்செய்து, அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து நடந்து,

7. [This disaster] happened because the people of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt and because they had worshiped other gods.

8. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின ஜாதிகளின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

8. They had lived according to the customs of the nations that the LORD had dispossessed before the Israelites and the customs the kings of Israel had introduced.

9. செய்யத்தகாத காரியங்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக இரகசியத்தில் செய்ததுமன்றி, காவல்காக்கிற கோபுரங்கள் தொடங்கி அரணான பட்டணங்கள்மட்டுமுள்ள தங்கள் ஊர்களிலெல்லாம் தங்களுக்கு மேடைகளையும் கட்டி,

9. The Israelites secretly did what was not right against the LORD their God. They built high places in all their towns from watchtower to fortified city.

10. உயரமான சகல மேட்டின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் தங்களுக்குச் சிலைகளையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் நிறுத்தி,

10. They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

11. கர்த்தர் தங்களை விட்டுக் குடிவிலக்கின ஜாதிகளைப்போல, சகல மேடைகளிலும் தூபங்காட்டி, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாகத் துர்க்கிரியைகளைச் செய்து,

11. They burned incense on all the high places just like those nations that the LORD had driven out before them. They did evil things, provoking the LORD.

12. இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது என்று கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தும், நரகலான விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்து வந்தார்கள்.

12. They served idols, although the LORD had told them, 'You must not do this.'

13. நீங்கள் உங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்பி, நான் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும், என் ஊழியக்காரராகிய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக்கொண்டு உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினதுமான நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியெல்லாம் என் கற்பனைகளையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் ஞான திருஷ்டிக்காரர் எல்லாரையுங்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலுக்கும் யூதாவுக்கும் திடச்சாட்சியாய் எச்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தும்,

13. Still, the LORD warned Israel and Judah through every prophet and every seer, saying, 'Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments and statutes according to all the law I commanded your ancestors and sent to you through My servants the prophets.'

14. அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல், தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்மேல் விசுவாசியாமற்போன கடினக் கழுத்துள்ள தங்கள் பிதாக்களைப்போல், தங்கள் கழுத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி,

14. But they would not listen. Instead, they became obstinate like their ancestors who did not believe the LORD their God.

15. அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும், அவர் தங்கள் பிதாக்களோடேபண்ணின அவருடைய உடன்படிக்கையையும், அவர் தங்களுக்குத் திடச்சாட்சியாய்க் காண்பித்த அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் வெறுத்துவிட்டு, வீணான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி வீணராகி, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிறவர்களைப்போல, செய்ய வேண்டாமென்று கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு விலக்கியிருந்த ஜாதிகளுக்குப் பின்சென்று,

15. They rejected His statutes and His covenant He had made with their ancestors and the warnings He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and became worthless themselves, following the surrounding nations the LORD had commanded them not to imitate.

16. தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் விட்டுவிட்டு, இரண்டு கன்றுக்குட்டிகளாகிய வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளை நாட்டி, வானத்தின் சேனைகளையெல்லாம் பணிந்துகொண்டு, பாகாலைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

16. They abandoned all the commandments of the LORD their God. They made for themselves molded images-- even two calves-- and an Asherah pole. They worshiped the whole heavenly host and served Baal.

17. அவர்கள் தங்கள் குமாரரையும் தங்கள் குமாரத்திகளையும் தீக்கடக்கப்பண்ணி, குறிகேட்டு நிமித்தங்கள் பார்த்து, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்க அவர் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்கிறதற்குத் தங்களை விற்றுப்போட்டார்கள்.

17. They made their sons and daughters pass through the fire and practiced divination and interpreted omens. They devoted themselves to do what was evil in the LORD's sight and provoked Him.

18. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்து, அவர்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றினார்; யூதா கோத்திரம் மாத்திரமே மீதியாயிற்று.

18. Therefore, the LORD was very angry with Israel, and He removed them from His presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained.

19. யூதா ஜனங்களும் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல் இஸ்ரவேல் உண்டாக்கின வழிபாடுகளில் நடந்தார்கள்.

19. Even Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God but lived according to the customs Israel had introduced.

20. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் சந்ததியாரையெல்லாம் புறக்கணித்து, அவர்களைத் தமது முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளுமட்டாக ஒடுக்கி, அவர்களைக் கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

20. So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel, afflicted them, and handed them over to plunderers until He had banished them from His presence.

21. இஸ்ரவேலர் தாவீது வம்சத்தைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரவேலைக் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கவும், பெரிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யவும்பண்ணினான்.

21. When the LORD tore Israel from the house of David, Israel made Jeroboam son of Nebat king. Then Jeroboam led Israel away from following the LORD and caused them to commit great sin.

22. அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யெரொபெயாம் செய்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களிலும் நடந்து,

22. The Israelites persisted in all the sins that Jeroboam committed and did not turn away from them.

23. கர்த்தர் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரையும் கொண்டு சொல்லியிருந்தபடி. அவர்களைத் தமது சமுகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றுகிறவரைக்கும், அவைகளை விட்டு விலகாதிருந்தார்கள்; இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர் தங்கள் தேசத்தினின்று அசீரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

23. Finally, the LORD removed Israel from His presence just as He had declared through all His servants the prophets. So Israel has been exiled to Assyria from their homeland until today.

24. அசீரியா ராஜா, பாபிலோனிலும், கூத்தாவிலும், ஆபாவிலும், ஆமாத்திலும், செப்பவார்யிமிலும் இருந்து மனுஷரை வரப்பண்ணி, அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குப் பதிலாகச் சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றினான்; இவர்கள் சமாரியாவைச் சொந்தமாய்க் கட்டிக்கொண்டு அதின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

24. Then the king of Assyria brought [people] from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and settled them in place of the Israelites in the cities of Samaria. The settlers took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities.

25. அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியேறினது முதல், கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாததினால், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அவைகள் அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது.

25. When they first lived there, they did not fear the LORD. So the LORD sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

26. அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் அசீரியா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கேயிருந்து அனுப்பி, சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றுவித்த ஜாதிகள் அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அறியாதபடியினால், அவர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அவர்கள் அறியாதபடியினால், அவைகள் அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

26. The settlers spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, 'The nations that you have deported and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the custom of the God of the land. Therefore, He has sent lions among them, which are killing them because the people don't know the custom of the God of the land.'

27. அதற்கு அசீரியா ராஜா: நீங்கள் அங்கேயிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவனை அங்கே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோங்கள்; அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்படிக்கு, அவன் அவர்களுக்கு அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தைப் போதிக்கக்கடவன் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.

27. Then the king of Assyria issued a command: 'Send back one of the priests you deported. Have him go and live there so he can teach them the custom of the God of the land.'

28. அப்படியே அவர்கள் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோயிருந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவன் வந்து, பெத்தேலிலே குடியிருந்து, கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கவேண்டிய விதத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தான்.

28. So one of the priests they had deported came and lived in Bethel, and he began to teach them how they should fear the LORD.

29. ஆனாலும் அந்தந்த ஜாதி தங்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டுபண்ணி, அந்தந்த ஜாதியார் குடியேறின தங்கள் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் சமாரியர் உண்டுபண்ணின மேடைகளின் கோவில்களில் வைத்தார்கள்.

29. But [the people of] each nation, in the cities where they lived, were still making their own gods and putting them in the shrines of the high places that the Samaritans had made.

30. பாபிலோனின் மனுஷர் சுக்கோத் பெனோத்தையும், கூத்தின் மனுஷர் நேர்காலையும், ஆமாத்தின் மனுஷர் அசிமாவையும்,

30. The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,

31. ஆவியர் நிபேகாசையும் தர்தாக்கையும் உண்டாக்கினார்கள், செப்பர்வியர் செப்பர்வாயிமின் தேவர்களாகிய அத்ரமலேக்குக்கும் அன்னமலேக்குக்கும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை அக்கினியில் தகனித்து வந்தார்கள்.

31. the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of the Sepharvaim.

32. அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்ததுமன்றி, மேடைகளிலுள்ள கோவில்களில் தங்களுக்காக ஆராதனை செய்கிறதற்கு, தங்களுக்குள் ஈனமானவர்களை ஆசாரியர்களாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினார்கள்.

32. So they feared the LORD, but they also appointed from their number, priests to serve them in the shrines of the high places.

33. அப்படியே கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தாங்கள் விட்டுவந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய முறைமையின்படியே தங்கள் தேவர்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்.

33. They feared the LORD, but they also worshiped their own gods according to the custom of the nations where they had been deported from.

34. இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவர்கள் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைகளின்படியே செய்து வருகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறதுமில்லை, தங்கள் சுய திட்டங்கள் முறைமைகளின்படியாகிலும், கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் என்று பேரிட்ட யாக்கோபின் புத்திரருக்குக் கற்பித்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் கற்பனைக்கும் ஒத்தபடியாகிலும் செய்கிறதுமில்லை.

34. They are [still] practicing the former customs to this day. None of them fear the LORD or observe their statutes and ordinances, the law and commandments the LORD commanded the descendants of Jacob; He renamed him Israel.

35. கர்த்தர் இவர்களோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி, இவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், சேவியாமலும், அவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடாமலும்,

35. The LORD made a covenant with them and commanded them, 'Do not fear other gods; do not bow down to them; do not serve them; do not sacrifice to them.

36. உங்களை மகா வல்லமையினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து, அவரையே பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவருக்கே பலியிட்டு,

36. Instead, fear the LORD, who brought you from the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. You are to bow down to Him, and you are to sacrifice to Him.

37. அவர் உங்களுக்கு எழுதிக்கொடுத்த திட்டங்களின்படியும், முறைமைகளின்படியும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியும், கற்பனைகளின்படியும், நீங்கள் சகல நாளும் செய்கிறதற்குக் கவனமாயிருந்து அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள்.

37. You are to be careful always to observe the statutes, the ordinances, the laws, and the commandment He wrote for you; do not fear other gods.

38. நான் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கையை நீங்கள் மறவாமலும், அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும்,

38. Do not forget the covenant that I have made with you. Do not fear other gods,

39. உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து நடப்பீர்களாக; அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்கள் எல்லாச் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கும் உங்களைத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தார்.

39. but fear the LORD your God, and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.'

40. ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைமைகளின்படியே செய்தார்கள்.

40. However, they would not listen but continued practicing their former custom.

41. அப்படியே அந்த ஜாதிகள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்தும், தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளும் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் செய்தபடியே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் செய்து வருகிறார்கள்.

41. These nations feared the LORD but also served their idols. Their children and grandchildren continue doing as their fathers did until today.
