1. இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாகாசின் குமாரன் யோவாசுடைய இரண்டாம் வருஷத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் குமாரன் அமத்சியா ராஜாவானான்.

1. In the second year of the reign of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz as king of Israel, Amaziah son of Joash became king of Judah

2. அவன் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபத்தைந்து வயதாயிருந்து, எருசலேமிலே இருபத்தொன்பது வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; எருசலேம் நகரத்தாளான அவன் தாயின் பேர் யொவதானாள்.

2. at the age of twenty-five, and he ruled in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years. His mother was Jehoaddin from Jerusalem.

3. அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போலல்ல; தன் தகப்பனாகிய யோவாஸ் செய்தபடியெல்லாம் செய்தான்.

3. He did what was pleasing to the LORD, but he was not like his ancestor King David; instead, he did what his father Joash had done.

4. மேடைகள் மாத்திரம் அகற்றப்படவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டி வந்தார்கள்.

4. He did not tear down the pagan places of worship, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

5. ராஜ்யபாரம் அவன் கையிலே ஸ்திரப்பட்டபோது, அவனுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ராஜாவைக் கொன்றுபோட்ட தன் ஊழியக்காரரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

5. As soon as Amaziah was firmly in power, he executed the officials who had killed his father, the king.

6. ஆனாலும் பிள்ளைகளினிமித்தம் பிதாக்கள் கொலைசெய்யப்படாமலும் பிதாக்களினிமித்தம் பிள்ளைகள் கொலைசெய்யப்படாமலும், அவனவன் செய்த பாவத்தினிமித்தம் அவனவன் கொலை செய்யப்படவேண்டும் என்று மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாண புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்ட பிரகாரம் கொலைசெய்தவர்களின் பிள்ளைகளை அவன் கொல்லாதிருந்தான்.

6. However, he did not kill their children but followed what the LORD had commanded in the Law of Moses: 'Parents are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their children, and children are not to be put to death for crimes committed by their parents; people are to be put to death only for a crime they themselves have committed.'

7. அவன் உப்புப்பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே ஏதோமியரில் பதினாயிரம்பேரை மடங்கடித்து, யுத்தஞ்செய்து சேலாவைப் பிடித்து, அதற்கு இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் இருக்கிற யொக்தியேல் என்னும் பேரைத் தரித்தான்.

7. Amaziah killed ten thousand Edomite soldiers in Salt Valley; he captured the city of Sela in battle and called it Joktheel, the name it still has.

8. அப்பொழுது அமத்சியா யெகூவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாகாசின் குமாரன் யோவாஸ் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவிடத்தில் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நம்முடைய சாமர்த்தியத்தைப் பார்ப்போம் வா என்று சொல்லச் சொன்னான்.

8. Then Amaziah sent messengers to King Jehoash of Israel, challenging him to fight.

9. அதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய அமத்சியாவுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி: லீபனோனிலுள்ள முட்செடியானது, லீபனோனிலுள்ள கேதுரு மரத்தை நோக்கி, நீ உன் மகளை என் மகனுக்கு மனைவியாக விவாகஞ் செய்துகொடு என்று சொல்லச்சொல்லிற்று; ஆனாலும் லீபனோனிலுள்ள ஒரு காட்டுமிருகம் அந்த வழி போகையில் ஓடி அந்த முட்செடியை மிதித்துப் போட்டது.

9. But King Jehoash sent back the following reply: 'Once a thorn bush on the Lebanon Mountains sent a message to a cedar: 'Give your daughter in marriage to my son.' A wild animal passed by and trampled the bush down.

10. நீ ஏதோமியரை முறிய அடித்ததினால் உன் இருதயம் உன்னைக் கர்வங்கொள்ளப்பண்ணினது; நீ பெருமை பாராட்டிக்கொண்டு உன் வீட்டிலே இரு; நீயும் உன்னோடேகூட யூதாவும் விழும்படிக்கு, பொல்லாப்பைத் தேடிக்கொள்வானேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

10. Now Amaziah, you have defeated the Edomites, and you are filled with pride. Be satisfied with your fame and stay at home. Why stir up trouble that will only bring disaster on you and your people?'

11. ஆனாலும் அமத்சியா செவிகொடாதேபோனான்; ஆகையால், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் வந்தான்; யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்ஷிமேசிலே அவனும், யூதாவின் ராஜா அமத்சியாவும், தங்கள் சாமர்த்தியத்தைப் பார்க்கிறபோது,

11. But Amaziah refused to listen, so King Jehoash marched out with his men and fought against him at Beth Shemesh in Judah.

12. யூதா ஜனங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்து அவரவர் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

12. Amaziah's army was defeated, and all his soldiers fled to their homes.

13. அகசியாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாசின் குமாரன் அமத்சியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாவையோ, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் பெத்ஷிமேசிலே பிடித்து, எருசலேமுக்கு வந்து, எருசலேமின் அலங்கத்திலே எப்பிராயீம் வாசல் தொடங்கி மூலைவாசல்மட்டும் நானூறு முழ நீளம் இடித்துப்போட்டு,

13. Jehoash took Amaziah prisoner, advanced on Jerusalem, and tore down the city wall from Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate, a distance of two hundred yards.

14. கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவுடைய அரமனைப் பொக்கிஷங்களிலும் அகப்பட்ட பொன் வெள்ளி யாவையும், சகல பணிமுட்டுகளையும், கிரியிருப்பவர்களையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு சமாரியாவுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனான்.

14. He took all the silver and gold he could find, all the Temple equipment and all the palace treasures, and carried them back to Samaria. He also took hostages with him.

15. யோவாஸ் செய்த மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்களும், அவனுடைய வல்லமையும், அவன் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய அமத்சியாவோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணின விதமும், இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

16. Jehoash died and was buried in the royal tombs in Samaria, and his son Jeroboam II succeeded him as king.

17. இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாகாசின் குமாரன் யோவாஸ் மரணமடைந்தபின், யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் குமாரன் அமத்சியா பதினைந்துவருஷம் உயிரோடிருந்தான்.

17. King Amaziah of Judah lived fifteen years after the death of King Jehoash of Israel.

19. There was a plot in Jerusalem to assassinate Amaziah, so he fled to the city of Lachish, but his enemies followed him there and killed him.

20. குதிரைகள்மேல் அவனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்; அவன் எருசலேமில் இருக்கிற தாவீதின் நகரத்திலே தன் பிதாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

20. His body was carried back to Jerusalem on a horse and was buried in the royal tombs in David's City.

21. யூதா ஜனங்கள் யாவரும் பதினாறு வயதுள்ள அசரியாவை அழைத்து வந்து அவனை அவன் தகப்பனாகிய அமத்சியாவின் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்.

21. The people of Judah then crowned his sixteen-year-old son Uzziah as king.

22. Uzziah reconquered and rebuilt Elath after his father's death.

23. யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் குமாரன் அமத்சியாவின் பதினைந்தாம்வருஷத்தில், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாசின் குமாரன் யெரொபெயாம் ராஜாவாகி சமாரியாவில் நாற்பத்தொரு வருஷம் அரசாண்டு,

23. In the fifteenth year of the reign of Amaziah son of Joash as king of Judah, Jeroboam son of Jehoash became king of Israel, and he ruled in Samaria for forty-one years.

24. கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ்செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்கள் ஒன்றையும் அவன் விட்டு விலகவில்லை.

24. He sinned against the LORD, following the wicked example of his predecessor King Jeroboam son of Nebat, who led Israel into sin.

25. காத்தேப்பேர் ஊரானாகிய அமித்தாய் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியின் குமாரன் யோனா என்னும் தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனைக்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லியிருந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே, அவன் ஆமாத்தின் எல்லை முதற்கொண்டு சமபூமியின் கடல்மட்டுமுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லைகளைத் திரும்பச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டான்.

25. He reconquered all the territory that had belonged to Israel, from Hamath Pass in the north to the Dead Sea in the south. This was what the LORD, the God of Israel, had promised through his servant the prophet Jonah son of Amittai from Gath Hepher.

26. இஸ்ரவேலின் உபத்திரவம் மிகவும் கொடிது என்றும், அடைபட்டவனுமில்லை, விடுபட்டவனுமில்லை, இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு ஒத்தாசை செய்கிறவனுமில்லை என்றும் கர்த்தர் பார்த்தார்.

26. The LORD saw the terrible suffering of the Israelites; there was no one at all to help them.

27. இஸ்ரவேலின் பேரை வானத்தின் கீழிருந்து குலைத்துப்போடுவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லாமல், யோவாசின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் கையால் அவர்களை இரட்சித்தார்.

27. But it was not the LORD's purpose to destroy Israel completely and forever, so he rescued them through King Jeroboam II.

29. Jeroboam died and was buried in the royal tombs, and his son Zechariah succeeded him as king.
