1. தாவீது ராஜா வயதுசென்ற விர்த்தாப்பியனானபோது, வஸ்திரங்களினால் அவனை மூடினாலும், அவனுக்கு அனல் உண்டாகவில்லை.

1. And King David was old, going into days. And they covered him with garments, for he had no heat.

2. அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: ராஜசமுகத்தில் நின்று, அவருக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்யவும், ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்கு அனல் உண்டாகும்படி உம்முடைய மடியிலே படுத்துக்கொள்ளவும் கன்னியாகிய ஒரு சிறு பெண்ணை ராஜாவாகிய எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்குத் தேடுவோம் என்று சொல்லி,

2. And his servants said to him, Let them seek out a young woman for my lord the king, a virgin, and she shall stand before the king, and be a nurse to him, and lie in your bosom, and my lord the king shall have heat.

3. இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லையிலெல்லாம் அழகான ஒரு பெண்ணைத் தேடி, சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாகைக் கண்டு, அவளை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

3. And they sought out a beautiful young woman in all the border of Israel. And they found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her in to the king.

4. அந்தப் பெண் வெகு அழகாயிருந்தாள்; அவள் ராஜாவுக்கு உதவியாயிருந்து அவனுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்தாள்; ஆனாலும் ராஜா அவளை அறியவில்லை.

4. And the young woman was exceedingly beautiful, and she was a nurse to the king and served him. But the king did not know her.

5. ஆகீத்திற்குப் பிறந்த அதோனியா என்பவன்; நான் ராஜா ஆவேன் என்று சொல்லி, தன்னைத்தான் உயர்த்தி, தனக்கு இரதங்களையும் குதிரை வீரரையும், தனக்குமுன் ஓடும் ஐம்பது காலாட்களையும் சம்பாதித்தான்.

5. And Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will reign. And he prepared a chariot for himself, and horsemen, and fifty men running before his face.

6. அவனுடைய தகப்பன்: நீ இப்படிச் செய்வானேன் என்று அவனை ஒருக்காலும் கடிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை; அவன் மிகவும் அழகுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்; அப்சலோமுக்குப்பின் அவனுடைய தாய் அவனைப் பெற்றாள்.

6. And his father had not troubled him all his days, saying, Why have you done so? And he also was very good of form, and one had borne him after Absalom.

7. அவன் செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாபோடும், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரோடும் ஆலோசனைபண்ணிவந்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனிடத்திலிருந்து அவனுக்கு உதவி செய்து வந்தார்கள்.

7. And his words were with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest. And they helped, going after Adonijah.

8. ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், சீமேயியும், ரேயியும், தாவீதோடிருக்கிற பராக்கிரமசாலிகளும், அதோனியாவுக்கு உடந்தையாயிருக்கவில்லை.

8. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who were to David, were not with Adonijah.

9. அதோனியா இன்ரோகேலுக்குச் சமீபமான சோகெலெத் என்னும் கல்லின் அருகே ஆடுமாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும் அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரராகிய தன் சகோதரரெல்லாரையும், ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரரான யூதாவின் மனுஷர் அனைவரையும் அழைத்தான்.

9. And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings near the Stone of Serpents which is near En-rogel. And he called all his brothers, the sons of the king, and all the men of Judah, the servants of the king.

10. தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும், பெனாயாவையும், பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தன் சகோதரனாகிய சாலொமோனையும் அழைக்கவில்லை.

10. But he did not call Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and his brother Solomon.

11. அப்பொழுது நாத்தான் சாலொமோனின் தாயாகிய பத்சேபாளை நோக்கி: நம்முடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல், ஆகீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிற செய்தியை நீ கேட்கவில்லையா?

11. And Nathan spoke to Bathsheba, the mother of Solomon, saying, Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and our lord David does not know?

12. இப்போதும் உன் பிராணனையும், உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனின் பிராணனையும் தப்புவிக்கும்படிக்கு நீ வா, உனக்கு நான் ஆலோசனை சொல்லுவேன்.

12. And now, come, please let me counsel you with counsel, and save your life, and the life of your son Solomon.

13. நீ தாவீது ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, எனக்குப்பின் உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஆணையிடவில்லையா? அப்படியிருக்க, அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிறது என்ன? என்று அவரிடத்தில் கேள்.

13. Go up and go in to King David. And you shall say to him, My lord, O king, have you not sworn to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? And why does Adonijah reign?

14. நீ அங்கே ராஜாவோடே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், நானும் உனக்குப் பின்வந்து, உன் வார்த்தைகளை உறுதிப்படுத்துவேன் என்றான்.

14. Behold, while you are speaking with the king, then I will come in after you and will confirm your words.

15. அப்படியே பத்சேபாள் பள்ளியறைக்குள் ராஜாவிடத்தில் போனாள்; ராஜா மிகவும் வயது சென்றவனாயிருந்தான்; சூனேம் ஊராளாகிய அபிஷாக் ராஜாவுக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தாள்.

15. And Bathsheba came in to the king, to the inner room. And the king was old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.

16. பத்சேபாள் குனிந்து, ராஜாவை வணங்கினாள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உனக்கு என்ன வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான்.

16. And Bathsheba bowed and knelt before the king. And the king said, What shall I do for you?

17. அதற்கு அவள்: என் ஆண்டவனே, எனக்குப்பின் உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைக் கொண்டு, உமது அடியாளுக்கு ஆணையிட்டீரே.

17. And she said to him, My lord, you have sworn to your handmaid by Jehovah your God, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.

18. இப்பொழுது, இதோ, அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிறான்; என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவே, நீர் அதை அறியவில்லை.

18. And now, behold, Adonijah reigns. And now, my lord O king, you have not known.

19. அவன் மாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும் ஆடுகளையும் திரளாக அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரையும், யோவாப் என்னும் படைத்தலைவனையும் அழைத்தான்; ஆனாலும் உமது அடியானாகிய சாலொமோனை அழைக்கவில்லை.

19. And he sacrifices oxen, and fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and Abiathar the priest and Joab the commander of the army. But he has not called to your servant Solomon.

20. ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப் பிறகு அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பவன் இன்னான் என்று தங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்க வேண்டும் என்று இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரின் கண்களும் உம்மை நோக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

20. And you, my lord O king, the eyes of Israel are on you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21. அறிவியாமற்போனால் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய பிதாக்களோடே படுத்துக்கொண்டபின்பு, நானும் என் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனும் குற்றவாளிகளாய் எண்ணப்படுவோம் என்றாள்.

21. And it will be, when my lord the king lies with his fathers, that I, my son Solomon and I, shall be offenders.

22. அவள் ராஜாவோடே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தான் வந்தான்.

22. And, behold, she was speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet came in.

23. தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தான் வந்திருக்கிறார் என்று ராஜாவுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்; அவன் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரவேசித்து முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கினான்.

23. And they told the king, saying, Behold, Nathan the prophet! And he came in before the king and bowed to the king, his nose to the earth.

24. நாத்தான்: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, அதோனியா எனக்குப்பின் ராஜாவாகி, அவனே என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நீர் சொன்னதுண்டோ?

24. And Nathan said, My lord O king, have you said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?

25. அவன் இன்றையதினம் போய், மாடுகளையும் கொழுத்த ஜந்துக்களையும், ஆடுகளையும் திரளாக அடித்து, ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் இராணுவத்தலைவரையும், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரையும் அழைத்தான்; அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் புசித்துக் குடித்து, ராஜாவாகிய அதோனியா வாழ்க என்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

25. For he has gone down today and sacrificed oxen, and fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king's sons, and the army commanders, and Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they are saying, Let King Adonijah live!

26. ஆனாலும் உமது அடியானாகிய என்னையும், ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரனாகிய பெனாயாவையும், உமது அடியானாகிய சாலொமோனையும் அவன் அழைக்கவில்லை.

26. But as for me, I, your servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and for your servant Solomon, he has not called.

27. ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப்பின் தமது சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பவன் இவன்தான் என்று நீர் உமது அடியானுக்குத் தெரிவிக்காதிருக்கையில், இந்தக் காரியம் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் கட்டளையால் நடந்திருக்குமோ என்றான்.

27. If this thing is to come about from my lord the king, then you have not caused your servant to know who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

28. அப்பொழுது தாவீது ராஜா பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பத்சேபாளை என்னிடத்தில் வரவழையுங்கள் என்றான்; அவள் ராஜசமுகத்தில் பிரவேசித்து ராஜாவுக்கு முன்னே நின்றாள்.

28. And King David replied and said, Call Bathsheba for me. And she came in before the king, and stood before the king.

29. அப்பொழுது ராஜா: உன் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோன் எனக்குப்பின் அரசாண்டு, அவனே என் ஸ்தானத்தில் என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருப்பான் என்று நான் உனக்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிட்டபடியே, இன்றைக்குச் செய்து தீர்ப்பேன் என்பதை,

29. And the king swore and said, As Jehovah lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress,

30. என் ஆத்துமாவை எல்லா இக்கட்டுக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கி மீட்ட கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்று ஆணையிட்டான்.

30. surely as I swore to you by Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place; surely so I will do this day.

31. அப்பொழுது பத்சேபாள் தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து ராஜாவை வணங்கி, என் ஆண்டவனாகிய தாவீது ராஜா என்றைக்கும் வாழ்க என்றாள்.

31. And Bathsheba bowed her face to the earth, even bowing to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live forever.

32. பின்பு தாவீது ராஜா, ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும் யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவையும் என்னிடத்தில் வரவழையுங்கள் என்றான்.

32. And King David said, Call Zadok the priest for me and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came in before the king.

33. அவர்கள் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரவேசித்தபோது, ராஜா அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் உங்கள் ஆண்டவனுடைய சேவகரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, என் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனை என் கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி, அவனைக் கீகோனுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போங்கள்.

33. And the king said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and you shall cause my son Solomon to ride on my mule, and cause him to go down to Gihon.

34. அங்கே ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும் தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும் அவனை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணக்கடவர்கள்; பின்பு எக்காளம் ஊதி, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் வாழ்க என்று வாழ்த்துங்கள்.

34. And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet shall anoint him there as king over Israel. And you shall blow with the ram's horn and shout, Let King Solomon live!

35. அதின் பின்பு அவன் நகர்வலம் வந்து, என் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும்படி, அவனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்; அவனே என் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாயிருப்பான்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் யூதாவின்மேலும் தலைவனாயிருக்கும்படி அவனை ஏற்படுத்தினேன் என்றான்.

35. And you shall come up after him, and let him come and sit on my throne, for he shall reign in my place. For I have appointed him ruler over Israel, and over Judah.

36. அப்பொழுது யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா ராஜாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஆமென், ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரும் இப்படியே சொல்வாராக.

36. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king and said, Amen! So says Jehovah the God of my lord the king.

37. கர்த்தர் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடே எப்படி இருந்தாரோ, அப்படியே அவர் சாலொமோனோடும் இருந்து, தாவீது ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப் பெரிதாக்குவாராக என்றான்.

37. As Jehovah has been with my lord the king, so shall He be with Solomon, and shall make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.

38. அப்படியே ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவும், கிரேத்தியரும் பிலேத்தியரும் போய், சாலொமோனைத் தாவீது ராஜாவினுடைய கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி, அவனைக் கீகோனுக்கு நடத்திக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.

38. And Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went out and caused Solomon to ride on King David's mule, and caused him to go to Gihon.

39. ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கு தைலக்கொம்பைக் கூடாரத்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், சாலொமோனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினான்; அப்பொழுது எக்காளம் ஊதி, ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் வாழ்க என்று வாழ்த்தினார்கள்.

39. And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew with the ram's horn, and all the people shouted, Let King Solomon live!

40. பிற்பாடு ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் அவன் பிறகாலே போனார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் நாகசுரங்களை ஊதி, பூமி அவர்கள் சத்தத்தினால் அதிரத்தக்கதாக மகா பூரிப்பாய்ச் சந்தோஷித்தார்கள்.

40. And all the people came up after him. And the people were piping with pipes, and rejoicing with great joy. And the earth was torn with their sound.

41. அதோனியாவும் அவனோடிருந்த எல்லா விருந்தாளிகளும் போஜனம்பண்ணி முடித்தபோது, அதைக் கேட்டார்கள்; யோவாப் எக்காளசத்தத்தைக் கேட்டபோது, நகரத்தில் உண்டாயிருக்கிற ஆரவாரம் என்ன என்று விசாரித்தான்.

41. And Adonijah heard, and all those invited, who were with him. And they stopped eating. And Joab heard the sound of the ram's horn, and said, What is this noise roaring from the city?

42. அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரின் குமாரன் யோனத்தான் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது அதோனியா, உள்ளே வா, நீ கெட்டிக்காரன், நீ நற்செய்தி கொண்டு வருகிறவன் என்றான்.

42. And he was still speaking, and, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came in. And Adonijah said, Come in, for you are a mighty man and bear good news.

43. யோனத்தான் அதோனியாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஏது, தாவீது ராஜாவாகிய நம்முடைய ஆண்டவன் சாலொமோனை ராஜாவாக்கினாரே.

43. And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Truly our lord, King David, has caused Solomon to reign.

44. ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவையும், கிரேத்தியரையும் பிலேத்தியரையும் அவனோடே அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் அவனை ராஜாவுடைய கோவேறு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றினார்கள்.

44. And the king sent Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet with him, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites. And they caused him to ride on the king's mule.

45. ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், அவனைக் கீகோனிலே ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார்கள்; நகரமெல்லாம் முழங்கத்தக்கதாக அங்கேயிருந்து பூரிப்போடே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்; நீங்கள் கேட்ட இரைச்சல் அதுதான்.

45. And they anointed him, Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet, as king in Gihon. And they have come up from there rejoicing. And the city was roaring. It is the noise that you heard.

46. அல்லாமலும் சாலொமோன் ராஜாங்கத்துக்குரிய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் வீற்றிருக்கிறான்.

46. And also Solomon has sat on the throne of the kingdom.

47. ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரரும் தாவீது ராஜாவாகிய நம்முடைய ஆண்டவனை வாழ்த்துதல் செய்யவந்து: தேவன் சாலொமோனின் நாமத்தை உம்முடைய நாமத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் பிரபலப்படுத்தி, அவருடைய சிங்காசனத்தை உம்முடைய சிங்காசனத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும் பெரிதாக்குவாராக என்றார்கள்; ராஜா தம்முடைய கட்டிலின்மேல் குனிந்து பணிந்துகொண்டார்.

47. And also the king's servants have come in to bless our lord, King David, saying, Your God shall make the name of Solomon better than your name, and his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself on the bed.

48. பின்னும் ராஜா: என்னுடைய கண்கள் காண இன்றையதினம் என் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் ஒருவனை வீற்றிருக்கச்செய்த இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் என்று சொன்னார் என்றான்.

48. And also the king has said, Blessed is Jehovah the God of Israel who has today given one sitting on my throne, and my eyes seeing it.

49. அப்பொழுது அதோனியாவின் விருந்தாளிகளெல்லாரும் அதிர்ந்து எழுந்திருந்து, அவரவர் தங்கள் வழியே போய்விட்டார்கள்.

49. And they trembled and rose up, all those who were invited by Adonijah, and left, each to his way.

50. அதோனியா, சாலொமோனுக்குப் பயந்ததினால் எழுந்துபோய், பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துகொண்டான்.

50. And Adonijah was afraid because of Solomon, and he rose up and went and lay hold on the horns of the altar.

51. இதோ, அதோனியா ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிறான் என்றும், இதோ, அவன் பலிபீடத்தின் கொம்புகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் தமது அடியானைப் பட்டயத்தாலே கொன்று போடுவதில்லை என்று இன்று எனக்கு ஆணையிடுவாராக என்கிறான் என்றும், சாலொமோனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

51. And it was told to Solomon, saying, Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon. And, behold, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear to me as of today that he will not put his servant to death by the sword.

52. அப்பொழுது சாலொமோன்: அவன் யோக்கியன் என்று விளங்க நடந்துகொண்டால் அவன் தலைமயிரில் ஒன்றும் தரையிலே விழப்போகிறதில்லை; அவனிடத்தில் பொல்லாப்புக் காணப்படுமேயாகில், அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான்.

52. And Solomon said, If he becomes a son of virtue, not a hair of his head shall fall to the earth. But if evil is found in him, then he shall die.

53. அவனைப் பலிபீடத்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவர, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன் ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான்; அவன் வந்து, ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோனை வணங்கினான்; சாலொமோன் அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் வீட்டிற்குப் போ என்றான்.
