1. யோனத்தான் நிமித்தம் என்னால் தயவு பெறத்தக்கவன் எவனாவது சவுலின் வீட்டாரில் இன்னும் மீதியாயிருக்கிறவன் உண்டா என்று தாவீது கேட்டான்.

1. David said, Is there yet any who is left of the house of Sha'ul, that I may show him kindness for Yonatan's sake?

2. அப்பொழுது சவுலின் வீட்டு வேலைக்காரனாகிய சீபா என்னும் பேருள்ள வனைத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் அழைத்து வந்தார்கள்; ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீதானா சீபா என்று கேட்டான்; அவன் அடியேன்தான் என்றான்.

2. There was of the house of Sha'ul a servant whose name was Tziva, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, Are you Tziva? He said, Your servant is he.

3. அப்பொழுது ராஜா: தேவன் நிமித்தம் நான் சவுலின் குடும்பத்தாருக்குத் தயைசெய்யும்படி அவன் வீட்டாரில் யாதொருவன் இன்னும் மீதியாய் இருக்கிறானா என்று கேட்டதற்கு, சீபா ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இன்னும் யோனத்தானுக்கு இரண்டு கால்களும் முடமான ஒரு குமாரன் இருக்கிறான் என்றான்.

3. The king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Sha'ul, that I may show the kindness of God to him? Tziva said to the king, Yonatan has yet a son, who is lame of his feet.

4. அவன் எங்கே என்று ராஜா கேட்டதற்கு, சீபா ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, அவன் லோதேபாரிலே அம்மியேலின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் வீட்டில் இருக்கிறான் என்றான்.

4. The king said to him, Where is he? Tziva said to the king, Behold, he is in the house of Makhir the son of `Ammi'el, in Lo-Devar.

5. அப்பொழுது தாவீது ராஜா அவனை லோதேபாரிலிருக்கிற அம்மியேலின் குமாரனாகிய மாகீரின் வீட்டிலிருந்து அழைப்பித்தான்.

5. Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Makhir the son of `Ammi'el, from Lo-Devar.

6. சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானின் மகன் மேவிபோசேத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கினான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது: மேவிபோசேத்தே என்றான்; அவன்: இதோ, அடியேன் என்றான்.

6. Mefivoshet, the son of Yonatan, the son of Sha'ul, came to David, and fell on his face, and did obeisance. David said, Mefivoshet. He answered, Behold, your servant!

7. தாவீது அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ பயப்படாதே; உன் தகப்பனாகிய யோனத்தான் நிமித்தம் நான் நிச்சயமாய் உனக்குத் தயைசெய்து, உன் தகப்பனாகிய சவுலின் நிலங்களையெல்லாம் உனக்குத் திரும்பிக் கொடுப்பேன்; நீ என் பந்தியில் நித்தம் அப்பம் புசிப்பாய் என்றான்.

7. David said to him, 'Don't be afraid of him; for I will surely show you kindness for Yonatan your father's sake, and will restore you all the land of Sha'ul your father; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.'

8. அப்பொழுது அவன் வணங்கி: செத்த நாயைப் போலிருக்கிற என்னை நீர் நோக்கிப் பார்க்கிறதற்கு, உமது அடியான் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றான்.

8. He did obeisance, and said, 'What is your servant, that you should look on such a dead dog as I am?'

9. ராஜா சவுலின் வேலைக்காரனாகிய சீபாவை அழைப்பித்து, அவனை நோக்கி: சவுலுக்கும் அவர் வீட்டார் எல்லாருக்கும் இருந்த யாவையும் உன் எஜமானுடைய குமாரனுக்குக் கொடுத்தேன்.

9. Then the king called to Tziva, Sha'ul's servant, and said to him, 'All that pertained to Sha'ul and to all his house have I given to your master's son.

10. ஆகையால் நீ உன் குமாரரையும் உன் வேலைக்காரரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, உன் எஜமானுடைய குமாரன் புசிக்க அப்பம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்படி, அந்த நிலத்தைப் பயிரிட்டு, அதின் பலனைச் சேர்ப்பாயாக; உன் எஜமானுடைய குமாரன் மேவிபோசேத் நித்தம் என் பந்தியிலே அப்பம் புசிப்பான் என்றான்; சீபாவுக்கு பதினைந்து குமாரரும் இருபது வேலைக்காரரும் இருந்தார்கள்.

10. You shall till the land for him, you, and your sons, and your servants; and you shall bring in the fruits, that your master's son may have bread to eat: but Mefivoshet your master's son shall eat bread always at my table.' Now Tziva had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11. சீபா, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தமது அடியானுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் உமது அடியானாகிய நான் செய்வேன் என்றான். ராஜகுமாரரில் ஒருவனைப்போல, மேவிபோசேத் என் பந்தியிலே அசனம் பண்ணுவான் என்று ராஜா சொன்னான்.

11. Then said Tziva to the king, According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so shall your servant do. As for Mefivoshet, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

12. மேவிபோசேத்திற்கு மீகா என்னும் பேருள்ள சிறுவனாகிய ஒரு குமாரன் இருந்தான், சீபாவின் வீட்டிலே குடியிருந்த யாவரும் மேவிபோசேத்திற்கு வேலைக்காரராயிருந்தார்கள்.

12. Mefivoshet had a young son, whose name was Mikha. All that lived in the house of Tziva were servants to Mefivoshet.

13. மேவிபோசேத் ராஜாவின் பந்தியில் நித்தம் அசனம் பண்ணுகிறவனாயிருந்தபடியினால், எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு இரண்டு காலும் முடமாயிருந்தது.

13. So Mefivoshet lived in Yerushalayim; for he ate continually at the king's table. He was lame in both his feet.
