1. இதோ, ராஜா அப்சலோமுக்காக அழுது புலம்புகிறார் என்று யோவாபுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

1. And they brought Joab word, saying, Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.

2. ராஜா தம்முடைய குமாரனுக்காக மனம் நொந்திருக்கிறார் என்று அன்றையதினம் ஜனங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டார்கள்; அதினிமித்தம் அன்றையதினம் அந்த ஜெயம் ஜனத்திற்கெல்லாம் துக்கமாய் மாறிற்று.

2. And the victory was turned that day into mourning to all the people, for the people heard it said that day, The king grieves after his son.

3. யுத்தத்தில் முறிந்தோடுகிறதினால் வெட்கப்பட்டுத் திருட்டளவாய் வருகிறவர்கள்போல, ஜனங்கள் அன்றையதினம் திருட்டளவாய்ப் பட்டணத்திற்குள் வந்தார்கள்.

3. And the people stole away that day to go into the city, as people steal away when they are ashamed as they flee in the battle.

4. ராஜா தன் முகத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டு, மகா சத்தமாய்: என் மகனாகிய அப்சலோமே, அப்சலோமாகிய என் மகனே, என் மகனே என்று அலறிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

4. And the king hid his face. And the king cried with a loud voice, My son Absalom! Absalom my son!

5. அப்பொழுது யோவாப் வீட்டிற்குள்ளே ராஜாவினிடத்திலே போய்: இன்று உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய குமாரர் குமாரத்திகளின் ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய மனைவிகளின் ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய மறுமனையாட்டிகளின் ஜீவனையும் தப்புவித்த உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரின் முகத்தையும் வெட்கப்படுத்தினீர்; இன்று நீர் உம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களைச் சிநேகித்து, உம்மைச் சிநேகிக்கிறவர்களைப் பகைக்கிறீர் என்று விளங்குகிறது.

5. And Joab went in to the king, into the house, and said, You have this day shamed the faces of all your servants that have delivered you this day, and [have saved] the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and of your concubines,

6. அதிபதிகளும் சேவகரும் உமக்கு அற்பமானவர்கள் என்று இன்று விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறீர்; அப்சலோம் உயிரோடிருந்து, நாங்கள் அனைவரும் இன்று செத்துப்போனால், அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமாயிருக்கும் என்று இன்று அறிந்துகொண்டேன்.

6. forasmuch as you love them that hate you, and hate them that love you; and you have this day declared, that your princes and your servants are nothing [in your sight]; for I know this day, that if Absalom were alive, [and] all of us were dead today, then it would have been right in your sight.

7. இப்போதும் எழுந்திருந்து வெளியே வந்து, உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரரோடே அன்பாய்ப் பேசும்; நீர் வெளியே வராதிருந்தால், இன்று இரவு ஒருவரும் உம்மோடே தங்கியிருப்பதில்லை என்று கர்த்தர்மேல் ஆணையிடுகிறேன்; அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய சிறுவயது முதல் இதுவரைக்கும் உமக்கு நேரிட்ட எல்லாத் தீமையைப்பார்க்கிலும், அது உமக்கு அதிக தீமையாயிருக்கும் என்றான்.

7. And now arise and go forth, and speak comfortably to your servants; for I have sworn by the Lord, that unless you will go forth this day, there shall not a man remain with you this night. And know for yourself, this thing [will] indeed [be] evil to you beyond all the evil that has come upon you from your youth until now.

8. அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்துபோய், ஒலிமுகவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்தான்; இதோ, ராஜா ஒலிமுகவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார் என்று சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வந்தார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலரோவெனில் அவரவர் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

8. Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And all the people reported, saying, Behold, the king sits in the gate. And all the people went in before the king to the gate (for Israel had fled every man to his tent).

9. இஸ்ரவேலுடைய சகல கோத்திரங்களிலுமுள்ள சகல ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளும் வாக்குவாதம் உண்டாகி, அவர்கள்: ராஜா நம்முடைய சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கு நம்மை நீங்கலாக்கிவிட்டார், அவர்தானே பெலிஸ்தரின் கைக்கு நம்மைத் தப்புவித்தார்; இப்போதோ அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப, தேசத்தைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்.

9. And all the people disputed among all the tribes of Israel, saying, King David delivered us from all our enemies, and he rescued us from the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled from the land, and from his kingdom, and from Absalom.

10. நமக்கு ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணிவைத்த அப்சலோம் யுத்தத்திலே செத்தான்; இப்போதும் ராஜாவைத் திரும்ப அழைத்து வராமல் நீங்கள் சும்மாயிருப்பானேன் என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டார்கள்.

10. And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. And now, why are you silent about bringing back the king? And the word of all Israel came to the king.

11. இப்படி இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது, ராஜா இருக்கிற வீட்டிலே அவனுக்குக் கேள்வியானபடியினால், தாவீது ராஜா சாதோக் அபியத்தார் என்னும் ஆசாரியர்களிடத்துக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் யூதாவின் மூப்பரோடே பேசி: ராஜாவைத் தம்முடைய வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்ப அழைத்துவர நீங்கள் மற்றவர்களுக்குப் பிந்திப்போவானேன்?

11. And King David sent to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak to the elders of Israel, saying, Why are you the last to bring back the king to his house, since the word of all Israel have come to the king, to this [very] house?

12. நீங்கள் என் சகோதரர், நீங்கள் என் எலும்பும் என் மாம்சமுமானவர்கள்; ராஜாவைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துவர நீங்கள் பிந்தினவர்களாயிருப்பானேன் என்று சொல்லுங்கள்.

12. Ye [are] my brethren, you [are] my bones and my flesh: why are you the last to bring back the king to his house?

13. நீங்கள் அமாசாவையும் நோக்கி: நீ என் எலும்பும் என் மாம்சமும் அல்லவோ? நீ யோவாபுக்குப் பதிலாக எந்நாளும் எனக்கு முன்பாகப் படைத்தலைவனாயிராவிட்டால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

13. And you shall say to Amasa, [Are] you not my bone and my flesh? And now God do so to me and more also, if you shall not be commander of the army before me continually in the place of Joab.

14. இப்படியே யூதாவின் சகல மனுஷருடைய இருதயத்தையும் ஒரு மனுஷனுடைய இருதயத்தைப்போல் இணங்கப்பண்ணினதினால், அவர்கள் ராஜாவுக்கு: நீர் உம்முடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரோடும் திரும்பி வாரும் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினார்கள்.

14. And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah as that of one man; and they sent to the king, saying, Return, you and all your servants.

15. ராஜா திரும்ப வருகிறதற்கு யோர்தான்மட்டும் வந்தபோது, யூதா கோத்திரத்தார் ராஜாவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோய், ராஜாவை யோர்தானைக் கடக்கப்பண்ண கில்கால் மட்டும் வந்தார்கள்.

15. And the king returned, and came as far as the Jordan. And the men of Judah came to Gilgal on their way to meet the king, to cause the king to pass over the Jordan.

16. பகூரிம் ஊரானான பென்யமீனனாகிய கேராவின் மகன் சீமேயியும் தீவிரித்து, யூதா மனுஷரோடுங்கூடத் தாவீது ராஜாவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுபோனான்.

16. And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, made haste and went down with the men of Judah to meet King David.

17. அவனோடே பென்யமீன் மனுஷர் ஆயிரம்பேரும், சவுலின் வீட்டு வேலைக்காரனாகிய சீபாவும், அவனோடேகூட அவனுடைய பதினைந்து குமாரரும், அவனுடைய இருபது வேலைக்காரரும் இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக யோர்தானை வேகமாய்க் கடந்து போனார்கள்.

17. And a thousand men of Benjamin [were] with him, and Ziba the servant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons with him, and his twenty servants with him. And they went directly down to the Jordan before the king,

18. அவர்கள் ராஜாவின் வீட்டாரை இக்கரைப்படுத்தவும், அவன் விரும்பும் காரியத்துக்கு உதவவும், ஒரு படகு இக்கரையிலே வந்தது; அப்பொழுது கேராவின் குமாரனாகிய சீமேயி யோர்தானைக் கடக்கப்போகிற ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழவிழுந்து,

18. and they performed the service of bringing the king over; and a ferryboat went across to move the household of the king, and to do that which was right in his eyes. And Shimei the son of Gera fell on his face before the king, as he went over the Jordan,

19. ராஜாவை நோக்கி: என் ஆண்டவன் என் அக்கிரமத்தை என்மேல் சுமத்தாமலும், ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் எருசலேமிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு வருகிற நாளிலே, உமது அடியான் செய்த துரோகத்தை ராஜா நினைக்காமலும், தமது மனதில் வைக்காமலும் இருப்பாராக.

19. and said to the king, Let not my lord now impute iniquity, and remember not all the iniquity of your servant in the day in which my lord went out from Jerusalem, so that the king should mind it.

20. உமது அடியானாகிய நான் பாவஞ்செய்தேன் என்று அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; இப்போதும், இதோ, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவர, யோசேப்பு வீட்டார் அனைவருக்கும் நான் இன்று முந்திக்கொண்டேன் என்றான்.

20. For your servant knows that I have sinned; and behold, I have come this day before all Israel and the house of Joseph, to go down and meet my lord the king.

21. அப்பொழுது செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய அபிசாய் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: கர்த்தர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவரைச் சீமேயி தூஷித்தபடியினால், அவனை அதற்காகக் கொல்லவேண்டாமா என்றான்.

21. But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed?

22. அதற்குத் தாவீது: செருயாவின் குமாரரே, இன்று நீங்கள் எனக்குச் சத்துருக்களாகிறதற்கு, எனக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் என்ன? இன்று இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒருவன் கொல்லப்படலாமா? இன்று நான் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவானேன் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியாதா என்று சொல்லி,

22. And David said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you lie in wait against me this day? Today no man in Israel shall be put to death, for I know not this day if I reign over Israel.

23. ராஜா சீமேயியைப் பார்த்து: நீ சாவதில்லை என்று அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டான்.

23. And the king said to Shimei, You shall not die; and the king swore to him.

24. சவுலின் பேரனாகிய மேவிபோசேத்தும் ராஜாவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்தான்; ராஜா போனநாள்முதல், அவன் சமாதானத்தோடே திரும்பிவருகிற நாள்மட்டும், அவன் தன் கால்களைச் சுத்தம் பண்ணவுமில்லை, தன் தாடியைச் சவரம் பண்ணவுமில்லை; தன் வஸ்திரங்களை வெளுக்கவுமில்லை.

24. And Memphibosheth the son of Saul's son went down to meet the king, and had not dressed his feet, nor trimmed his nails, nor shaved himself, neither had he washed his garments, from the day that the king departed, until the day that he arrived in peace.

25. அவன் எருசலேமிலிருந்து ராஜாவுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வருகிறபோது, ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: மேவிபோசேத்தே, நீ என்னோடு கூட வராமல் போனது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

25. And it came to pass when he went into Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said to him, Why did you not go with me, Memphibosheth?

26. அதற்கு அவன்: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, என் வேலைக்காரன் என்னை மோசம் போக்கினான்; உமது அடியானாகிய நான் முடவனானபடியினால், ஒரு கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம்வைத்து அதின்மேல் ஏறி, ராஜாவோடேகூடப் போகிறேன் என்று அடியேன் சொன்னேன்.

26. And Memphibosheth said to him, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me; for your servant said to him, Saddle me the donkey, and I will ride upon it, and go with the king; for your servant [is] lame.

27. அவன் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனிடத்தில் உமது அடியான்மேல் வீண்பழி சொன்னான்; ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோ தேவனுடைய தூதனைப்போல இருக்கிறார்; உமது பார்வைக்கு நலமாய்த் தோன்றுகிறபடி செய்யும்.

27. And he has dealt deceitfully with your servant to my lord the king. But my lord the king [is] like an angel of God; do that which is good in your eyes.

28. ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்கு முன்பாக என் தகப்பன் வீட்டார் எல்லாரும் சாவுக்கு ஏதுவாயிருந்தார்களே ஒழிய, மற்றப்படி அல்ல; ஆனாலும் உமது பந்தியிலே சாப்பிடுகிறவர்களோடே உமது அடியேனை வைத்தீர்; இன்னும் நான் ராஜாவிடத்தில் முறையிட, இனி எனக்கு என்ன நியாயம் இருக்கிறது என்றான்.

28. For all of my father's house were as dead men before my lord the king; yet you have set your servant among them that eat at your table; and what right have I any longer even to cry to the king?

29. அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் காரியத்தைக் குறித்து அதிகமாய் பேசுவானேன்? நீயும் சீபாவும் நிலத்தைப் பங்கிட்டுக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று நான் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

29. And the king said to him, Why speak any longer of these matters? I have said, You and Ziba shall divide the land.

30. அதற்கு மேவிபோசேத் ராஜாவை நோக்கி: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் சமாதானத்தோடே தம்முடைய வீட்டிற்கு வந்திருக்கும்போது, அவனே எல்லாவற்றையும் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளட்டும் என்றான்.

30. And Memphibosheth said to the king, Rather, let him take it all, since my lord the king has come in peace to his house.

31. கீலேயாத்தியனாகிய பர்சிலாவும் ரோகிலிமிலிருந்து வந்து, யோர்தான் மட்டும் ராஜாவை வழிவிட்டனுப்ப, அவனோடேகூட யோர்தானின் துறைமட்டும் கடந்து வந்தான்.

31. And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and crossed over the Jordan with the king, that he might escort the king over the Jordan.

32. பர்சிலா எண்பது வயதுசென்ற கிழவனாயிருந்தான்; ராஜா மக்னாயீமிலே தங்கியிருக்குமட்டும் அவனைப் பராமரித்து வந்தான்; அவன் மகா பெரிய மனுஷனாயிருந்தான்.

32. And Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; and he had provided for the king when he dwelt in Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

33. ராஜா பர்சிலாவை நோக்கி: நீ என்னோடேகூடக் கடந்துவா, எருசலேமிலே உன்னை என்னிடத்தில் வைத்து பராமரிப்பேன் என்றான்.

33. And the king said to Barzillai, You shall go over with me, and I will nourish your old age with me in Jerusalem.

34. பர்சிலா ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: நான் ராஜாவோடேகூட எருசலேமுக்கு வர. நான் இன்னும் உயிரோடிருக்கும் ஆயுசின் நாட்கள் எம்மாத்திரம்?

34. And Barzillai said to the king, How many [are] the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

35. இப்பொழுது நான் எண்பது வயதுள்ளவன்; இனி நலமானது இன்னதென்றும் தீதானது இன்னதென்றும் எனக்குத் தெரியுமோ? புசிக்கிறதும் குடிக்கிறதும் உமது அடியேனுக்கு ருசிகரமாயிருக்குமோ? சங்கீதக்காரர் சங்கீதக்காரிகளுடைய சத்தத்தை இனிக் கேட்கக்கூடுமோ? உமது அடியேனாகிய நான் இனி ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குப் பாரமாயிருக்வேண்டியது என்ன?

35. I am this day eighty years old: can I then distinguish between good and evil? Can your servant taste any longer what I eat or drink? Can I any longer hear the voice of singing men or singing women? And why shall your servant any longer be a burden to my lord the king?

36. அடியேன் கொஞ்சதூரம் யோர்தான்மட்டும் ராஜாவோடேகூட வருவேன்; அதற்கு ராஜா இவ்வளவு பெரிய உபகாரத்தை எனக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்ன?

36. Your servant will go a little way over the Jordan with the king. And why does the king return me this recompense?

37. நான் என் ஊரிலே மரித்து, என் தாய் தகப்பன்மார் கல்லறையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்படும்படிக்கு, உமது அடியான் திரும்பிப்போகட்டும்; ஆனாலும், இதோ, உமது அடியானாகிய கிம்காம் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடேகூட வருவான்; உம்முடைய பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடி அவனுக்குச் செய்யும் என்றான்.

37. Let your servant remain, I pray, and I will die in my city, by the tomb of my father and of my mother. And behold, your servant Chimham shall go over with my lord the king; and do to him as it seems good in your eyes.

38. அப்பொழுது ராஜா: கிம்காம் என்னோடேகூட வரட்டும்; உன் பார்வைக்கு நலமானபடியே நான் அவனுக்கு நடப்பித்து, நீ என்னிடத்தில் வேண்டிக்கொள்வதையெல்லாம் நான் உனக்குச் செய்வேன் என்றான்.

38. And the king said, Let Chimham go over with me, and I will do to him what is good in my sight; and whatsoever you shall choose at my hand, I will do for you.

39. ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் யோர்தானைக் கடந்தபோது, ராஜா பர்சிலாவை முத்தமிட்டு அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து, தானும் கடந்துபோனான்; அவனோ தன்னிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய்விட்டான்.

39. And all the people went over the Jordan, and the king went over. And the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned to his place.

40. ராஜா கடந்து, கில்கால்மட்டும் போனான்; கிம்காம் அவனோடேகூடக் கடந்துவந்தான்; யூதா ஜனம் அனைத்தும், இஸ்ரவேலில் பாதி ஜனமும், ராஜாவை இக்கரைப்படுத்தி வந்தபின்பு,

40. And the king went over to Gilgal and Chimham went over with him. And all the men of Judah went over with the king, and also half the people of Israel.

41. இதோ, இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷர் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: எங்கள் சகோதரராகிய யூதா மனுஷர் திருட்டளவாய் உம்மை அழைத்துவந்து, ராஜாவையும், அவர் வீட்டாரையும், அவரோடேகூட இருக்கிற தாவீதின் மனுஷர் அனைவரையும், யோர்தானைக் கடக்கப்பண்ணினது என்ன என்றார்கள்.

41. And behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen you away, and caused the king and all his house to pass over the Jordan, and all the men of David with him?

42. அப்பொழுது யூதா மனுஷர் எல்லாரும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜா எங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவரானபடியினால் இதைச் செய்தோம்; இதற்காக நீங்கள் கோபிப்பானேன்? நாங்கள் ராஜாவின் கையிலே ஏதாகிலும் வாங்கித் தின்றோமோ? எங்களுக்கு வெகுமானம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டதோ? என்றார்கள்.

42. And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel and said, Because the king is near of kin to us: and why were you thus angry concerning this matter? Have we indeed eaten of the king's food? Or has he given us a gift, or has he sent us a portion?

43. இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷரோ யூதா மனுஷருக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவினிடத்தில் எங்களுக்குப் பத்துப்பங்கு இருக்கிறது; உங்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் எங்களுக்குத் தாவீதினிடத்தில் அதிக உரிமை உண்டு; பின்னை ஏன் எங்களை அற்பமாய் எண்ணினீர்கள்; எங்கள் ராஜாவைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துவரவேண்டும் என்று முந்திச் சொன்னவர்கள் நாங்கள் அல்லவா என்றார்கள்; ஆனாலும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷரின் பேச்சைப்பார்க்கிலும் யூதா மனுஷரின் பேச்சு பலத்தது.

43. And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we are older than you, we have also an interest in David above you: and why have you thus insulted us, and why was not our advice taken before that of Judah, to bring back our king? And the speech of the men of Judah was sharper than the speech of the men of Israel.
